When the play button is on while trying to play chords with the arpeggiator on the first 2 notes are played together in the begining and there are inconistencies in the quantisation of the notes. When the play button is off and the keyboard uses its own clock the arpeggiated chords are played as they should. This means that the arpeggiator is unusable in ableton. After lots of emails with novation they answered with this.. "The best way to perfectly sync an arp to Ableton would be to use Ableton itself. I.e. trigger clips with arp patterns in or use the arp device mapped to the Launchkey controls. The arp on the Launchkey is great for a live scenario that doesn't require perfect synchronisation with Ableton, but less so if you need it to be perfectly in time with other Ableton clips. This is because it does not account for human error. " AND "Yes, this is possible (to play 2 synced arpeggiated chords) but it requires you to be very accurate with the re-triggering of the chord. Hi, thanks for your interest! There are a few different modes on the LaunchKey Mk3’s arpeggiator. In most of these modes, the arp will behave as you’d probably expect: separating the chords you play into individual notes, which are played rhythmically in the order you choose. However, there is also a “chord” mode, which may be what you’re thinking of: this will repeat the chord you play on each rhythmic step of your selected arp rate. In other words, you can set the arp rate to 16th notes, and when you hold down a chord on the keys, the chord will repeat on every 16th note. You should be able to take it out of scale chord mode by pressing shift and then the "scale chord" button. Question: is there a way to make the record button record in arrangement view (like the mk2) because right now whenever I click the button it records a clip in session
Hi, Nicholas! Hope your 2021 is off to a great start. That's a great question. I double checked the user manual for the Launchkey Mk3 and I couldn't find a way to record directly into the Arrangement View in Ableton Live. The best workaround would probably be to click the global record button in Ableton so that the Launchkey records into the Session and Arrangement Views simultaneously. Alternatively, you could record into the Session View and then drag the clip you record into the Arrangement View once you get a take you're happy with. From what I can see on forums, this is something a lot of users have been asking about, so I wouldn't be surprised to see Novation fix it with a firmware update in the future. Feel free to contact me directly with any further questions, and thanks for your interest! Caleb Lowrey, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1620, caleb_lowrey@sweetwater.com
People talk all the time about how well you can control Ableton live from Ableton launchkey so perfectly all the time. This is not true as in all clips you see the user click with the mouse & look at their screen.
If he hit shift and session mode, he could have used the right arrow above the stop, solo, and mute button to play everything that is on the first track. And then arrow down for the second track, and so on
6:45 you had to push 5 buttons to solo one track. You can just click S on laptop keyboard :) That is the thing what makes me mad about those new controlers. It is always so stupid made, not usable, click there, then there, then over there on the other side, "shift" is in the furtherest conner (launchpad pro mk3)... just wondering how stupid people must work in these companies :) Every kid would designed it better. Anyway thanks for the review :)

@@sweetwater thanks. I have the 25 key mk2 version and am interested in the mk3 line, but am concerned that the keybed may have gotten worse. But sounds like it's similar. I'll have to get a hands test to decide for myself. Thanks for the help.
I remember the Launchkey series as having fairly light synth action keys, not the best, not the worst, but I haven't played the Mk3. I would have preferred action closer to the Roland A49, one of the best synth action keys I've played. But at this price point, and all the other features, I guess it couldn't be done.
Release date?
Plz launch the next version with endless nobs and better keybed like Komplete Kontrol
Novation SL
If only they kept the touch modular and pitch wheel like the 25, sad days.
The biggest mistake in my life that I from india purchased a lot of gears from Sweetwater as my sister stays in San Jose.. I got no after sales n service as because the warranty did not cover up in India...I emailed Sweetwater several times with no reply...

A bitter experience Bro.
Anyone else having the "problem" that the pads trigger twice sometimes? I don't know if that's my fault by not hitting them hard enough.
Please make a new FL 20 tutorial......

Hmmm? All except you didn't mention Fl studio

Not now mom, I'm on pot mode.
I Can't Understand How Musicians Have Too Bad Sound
Not everyone uses Ableton so why is it set for it.There are better DAWs imo.
this guy looks like just got hit by the brownie he ate before shooting
Nice but your chords need work! They sound like 5th chords you would here in Techno...
what the logiciem
like
congrats on having the quietest video on youtube
People talk all the time about how well you can control Ableton live from Ableton launchkey so perfectly all the time. This is not true as in all clips you see the user click with the mouse & look at their screen.
spincoke Smart and true point!
anthony patterson 6:41
@@spincoke you mean where he hit play with the spacebar? which he could have just as easily hit play on the Launchkey?
If he hit shift and session mode, he could have used the right arrow above the stop, solo, and mute button to play everything that is on the first track. And then arrow down for the second track, and so on
No FL studio?? Oof
Listen closely. :-)

Bad mixing buddy your voice has a lot of velocity variation. When music is played behind, I can’t hear your voice. I’m not using head phones. Anyway Kudos
