- Throughout our over 80-year history, we have been encouraged onward by hundreds of passionate employees and customers, and thousands of fans and enthusiasts around the world. This film tells the story of how a small local repair shop in Pfaffenhausen, Germany toppled the automotive establishment and has continued building cars for one sole purpose - the love of the automobile.
RUF began as a small repair shop which grew a passion for Porsches. Repairs turned to modifications, modifications to manufacture. Today, RUF cars are designed, engineered and manufactured entirely in house, but the passion remains the same as it did when we were tinkering with the 356.
RUF: Love at the Red line is a film we put together to thank you, the fans, customers and enthusiasts who helped drive us forward, because this is your story as much as it is ours.
I went to Germany six years ago with a goal: visit Ruf. Not only I succeeded, I was able to shake Alois' hand. He came out of his office, took the time to talk to a guy who may never be able to buy one of his cars. That's someting you don't get easily, a memory that will last forever.
That is awesome. They have a quality reputation and it sounds like they are quality people as well.

Gran Turismo 2 introduced me to the brilliant world of RUF.
Shame the series has gone the way of the loo bowl.. It's great but it's not Gran Turismo.. In 7 if they don't go back to their roots. I am out for good (Sadly)

If I recall correctly it was also a roundabout way for GT’s devs to get Porsches into the game, since EA had some kind of licensing deal with Porsche itself.

Same here. I used to think it was just a Porsche until I drove it in the game and realized it wasn't a Porsche it was a RUF!
I have met Mr Ruf and his wife and they are one of the most down to earth people, best of luck and continued success.

Great Video! RUF has set the standard for all of us in the business to strive for. RUF was imprinted in my heart in 1990 when I has an opportunity to drive one of their cars from Seattle to LA when I was 17 years old. an experience I will NEVER forget.

Very nice film. I discovered Ruf through Gran Turismo so it was nice to see Kazunori in this too. Strong memories of a yellow CTR2 and that 'handle' rear wing on PS1.
We need the CTR Anniversary in GT Sport!
The yellow bird felt really special on the Nürburgring.
Adenauer Forst and Hohe Acht were especially hairy to keep it on the track. I feel very honored to have been able to push it around the ring in the late 2000s.

So happy to have my little piece of the Ruf world in my 911 fleet, in the form of a conversion 996 R Turbo done by RAC in Dallas for a previous owner. Hope to make it for a personal visit!

I love Alois RUF! The man has been a hero of mine sice i was 13 in 1988. My uncle bought an 87 Carrera new & by 88 was putting RUF parts on it. I always follow RUF & see what they're up too. They make only the best product & they can make anything happen. The greatest...RUF...👍💚🏁🏁

Thank you for making this film, it is the greatest automotive film I have seen in a very long time. I dream of one day owning a Ruf, I fell in love when I was a kid and even though I am a huge car enthusiast and love all cars so much, nothing speaks to me or comes near beating what it would mean to me to have a Ruf. These cars are so special and that is really shown well in this film. The filmmakers did an excellent job of capturing how amazing these cars are and for the right reasons as well. The point was not missed and I found this film to be genuine, just like the cars. On the rare occasion I get to see one, it is amazing. I have seen a few of these guys driving their Rufs in Malibu and one day, I am positive, I will own one of these pieces of automotive history. Until then, I'm just going to keep rewatching this.

+1. RUF 911's .. After the end of the video, I went into the garage giving my 993 C2S a big hug! I'd spend 6 months spec'ing out a coupe before ordering in the summer of 1997. .. Fond memories.
I am glad I discovered RUF by myself today and would continue learning about this great company.
Hans Lieb! He took a Ruf 996 Turbo out on the Autobahn around midnight and got it up to 212mph without sweating. A legend.
This is amazing as i was there in Carmel when Ruf was there with Bruce, unknow to me is that am in the Video. I have met Alois with is wife Estonia in Monterey several times over the years. I am one of the lucky owner of a Ruf BTR. fantastic video.

Great video! I got into RUF through older Gran Turismo games and I love the passion behind the cars, and the tuning philosophy behind them. Most fun experience I've had was trying to recreate the "Faczination on Nürburgring" video on Assetto Corsa ( on my channel ;) ). Hope to drive one some day!

Dr.Joe and I traveled separately to Zuffenhausen in June 2006 to pick up cars. My PTS cabriolet S was scheduled for a Tuesday delivery while Joe’s new Cayman S was set for Monday. We had both been enjoying breakfast Saturday on the wharf in Santa Barbara and then on Monday, enjoying lunch courtesy of Porsche in their ‘casino.’ He left quickly for Pfaffenhausen as he was going to be the Guinea pig for a Ruf supercharger installation. Being old friends with Alois, they used to be (maybe still) members of the PCA Santa Barbara region. For a couple of years Alois left the Yellow Bird in Joe’s charge. We all got to see it often! Apparently, Ruf also has European tours with his customers periodically. When Ruf does an integration, they don’t do it half way.

I absolutely love these cars.
I am impressed with the history of RUF and the work you do, the achievements, the cars. It's mind blowing the engineering capabilities, the artisan work, the legendary rolling jewels that adquire a reputation on its own, so huge for a small company. The 911 is a legend, not just a Porsche, its beyond the creator, and now it is kept by RUF to the purest. I used to know the company from old magazines, but then learnt to drive the cars in GT5,6 (the yellowbird is the wildest, ctr2, 3400S), and they got my heart as favourite brand. I will never have enough of the sound singing exhaust of the turbos, the adrenalin of wild power and all the enjoyment and learning as a driver, there's nothing like it.

Incredible film. I only discovered RUF several years ago driving around Beverly Hills admiring beautiful homes that have a strong background in architecture. That day I stumbled upon a CTR3 owned by the amazing-humble man in the video, Phillip. Parked right outside his home, a moment I will never forget.

I used to borrow a friends 911 c4s around 2004/5 & think it was a 2003 roughly.
Had great times in the car and with my friend who's since passed. Loved 911 since. Also grew up in the 80 seeing whale tails & they red yuppie Porsche. Then a boss of mine had a red whale tail & loved them always.

I found out about the RUF Yellow Bird by a set of top trumps around 1992 when I was 11 and i still want one just as much today, thank you for building beautiful fast cars.

Bravo! Well done! My first 911 was a 1970 911E, my current one is a 2014 Carrera S, over 45 years I have had six. I have always wanted a RUF like so many others. Hopefully most are actually driven as intended and not put in a garage as a collector car.
