The best part about these cars is that they're not too overdone and built to be driven. Relatively affordable compared to that company in California too
You thinking of Singer I imagine? Singer does make some beautiful 911 resto mods. Super expensive, but they are mostly all one off parts manufactured in house and made out of carbon, titanium, billet aluminum, magnesium, gold and Inconel along with full custom ÖHLINS suspension. I would love to have Their Light Design Model with the air cooled flat 6 pushing over 500 NA power. Unfortunately they are built for the high millionaires and billionaire boys and girls club. They are stunning to look at and drive. I would excited as well get a 911 from Rennsport and save a substantial amount of money on a very attractive 911. That's just my shitty 02 worth though.
@@Peanutdenver....Everything you said is accurate. I occasionally see people criticize Singer for having such high prices which is ridiculously ignorant. Their work is amazing and as you said, they manufacture most parts in house using expensive materials. Each Singer 911 also takes around 4,000 man hours to complete. That is 4,000 hours of highly skilled labor. When you actually break it down, the cost of a Singer 911 is very reasonable for what you get. The 911 is this video is amazing but Singer is on another level. Just the difference in labor is astounding. This 911 takes between 900-1,000 man hours to complete and while it uses quality components, they are nowhere near Singer level. Obviously, this difference can be seen in the price. I would love to either one as they are both amazing cars.
I don't understand mechanical nostalgia, so I'd rationally rather have a new one because it is objectively superior - but then again, you could rationalise it by looking at depreciation - the new 911 will lose value, this probably won't.
Beautiful build , I did an RSR in the 1990s using a 1973 911T. As he said no us in building it if you can't drive it. I drove mine in every kind of compition I had the time for driving from Northern California to southern California either I5 or the route 1 an never had any problems. won a lot in auto cross. You make me wish I still had mine. Thanks Rennsport!
I love the car but, even more so, I love Mr. Cockell's attitude. These cars are meant to be driven, dammit, and driven hard. And often. Mr. Cockell appears to be building very much a driver's car, in sharp contrast to a few others who seem only to be building for well heeled clients' bragging rights. A man after my own heart. And I say this as a guy who has put an honest quarter million miles on my own 1972 911 R tribute, 3.0 liter twin plugged high compression MFI inducted hooligan hot-rod. It warms my heart to see others unapologetically keeping that spirit alive. Well done, Mr. Cockell...
Lol not many, the CEO of my company (he made millions in bonuses last year btw) drives an old Buick. But i suppose you don't build wealth by spending money haha
The £100K quoted in the vid seemed a bit low to me, so I checked. Looks like they actually start at £160,000 ($208,000). The one in the video likely higher with the bigger 3.5 liter engine. 911rennsport.co.uk/for-sale/sold-1979-33-930-turbo-rennsport-rsr-similar-new-builds-available-£160000

Well there it is. The moment you see and hear an amazing car that makes you catch your breath and wish you could drive one. Fab, just fabulous. Well done that man.
That right there is my dream 911. Perfect blend of modern creature comforts and a classic driving experience. I hope to God that when I finally have the cash to buy this car I can still have the pleasure take my business to this man for my very own special car.

Only one problem with this video, it was not long enough! The purists can go detail their first Sunday of the month car show specials, keeps them happy. What Rennsport has done is an awesome way to fill a need. The business owner is clearly into what he has created. Choice of one these vs a 992? One these Rennsport's please.
In about twenty years time, the only classic internal combustion engined cars that will exist are these "reimagined" 911s, there are bleedin' hundreds of them, and maybe a Lada.
As a 911 owner I am all for building any car how you want it. They are meant to be driven hard and enjoyed. Need to save and get a build slot. Love the RSR!!
Full disclosure - I'm not a Porsche fan. But I really enjoyed that video and very impressed with the restoration and modification! If I were a Porsche fan I'd absolutely love what he's done.
Really why? IF you have the money already I see no way this car is superior to a Singer, I love both. But both cars will hold their value very well so its really just an investment at that point. Even if you spend the $550k more on the Singer you will get that back, plus some, when/if you sell it.
These are a far better buy than those wanky "re-imagined" Californicated tosser's vehcicles because this guy is down to earth. He re-engineers them to be enjoyed, not as an ego accessory. This is also a far better review than that Catchpole with his superlative diahorea. This guy actually enjoys it.
I think he answers the question himself at the start of the video, there's nothing sacrilege about it. Porsche himself said it, "I couldn't find the sports car of my dreams so I built it myself".
Agreed. I used to have a 914 with the 914/6 arches and I wish I still had it today. Mind you, I'd be looking at Subaru engine swap if I did. Unless I'd won the lottery and then it'd be a 4.0 flat six. 😍
Very cool cars! Rennsport has captured the essence of early Porsches - incredible driving experience, function first, no opulence. Singers have incredible build quality, but they also have an opulent prissiness. The interior of a Singer smells like an expensive lady’s purse. On the other hand, the $100K-ish cost the narrator mentions doesn’t sound right. Custom body panels, strip to bare metal & full paint, custom built engine with individual throttle bodies (throttle bodies alone are about $20K with ECU and tuning), new interior, etc - the scope of work doesn’t fit $100K. Based on mods I’ve done to my 964, I think in US dollars we’re looking at somewhere north of $250K (not including the initial purchase cost of the car). Great way to modify a an ‘80s 911, but let’s be real about the cost.
