Dortmund, Germany - 1992 - I came into a dark, dirty basement disco by accident and heard this song after a while... the breakdown at 5:17 made me headbang the first time and let me become an intense listener to thrash and death metal for many years :) Their previous album "beneath the remains" is 40 minutes of brutal power that empties your brain. I listened to it back in 90s about 1000 times ;) Great band back then... great strong metal. Early 90s thrash and death metal was partly so good - beside Sepultua my favorite where Morgoth, Napalm Death and especially the dutch Gorefest and of course Carcass although I liked their melodic stuff starting with Heartwork most. If you want any recommendation from that time probably many old dudes have lots of more then I have - my first suggestions would be: Sepultura - Inner self Carcass - Death Certificate and Buried Dreams Gorefest - Infamous Existence (brutal slow the first 80% of the song) Morgoth - Submission And one of the earliest synthi Death Metal (when Gothic wasnt even created by Paradise Lost): Crematory - Eyes of Suffering Aaaaaannndd I recommend everybody the first album of Fear Factory called "Sould of a New Machine" - very hard industrial metal - especially the 3 songs "Martyr", "Spapegoat", "Scumgrief"
What a track and what a band these are/were. In terms of thrash metal, it doesn't get much heavier and powerful without becoming death metal. Proper head banging riffs 👍👍👏
the more time passes, the more Sepultura's message becomes relevant. I love Sepultura, in particular Max and Igor....check out Cavalera Conspiracy some time.....
