Just to be clear I never said that grove is not good, there is so much groove in metal it's not even funny, by the way I play drums so I have to understand that. I'm just saying you have to lose it instead of trying to always be focused on it. Metal has a lot more groove than a lot of people understand and thrash is no exception. 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

Brazilian sub here! Thank you, guys. Love this reaction! I suggest you guys to check out another big brazilian metal band called Angra. The songs Waiting Silence or Angels and Demons, both from the album Temple of Shadows, would be a good choice.
Amazing band with all 3 of their different singers! I'm sad Kiko and Dirk left both their bands to join Megadeth but their next album is going to destroy. I saw Angra twice during the Rebirth lineup and they destroyed and are such a class act, such nice down to earth guys!
Brazilian subscriber here too, and since their older videos I keep asking Angra - Hunters and Prey, because I'm reeeeally curious to see their reactions to the Brazilian influences on that song. I'm asking for more than a year now. I agree that temple of shadows is their best album, but I really think it would be great to choose a very Brazilian sound like Hunters and Prey.
That look on George's face.... I'mma gonna shit my pants... then he lets it rip with a "Fffillthy"... I spit coffee... Perfectly reviewed in one word...

Another note...these guys did this in the 80s better than anyone else and they did it without having to tune down their guitars! Plus Igor Cavalera DESTROYS Lars Ulrich, there just is no comparison.

Sepultura's Arise and Chaos A.D. albums were two of the best albums of early 90's metal. All time classics for me. I've had Chaos A.D. in my cd changer in my car for ten years lol. They just have a grit that was unmatched at the time, and Max's voice was perfect for the music
@@Alfaqwad I never quite got into Beneath the Remains for some reason. It was always Arise and Chaos A.D for me. Maybe it was because it was so flat sounding on the mix
ARISE is another awesome one or Desperate Cries! I'm bout to turn 50 I still mosh and skateboard . Till I start breaking stuff lol grew up on thrash since like 12 , this song is best all stuff from first lead singer.
@ Piester You know what they say, 'inside every 50 year old is a twenty-five year old wondering what the fcuk happened'! (I just turned 50...CRANK IT!)
I think most people who don't listen to metal will go for Roots since it's easier to listen to with it being less aggressive and more groovy. But to say Classic Sepultura is better than Roots is a bit of oversimplifying the situation (and most definitely a case of fans not wanting too much change from the bands they like). Roots was made to be something different, and was paying homage to their Brazilian Roots ;) get it? When I hear this comparison made I feel like it's saying "if you don't follow the approved thrash formula and style you're no longer good"
I feel so embraced when watching your vids...It's like you guys take your time to actually *get it*. I don't know how to explain it...but when I try to show some fellas the groove and beauty of a banger like this one, 10 seconds in it and they're like "nah this is just noise" But when you guys started headbanging, stopped the music and George went like: *FFFFFFILLLTTHY!!!* I'm like YEAH! THAT'S IT, THESE GUYS GET IT! Huge fan from Sepultura...we hear you Brasil. Big salute from Argentina
@@aseainfo You are 100% right. I wonder why they say "we like thrash," but complain when the song speeds up. I don't get it. If someone doesn't like it fast, then he obviously doesn't like thrash metal.
Sepultura Inner Self or Desperate Cry. Those two are probably the two grooviest but also deep songs by the band. Beneath the Remains and Dead Embrionic Cells were their Thrash staple albums, but after that came Chaos A.D. and that's when they went into a more modern direction in 93. Chaos A.D. is still an Amazing album. Songs like Nomad and Propaganda are very captivating, but their most influential stuff for me is definitely the former, they entered in thrash from Brazil and not only held their own with the big four and others, they made music in thrash that was equally ground breaking. Mind blowing addictive riffs, insane drumming, deep bass lines. They never got the credit they deserved in the classic thrash scene because they were so much darker and morbid, they are basically a death metal band that absorbed thrash then went beyond. They are and always will be Legends to me. Max's death screams are the best there ever was and ever will be. Try looking and their Morbid Visions or Scizophrenia album, then listen to beneath the remains, they go from hardcore death metal (at the time) to Classic Thrash with Death metal Influence then three albums later you have roots wich was a complete change again.
"When I think of metal, my first thought is this genre". What a cool and interesting comment! I'm stealing it. Great to know you're giving the Seps a chance and really digging aspects of them; the fast bits of thrash songs aren't for everyone but they really can be something that grows on you over time (like one of you said).
Pantera - Cowboys from Hell You guys like thrash it seems, and you like music with a good groove to it. That whole album meets that description, but especially that song. Trust me, you'll love it!
Sepultura frontman Max Cavalera did an album with Mastodon bassist/vocalist Troy Sanders, Dillinger Escape Plan Vocalist Greg Puciato and Converge drummer Ben Koeller. The band is called "Killer Be Killed" and y'all need to check them out. Everyone but the drummer takes their share of the vocals in the band, similar to Mastodon (kind of, just mean that by having multiple vocalists). "Melting of My Marrow" and "Face Down" are great marriages of what they all bring to the table from their backgrounds. Thought y'all might find that intriguing
Great reaction! Someone may have commented on this already, but the fast thrash beats are part of the dynamics. They make the mid-tempo and groove beats hit you so much harder. Hatebreed made a career out of it. lol Love your channel!
I think that people should give some love to Sepultura's Schizophrenia album. There are songs like "Inquisition Symphony" "From the past comes the Storms", " Escape to the Void" and more. I just think Lost in Vegas are not yet ready for such raw stuff..oh well
@@nuklearskorn8841 Yeah but think that Schizophrenia is their first (real) step to become thrash legends. It was raw, at times groovy, simple and alot of times pretty technical. Yes, Morbid Visions is putrid and raw but so is Bestial Devastation. Schizophrenia just combines everything...except good production, which to me is completely fine.
Os gringos devem ficar se perguntando: Como o povo do Brasil não dá valor a uma pérola dessas, "vcs são loucos??", Eles piram lá fora com heavy metal de verdade e aqui no Brasil são muito pouco os que dão valor...vai entender!!

These guys explained that they wouldn't do more Pantera because of Phil's racist bullshit. Understandable, there's no room for hate in music, it's about community and love. Arise is a masterpiece of Heavy Metal! This record has to be listened in its entirety. The production, songwriting, Igor's drums, Max's voice... incredible! You guys are cool, keep up the great work! \m/
Holy Shit, guys...you don't know how good i feel to see you guys enjoying my favorite band of my home country! Sepultura rules! Aqui é Brasil!
brbrbr
This album was magic from beginning to end.
FINALLY the community picks the right song
Hey guys ......you dont know me but because of you i found Blackbird by Alter Bridge.....i shared the song with my wife and she fell in love with it....oh that guitar solo....well i lost her last week...she was 35....bacterial pneumonia killed her.....but i put Blackbird into her 8 song tribute at that Memorial service....ty for the inspiration
Take care Brother. So sorry for your loss.
My condolences brother. Your family will be in my thoughts.
So sorry for your loss man, it must be devastating. My condolences & stay strong.
Prayers and condolences to you 😥
So sorry hear this man. Music can be a great way to express sorrow and sadness. It had been for me in the past. Stay strong.
Hell yes! This is such a sick song! I am so pumped about this haha. You guys need to stop thinking about groove and just loose it, that's what metal is about! You guys are always awesome.
Yeah, thats exactly the point. Just TRASH
Amen groove has no place in metal
Brandon Wiesner and the thrash movement left all of those irrelevant bands behind.
Grove is an essential part of thrash and this song is full of it
Just to be clear I never said that grove is not good, there is so much groove in metal it's not even funny, by the way I play drums so I have to understand that. I'm just saying you have to lose it instead of trying to always be focused on it. Metal has a lot more groove than a lot of people understand and thrash is no exception. 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
This is one of the first metal songs I heard, and I fell in love with it immediately. Been listening to metal now for ~32 years, and I still love it just as much now as I did the first time I heard it! Thanks gents!
Brazilian sub here!
Thank you, guys. Love this reaction!
I suggest you guys to check out another big brazilian metal band called Angra. The songs Waiting Silence or Angels and Demons, both from the album Temple of Shadows, would be a good choice.
Haaaaa I didn't know Angra was Brazilian! Nice! Obrigada, Brazil!
Amazing band with all 3 of their different singers! I'm sad Kiko and Dirk left both their bands to join Megadeth but their next album is going to destroy. I saw Angra twice during the Rebirth lineup and they destroyed and are such a class act, such nice down to earth guys!
Jam Sena love Angra. Temple of shadows for sure - but also should mention that Angra’s guitarist went to megadeth.
Why are trying to burn our film?! Angra is Just firula
THANK YOU SO MUCH for the SEPULTURA video! The whole Arise album is great. Listen to DESPERATE CRY or REFUSE/RESIST!
Rivers Of Nihil - Where Owls Know My Name , you lads will dig it!!!!
Glad you guys liked it! Shout from one of your brazilian fans, keep the awsome work and stay heavy!!!

On another note, "Arise" is one of my favorite albums, my number one being "Beneath the Remains".
it's hands down their best IMO
BtR is my all time fav thrash album, and it's not even close.
Beneath the Remains was the first album I bought myself, and its still one of my all time favourites.
@@IR4TE It's a rare album that I believe has zero filler, just consistently good from start to finish.

George had me cracking up this whole video! His expressions and how much he was into the song was just great!! Rock on, fellas!
That look on George's face.... I'mma gonna shit my pants... then he lets it rip with a "Fffillthy"... I spit coffee... Perfectly reviewed in one word...
The same way this wasn't requested first, here is one more song from Iron Maiden that wasn't requested ever. It's called Rime of the Ancient Mariner and it is a clear representation of why Iron Maiden is considered one of the greatest bands of all time.
I grew up loving Iron Maiden so I agree with you 100%!!
Sepultura, sarcófago, krisiun e korzus, são patrimônios do metal brasileiro!
Só Sepultura presta.

Every song on that album is awesome.
That riff you are all enjoying has got to be one of the Greatest Breakdown's in Thrash/Metal History. Love it.
I think All Nightmare Long by Metallica but that's my opinion
@@markhammond4517 I just went and listened to it. (not been that big a fan since the Black Album) They just don't have the aggression they had back then. James should have never thought to try and actually sing. Vocal's are no longer Raw. I don't even consider them Thrash any longer. It's just not there. Sorry. Gonna have to agree to disagree. My Opinion.
@@fredalbrecht986 all nightmare long spit out the bone and hardwired song are just as heavy as their 80s music. And now they are 60 so they have to make songs they can still play live at that age.

This is an EXCELLENT review. Smile on my face the entire time. The took me back to the very first time I heard this.
Loved your video! Just a warning for you though...Sepultura is the gateway drug to "anemic" blast beats...you can see how the tempo changes in the song will eventually pull you into that transition as well. Another note...these guys did this in the 80s better than anyone else and they did it without having to tune down their guitars! Plus Igor Cavalera DESTROYS Lars Ulrich, there just is no comparison.
Everyone destroys Lars Ulrich.
When I saw that this song was the pick I felt so much better and had my fingers crossed that you guys would like it. I felt so relieved when you did! Love it 🙂
Great reaction, I enjoyed! Love from Serbia 🇷🇸
You guys need to check out Helmet. Unsung or In The Meantime.

They'll never do a 90's Hardcore Band (debatable I know) although I'm sure they'd love it.

Kottonmouth3 yep saw them live!!!
Yes absolutely! Have you seen the performance of Wasting Away live in France from Cavalera Conspiracy? Really heavy shit! That whole concert was brutal.

Faaawk yes!!!🤘😠🤘
Hell yeah! I still have their Live at Dynamo DVD... Sepultura and Fudge Tunnel colab.. great album!
Beneath the Remains and Arise are their best albums. Good review.
Agreed.
I prefer Schizophrenia cause I just like the raw and filthy feeling of it, musically and production-wise, BTR and Arise are beyond amazing..
Yeah. Really two of my all time favorites
Sepultura has the swing, the groove as you said, is filthy, is an aggressive, not a made groove, is a natural groove...organic.
Cheers, nice to see that you guys got it!!
Sepultura's Arise and Chaos A.D. albums were two of the best albums of early 90's metal. All time classics for me. I've had Chaos A.D. in my cd changer in my car for ten years lol. They just have a grit that was unmatched at the time, and Max's voice was perfect for the music
Totally agree with you dude. Chaos AD and beneath the remains are my favorite Sepultura albums, Nomad from Chaos AD is a masterpiece
Don't sleep on Beneath the Remains Just for inner self and that orgazmatron cover
@@Alfaqwad Yes, Beneath the Remains! A crime that album got recorded with such a shitty sound. You can thank "Justice" for that.

Way to go dude!
Metal does not exist epoch or fashion, it's forever my brother!
Even people who don’t listen to metal can see that Thrashy Classic Sepultura is better than Roots 😏
I think Roots are also kinda cool, the're way different than earlier Sepultura, kinda cool to listen how they evolved...
When I hear this comparison made I feel like it's saying "if you don't follow the approved thrash formula and style you're no longer good"
roots it's a very repetitive song doesn't really show much about old school sepultura
I like Roots a lot but you can’t pass on Dead Embryonic Cells. Great tune!
The "Beneath the Remains/Arise" Aera was the best.
I feel so embraced when watching your vids...It's like you guys take your time to actually *get it*.
I don't know how to explain it...but when I try to show some fellas the groove and beauty of a banger like this one, 10 seconds in it and they're like "nah this is just noise"
But when you guys started headbanging, stopped the music and George went like:
*FFFFFFILLLTTHY!!!*
I'm like YEAH!
THAT'S IT, THESE GUYS GET IT!
Huge fan from Sepultura...we hear you Brasil. Big salute from Argentina
This was great! My favorite Sepultura song ever. Nice reaction.
"Anemic blast beat"!!!
I'm dying! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Had me chuckling too.
Hey Oilid!!! Love your channel!!!!!
"Anemic Blast Beat" *NEEDS* to become a musical term just like 'djent'! =D
That beat IS thrash metal.
@@aseainfo You are 100% right. I wonder why they say "we like thrash," but complain when the song speeds up. I don't get it. If someone doesn't like it fast, then he obviously doesn't like thrash metal.
one thing that makes my heart happy is watching people listen to the shit i grew up on for the first time and love it
Arise album one of the best metal album of the all the time...
YES - ROUNDABOUT!!! YES - ROUNDABOUT!!! YES - ROUNDABOUT!!! YES - ROUNDABOUT!!! YES - ROUNDABOUT!!! YES - ROUNDABOUT!!!

Aw hell yeah
They will go crazy on that bass line
Good call on Yes. Maybe Starship Trooper too.
I’ve been listening to the Arise album since 1992 and I still don’t get enough of it. Best Sepultura album IMHO.
Proud to be Brazilian! Now you guys need to listen to Territory, I think you'd like it because of the mean grooves.

Agree but it's Ben Koller, no e, love the guy so I need to correct you.
Great reaction! Someone may have commented on this already, but the fast thrash beats are part of the dynamics. They make the mid-tempo and groove beats hit you so much harder. Hatebreed made a career out of it. lol

Pantera Mouth for War
I think that people should give some love to Sepultura's Schizophrenia album. There are songs like "Inquisition Symphony" "From the past comes the Storms", " Escape to the Void" and more. I just think Lost in Vegas are not yet ready for such raw stuff..oh well
Monster album!
Can't get rawer than Morbid Visions though
Mitsos Destruktör good album. But the production sounds like a demo.

We need a second chance reaction to Pantera as well. So many great songs to choose from like Cemetary Gates, Domination, 5 minutes alone, A new level, etc.
Let's get a poll going, Pantera is far too good to not have another reaction too. Songs like Domination you would love the heavy chugging riffs from the legendary Dimebag
Cemetery Gates!!!!!!!!
I think they did Domination already?? Maybe not idk
@@rickkelley4618 they've only done walk from Pantera. I 100% agree I think pantera is the biggest/most popular band that they've only done 1 song from them. Domination or cemetary gates!
These guys explained that they wouldn't do more Pantera because of Phil's racist bullshit. Understandable, there's no room for hate in music, it's about community and love. Phil is obviously a troubled soul, and maybe could use a sit down interview with Ryan and George to get to the root of the issue - i do believe people can change.
That said, Pantera was one of the bands that got me into metal as a kid, and though I haven't listened to them in years, Cemetery Gates is fire!! Maybe an instrumental version would be a good compromise?
Much love from cold old Boston
pakakola Phil grew up in New Orleans.. he only joked about racist shit. The song No Good/Attack the radical was specifically stating how bad racism is.. apparently there aren’t many real pantera fans
