You did not change the fan orientation before installing and it is set to blow up into a vent pipe. You obviously don't have a vent pipe and the air from the blower, instead of recirculating, is just blowing up into the bottom of the cabinet.
it's actually blowing in front of the cabinet. It's certainly possible something was installed incorrectly, but it's definitely blowing air out the top.
Actually i meant to put that in the review, that it does sync time, BUT when the time just changed, i still had to manually push a sync button in the app. So it's easier than remembering how to set the time, but you still have to remember to do something.
It can be installed either way, factory set is usually to vent-less. but it is easy to change the fan to vent back, up, or recirculating. Instructions tell you how to do it.
Good review, thank you. What is the height between the range top and the bottom of this microwave and what are your general thoughts about this clearance and when cooking with larger pots, etc?
21.25". Even when we use a tall canning pot, this feels like plenty. The installation guide actually says the bottom edge of your cabinet needs to be 24.2 above the stove, which would put the microwave a lot closer--only about 13.5" clearance. That seems like you wouldn't be able to see the back pots though.
@ScottDriscoll Thanks for the quick reply and additional info. I'm actually right above 30" clearance from range to cabinet, but we do a lot of large pot cooking, which is why I'm leaning towards this lower profile model. I feel like we would rather have that extra 6". Thanks again!
Any chance you can measure the microwave from the wall to the front of the microwave - not including the door? I am building a cabinet to have this microwave sit flush - with just the door sticking out.
Most of it is 17 7/8, however there's a part on the very upper right (I think you might be able to see in the video) that sticks out 18.5. Note that if you were to make the cabinets stick out exactly 17 7/8, the door wouldn't be able to open to it's full extent, since the edge of the door opens past the body when it gets to 90 degrees. Also, depending on how you have it setup, there's a vent on top. I'd go to a store and take a really good look before making something that's a perfect fit.
Are you using the microwave with the fan set to recirculate? Air blowing out the front it will always be louder than if it is blowing into an exhaust duct.
I think it's good. There was maybe one time something was too tall, but i cant remember what. It fits a large starbucks. It just fits lots of things, like tall bowls. Still recommend except for the jet engine fan that I accidentally turn on when opening the door once a week.
Does yours have a noticeably louder hum noise within the first second or two after hitting start, then it eases and there’s just a regular light hum while cooking? I couldn’t quite tell in the video. Mine has a deeper hum for a split second then it sounds normal… every time I start it up. 🤔
@Scott Driscoll did you hook up your vent to a duct system or are you solely venting out the front top circulating back tonthe kitxhen. If you have a exhaust duct you need to plug the vents with the plates they provide
@@jakewilliams7053 Yes, you can configure it to exhaust thru the back or top. I don't have any piping to let it out on top, so it just blows the steam thru a top vent in front of the cabinets. But you can configure it to connect to a vent on top more where the cabinets are.
@@ScottDriscoll Do you have any problems with condensation forming on your cabinets? I've had this for a month and I'm afraid by cabinets will become bad quickly.
We had to replace our traditional over-the-range microwave 2mo ago with this same microwave. I liked the old one better since it has a one touch 30sec, led light inside and under as well. It was a Maytag that came with the house when we moved in, the issue, it just stopped. Touchscreen wasn’t responding. Anyways, back to this Samsung: I have issues to handle, I’m not sure if you had the same as well… 1. As you said, the fan was super loud even at #1 setting. 2. Every time i wipe clean the door, the keys (touch buttons) are super sensitive, always activated that it makes me irritated. 3. When steam from cooking on the stove goes up, it also activates the keys.
I have this one and can’t figure out autocook to save my life. The instruction book is not helpful. Have you figured it out? I just want to soften butter and melt chocolate 🤷♀️
Ok, life has not been as dire as I had feared. It does have a +30s button, but you have to hit start after you hit that. So I usually do +30s, Start, then +30s to get 1 min, and can almost hit those in one motion. But overall you are correct. The WiFi doesn't even update when the time changes because it needs me to actively run the app for that to happen.
I bought the exact same microwave from Samsung never again!!🤬.. Lasted, only one year and a couple months.. Service guy came over to look at it. Cost me$165 Dollars. For the inspection..He said, I need a new door on it. I have it set at twenty two inches.Height Above my stove.stove. Requirement is eighteen inches. The steam from cooking on your stove, fried out the Electrical On the door panel . A new door is $300 . It's going to the curb!!! Never again. Samsung.... Even the samsung service manager slash owner.. That was here said it's a bad design..
Yeah, we're not letting this one go..@spicysan gonna go back to Home Depot again. Make a complaint . Report.and a letter to samsung. They know they have a flaw, they even said it.
Im ashamed to say i purchased this for the “smart” features…. I wish I saw this video and did the research before the install 🤦 At least both Alexa and my Samsung tv can tell me when my food is done though. I guess that’s something 😂
I’m annoyed with this noisy waste of time… the under unit night light are out after only 3 months. And it’s no easy feat to replace expensive halogens Friends with the same over stove model said their lights were blown in 2 weeks. Exhaust fan under performs ;rooms smokey. But it looks pretty if you have only low profile short stuff to heat. 🐝
Awesome review, short and to the point, yes the WiFi is dumb
Thanks for the review. Very helpful.
Does the touch panel light up??
The compact size means less area for air to flow internally, and fan being smaller will also need to spin faster to generate the necessary CFM.

Good review. Tell me that it's not one of the dumbest things that it has wifi, but you still have to set the time manually!

I agree that wifi seems silly on all kitchen appliances, however it may help with apps that repair.
I just purchased this I cannot wait till it gets delivered 🎉🎉🎉
Don't bother, I'd send it back. Read my review on scotts age.
Is this a ventless or recirculating microwave?
Also the Add 30 with immediate start is definitely a good feature it’s missing .
It can be installed either way, factory set is usually to vent-less. but it is easy to change the fan to vent back, up, or recirculating. Instructions tell you how to do it.
How to turn off the recirculating fan and use only the vented one?
Instruction manual doesn't have one.
That WiFi control will be really helpful when you leave for a long weekend and remember that you left you morning coffee heating in the microwave.

Great review, we’re doing a kitchen remodel and I definitely need the countertop space as well. Definitely get this microwave.
Do not buy this samsung microwave.. Read my review on this page. I'm not the only one who's had this issue.
I have a similar question as below. Does the control panel light up? Thank you.
Is your vent hooked up to ducting system outside of your house? If so, is air still air outflow from top of the unit to inside of your kitchen?
Mine's not. Just blows from bottom to top.
Looking into this style as well. If you don’t mind, how deep are your cabinets?
12in to front, about 13 if you also add the door thickness
Been a while since youre video. Any chance for a longer term review? I really want this but im worried about longevity/reliability.
Still good!
@@ScottDriscoll Seeing a lot of mixed reviews on amazon with reliability. Good to know yours is still working well.
I'm so confused about the filters on this and I can't find any replacements online.

I bought mine and the exhaust is on the top, I need it to be on the back, is those 2 metal planks to be removed to fit my wall vent?
Check out the Installation Guide: www.samsung.com/ca/support/model/ME11A7510DS/AC/ (not the manual)
Are you using the microwave with the fan set to recirculate? Air blowing out the front it will always be louder than if it is blowing into an exhaust duct.
Wi-Fi access enables it to support features like automatically turning on the vent van when a compatible Samsung stove or oven is turned on below.
I am using recirculating, that makes sense that that would be louder. And kinda neat if multiple thing coordinate via wifi.
Do you still recommend this microwave? Any regrets not going full size? I’m really interested because of the high cfm vents

@@ScottDriscoll thank you . 🙏
Can you make a video on how to use the features 😂 I can’t figure out how to even melt anything and I’ve had it for a year!
Ha, all i do is +30s, start, +30s. If i ever use anything else ill record it!
So happy u made this I just installed mine and was trying to figure out what the point of the wifi was lol

Hum is consistent on mine, and about the same noise as other microwaves. The fan is just insanely loud, is the fan loud on yours?

Hey man is there a vent on top for exhuast through the cabinets above? Thanks!

How did you set the clock
Does the exhaust vent connected from the top of microwave or back of it?
I bought one. These types of microwaves have the option to connect ducting to the baxk or the top. Also can circulate back into the kitchen
How do you replace the halogens underneath 🤔
Did you ever figure this out, Im trying as well
how do i set the time on it ?? keeps changing after i think i have it set
Does the fan have timer ?
I don't believe so
How do I set the clock?

Wow I believe your model is different from mine... Your fan is way louder, mine states fan control from boost to low.
i have 4 fan levels: extremely loud to jet engine. I suspect/hope it was installed incorrectly.
Did you ever find out why it was so loud /fix it ?
@theskeet, what model is yours?

I rather have the 30 second ADD button than Wi-Fi, what were the engineers thinking🤔💬
