nice video. I am about to do my first LS cam swap so this was useful. done a ton of SB chevs in the past and yep LS is way easier. should still be degreeing the cam in though.
Fantastic informative approach and doing the little extra things so don't have to worry about it later. Good job just one tip idk if I missed it in the video or not but definitely want to mention which way the crank shaft goes for thread wise. I believes it's left had. And is for the cam, sprocket too or just the crank shaft? Thanks
Yeah the only thing that really needs torque specs is the rockers. Everybody’s so concerned about torque specs on water pumps and timing covers etc. no need to overthink it if you’ve been wrenching long enough you know how it’s supposed to feel
So I am an old engine builder and haven't torn into a new ls YET. I have been wondering how you change the cam without pulling the heads. Thanks for teaching an old dog a new trick.
Thanks for the video! Looking to get a cam with the highest lift and longest duration WITHOUT having to change my pushrods, springs, etc.. I have a 2010 VE Commodore/Chevy SS with an L98 (LS2?).
Hey sub bro..new to the channel..have a question.. I have a 5.3 tahoe 2002.. id like to get your advice on picking a cam as an upgrade daily driver.. but with a roar lol .hope to hear from you brother god bless n awesome video on how to do your cam tbe eassssy way.
Can you help with something, a 5.3 with sloppy stage 3 is having idle issues due to the tps. What is the process to set the voltage and what is the voltage? Just wondering cause the voltage has been set to .5-.8 volts first time was .63. And yes the key is cycled so the throttle percent resets to zero after adjusting. Even has a new tps sensor still an issue with idle and coming to a stop it wants to dog out and almost die.
No new lifters and a while lot of missing information and checking to make sure this is a properly built motor. Find it amazing people think you can just throw a new cam in a used motor and think its ok. It is not. Do it right the first time and there isn't a second time.
Obviously not the right question. Your missing tons of information and asking someone thats putting a cam in that don't require springs, and buys eBay and Amazon stuff religiously it sounds like
@@BoBuilds you did a decent job and my question is why don't you mention in your opening title what the actual name of the cam is instead of mumbling it which was very hard to hear, I don't see a listing of the name of the cam or the part number anywhere
Please help been looking at this cam was wondering if the cam will fit an ls3 do u know what stage this would be considered Comp cam 54-469-11 lsr series
i like he he magically skipped over the timing gear stuff which is the most important....Awesome
eh not really. never paid attention to how i installed that gear and i’ve never had a problem
This dudes comment makes ya just say forget the entire video. Its a suicide misson
he put the stock balancer back on too, wild. that thing is trash even if it was brand new
When I saw the thumbnail I was like oh no what about valve float! Then I watched and realized it was a small cam. Great video as always man
Yeah man it's a btr truck designed for ls3 springs but im sure you knew that lol
What are the gains over stock with the truck cam??
Wow I didn’t realize it was that easy !!! Thanks great video 👍🏻
It's very easy when the engine is out of the car

omitted the sequence for Rocker arms very important for torque process.
That's a stage 4 in an ls3. You said no lifter or spring replacement???? How is it running now? I'd like to hear the engine
Stage 4 BTR or TSP?
It’s probably stage nsr btr cam
How many grains of sand were on the end of the new cam after you set it on the floor with the assembly grease?
Did you have pull the oil pump off to get the tensioner off and on ?
Yeah the only thing that really needs torque specs is the rockers. Everybody’s so concerned about torque specs on water pumps and timing covers etc. no need to overthink it if you’ve been wrenching long enough you know how it’s supposed to feel
Don’t you gotta rotate the motor so it’s on the round side not the top end of the cam and then torque it to 22 pounds
So because the new cam is 3 bolt you had to get a new cam gear would it just be like “LS3 3 bolt cam gear replacement”
Great step by step for a novice like myself

Me way you would a old engine.
Thanks for the video! Looking to get a cam with the highest lift and longest duration WITHOUT having to change my pushrods, springs, etc.. I have a 2010 VE Commodore/Chevy SS with an L98 (LS2?).
That is a clean engine.
I can't believe you didn't film alot of that. No new oil pump or timing chain set
Didn’t need either one of those
On the ls2 tensioner did you use the same chain or go with ls2 chain
Is there any difference in the method if using tie-bar lifters instead of lifter trays?
what was your strategy to get the timing chain off
Where did you get the 570 lift cam from? I'm going to do a cam swap on my 2002 chevy.
Squared away video and subscribed!! Can you do a VVT delete video on a 6.0 LS?
It’s not that hard just watch other vids there is plenty
I have a ls out of a 2001 suburban with 225000 miles will I have to do anything different

Whats the size of the rod thanks in advance
Yo so I got a ly6 and I want to put a sloppy stage 2 cam it in do I need new lifters/springs and pushrods?!?!?!
Did you replace chain and crank gear?
Always change lifters with cam on these. Pulling heads is easy.....you done pulled the whole engine.
its an
ls not a sbc no one changes roller lifters SMH
Thank you!
Do you have to degree the cam if you used the TDC method?
Can you post the part number for this cam? Thanks in advance!
What is the type of the Camshaft u installed ?
Which cam do you recommend for a 2003 chevy tahoe 4.8 engine whith 94,000 miles. Nice job by the way👍
What are your plans? Gear stall ect
Stock stall and gears go btr truck stage 1
Keeping the stock head's just going whith a cam for an aggressive sound and a little bit more horse power.
No Cam!!. Leave it alone

Lookup The tuning school tps relearn process
I would post the link but it seems TH-cam doesn’t like that and it keeps deleting it
Appreciate the video
You didn't oil the pulley or the threads on the installer, tighten up man
Hey man I have a question, when I spin the cam shaft over I can still see/ hear the lifters riding on the cam lobes any recommendations?
Wooden dowels.
Thansk

What if the cam is a 630/615 on stock LS3 springs?
It’s like taking a shower and reuse underwear and going on a date.
@reyperez3424 lmao. Friend of mine thought he didn't get springs done with his cam. I could not believe it
u could'a jus spit on it and saved your money....it always works for me
What part of Texas are you in?
What cam and springs do you recommend for a 02 Silverado 4.8?
Obviously not the right question. Your missing tons of information and asking someone thats putting a cam in that don't require springs, and buys eBay and Amazon stuff religiously it sounds like

👍👍👍
What about 600 lift cam?
Will this work with 5.7 LS1
I got the sister engine the l99. Would that still work?
Unfortunately no, the LS3 has a larger cam and stiffer valve springs from factory
Are you looking to make the L99 act like a LS3? If so, you have to pull the heads and tune the DoD/AFM out to run all 8 cylinders at the same time.
if you grease something, never set it down on a dirty ass floor kids
The most important critical price of information that is missed… 5/16 dowel rod!!!!!!!!! Like the 5th video I’ve seen and everyone doesn’t mention it.
There literally in the thumbnail of the video what are you talking about

Thanks for this
How long are those dowel rods in length
Which ebay seller you got that motor from? I need a new motor soon.
AESAUTO PARTS out of Michigan
@@spuddthejeweler9668 thanks
Suhc too much work sohc better d16 power lol
Lmao what if someone d16 swaps a muscle car
@@BoBuilds that would be hilarious 55 Belair with a d16 lol probably wouldn't even have enough tq to get it to roll lol

Yeah let me time travel real quick lol
Please help been looking at this cam was wondering if the cam will fit an ls3 do u know what stage this would be considered
Comp cam 54-469-11 lsr series
So do I not have to make sure that number 1 piston is all the way up. Or does that matter as long as the 2 dots line up
3 o'clock cam dowel
12 o'clock crank dot
Will be dot to dot good to go
Where are u located
When you do the ls2 timing block do you reuse the stock chain ?
Yes
