First, I want to offer my condolences on the loss of Luna. Second, there is at least one "pro" of working in a kwama egg mine: you get to pet the scribs whenever you want.

I'm no expert, but I doubt the Telvanni and Commona Tong would just roll over and die. Obviously, this doesn't actually happen in the game, but drug warlords don't let their competitors walk all over them IRL. See Breaking Bad.

Survival guide: Take the Silt strider to Balmora, suck up to house Hlaalu (never even think of leaving their lands), get a shop apprentice job at something non-heretical like the tailor, haul goods from the river barges to the shop, live in the basement until you can afford your own home and your own candles, DON'T DO SKOOMA WITH CAIUS. Alternatively, sell yourself in Suran for cheap or go to Vivec and become Uncle Crassius' _Dumpling_ and maybe you even get featured in the sequel of his book.

My immune system is so poorly equipped to fight off foreign germs, the least of my worries would be what would happen once I'm there, I wouldn't survive close proximity to a dozen sweaty guys on a damp boat on my way there.

Morrowind survival strategy: become a merchant that operates right next to the Balmoral silt strider. As a real life human I will have no mercantile stat and will be happy to buy things for full price thus ensuring everyone uses my shop. If I run out of money I can just pop over to Caldera and offload all my stuff to Creeper. Or I could just wait a few days for my gold to respawn

Being teleported to Morrowind actually sounds a little bit like going to prison. Don’t cry, it’s a death sentence. Don’t try to debate politics with someone, it’s gonna end badly for you. The food is probably gonna make you sick. Even if the food doesn’t, you’ll probably get sick anyway. And there’s the possibility of becoming someone’s property.
I'd use my homebrewing skills to start producing mead and wine for the locals... no way my personality would get favour with the locals so that's my best bet.
I fully read that as “homewrecking” skills and sat there wondering what taking somebody’s husband or wife has to do with mead production .-.

Considering I have a house telvanni tattoo on my bicep I'd need to head to sadrith mora asap so hlaalu and redoran don't come beat the crap outta me. Which means I'd need money for a teleport from the mages guild which means collecting flowers and mushrooms. Likely also spending most of my money on a cheap levitate spell

As an outsider, it seems like the best bet is to look to settle down in a place like Pelagiad where the locals are friendly. The empire is always hiring and if you need a side hustle, you can just smuggle dwemer artifacts and little statues like everybody else does.
Stealing a candle is just part of taking everything in the census office. Sell that stuff, and buy a lockbreaking scroll with which to get into the warehouse (after paying a measly fine). From then on, you've got decent gear, a good chunk of cash, ingredients, drugs, pillows... what more do you want?
Yam is basically a potato for those poeple that think potatos are hard to cook or taste bland.

I read somewhere on Google that they’re often mistaken for sweet potatoes, but they are in fact different - is this true??
@Angelikatosh there are 2 different things with confusing names in different languages. In Russian, ямс and батат. In other languages "yam" or similar looking word can imply "sweet potato", but without seeing one irl (or a good photo) I can't be sure what they mean. It should also be noted that ямс is quite poisonous if cooked improperly. So good luck to those who are going to survive on ash yams in Morrowind 😅
@@Angelikatoshok, I checked what Google shows as "yam" and what as "sweet potato". Seems to be correct. Sweet potato (although it's not a potato at all) is the safe option and it has sweetish taste (which I don't like in a vegetable, but it's good for health). Yam is the one with a bland taste and specific very distinct texture (it feels drier in your mouth than you would expect). Some people don't like it at all, others (me included) find it pleasant. Just cook it long enough to be safe.
@@Angelikatosh Good question... I only encountered Yam and sweet potatos in Asia. I live in Europe and it is quiet hard to find any of those here in store. I would say the confusion is about right, because for me both taste similar while the texture is somewhat different.
Arguably the character you play as in Morrowind isn't the Nerevarine either, but just someone who happen to tick all the marks needed for the situation. Self-fulfilling prophecy and all that, I mean, just look at how many people Azura went through before you got the "job" done.
I'd survive easily. I'd just immediately create a spell of luck 100pts on self and soultrap on target and cast it until nobody can hit me and all my hits land, then raise my willpower, intelligence and strength the same way so that I have virtually infinite stamina, damage and Magicka.
Then I'm a god, and how can you kill a god? Such a grand and intoxicating innocence
But what if real life humans have 0 magicka?

Find the shrine to Hermeus Mora and tell him the future plot of Oblivion and Skyrim in exchange for money and or power.
I would then leave Morrowind before dying of blight and Cliff racer attacks.
I considered this, but dealing with daedric princes, especially Mora, is too risky for me.

I survived Fort Leonard Wood, I can handle Morrowind.
Honestly, to live there would be fantastic... even if it were just briefly living.
We would be in good company indeed if we got corprus and went to the corprusarium, but I think we'd be good company for Yagrum Bagarn too! He'd probably be just as interested in talking to someone about our world and everything in it as we would be in hearing about the dwarves from him

It might be boring, but there is a perfect survival strategy you (and the other commenters) overlooked. If you can make it to Ebonheart, you can join the Imperial Cult and work as an Alms collector. The cult basically provides everything you could need as a random poor schmuck wandering in suddenly, and you can even contribute to your own subsidy by collecting Alms. As for how to spend your time after securing your basic needs... Well, considering the Imperial Cult is dedicated to helping the poor and giving them an education, evidence of which you can find in Ald'Ruhn's mages guild central hall, you can likely become educated enough (competency in speaking and written language mainly) to pursue a career and even your own business. The benefits are fairly long term, and won't endear you to die-hard locals, but once the Nerevarine takes care of the Blight Vvardenfell will open up from quarantine again and you can GTFO to safer lands. Granted, the Oblivion Crisis is coming up soon, so learning self defense skills such as weapon and armor usage (magic is unlikely to be feasible due to soul metaphysics and setting screwiness) would be a good idea. You could even move to southern Morrowind and befriend argonians if you really wanted to try and metagame things, but i wouldn't give it high odds of working. As for alternative Oblivion Crisis survival strategies, i'm not too sure how that'd go. I haven't played oblivion in ages and don't remember how bad the oblivion gates get outside of some vague lore from Skyrim telling us it was bad.
I may have overthought this.

If I was dropped into Vvardenfell, first thing I’d do is hike over to NW of Balmora and grab that ebony blade just laying in the mountain range.

I would just go to Vivec City and troll the shit out of the Ordinators, with really good dad jokes. They've always come across as people with a good sense of humor (sarcasm, of course). I think I would either be under arrest and dead by about the 3 dad joke. 😂
My strategy, assuming mechanics stay roughly the same?
Travel via silt strider (I can scrounge up 20 septims) to Balmora. Make friends. Become an associate of the Mage’s Guild and Fighter’s Guild immediately and profess my faith to the Temple or Cult. (We’re assuming that doing both would end poorly.) Utilize the opportunities provided to seek apprenticeship as an alchemist. Even if I can’t make a potion myself at first, my memory of reagent properties would likely impress Ajira or Nalcarya enough to accept me. Invest every septim I can to further my alchemical journey and purchase training in a wide array of beneficial skills. Practice magic every day, assuming that I can learn it. Focus on utility (alteration/mysticism) and healing (restoration) first. Develop into a skill-monkey and start to build up some capital. With some capital built up it should be fairly easy to slide into House Hlaalu. The goal isn’t to make waves, just to cruise along and become comfortable.
I can’t survive 10 minutes on easy mode as the nerevaine. No way I’m surviving irl.
My current skills? I don't think the residents of Vvardenfell would take kindly to a school counselor with a passion for fire dancing.
Yams are called sweet potatoes here in the northern US and are frequently served at Thanksgiving dinners. They are an acquired taste but pretty good if prepared right.
Yams and sweet potatoes are not actually the same thing: yams are from several species in the Dioscorea genus, while sweet potatoes are Ipomoea batatas. They do, however, look (and taste, from what I’ve read) similar enough that they’re often mistaken for one another. I’ve had sweet potatoes several times throughout my life, but never managed to get my hands on an actual yam to try; they’re quite hard to find in the northern hemisphere, most things being sold as “yams” being sweet potatoes instead.

Great video, but I'd do pretty well in Morrowind because my real life skills are well developed. But the real kicker, is my knowledge of Morrowind itself. For less than 300 septims in starting cash, you can easily ascend to godhood.
1. Steal the limeware platter from the census office
2. Give fargoth his ring back
3. Sell the limeware platter to Arille
4. Hop on a silt strider to wolverine hall
5. Join the mages guild. I'm already an "alchemist" (studied chemistry)
6. Take the free alchemy set from the mages guild in Caldera
7. Make a bunch of stamina potions from kwama eggs and crab meat
8. Sell the potions to Creeper in Ghorak Manor, Caldera
9. Buy Netch Leather and Bloat from the imperial shrine in wolverine hall
10. Become the most powerful being in Nirn by repeatedly making and consuming intelligence potions
I didn't even have to look any of that up. It may take me a few days to figure out the formula for strength potions, because I can't remember that recipe. But fortify personality is green lichen and stoneflower petals, both of which are available in the temple at Balmora. When your personality is at godlike levels, people will trade you anything if you give them 1 gold. Guards will pretend you're not a criminal, as long as you don't talk to them. People will choose not to attack you, even if you successfully taunt them. When I crack the fortify luck potion, then everything becomes easy.
The first thing I would do in Morrowind is talk to Socucius Ergalla.
I'd let out a long string of curse words and then proceed to find a healer to help with my physical issues before i try to do anything else 😂

I figured I’d use my sturdy cuteness and general charisma to make a friend. Even out of pity. That way I could learn the language and work my way up. I’d supplement that with hunting.
I mean, Jiub was a down in the dumps skooma addict who did not have the luxury of being released but spent his time in Vivec's jail, so he had his skills decreased as well, and he decided to commit genocide against the cliff racers and as a result was hailed as a saint

Since I'm pretty strong, I'd either join the legion and become a guard or I would be some kind of farmer but they got slaves so maybe not a good idea. I mean there are plenty ways to make a living in morrowind if you treat it like real life. Or perhaps I'd join one of the temples (most likely the legion again lol). Would be cool to have access to the actual lore tbh. Might also be able to learn some magic perhaps too?
If I got to the point where I could basically make my way around and stumble through the language, I'd likely join the Imperial Cult and try to live in a town like Pelagiad or Caldera where outlanders and Imperial culture are more standard.

Step 8. Soul trap and kill rats with the bound dagger that teaches you how to use it
Step 9. Catch a blight disease from a rat
Step 10. Die horribly from a cliff racer trying to make it back to town
in all seriousness soul gem farming is an infinite money glitch

In the beginning, I’d settle in Seyda Neen, mingle, and find some work cleaning the huts until I can afford a ride on the silt strider, and then go straight to Suran to look for a bardic job at the House of Earthly Delights. I can play guitar, so I’m getting good with a lute. I can also take that skill to any of the major cities. I could probably also work some odd jobs for the Thieves Guild because of the tattoo I have, so that’s also good for money.
I think I may have played too much Morrowind. 2000+ hours doesn’t help.

He gestures towards the east, where the path leads to a small cluster of houses. He mimics eating and makes a motion of coins exchanging hands.

Nod and smile, giving a thumbs-up to show your gratitude.

Current Surroundings:
North: Office (quill and inkpot symbol).
South: Dock area continues.
East: Path leading to houses and a lighthouse.

Stay observant and respectful to avoid any trouble with the guard and go into the quill and inkpot building

You:
You head north from the dock towards the building with the quill and inkpot symbol as directed by the guard. The building is modest but well-kept, made of sturdy wood and stone. As you enter, you see a few desks, stacks of paper, and a few officials working.
Inside the Office:
North: A desk with an official working, who looks up as you enter.
South: The door you just came through.
East: Shelves filled with scrolls and documents.
West: Another desk with an official writing something.
You:
You approach the nearest official and use gestures to indicate that you need a place to stay. You mimic sleeping and point to yourself, hoping they understand your need for shelter.
The official:
The official looks at you curiously and then nods, understanding your gestures. He pulls out a piece of parchment and begins to draw a simple map. He marks an "X" on the map and hands it to you, indicating that this is where you can find lodging.
You:
You take the map and smile at the official in gratitude. Looking around for another exit, you notice a back door to the east. It seems to lead outside, possibly to a courtyard or another part of the village.
Current Surroundings:
North: Desk with an official.
South: Door leading back to the dock.
East: Shelves with scrolls and documents.
West: Another desk with an official.
You:
You exit through the back door into a small courtyard. The courtyard is modest, with a few benches, some potted plants, and a well in the center. A narrow path leads from the courtyard to a cluster of buildings.
Courtyard:
North: Path leading to a cluster of buildings.
South: Back door leading to the Census and Excise Office.
East: A small gate that seems to lead to the main street.
West: A bench with a few potted plants.
You:
You take a moment to scan the courtyard for anything useful or valuable to acquire. The courtyard is simple, and the most prominent features are the well, the benches, and the potted plants. You notice:
The Well: Appears to be a simple stone structure, likely filled with water but no obvious valuables.
The Benches: Made of wood, old but sturdy, nothing left on them.
Potted Plants: Contain common herbs and flowers, no obvious signs of valuable items.
You:
Finding nothing of significant value or use, you turn your attention to the small gate leading to the main street. You open the gate and step onto the main street of the coastal village.
Location:
Main Street, Coastal Village
Current Surroundings:
North: The path leading towards the cluster of buildings, as indicated on the map.
South: The direction back towards the docks and the Census and Excise Office.
East: A few small shops and homes, one with a sign that has an image of a loaf of bread.
West: More homes and a path that seems to lead out of the village.
People Nearby:
A man in yellow armour walking down the street.
A blue-skinned man with red eyes sitting on the steps of a building.
You:
You walk east toward the shop with the sign depicting a loaf of bread. The shop is a small, quaint bakery with the smell of fresh bread wafting out. Inside, you see shelves lined with various baked goods: loaves of bread, rolls, and pastries.
Inside the Bakery:
North: Counter with a shopkeeper standing behind it.
South: Door leading back to the main street.
East: Shelves filled with different types of bread.
West: A small table with a few chairs.
You:
You approach the counter and show the shopkeeper your baseball cap, making it clear that you would like to trade it for something to eat. The shopkeeper, an older woman with a kind face, examines the cap with curiosity. She seems unsure about its value but eventually nods, indicating a willingness to trade.
Shopkeeper:
The shopkeeper gestures toward a basket of fresh rolls, suggesting you can take a few in exchange for your cap.
Items Available for Trade:
Fresh bread rolls.
Current Status:
Hunger: Not hungry yet.
Thirst: Not thirsty yet.

You:
You find several sturdy sticks and begin fashioning a makeshift fishing spear, using your shoelace to tie sharpened sticks to the broom handle.

You reach the lighthouse, a tall stone structure with a warm light at its peak. The rocks by the shore are jagged, and the water laps against them rhythmically.
There are no dangerous creatures in sight, and the area seems peaceful.
You:
You cautiously approach the water, readying your spear. The water is clear enough to see fish swimming around the rocks.
You make several attempts to spear the fish, which proves challenging due to their quick movements and the refraction of light in the water.
After some persistence and patience, you manage to spear two fish. It takes a considerable amount of time and effort, but your determination pays off.

You gather some rocks and twigs, using your lighter to start a small cooking fire.
While the fish are cooking slowly on the sticks, you decide to explore the nearby area for any collectable plants.

These large, broad leaves are visible in a shady area under some trees.

You find some green stalks with a soft, spongy texture near the marshy ground.

A mudcrab scuttles nearby but keeps its distance.
A fisherman in simple garb walks along the shoreline, casting a curious glance at your activities but continuing on his way.
You:
You return to the fire, finding the fish cooked to perfection.
Using your iron dagger, you cut open the bread rolls and lightly toast them over the fire.
You add the cooked fish and some of the foraged plants (e.g., Hackle-Lo Leaf for a leafy crunch) to make a toasted fish sandwich.

Baker's Reaction:
She looks intrigued and slightly confused.
After a moment, she examines the sandwich closely, then tastes a small bite.
Her eyes widen in pleasant surprise, and she nods appreciatively.

The baker seems interested in buying the sandwich.
She offers you two small gold coins from her apron pocket.

Journey to the General Store
The path back to the shop is clear of critters.
The villagers continue to glance curiously but remain non-hostile.

The shopkeeper is behind the counter, arranging goods.
You enter and greet him, pointing to yourself and saying "Burt" again.
He gives a small nod, then points to himself and says, "Arrille."
You:
You give him a thumbs up and smile.
Arrille seems slightly more at ease with your presence, though still curious about your strange appearance and behavior.
Presenting the Plants:
You lay out the plants you gathered on the counter, miming the act of selling them.
Arrille's Reaction:
He examines each plant carefully, nodding in recognition.
Transaction:
After some deliberation, he takes out coins and places them on the counter for each plant:
Black Anther (value 2 gold): 2 small gold coins.
Coda Flower (value 5 gold): 5 small gold coins.
Corkbulb Root (value 5 gold): 5 small gold coins.

@@driver3899 You definitely lucked out with the hackle-lo and the fishing, and I have to say that that baker seems like one of the cooler people in all of Morrowind. Someone needs to add her to the game. Anyway, I hope your character's good fortune continues.
@@David_Alvarez77 Yeah I was going to tell AI that she doesn't exist but for some reason she seemed to fit so I just went with it because I was hungry IRL and fresh bread sounded so good. Now though it would almost seem weird if she wasn't there. And I mean maybe the town has changed a little over the years since the game came out

I really did get lucky with the haul of plants but eventually I will come across something bad roaming around the outskirts and then my goose is probably cooked
I had thought I could make a go of it as a traveling toasted fish sandwich salesman but for 2 gold each... I don't know, selling the plants instead of using them for salad seems a lot more profitable.
If only they had cheese wheels in Morrowind though, then I could really get a good price for some toasted cheese sandwiches
I do have another idea but its pretty dangerous and all I really have so far is an iron dagger that now smells like fish

at least if you became a vampire or a werewolf you'd gain their strength and immunity to other disease, as an outlander your survival prospects probably just improved. especially for vampirism in morrowind... 🧛
Instead of real life university, I would have went to the mages guild or house telvanni. If I didn’t die as a test subject at least I would have powers unlike with real life school

Cliff racers are inevitable. At least you can just avoid the water to avoid slaughterfish.
I would punch mudcrabs to hone my hand to hand skill, (easily the most underrated and overpowered melee skill at higher levels) then adventure in the grazelands for alchemy ingredients, train alchemy and make enough coin to buy a nice house in Suran. Sounds lovely.

Best bet if you were to suddenly appear is that a researcher takes interest in your strange speach, and your stories of a distant land.
Other than that my goal would be to get a job fishing on a small boat, preferably if I could get one of my own. I already know how to sail and I might be able to recreate some of our modern sailing gear with their old tech.
Look man, I told the truth. I would cry because I'm not in a familiar place anymore. I do the same thing in our world. After a quick cry where no one can see me (I hope), I would probably try my best to communicate but I haven't studied very many other languages so I will probably get lost right quick.
And like one of my current favotite songs says, why give a speech if crying works so well? (Ironically, found that song because of a Morrowind animatic set to it.)
I have mild training in metalworking, architecture, and I am a drafter, so maybe I could get myself in a position similar to the engineering field of our world? I don't know if I could properly take care of a Netch, especially right away, but I do like that they purr and find them to be quite interesting creatures.
But yeah, I wouldn't survive Morrowind.
