What's not being said here is why the homes are up for sale in Squirrel Hill is because the ground is shifting because of the weathering and erosion.

Actually, Sq Hill has a pretty tight housing market to this day, because it's been a desirable neighborhood since it was developed in the early 20th century. Your "explanation" doesn't hold water, or I would have heard of it in the 60+ years I've lived there.

Great stuff! I moved to Ben Avon. Shadyside and Mt lebanon were on the list, and got the same epic house (Tudor / Victorian style, age, lot, trees, and other features),. A 5 mile away from the light rail (can take a bus to get to it), stadiums, and parks. It felt like the right choice. A lot of great choices in Pittsburgh, it was difficult for sure.

I had to give up on my old house - it needed too much work for me. On we friendfrom Seattle bought a house in Squirrel Hill - he was excited about the relatively low prices compared to Seattle. First thing - the Furnace Boiler died as soon as he moved in. Second - the Slate Roof had to be replaced. Then the old electrical system had to go...He sold and moved back to Washington State.
