    Great work freeing those plants! Everyone please use safety goggles. Those rocks, ceramic pots, etc can shatter into tiny pieces.

    Great job Erika 👍 Putting glue on plants like that is like keeping a dog in a crate and never letting it out. It's cruel. I don't know who came up with that stupid idea but I think whoever did should be glued into a pot and left there. I have a little Samurai Dwarf, about the third of the size of yours, it's such a tough little plant, I love it 😊

      ThisIsMyTH-camName awh I know, it’s so sad 😢 I was a little surprised to find as many roots as I did with all that glue on top. The crime matches the punishment so it sound good to me 💁🏼‍♀️

    Gah. I hate when they glue rocks in plants... it's actually a huge pet peeve of mine! I don't understand why they would do that! Unfortunately and sadly when I see that. Going on I usually walk by the plant and don't even give it a second look so power to you giving it a little bit of wrench Grease!

    Ooh you lucked out with 3 Samurai’s 🥳 It’s on my wish list. Unfortunately our Lowe’s is kinda crappy. We never get decent plants 😐 I like EB Stone cactus mix. I do still amend my soil with worm castings, and fine orchid bark. I’ve tried different cactus soils, and so far this is my fav. I still need to test Proven Winners and Black Gold. I do not use miracle grow ever, just not a fan. Happy Planting 💜🌺🌸

      Hanalei Designs I was really shocked to see them there! Sometimes randomly amazing plants pop up 😱 EB stone cactus mix it is then! Adding amendments is so fun to me so I don’t mind adding worm castings & orchid bark. Thank you for letting me know 😊

      Erika Lodes your welcome 😝. It’s hard to believe I just live like 3 hrs north and we don’t get cool plants here in central Cali 😕. When we do drive south to visit family, I try to stop at a garden center in hopes to find cool plants like a samurai 😉. Yes you should have wore eye protection 🤓. Talk to you later 😍

    I bought a coral cactus with the glued down rocks. I kept watering it whenever I thought it might need water. The glue on the rocks never loosened with water and since I couldn’t check the moistness of the soil it got root rot and I had to throw it away.

    • @wmnpwr98
      @wmnpwr98 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Stacey Jean so sad! I don’t get why they are gluing rocks over the plant. I had purchased a sansevieria cylindrical and I had the same problem. And there was no drainage hole in the pot! I eventually picked the rock down and freed the plant before it nearly died!

    I did that with a few air plants. They came in little hollow tree stumps and as “hair” on ceramic figures. The glue was water soluble. I sprayed and soaked the planters as not to damage the plants. It took a few hours. But now they’ve been growing with no glued in restrictions. Rachel.

Um, you might check Walmart where they have the little pans for an oil change! LOL didn't that work so well! Maybe you could put a hazard sign on top of the used gravel in that pan because I've noticed most of the people that watch these plant videos also have a cat!! lol

    I am having the same problem. I cannot get through the "glued stuff" on the top of the potted snake plant. I have tried everything (same as you did). Today I will start all over. I even tried to break the plastic pot it was in...no luck, the plastic was too thick and hard. I'm afraid I will damage the plant by the time I finish. I will be on a mission today.
    Thanks...It's good to know someone else is having the same problem.

    I like the EB stone cactus soil! It has a lot of pumice in it which I prefer to perlite. I find it’s much faster draining and I don’t need to add much perlite if any at all. I have found it at Green Thumb and another small family owned nursery in Santa Clarita

    i've seen another video (can't remember who) with the same issue.. seems like there HAS to be a simpler way for bigger stores to package/sell plants.. might be easier to try going along the sides with something smaller like an ice pick or thin screwdriver instead of the butter knife (less surface area = less resistance), but same basic idea.

    I love these fat snake babies!! A basic mix I've used is equal parts peat/coco coir, perlite, and fine orchid bark. It's super well draining and if you buy your stuff in bulk rather than pre-mixed, it's a lot cheaper! Also, when you mix your own, you can always add a bit more of one ingredient than another depending on the plant. I'm sure these three samurai will do just fine in the mix you put them in though!

    (Note to self) create Barbie doll size Jack Hammer, market it in garden centers as plant accessory. Create a store display that has a Malibu Barbie with big straw hat and bathing suit using said jack hammer on poor defenseless asphalt topped potted plant. Go to same described Garden Center and buy patio set, barbecuer and tea set to make lemonade. Go home use said articles and wait to become rich. ( how much would it cost? First things first - patent, pencil drawing, prototype and testing)

      L Garden it was a good deal for the plant & pot, it’s just unfortunate there was glue. I think this one was easier to free than some others I’ve seen, so that’s why I decided to purchase 😬 yess! I need to soak the pots still

    Put your tools away people! Someone already stated this but please know that the glue is water soluble. Pour a little water and let it sit for a minute and all the pebble mulch will easily loosen with your fingers. You dont have to remove it the plant will get plenty of water when watering but checking the soil is definitely impossible.

  • @tams7411
    @tams7411 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Okay but, WHY? What's wrong with regular old soil... Why do they need to use glued rocks???
    Edit: ooh, maybe you're meant to water them from the bottom? Like, putting water on a dish and placing the pot on top so it can soak it up? Idk, I still don't like the glued rocks.

  • @anothernight82
    @anothernight82 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    🤷🏻‍♀️😩 Just why?! I don’t understand what made them think it was a great idea to use glue? Plants grow, so it would be hard to transfer it to a bigger plant pot if there’s glue restricting the plant’s growth and one’s ability to remove the plant from the pot.
    Good job freeing the plants! 🌱🎉

    why?.. just...why?.. i never seen glued suff on plants' soil, this makes no sense.
    i watched several videos of a guy who keeps succulent greenhouse, he said the only ready to use option is Lechuza-pon. sounds ok if you grow tiny succulents in tiny pots, but otherwise... not really.

  • @teampotato5006

    My question is, why? What's the point of glueing down plants? I don't see the appeal in glued down plants, much like I don't see the appeal in fake plants, or painted plants. Like, what kind of level of perfectionist must you be to glue down PLANTS.
