Hi Lyn, your tiger aloe is just so healthy & beautiful. I got one of these (pup) but the flowers did not last long at all. They shrivelled up. Do I cut off the stalk or shall I leave it? For a tiny tiger aloe, the stem is quite thick. Many thanks.
So happy you love the Tiger Aloe :-D yes you can cut off the flower stalk once the flower has died and I bet the flower was a beauty its a shame that they don't last long though as they are so pretty :-D thanks so much for your wonderful comment and for watching and sending you an abundance of love and happiness and PLANT POWER from the Emerald Isle for a Sun filled Sunday XXXXX
Absolutely gorgeous ! I cannot believe how large and beautiful she is, absolutely amazing, ! I was wondering if you can share with me how you go about your watering process as i have one as well, shes new, and im a little worried, because i didnt have much luck with my last aloe variegata, but then again it could be because she had already been over watered at my work (florist here) lol, anywqys *anyways let me know, it will be much appreciated, by me and im sure by my aloe :) havea good one! And keep up the awesome gorwing *growing :)
Also as a side note, it is getting lots of bright, mostly indirect light, and is in a pot with drain wholes, and is currently still in the soil it came which is some kind of cactus soil, with one or two pups around an inch tall with her.
Vick V Thank you so much for your lovely comment and for watching :-) When it comes to watering I keep it completely dry during the Winter months from October to late Jan and only start to water it from mid Feb when it starts to come into bud for the Spring, I keep mine in a cool conservatory though but if you have your Aloe in a warm room you may need to give it just a small bit of a light watering during the winter months just enough to stop it from shrivelling, if you have your plant in a bright well lit spot that sounds wonderful although if you could place it in a place that also gets some direct sunshine during the day will encourage it to flower :-) Thats wonderful that your aloe has pups too, strangely enough this Aloe of mine although large, and I have had her many many years has never had any pups yet, yes a cactus mix soil of well drainage is the best, I mix up my own of John Innes no2 with perlite and grit :-) Sending you tons of love and Happy Growing from Ireland for a wonderful week ahead XXXXX
Thanks! But wen u say. You keep it dry from oct to jan do you not water it at all? And how often do you water it during the spring/summer and approximately how much? And would i be giving less or more since mine is only about 7inches tall?
Vick V I keep mine completely dry and don't water it at all from Oct-Jan as it is kept in an unheated conservatory, and it gets very cold during the winter months, but if you have your plant in a heated room, I would keep the compost just very lightly watered during the winter months, but letting the soil in the pot completely dry out between waterings, In the Spring and summer I will water it every week but only when the soil in the pot is completely dry, Hope this helps :-) Let me know if you need any more info :-) Sending tons of love for a wonderful week ahead XXXXX
Hi there :-D these plants are not cold hardy and are best kept indoors in Winter but can be kept outside in Spring and Summer and early Fall if they can be protected from too much rain, but if you live in a climate that has winter temperatures that drop below 7C / 45F if safer to bring them indoors over Winter, thanks so much for watching and have a wonderful Sunday XXXX
@@desertplantsofavalon you are very welcome and thanks for replying. I live in UK so definitely lots of rain. I may get a cold frame for summer and spring especially on changeable days. But indoors in autumn and winter.
Hi there, I've got one of these plants a sucker/pup cutting from my Nana's large plant. How old would you say yours is on this video? So i know how long i'll have to wait for flowers. My brother managed to germinate two from seed also.
D Pictures Thanks so much for your comment and question :-) My Aloe is about 15 years old, and when I bought her she was a tiny pup, That's brilliant your brother has germinated two from seed, although I have had this plant for many years it has taken this long for it to flower, although I know they can flower much younger than this especially if they are given plenty of light :-) Sending you much love and happiness for 2014 :-) XXXX
