  • I've had these pinguiculas for over a year & they have been needing a good clean up for a while now. In my opinion, they look better when they're not so clustered & clumped together. Now I have wayyy too many pings but I love them all!

Hello! Love your video:) I just wanted to add some additional ping info. It seems that one of your pings is going through winter succulent stage aka dormancy. Usually during those times you don’t want your ping to be sitting water cuz it will rot them. People let them dry out and sprinkle them with water during that stage. Once they start coming out, their big sticky leaves will come back out. You should check out California carnivores! They have a lot of great info abt certain types of ping care :). Hopefully this helps 😅

Those are really good in wide shallow bulb pans or dish type pans. You could even use those plastic drip trays and put one in another that is larger. Or another idea is a large plastic pot like 8 inch and then use a knife or dremel tool and just cut it around so it's only 2-3 inches high to make your own shallow wide bulb pan. Another option is those clay self watering african violet pots for a fancy option. They are sometimes at lowes and home depot for around 10 dollars. They are good for these because with low to no fertilizer and distilled water the clay wont get clogged with minerals and it will last forever. Even with african violets those clay pots stop working after awhile.

A cheaper option to distilled water and more readily available option to rain water is reverse osmosis water, basically what you get from one of those watering stations in the five gallon jugs for about a dollar. And you might not even need that if the total dissolved solids in your tap is below 50. You can even just install a reverse osmosis system under your sink for cheap.

I bought some teeny tiny baby pings earlier this year and they've been growing a lot but over the last couple weeks the lower leaves are getting little holes in them. I only use distilled water and I'm not sure what's happening. It's that a normal part of their life?

If you live somewhere with a cooler climate I would wait until spring so you can avoid the dormancy. Also I think when it gets too cold they aren’t really for sale as much so you’ll probably have more options in the spring
