    I expect this mower will last several seasons with decent care. th-cam.com/users/postUgkx1VWTrayKBdCKAjzAcZ_Eg4dhHTae3LkN also recommend Also, I ran across the problem with it not starting the 2nd time I used it. There is a safety switch which is pushed in by the chute or mulching piece being attached to the deck. I took the cover off and it wouldn't start. Put it back on, no problem. It takes only a minute with 2 easily accessible wingnuts and no tools. This mower starts up first crank each time and it is a joy to use. It also mows in reverse by putting the key to the reverse area after starting and pushing in the triangular button. It will stay in reverse mode until you turn it off. All in all, for my homeowner needs, I really like this mower-and at 70 bucks a cut here in Miami, it's already more than 1/3 paid for itself in a month.

    I've been troubleshooting this issue all day. Should have checked the control voltage first on the solenoid. I was getting 12VDC on the smaller wires on top of the solenoid and no bueno. So that told me it was definitely the solenoid. Your video helped, but might want to put checking the voltage on the control side of the solenoid to make sure it reads 12VDC when you turn the key. Then I tried jumping the power on the solenoid to verify I do get a good start to make 100% sure that's my only problem. Thanks for your video!

      @@michaelcody3829 only a few things it could be. One is a loose connection. The other is the starter, and the other is the starter switch. If shorting out the solenoid works, then you starter is good. I'd try replacing the switch. Here's a link for the S240 switch. amzn.to/49778BG

    Does it matter the placement of the two leads? Or can the lead that goes to the starter be screwed in on the top, and the one for the battery on the bottom? I'm asking because we may have switched the placement. it does crank but it just won't start the engine.

    • @PirateStu
      @PirateStu  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not 100% sure, but I think it does. If reversed, your starter could run backwards, which means your motor is going backwards, and it won't work right that way.

      I'm not sure what you have or how to help. The solenoids on cars are usually on the starter, so it's possible. I would look for 2 wires that are about the same size, and assume that those are the two that you want to connect/short, but please do so at your own risk!

  • @SweetProductDeals

    When I do the screwdriver/solenoid test, it just makes a loud squealing noise and nothing is turning. Any ideas? Starter? I want to see if the shaft on the starter is stuck in the up or down position but I don't know how to access it. That is where I'm at. Any suggestions? The battery is @ 12.1 volts. Later: I took out the main engine cover, sprayed the top parts of starter with liquid wrench and waiting few minutes and the mower started right up. I noticed when I went to put the circular grated cover on the very top of the unit, that it left a 1/4" gap, so I flipped it upside down and now there is a nice seal around the edge so leaves and sticks can't get in. I thought this was really peculiar the way it was designed. It's the E130. I was also wondering, don't we have the technology to make things that don't rust and can last a lifetime? It's time for our civilization to switch to making products that last instead of manufacturers making products that need to be replaced every 5 to 10 years due to rust and worn out parts. Tell the globalist's that and be sure to mention the climate change hoax. They want to use the climate change hoax when it benefits them only.

    • @PirateStu
      @PirateStu  หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you have to use a screwdriver to actuate the solenoid, then either the solenoid is bad, or possibly the starter switch. What happens after you bypass it is a different problem, so it could be a bad starter, but if it was only the starter, then the switch would still activate the solenoid and THEN you'd hear the loud squealing noise. Make sense? I'd say you have 2 problems.

  • @bensmith2596

    so when the cylinoid is not working its just NOTHING for sound, if its the starter does it make the initial sound but will not engage?

    • @PirateStu
      @PirateStu  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Correct, if the solenoid isn't working, you get nothing. If the solenoid is working and you turn the key, you'll probably hear a click, and then if you hear nothing, it's probably the starter.

    • @PirateStu
      @PirateStu  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It could be a shorted solenoid, or a shorted switch. Try disconnecting the plug on the back of the ignition switch. If it still tries to start, it's probably the solenoid. If it doesn't, then you've probably got a bad switch.

      I've probably had it for 4 years. It handles hills pretty well and I think it would make it up the one in your video. I'd recommend checking the "Drive" belt.
