      Same engine basically. The Essex V6. Came in 3.8, 3.9, and 4.2 liters. In both longitudinal and transverse configuration.

    How many screws are holding the control down? I'm trying to get my lower intake off and it's stuck in that area. Having the hardest time! Cannot find any videos on this. 04 mustang V6 3.8 I'm about to break the bushings myself at this point but afraid it's not only that because my luck. 🤦🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

      Do you mean the IMRC black box? At least 2 I think. Maybe 3.

    Do you have to remove just the upper intake manifold or the lower as well to access the bushings? I have a rwd F150.

      Just the upper intake manifold. You can access the bushings and replace them with the rest of the engine untouched.

    rock auto has a five pack of these bushings for about $4. Under "Engine: Intake Manifold Vacuum Retainer Bushing" checked part number in item description and reference matched #F5RZ9F955AB

      Bushings must be OEM. Tried the aftermarket ones and the rods fell out of the actuator arms. OEM ones are manufactured differently and don’t let the rods fall out.

      Shawn you just proved that oem are better why risk it and do this job again

    • @SVT232V6
      @SVT232V6  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@jvst20051 for this job, I only use OEM for that exact reason. I ain’t gonna do the job twice just to save a few bucks, it’s gonna cost more money and time in the end doing it over.

      Yup. One and done my friend.

      Ford bushings are what 9 bucks? Just get the fomoco bushings. Not worth it. I have 07 F150 4.2 it has 212k miles, and I've replaced the bushings once at 161k still going strong.

    did some 00 models not have the rods and the black box?

      99/00 I don’t think had IMRC. It was 01-Up.

      @blitz8619 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No I have a 98 it has a imrc it's just vacuum actuated. And has one on each side.
      The dormant bushings are fine too. #47099.
      The bushings have to be installed first in hole. I think you installed it first on rod and forced it in hole which ruined it

      Got a 97 f150 with the 4.2. It has 2 seperate actuators for each cylinder bank

    i got the bushings in but the little arm isn’t going into the bushing

    • @SVT232V6
      @SVT232V6  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are they OEM bushings or aftermarket? Had problems with the aftermarket ones, the actuator arms would fall out of the bushings even when new. OEM ones fit perfect and the actuator arms stayed in the bushings no problem.

    • @bryangarcia2111
      @bryangarcia2111 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are OEM bushings I tried it again but the actuator arms don’t wanna go into the bushings.

    If it was on the engine you'd have those intake holes covered!

    U don’t need ford parts for this , goto auto zone, the part #47099 they work the same as the ford pieces.

      I’ll look into that. I sold it to a family member years ago. Ended up getting an 04 Mach 1 for only $5K. I have another 3.8 in the garage that I just finished painting. Might do some GoPro recording with that one 👍
