      Who are everywhere, pedophiles or the Japanese? If you mean pedophiles, then that proves my point, not yours. You said that America was full of pedophiles, and I was just pointing out the irony in the fact that you were comparing it to Japan, where pedophiles are even more wide-spread

      +坂田 金時 (Sakata Kintoki) my high school Japanese teacher was gay. And living in America. lol just because laws are written doesn't change the fact that pedophilia is everywhere, and so is homosexuality. No one here is saying America is better than Japan, but I understand his opinion because certain things that are common in Japan aren't common to us. So to us, it's weird, just as I'm sure there are things Japanese can say are very "American" about us.

    Idols are different in the US. In Japan they are entertainment but also good moral examples. In the US they are merely entertainment. I don't think anyone would consider Nicki Minaj to be a good moral example...

    • @Ateezwooyoung

      +alphaknave exactly.
      Japanese and also Korean idols have a lot of rules to follow,for some i'm okay with, but some are to strict. But for america, they don't have any rules they can do whatever they want, and almost nothing happen.

    • @011mph
      @011mph 9 ปีที่แล้ว +37

      it depends on what you follow on Nicki. she has many good moral lessons off stage, but her stage image is supposed to be more "wild".

    • @AshThunor
      @AshThunor 9 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      +zynbw Lyrics from one of Nicki's songs:
      "I'm high as hell, I only took a half a pill
      I'm on some dumb shit, by the way, what he say?
      He can tell I ain't missing no meals
      Come through and fuck him in my automobile"
      So, promoting recreational drug use and extreme body modification (boob and ass jobs) to seem desirable to men so you can have casual sex with strangers in your car. Yea, "wild" is right. But certainly not moral.

    I can't wait until someone reacts to this video of you two reacting to that video of them reacting to those videos of J-Pop.
    And then someone reacting to that.
    And while there are definitely scandals in America as well, there tends to be so many that most people honestly don't care all that much, unless it's really huge. And even then, more often than not, they get more media exposure, and more popular as a result, unless it's something hugely negative. When something really bad happens, and everyone is against them, usually, the worst they have to do is a public apology, it's really never any public humiliation like shaving off all your hair. I mean, Britney Spears did that once, but that was of her own volition, and when she went a little crazy for a while.
    All in all, the most artists have to do when something goes really, really wrong is apologize, and maybe get dropped from a label or pay a fine if it's contractual. Humiliation is nearly always self-imposed.

      +Smexi Jebus In addition to this, if it's a scandal that makes people angry, they'll simply stop supporting that artist instead of expecting a public apology or a dropped contract. Most American's feel that they support the artists with their own money, so if they stop giving the artist money after a scandal, the artist will change their ways.

    • @MihiroNai
      @MihiroNai 8 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      +Yoonchi Ya I think what they propably meant is that in japan, though people have respect for each other (elders, superiors, parents and so on...), they kinda have this pressure on individuals to fit into what the society think of being morally correct. It's like society eyes forces people to fit into the same mold, and thus individuality is a little bit a hard thing to achieve. For example, in japan, even if someone you know (outside of family) annoys you, you wouldn't directly express that feeling to the person, cause it would be considered rude. From when they are child, they are thaught manners and told to fit into society, so much that individuality kinda vanishes. It's a cultural thing.

    Scandals in America and Western Culture in general actually BOOST your popularity because they give you so many media attention so more people will become interested in you and what you do. Unlike Japan, Popularity in America doesn't necessarily mean being liked (the film Mean Girls clearly ilustrates that). Being popular in America means having something that keeps people interested in you and what you do, whether is good or bad so while scandals in Japan are a bad thing, since Japanese people shy away from negativity and bad example, in America scandals are, in retrospective, the best thing that can happen to you.

    • @HeyVenusss
      @HeyVenusss 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yea but dont think that the people in America will like you because you got caught in a scandal though. You just get popular because people are gossiping or talking about you and it could be negative or positive gossip but since everyone's paying attention to you it basically shines a light on you and builds up your fame but eventually people do end up being forgotten abouy if there is nothin else to as a idol for you to entertain the public with and then your just a has-been.

    • @SymphonicMotion
      @SymphonicMotion 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Angela Antonio ...you technically just repeated what I said...
      And no, they don't necessarily forget about you, female singers who had massive scandals (there is a plethora of examples) kept on thriving long after their scandals came to light and many still love them to this day.

    • @hukesama8389
      @hukesama8389 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +SymphonicMotion In Japan, scandals can lead you to be deleted from existence in a way like Ai Takabe, a voice actor(Kill Me Baby, Wandering Son) who got into a drug scandal 2 months ago. Her name was erased from the anime credits she was in.

      I also think a difference would be that those involved in the scandal don't really take responsibility as often. They may shrug it off or put the blame on an outside source.

    Hello there , I really like what you do here , very interesting. As advice i would like to say , if its possible to turn up the volume of the video you're reacting to , it would make it easier to get a good general idea of the video. I watched the "Teens React" video before i watched this , so i know what it's about. but others who haven't will probably don't get what the people are saying in the video. ( at least not in english) , additional english subtitles would also be an option. :)

    As an American I found this interesting seeing your responses to their reactions of Jpop videos. There is definitely a cultural difference at play here. To answer 1 question (in case it has not been answered already), when our music idols do something scandalous they rarely get in "trouble." They may make a public apology & will probably lose some fans, but all the news about their behavior brings a lot of attention & press to them. The one's with smart entertainment lawyers will turn this attention into a positive marketing campaign. In fact, there have been scandals that many believe were pre-planned (like right before an album debut or concert tour) in order to improve sales or bring attention back to an idol. We have a saying "There is no such thing as bad press." Personally I find this behavior distasteful but the idol and their team are "laughing all the way to the bank."

    Forgive my bad Japanese. I wanted to say that here in America, it does seem very different than how you view your idols in Japan. In America, there are freelance paparazzi that get paid a lot of money to get shots of celebrities for magazines and tabloids. Do you have people like that in Japan?
    Tabloids in American society are usually ignored, since they usually publish things that are fake or untrue. But magazines here are usually reputable and different, when a scandal shows up in a magazine or on celebrity news people will pay attention. Sometimes a magazine will put in the opinion of the author, such as criticizing a celebrity that gained weight after having a baby. But celebrities here don't feel the need to apologize for things they do in their life, because it is their life. To a point, America respects an individual's privacy but not by much. A man could get caught cheating on his wife and eight children, and the only thing he will really do is talk about why he is justified in cheating to the magazine interviewer, but he will never issue an apology to the public. The only time you might find a celebrity making a public apology is if they say or do something found to be offensive or inappropriate. I hope this helps. Bye bye!
    私の悪い日本語を許して。私はここアメリカでは、それはあなたが日本であなたの偶像の表示方法は非常に異なるように見えるんことを言いたかったです。アメリカでは、雑誌やタブロイド紙のために有名人のショットを取得するためにたくさんのお金を支払わフリーランスのパパラッチがあります。あなたが日本でそのような人々を持っていますか?
    彼らは通常、偽物や虚偽ているものを公開するため、アメリカ社会でのタブロイド紙は、通常、無視されます。しかし、ここで雑誌がスキャンダル雑誌またはニュースの人々は注意を払うだろう有名人に現れたとき、通常は評判と異なっています。時々、雑誌は、このような赤ちゃんを持った後に体重が増加した有名人を批判として、著者の見解に入れます。それが彼らの人生ですので、しかし、ここでの有名人は、彼らの生活の中で物事を謝罪する必要性を感じることはありません。ポイントに、アメリカではあまりないことにより、個人のプライバシーを尊重しています。男は妻と8人の子供に浮気引っかかる可能性、と彼は本当に行います唯一の事は彼が雑誌のインタビュアーに浮気に正当化される理由について話すが、彼は国民に謝罪を発行することはありませんです。彼らが言うか、攻撃的または不適切であることが判明何かをする場合は、公共の謝罪をする有名人を見つけるかもしれない唯一の時間です。私はこのことができます願っています。バイバイ!

    lol, thought it was funny at the end where they were talking about how American stars would react to a scandal and if it would affect their popularity. They don't know that most American stars create a scandal just to get a jump in their ratings. "Spectacle" really does define American stars.

    As an American who spent some time in Japan, this video is really interesting. I think my upbringing makes me not like the idea of idol groups. In America, we like to think of singers and dancers as artists. If a singer is too polished or perfect people generally don't like them in the US because their music is seen as "fake." Whereas when artists make mistakes and express real emotions, people can relate to them and will like them more.

    I love the lady on the left. She reacts really naturally and often comes up with her own opinions. Whereas the girl on the right seems to be too self-conscious and over-obsessed with herself ... May be she care more about how she looks like on camera than the actual video itself. Sorry if I'm too harsh.

    These were just a few teens reacting. You should see how teens are in my city. We have more of a Japanese culture than in most parts of America. We even have school clubs dedicated to Japanese culture or Anime. I wish you two could visit America sometime to see how different it is. We are more individual in our culture than you might think. We run around doing the things we want instead of listening to others. You can say America is less strict and more opinionated and will publicly express how they feel more openly.

    Another thing is that AKB48 is too big. AKB is so popular. Other individual singers and small bands have no way to expose oversea.
    However, AKB are not really good singers. They are just idols. And the idols represents the whole J-pop culture nowadays. If I don't know about J-pop and I would think J-pop stars are not good at singing and J-pop are for Otakus.
    Again, I listen to YUI and Ken Hirai. I know good singers in Japan. But once I sing YUI's song in karaoke, my friends said they thought Japanese songs are for Otaku.

  • @speechless05

    Adding on to what other people have been saying about popularity in America, I think the reason why scandals don't become scandalous per say is because, yes, it really does increase the popularity of some people because it puts them more in the spotlight. But also with music artists, I think most people actually don't really care about what they are really doing as long as they keep putting out great music. Yes bad scandals bring them in the spotlight and can give them bad publicity but at the end of the day are those people making good movies, making good music...if they are then what they do on the side really doesn't matter especially if you're a fan of that person.

    In Western media, and in Western society, we have an extreme focus on individualism. The idea of a company punishing someone for what they do in their personal lives is unaccepted here. Even in cases where it hurts the company's image it's still controversial.
    A company demanding a musician not engage in dating or have sex in the West would result in the company being publicly mocked at the very least.

    the most intressting thing I got from this video I Think would be, the different attitudes toward celebraties, like in the states or western World (I'm from sweden) doing a scandal will most likely give you move views / listeners (no bad publicity, all publicity is good) while in japan they shun bad bublicity a bit more and I kind of like that idea, thou it kinda goes a step to far in the wrong way aswell when it goes as far as that girl had to do in AKB.

    I don't think we really have "idol" celebrities in the sense that east Asia has idol celebrities. Generally speaking, most people won't have a heart attack just because a singer or actor started dating someone. There are the teenage crazies here and there, but generally people do not care. In fact, celebrity couples have their own fandoms here. I think that's part of the big reason why forbidding dating and being punished for dating is something incredibly weird to us.

    It kinda felt like they avoided or made no reaction when the teens made a negative comment, like it was never said but then made overly happy reactions when they thought someone said something positive when they were being sarcastic lol
    i get most people dont like it when people talk bad about their country, but it would of been interesting to see why they thought the teens thought it was weird of jpop or something instead of just nodding, which is what a reaction video is meant to be right??
    I also felt a little uncomfortable how she desperately tried to keep her eyes wide open and pout her mouth and looked more at the camera than the teens video, but she seems nice :) but i really like the left girl, shes very natural and seems true to herself! im not hating im half japanese myself haha

    I recently got into Jpop and Kpop and it took me awhile to adjust calling them idols instead of just singers/performers because here in America we don't call them idols, instead we have our own idols, from a famous singer to even a family member it can be whoever you feel inspired by

    Hello, this is my first video of you I've seen reacting to something. First off, I'd like to say you both are adorable. To answer your questions, we really don't have idols the way you do there, though many teens will idolize a singer or band. It sounds the same, but the difference is they're not officially idols the way your entertainers are named there. There are scandals at times, the most recent I've heard having to do with a singer by the name of Justin Bieber, but his fans, as well as the fans of other entertainers who were in similar scandals, continue to support their favorite ones no matter what.
    I wish you both the greatest success in your endeavor. :)

    I don’t know much about jpop. To be honest my favorite type of music is electro dance music (edm) so I wasn’t too interested in jpop until I heard “Towa no Kisuna feat. Another Infinity” by Daisy x Daisy.

    My reaction to first hearing it was: O.O what is this and where can I find it?
