Why I Love My C5 Corvette

  • Why I bought my C5 Corvette? In 2018 after searching the West Coast for a suitable car, I settled on my 2001 C5 Convertible with a 6-speed manual transmission. I love my vette! I own 2 Porsche’s but the C5 is my favourite car to drive. It has lots of power, the open-air convertible is fantastic, and it looks great on the road. I have added a Corsa Sport Exhaust which makes it sound awesome and has given me a boost in power. In this video I will explain why I like it so much and show you how my C5 Corvette looks driving down the road. Even at close to 20 years old, the car gets lots of attention. While filming this segment I came across a glamour photoshoot and they asked to use the car as a prop. That explains the thumbnail for this video.

I, too, never had a desire to own a Corvette. That was until I paid a visit to my good friend in LA who is a Corvette fanatic. He owns two vettes, a C5 and a C7. He insisted I drive his C5 convertible to Cars & Coffee. By the time I'd got on the freeway, I was hooked. The torque was amazing. I came home and within 3 weeks I owned a 2003 50th anniversary convertible 6 speed.

I absolutely love my 04 Z06. Have had her since July 2018 and it just turned over 57,000 miles. One thing to watch out for, especially on any of the LS motors, is the dreaded harmonic balancer wobble. If you start chewing up serpentine belts check to see if the balancer is wobbling at idle. It isn't hard to change out, took me 2 weekends. The hardest part is taking out the power steering rack. Other than that, maintenance is a breeze. Oh and 405HP is a lot of fun!!!

Nice job on the entire video editing BTW. How did you get the sound quality without the wind noise? Impressive.
I am a new C5 owner this year and it's a long story, but anyways, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my C5 (started with a C3 and still have one) for all the reasons you mentioned; comfortable, sleek, stylish, sporty, decent hp, etc. I'm super impressed with it. For the money, you CANNOT get into anything like that; meaning style, muscle, looks, etc.....you just can't; not without spending 2-3x's what the market bears for them today. My C5 is low mileage and people that aren't familiar with corvette generations literally think it's a 2019 or 2020, both the exterior and the interior as you mentioned in your video.

I have bought my second C5 my first C5 was a 04 Z 06 with low miles. And I just picked up a 03 50th anniversary convertible with low miles with the deep red exterior and tan top which you rarely see I imagine there's not too many of them on the road. And I must say I really enjoyed a C5 I think the beauty of them 50th anniversary convertible one of the remarkable Corvettes ever made I've owned it for about 3 months and put 3000 miles on the car just a couple months I have purchased it with 23000 miles I'm at has a lot of today's technology it was way ahead of it's time and I do believe this C5 will only rise in price and be a car that is in demand I think fifteen years from now it will be considered highly collectible car the C5 it's one of the best Corvettes ever designed and made granite it don't have today's technology like the new Corvette but it's got plenty of power for the street where it is still faster than 90% of the cars on the road today so if you get a chance to get a C5 which they are climbing in price don't pass the opportunity yet it will be a car that you'll want to keep and hang onto as I will this one for sure

I have owned 2 C4's and this car is so much better, it was such an improvement on those C4's which were ground breaking cars. The one thing they both had in common was the way they handled, the suspension and steering. The design of the body, interior and engine are far superior in the C5, so if you find a good deal on one don't let it slip away there are a lot of shoppers out there so you are competing with a ton of people. I lost a really nice one to a guy who let someone come ahead of me even though I was first, so be aggressive once you find the deal.

I kind'a just tripped over your video and guess what? I just became a subscriber. I tip my hat to you on videography and what must have been a lot editing to produce this video. As to the subject hand, I've had many Corvettes and actually started a Corvette Club, but I've never owned a C5. Anyway, your video is quite timely in that I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on an immaculate, one-owner '02 ZO6. Staying with filming for a bit longer, what kind of mount are you using while filming with your cell phone?
Nice to hear that you joined a Corvette Club. I highly recommend that to every Corvette owner. And don't just pick the first club you go to, go to several clubs in your area if that's available. Clubs are different, just families. But, welcome to not just the Corvette Community, but to the Corvette Family.
I love your C5 and the mods you've done and a "well done" on going with Corsa. I've gone Corsa Extreme on all my Vettes and I've never had the desire to try a different system.
Thank you so much for the ride-along and once again, well done! Save the Wave 🙋‍♂

I've had a few Corvettes and the C5 was always one of my favorites. I recently bought one from a friend that deals in rare and unusual vehicles. When I heard about it, I had to immediately go see it. It is a '99 sebring silver with back convertible top. It has all the service records. It has a laminated original sticker. It has all the options but unfortunately not the 6 speed. I like the way it looked and only has 7700 miles. The previous owner changed all of the fluids every few years and the tires three times due to age. With an old car you have to keep an eye on everything but so far I haven't seen and fluids seeping out anywhere. I only tale ot pit pm when it's nice and I can't remember enjoying are car more than this one.

Great review and a nice car. I'm looking at getting a c5 in the near future but like you said, the B.C. market is very limited. What was the name of the Corvette dealership and how hard was it to get your car across the border?

    • @CENTERLANE
      @CENTERLANE  ปีที่แล้ว

Wayne, The dealer was Vette Culture. in Mesa but I wouldn't recommend them. as a dealer. There were problems with my car that I had to resolve on my own. Getting a car across the boarder is easy if the car is older than 15 years. It is best to get a broker and I have used A&A Customs Brokers. There are documents you have to gather and some rules but the broker will guide you through that. I have another broker I would recommend but I'd rather DM that info to you . email me at bruce@directimpcatmedia.ca

C5 Corvettes are great in my opinion, I have an 03 AND an 04. Both are six speed convertibles, and bone stock.
The red 03 with black interior and top has 10355 miles and the blue 04 with shale top and interior has 10750 miles. Purchased both cars from their original owners. 03 was part of an estate sale, owner passed away last year at age 80. 04 was purchased here in my hometown, owner was retired and was having some problems getting in and out of the car. Both cars have no modifications and original tires.
I owned a black 98 coupe, beige interior, automatic, recently sold to my son, corsa cat back exhaust, new drilled and slotted rotors, new stainless steel brake lines, ceramic pads, and z06 air box. Car now has 26000 miles.
Prior to the 98 I owned a 2000 red coupe, black interior, automatic, drilled and sotted rotors, corsa exhaust.
Never had a major problem with any of the cars. Sold the 2000 to buy a 1939 Dodge truck street rod .

Nice Video. I have had my ‘99 C5 since purchasing it in 2010. I am a long time Corvette owner and driver since 1970 when I purchased my first. Owning only C2’s and C3’s prior to 2010 I felt it was time to add a C5 to my Collection I heard for years how great they were and I always like the look of them so I pulled the trigger on mine in 2010. Since then I also pulled the trigger on a C6 in 2017. I own 4 Corvettes today all Coupes. 1967,1973,1999 and 2006. I am done with my Corvette Collection being I don’t care for the C7 or C8 still. C6 was the last good looking Corvette I feel. Chevrolet lost this old timer after that and I am still not liking those tail lights on the back of the C7 among a few other things about the car. Oh I should mention my cars are all pretty much stock . The only thing different on my C5 are later Thin Spoke Chrome Wheels and most recently I upgraded my sound system with a New Kenwood Double Din Receiver with CarPlay to bring it up to date with today’s cars. You just can beat CarPlay and Hands Free Driving especially with a Stick Shift.
