Farmers who had those with bad bottom seals use John Deere corn head grease in the gear boxes. No more seal issues. The corn head grease is a high temp., high pressure grease. That hoop between the two lift points should be up for the pto shaft.
I’m learning this, I wish someone mentioned this about my 1010 bulldozer that was leaking out of the seals, would have used grease instead
That tractor junkyard is awesome I'd love to see more of it.
You definitely will
Dave thanks for sharing. Be careful when welding galvanized material. Have heard of people welding indoors and dying from fume inhalation. Zinc and other metal fumes are extremely toxic.
Also a suggestion with the u joint that wouldn’t take the spring clip. I have welded washers over the cap onto the yoke. Easy to cut off next time you have to replace the u joint.
I got in a rush and didn’t grind the galvanized coating off. Welding it sucked.
@@Dumpster_Dave it is some nasty stuff. I have welded it a few times too. Makes you not want to touch it again lol. I knew a guy that worked in an Alro plant who was bald and said the fumes in there made his hair fall out and they had to pay him for it.
Absolutely, We were putting helical piers in last week on a job outside with a slight breeze going. After the installation, we had to cut them off 4 inches below the top of the footer and then drill a hole for the bolt on the top plate. The contractor decided to use a torch to punch the holes through. That night he was in the emergency room with difficulties breathing so even outside and ventilated you have to be careful
yeah buddy I think that brush hog is just for regular brush not trees 🙂Andrew got stat butt kicking super brush hog on the front of his skid steer, total different game but I think once you get at field cut down I think that piece of equipment will be fine just as long as you stay up with, awesome video I like that keep it up buddy look forward to your next one
I used to work for a dumpster guy just like you. Had 60 people at his biggest, Not so much any more. I will add that while every can may not have a floor, just like you the name and # were perfect. Keep at it Dave, he killed it. I dont see why you shouldn't.
Also I had a problem with trespassers a few months ago. Cops said they couldn't do anything because I didn't have signs. I do get that, but they also noted they didn't speak, read or write any Spanish or English.
from coast to coast, north to south, dumpster dave thrashes, mashes, fixes, resurrents and the rumor is he is totally completely unstoppable. Predicted to become the first multi-millionaire dumpster meister in dumpster history. Gilding turds left and right. Go Dave, Go! More more more...
That cub cadet tractor would he awesome to restore and I believe I saw an international harvester too!
Fascinating sequence of refinishing, and that flame-broiled paint job was tasty.
and how long does it take the paint say's : ciao ?
@@-nuexx1 Oh, 15-20 minutes…
Great job Dave, really enjoy your channel. How do you like that Milwaukee cut off saw compared to say a 9” grinder ?
“Just a note” with the gear box i’d fill it with heavy gear oil instead of the grease as the oil will stop it from over heating. There could be a seal gone hence the reason grease was added.
Love that saw
Dave rescues an ol' faithful brush hog and puts together a jigsaw puzzle of steel parts to bring it back to life. Nice!
Thank you for sharing, I learn a lot, good project 👍👍👍👍
Smileys equipment is quite a hoot. I bought some antique tractor parts there, he is definitely proud of what he has, and prices it accordingly.
I think they said they have 20 acres of stuff
Dave, it looks by the sunset you my friend put in some long days. Love watching you and Andrew.
Pretty cool how you and your buddies all hang out and work on investments. Exactly what I did when I was young. Fun stuff. Just try not to get divorces. Or bye bye investments.
I always put a paint line across my slip clutches so I can see if they are slipping. Good video!
I bought a high dollar steel cutting blade and put it on my hand saw and it does the same thing. Cuts metal like butter. I was actually blown away how well it cuts. I cut some angle iron like you just cut but it was about twice as wide as that one and cut probably 12 or so cuts with it and it didn't skip a beat. I used the angle iron to put in my smoker for added heat holding ability.
Thanks for this I really enjoyed it ✌️❤️ from across the pond 🏴
Dave, like the fact that you enforced this bush hog with a lot of angle iron, to give it more strength.third time is charm. Great video, thanks for sharing, Maybe Andrew could give it to you for Christmas?? Hey just a suggestion!
Dave, from your video you can't tell that you ran it too hard but from Andrew's video you ran it to death. Live and learn.
Good work nice welding beautiful Labrador
Nice job fixing up that old. I think you're right. That's really what they call a rough cut. Finish mower, not a brush hog. And you'really shouldn't take down any trees with that. Not even small ones may be only a couple inches. You start trying to take down 5 inch stuff and boy. You're gonna break everything. You'll be blind at every clutch you put in. Nice job on the video dave
Hi Dave, my guess is that gearbox is full of JD corn head grease, not NLGI #2. For future reference. Probably has a bad seal and won't hold oil.
I just bought a portable band saw, which does a great job, but now I have to get one of those metal cutting circular saws too!
You guys really rocked!! tweaked and revived the old cutting deck
Thanks
Hello Dave, happy holidays! Long time listening. First time caller my father was tired of replacing seals on his brush hogs. So instead we filled them full of grease. More than likely somebody done the same. If you put oil in a it'll run right out. Good luck! Love you channel and happy holidays! Rick Youngstown, Ohio
Thanks
New sub.
Enjoyed it. Great editing, and appreciate skipping boring stuff.
Dave on my old shredder it use to roll the sides under until we made some skids out of flat plate and took some rebar and used that to stiffen up the sides plus we welded the rebar to the top of the deck and tied it into the sides. That sure made a big difference in stiffening up that shredder. You should buy that tractor off of Andrew.
I wish I had enough money to buy it,
The seal on the bottom of that gear box probably leaks. Rather than doing a rebuild they decided to stuff it with grease.
Andrew should buy a multipurpose mack like yours.
Another great video Dave. Keep posting brother! Nice to see Andrew on your video!
Thanks
Nice work Dave
great assist with ANDREW,CODY, AND BLUE
Good video Dave
Dave, good to see eye protection, but your in an enclosed space, I would be thinking about hearing protection as well if your operating your new cutting toy or doing any long grinding jobs.
Great stuff
Some old machines use “corn head grease” which is pretty low on the viscous chart. It’s almost semi liquid. That’s probably what that grease fitting is for.
First off set bushhog I have seen. Pretty cool
Oh that’s right, Andrew’s new toy
58:10 Ouch, that hurt :D
The grease in the gear box is an old farmers truck when the seals start leaking they put grease in them so it still gets lubed and the grease doesn't flow out the bad seal
47:40 men will do anything to avoid getting the torch set out again 😂
Loved watching the video, I really enjoy watching all of you, I can’t find the other guys channel -that took the doors off, you mentioned he had a channel of his own? I watch you and Andrew’s channel and I’d love to watch more so if you buddies have got a channel can you drop a link in the reply please. Thanks again for the uploads and best wishes to you all over Christmas

Salut Simon je suis toujours assidus de t'écouter religieusement toutes tes shows régulieremant . je t'aime Germain
C-clamp, love your torch I have one too.
I think that right side of the 3 point frame needs a diagonal down to the deck to keep it from tweaking like it has been but other than that I can't beleive that thing was sitting in a bone yard, it was far from wore out.
Seemed to work well on the long grass with Andrew 👍
A homemade gantry crane with a chain hoist or what I know them as, endless chain. Junkyards have them with car tires on it .
Interesting repair video Dave, I like that paint job too. Always like your videos, you are definitely a hard working man, glad to see that. Keep at it.
A subscriber from Iowa.
Thanks
58:09 Just been smashed in the face with a sledge hammer 😂😂 Cheers Dave 😂
I was like damn I already went through 2 lenses on this project lol
I jumped back too.
Dave Its COOL VIDEO
Now you know why that bush hog was in the junkyard! I have couple in about the same shape!
Sad to see all that good stuff sitting 😢😢 but also better then been scrapped a little lol
Good video, I need to come hang out with you and Andrew sometime, lol, met you all down in KY!
Definitely
Wow when you go at to fix and repair something that some one said it was junk, you do a great job and no its not made for cutting small trees down. Ya all learn the hard way haha.
Thanks 👍
Good video. Dave; you will lose your hearing when you hit sixty without ear protection. Ask me how I know. Also, made 3 trips to have metal taken out of my eyes too before I learned. A little life in that machine. Be safe.
Bet you someone adapted that grease fitting into the drain plug to avoid have to fix a leaky output shaft seal
Exactly what they did, good catch
great video worth watching
Not bad tractor but for what Andrew does it not very productive but for you it would be awesome.
Dave carefull beating galvanize to 300 degrees will omit deadly fumes
The double back tires are much better than a single tire, it’s a nice hog especially sense your improvements, there will always be a lot of leverage on those back wheels, so your set up is a good one.
nice product placement for the 'ol D&D lol
I hate seeing so much stuff in these tractor junk yards that didn’t need much to keep them going
All we can do is save one at a time
you know if you got Andrew on site you know it's going to get fixed....🙂
A escaped wild Camarata lol 😂
Douggie needed a football helmet to mow in front of the skid steer!
Lol
Great job
For all the time money and effort you put into repairing a junkyard brush hog, you could have rented a forestry mulching head for your skid steer and have it done in a day. Just saying. I do like your content!
It's as if a car crash, a plane crash, a train derailment and a Shrek all had a baby. And that baby was a video about a brush hog. Painful to watch but when will I ever see this again? I can't look away.
I guess you’ll have to wait for the next one then
Thank you very much for the video. 👍🌞👍🇸🇯
>$600 metal cutting saw
>Using an old tire as a workbench
Why do we do this?
Sometimes I don't get the method of the madness.
This was a good watch. ❤
Should have left the loader on the tractor while cutting to protect the front of the tractor. It’s real easy to shove a branch through that front grill.
If you watch Andrew Camarata’s video, you’ll see we took it off because the fitting got ripped of with in 2 mins.
Sway bars👍
I thought I recognized Andrews voice
The brush hog is a finishing mower hence the wheels . A true topper has only a single wheel to the rear
Not the 7 1/2 foot
Grease in those gear boxes is normal fix’s when the seals go bad n leak gear oil I guess it works better then nothing lol
How much money went into the rehab?
$900 for brush hog
$40 for paint
$60 rebuild clutch
Not counting my time
I dont know how those dull ass blades are cutting anything
I cut that side off cut me a new piece of metal to gun down through there welding in and paint it cuz you going to paint it anyway so you have a nice pure straight clean-looking end for almost nothing
It wouldn’t have survived for five minutes if I didn’t reinforce it
if you dont put your posted signs on a board the tree will grow around the nails and push the sign off
long nails and a board the tree will keep pushing the board
Yeah I need to do that
Probably should wear a dust mask when grinding what must be lead based paint.
Last time manufacturers used lead base paint was In 1978. This brush hog is from the 90’s
I stand corrected. Thanks. Love your channel
I don't understand why people who saves part's to sale or for use them self doesn't take better care of the items so they dont rust. Its easy to put cement blocks on the ground and then pallets on top of them and cover it all with tarps. To much work maybe !? But it should preserve the part's a little better.
Were you using proper shear bolts?
Sure
Your draw bars should be shifted all the way to the right so that your PTO can be in a Direct Line you have an offset on the PTO there were many problems with what you were doing I mean I'm not trying to give you a hard time but I've been doing this stuff since I was a child
I’m not sure how that’s possible to do
A Brush Hog is not built to cud down Trees, Hintz the name BRUSH HOG!!!!!!!!
Keep Andrew off anything you own he will tear it up
Just wondering why are you using that have a shield gas 30 is there something that makes it better be in that high I'd like to know thanks
Calibrate, how much gas goes out, a Union Welder taught me that
Should have never taken the loader off. That's asking for a tree branch through the radiator. Plus that brush hog is way to light duty for what you're trying to do!
What gear was the tractor in? Looks like your ground speed was way too high cutting that rough and tough brush
B and 2 I think
@@Dumpster_Dave when mowing anything other than grass, you need the lowest gear you can find, and you might even need to hit the clutch so it can chew it all up
To bad the tractors not hydrostatic
@@Dumpster_Dave how many gears does that tractor have? 8?
What was the tool that you used to open the Milwaukee box?
Leatherman
LEATHERMAN, Skeletool Lightweight Multitool with Combo Knife and Bottle Opener, Topographical Print a.co/d/gKpGUmD
Couldn't you just coat the whole hog in a 1" layer of JB Weld?
Sorry Dave but that seamed a poor attempt of sharpening the brushog blades,I would of taken them off and did a super fine job ,it would of payed you in the end
Bro you don't have to remove the cover on the blade. The steel will do it for you.
👍👍
no thinner in the paint ? directly on the rust? it's a waste of time
I BELIEVE I SAWTHAT VIDEO, ODD SET UP TO ME, ITS LIKE HALF A BAT WING, BUT STATIONARY, THATS ODD TO ME
Why would you remove the front end loader before you push hard I've been doing this since the 50s that made no sense to me
If you watch Andrew Camarata‘s video within two minutes of mowing one of the lines got ripped off because the lines are too close to the ground. Poor design.
Man, I hate banjo bolts. if engineers would keep them out of machinery unless absolutely necessary, I bet a lot of issues would cease to be
Man all that work because of a shitty old bush hog lol
