For a professional show this is the shits. It's the worst I have heard on a radio show. Can't hear about 80% if it. Are they scared of bret to fix the mic. Stop the interview n fix it!!!!!
+Frank Strati I agree, wholeheartedly. Sad about the fact that it never got to happen because of Bill Goldberg's mistake. Not trying to demonize him. It was a mistake/accident. But it's still hard for fans to have to realize.
That is a travesty it never happened. An iron man match for an hour would have been epic. They could of pulled that off and the wrasslin gods would smile upon them
Rosenberg - "Bret would you put yourself of the Mount Rushmore of wrestling" Bret - "Oh yeah, I put myself up there and spray-paint the other ones." I love Bret Hart, made my day.
Bret Hart is out of his mind. His look as a wrestler is ICONIC. The white black and pink boots with the star on them, the black and pink tights, the leather jacket and who could forget the pink wrap around shades that he always gave away to a lucky kid in the crowd before entering the ring. Iconic look and swag...
People can go on all they want about Bret Hart the wrestler and how 'bitter' he apparently is. But Bret ALWAYS has a human message when he talks, even in the most basic of life lessons. Tragic to hear that him and Smith were diagnosed at the same time but it was too late for Smith. And is he bitter about it? No - he's conveying a positive message to the people listening who may be in the same situation in their lives. And this, is why Bret Hart will always be one of my heroes. Marks who disagree are redundant to this argument.
Bret really helped propel Austin with their matches and feud, and honestly I do think his legacy is nearly unmatched. He carried the fed through their toughest years, and whether or not people want to give him the credit he deserves, he was the best worker during his time at the top of wwe. He also helped elevate Shawn an awful lot, which is something people seemingly never recognize. Shawn was great at high spots and charisma, had impeccable timing and selling, but Bret was tons more believable. His psychology in the ring is unmatched to this day in my opinion, and really could work a good match with just about anybody. Greatest of all time in my opinion... Shawn, Ric, Austin, Taker and Angle are in the conversation as well but Bret has my vote.
That is not true. Think about it. Bret wins the title in 1992. Drops it in 1993 and they try to make Lex Luger. Who did Vince put the belt back on in 1994? Bret. When he dropped it to Shawn at WM12 and left the company he was negotiating with WCW. Why did Vince bring him back if he wasn't a draw? Who got the belt in 1997? Bret. So the point is, that if Bret wasn't a draw Vince wouldn't have continued to go back to him and put the belt on him time after time. Now I will agree that Bret did not match Vince's vision for the Attitude Era and that had something to do with Vince allowing Bret to leave in 1997. But to say that he wasn't a draw doesn't match up with how Vince does business. If Bret wasn't a draw Vince wouldnt have kept going back to him with the belt multiple times and he wouldn't have brought him back in 1996.
Well, in the mid 90's, nobody was drawing in wrestling, really. It had become so stagnant. Is it necessarily Bret Hart's fault when the rest of the roster consists of dentists, hockey players, and giant chickens? I've always felt that way about Nash too. He proved to be a draw when he was surrounded by the right people and wrestling changed. 1994/1995 had to be some of the most boring times in all of wrestling history. Flair and Hart have always said bad things about one another. Imo they are both wrong about each other. Hart was a top heel in 1997 that absolutely did help draw, and Ric Flair's matches were certainly not all the same.
Bret drew about as anyone could in wrestling after the huge scandals of the early 90s. Drew more than flair who was in the WWF in the early 90s, and more than Shawn and diseal in the mid to late 90s in WWF. Was he up there with the really big draws? No, but he wasn't the worst draw ever. I think diseal holds that record.
sleazyfellow i’ve always said that if Bret had gotten a tag team program with Macho Man at the very beginning of his main event run it would have set him up for success far better.
The thing about bret hart Is he made you BELIEVE...like the way hed work your leg in so many ways during the match so when he finally put on that Sharpshooter you believed ANY man would tap...was incredible
It's so weird to compare Bret and Shawn. To me, they are the two best in-ring performers of all time, and yet their styles are so different. I think Bret told a better story, I think his moves looked crisper and more fluid, and the way he took bumps was much more realistic. Bret made everything look more real. Shawn on the other hand, was more athletic, ballsier and a lot quicker and more agile. Shawn worked best with the really big guys, bumping around the ring like a pinball. Bret, on the other hand, worked his best matches with similar sized guys. If you look at their mutual opponents, Shawn had better matches with the bigger guys, and Bret had better matches with the similarly-built guys. I don't know how to call it. Shawn had the longer career, but I think Bret was a better champion. Gun to my head I'd probably say Shawn is objectively better, but I like Bret's work better on a personal level. I value the in-ring technician stuff more. One more thing, I don't buy the idea that Shawn sold better. He was louder and more animated, but Bret actually looked like he just got fucked up. Grabbing his throat, taking the chest-first bump into the turnbuckle. I think Bret sold better than Shawn, by a fair margin.
Jim Cornette said which you prefer out of Shawn or Bret is like preferring chicken or beef: which you prefer depends on which style/persona you prefer.
Bret Hart will never be as good as Shawn Michaels. That's why he hated him so much because he knew he was not as good as Shawn. Brett wasn't even the best wrestler in his own family.
Bret Hart never held back and never minced words. He is a wrestling prophet. Everything he says, usually ends up the way he called it. Best Wrestler in the World, Ever.
In general I agree with Bret Hart, but WCW had an amazing Cruiser Weight Division, and the United States Championship was a part of some awesome feuds.
Him and Sting are my two favorite wrestlers of all time I can't believe they didn't ask him about his shoe game the Hitman stayed with some fresh kicks on
Brett sold better than Shawn. Had a more realistic in ring style. Shawn had more charisma and more high flying spots. It depends what your cup of tea is. In my opinion Bret is the best in ring worker of all time simply because his matches were the most realistic and when he sold you genuinely believed he was in pain. His punches are as good as they come. You can't help but suspend your belief. His psychology and story telling in the ring far surpasses anyone else as well. But yeah he is one depressive person and needs therapy

The thing I didn’t like was how he treated this fan who idolizes him who worshipped him who knew everything about him and Brett just nonchalantly blew him off. That’s why there will only be one Muhammad Ali who loved everyone and treated people who were complete strangers as if they were his family member. It would have been super awesome for Brett to have acknowledge him with maybe a handshake, a hug and a big smile to show that he loves his fan and make them Feel special. Sucks
When was in school I used to put other kids in the sharpshooter and when it's done properly they ain't getting out of it..best wrestler during my childhood
Rosenberg perpetuating the myth that Hall and Nash were "WWF stars". Sure they became nationally famous as Razor & Diesel, but they became household names once they went back to WCW as Hall & Nash. They each had 20-plus year careers, and only spent 3 & 4 years respectively in the WWF out of that whole time.
I gotta agree with the Hitman ! Nitro was never as entertaining as Raw, All the stuff going on With Bret, Shawn, Austin, and taker was so much better! The NWO was absolutely amazing though But WWF felt more star studded to me and they were building wrestlers better even if it was slowly.
To balance the books on Bret's story about Shawn saying he wouldn't return the favour to Bret. Bret is only touching on his side of it. He even kind of admits it when he says they had that scuffle and hadn't really talked for 6 months Shawn's side of it was that Bret basically blanked him for months, would leave the room when Shawn was there etc. And when Bret came to say that to Shawn he was like 'Fuck you, you ignore me for half a year, then YOU decide when you're going to start talking to me again?' Now I'm not saying I side with either Bret or Shawn on the issue, they both have a point. What I AM saying is that there were two sides to the story and Bret is being disingenuous / economical with the truth.
He didn’t decide to talk to him again they were gonna have a huge match where he loses to Shawn for the belt. You have to be a huge groupie to not realize it was Shawn and his group of friends that were the problem
When you consider the things he has been through (e.g. stroke, cancer), he actually looks great.
lombe Ng'andu I Agree.
lombe Ng'andu Well when you put it like that, he looks fantastic.
Facts
lombe Ng'andu plus he's 60

When Bret Hart talks everybody shuts up and listens. The GOAT.

Ric Flair is the greatest
That’s because he never stops talking. And especially how great he is. No one else can get a word in edgewise.

bet my left leg if someone asks shawn about what he said hes gonna say he doesnt remember smh
So i am assuming i am suppose to watch this with HeadPhones or connect this to a Stereo? Audio Issues man come on....
What an entrance. What a legend.
I gotta agree with the Hitman !
Nitro was never as entertaining as Raw,
All the stuff going on
With Bret, Shawn, Austin, and taker was so much better!
The NWO was absolutely amazing though
But WWF felt more star studded to me and they were building wrestlers better even if it was slowly.
If you don't have the balls to ask the guy to speak up or speak more into the mic, stop inviting guests. Annoying volume.
Someone could write me what Bret says, because I can not understand a lot, thank you very much!
Bret was the best at making wrestling look real.
MY FAVORITE WRESTLER OF ALL TIME !!!
Peter's too scared to tell this guy to speak up. I can only hear the beginning of his sentences.
My man said Bret was meeting his biggest fan....I can't remember this night at all.
Joshua Nichols he was meeting himself?
The best there is the best there was and the best there ever will be
To balance the books on Bret's story about Shawn saying he wouldn't return the favour to Bret. Bret is only touching on his side of it. He even kind of admits it when he says they had that scuffle and hadn't really talked for 6 months
Shawn's side of it was that Bret basically blanked him for months, would leave the room when Shawn was there etc. And when Bret came to say that to Shawn he was like 'Fuck you, you ignore me for half a year, then YOU decide when you're going to start talking to me again?'
Now I'm not saying I side with either Bret or Shawn on the issue, they both have a point.
C'mon HOT 97 balance the damn mic levels so Bret isn't so soft and Peter isn't booming my speakers
Love Bret!! Thank you Peter.
Great interview
