Hi Jim….Don here. When I dropped the cherry crotch off a couple of years ago, there was doubt as to wether or not a bowl could be had. As I said in my text to you “ you hit this one out of the park”. As a fellow wood worker, your creativity and workmanship are to be envied. The bowls will be returned to the family cottage where from the cherry tree was cut down. No doubt they will become a family treasure. Looking forward to picking them up next week. Don Root. 😀
So glad you you like them! Very cool that the pieces will be returning to the original place that the tree was cut from. Thanks for bringing this cherry to me so the world see these cherry pieces. See you next week. Thanks again.
Thank you, Don for providing such an interesting piece of cherry for Jim. I hope you enjoy your new artwork. I enjoyed watching Jim create it. Cheers!!
Dude I can't believe some said they didn't like your simply elegant everything thing you make its a gem though I can't afford your work I enjoy watching it I love everything I've seen never been disappointed I'm from Texas and every Friday I wake up ready to see what you have next can't forget to mention I enjoy my coffee while I watching your work.
I don’t always love everything he makes but I do like most of it. Even in the things that aren’t my favourite, I’m still in awe of the skill & talent it takes to make them. I did like the “simply elegant” but I love this one
I loved your chat about woodworking clubs. In addition I would like to add there are those of us who are not wood turners, who cannot afford to do wood turning but get our fill by watching your excellent videos and appreciating and admiring the amazing talent on view. Thank you
funny story: this morning I woke up the music you play when displaying the finished project in my head. That was really crazy and then I remembered it was Friday and I can go watch your video with my breakfast.
i worked in a machine shop for about 25 years, a couple of the guys i worked with were absolute genius' and i suggested that they write a repair book called "from sh!t to shinola" because they could fix any piece of scrap into something functional. you sir can do the same thing, you can take a worthless piece of wood and turn it into a masterpiece. you should make a coffee table book with before and after pictures in it lol. see you next week
I would buy that book! And I look forward to all the beautiful things you will create in your new workshop, Jim. Congratulations on the sale of your home.
Absolutely gorgeous! The wood is wonderful, but the black epoxy with the Hypershift... it looks like a dark night sky filled with stars. Just breath taking. Designer Epoxy
I have a farmer friend who loves digging up potatoes. She says its like finding treasure. I feel this watching you. Its a joy to watch you go from a rotting piece of wood that some would burn, to seeing the treasure hidden with in. I really love the whole process, you have great vision, and creative instincts! Designer Epoxy
I'm always amazed when I fall in love anything you make with black resin. I expect it to be leaden and heavy, but the way the black here danced with the hypershift, oozed into deep browns, then faded into the natural cherry, was just perfect.
Designer epoxy always comes in for the win. Sad to see the deep thermal cracking but you always make any imperfections into intentional art. It gives it more character! You are a true master of your art!
Good morning 🌅, Again, That was great news that your property has finally sold, congratulations, it must be a traffic weight off your shoulders, As for this week’s project as per usual it looks amazing,, it even looks like looking into the galaxies, 🌌, well done, Not sure if I mentioned, but a few months ago I picked up a vintage Rubio workbench , over the last week or so I’ve stripped it rebuilt it and it is virtually all back in working order,, Just needs a quick sign down and a coat of wax polish, i do have a problem with my jointer , SCM Class 420 , directly I put power to it. It blows the main fuse., I’m not a very good at electrics, especially when it comes to 3 phase, Not what I’d like to be touching, as there is a very large transformer in there, I don’t think I’ll even say ouch if I touched it, 😮, so I’ve called in electrician not until Monday, hope you and your family all have a great weekend, I suspect you are now celebrating, 🥳, and getting ready for the move, Hopefully your workshop will be up and running at your new location very soon , stay safe. Keep up the great work., From France.
Good morning 🌅, 😂 , I just had to stop watching you just said it’s all been officially sold and I yelled yippee yay, 🙌, well done. I’m now carrying on watching.
Firstly, CONGRATULATIONS on successfully selling your house! It's been a minute but now your new adventure is in full swing. Secondly, the colour on these bowls reminds me of space and it's absolutely stunning. ❤
Once again, you have taken what most people consider a piece of firewood, and transformed it into a beautiful set of bowls. Very well done Jim 👍. Thanks for sharing and take care. PS Congratulations on the sale of your house.
Holy cow! Yet another in the growing list of favorites! The bowls are gorgeous! The wood has lots of interest and the epoxy is just alive with Hypershift! Kudos again, Jim!
Love the way you "rescue" what someone might call junk wood pieces. This one made you work for it but the end result is great. Also... can't wait for "sewing class" as a seamstress!!! :D
These turned out gorgeous! I absolutely love, love, love these two bowls!!! I wish I had remembered that your time is EASTERN time! After that first coat of Waterlux gloss, I was amazed at how much the hypershift came out so beautifully! Love the finished product, Jim! You are truly a master craftsman. As hard as this one was, it came out amazing!!!! Designer Epoxy!
When lit from above the resin areas look like stormy skies in a thunder storm, with lightning strikes - they’re stunning I love the depth of colours through the cherry that the resin caused as well 😃
Designer Epoxy Jim, I need to say thank you. Over the years you have shown me how to use soapstone, alabaster, hickory nuts, and limbs to fill gaps and trenches using Starbond CA. I copied your faceplates and your method for dipping them in hot glue to attach to blanks. Thanks to you, I have used about 10 gallons of Designer Epoxy this year. In addition, you have shown me how to use a vacuum chamber and a pressure tank to process turnings. I use Mike Hunter's Hercules and Osprey tools. I have learned to be a much better wood turner because of your informative TH-cam videos. You have helped me with hollowing and coring. Last Monday, I demonstrated the use of resin at the Ark-La-Tex woodturners meeting. The presentation lasted nearly two hours and they had many questions. Your TH-cam site was mentioned frequently. Thank you for being my mentor. Take care, Mac
Congratulations on the confirmed sale of your house. Exciting times. You sure turned that rotted wood to something beautiful even after all the thermal cracks. Way to go. Designer Epoxy
I'm not typically a fan of the darker color, but this piece gives me an outer space vibe, so very cool! It may also be the shiniest piece you've ever made. You never disappoint Jim!
I love the contrast between the light wood and the dark epoxy. The hyper shift must be spectacular in person. I hope the new owner is happy with them, I would be.
I love it when you make matching/coordinating pieces like this. What a wonderful family treasure Don and his family will have. I'm a big fan of the hypershift and love how you used it in the cracks too. You're such a wonderful inspiration for creative problem solving, even for non-turners like me!!
I think each of these bowls are beautiful. The color looks more dark brown than black on my screen. Thanks for the fun. Great news about your house and future building project. Having been around construction all my life, I would enjoy videos of your construction of your shop and house. Take care and good luck with all the work you are facing.
How pretty those turned out. And I have gotten so used to watching you turn out board it looks peculiar to watch you turn right-handed 😅😊Love it, Jim. And congratulations on the closing of the house!!!!
Looks awesome Jim! Love Cherrywood! Congratulations to you and your wife!!! So glad it's officially sold! Selling a house can be a right pain in the ... But it's done now. Next, moving, yeah! So much fun😢 just keep your destination in mind it might make packing and moving easier! Thanks again Jim!
Thanks for the mentoring! Your voice overs are very educational for those of us that are relative beginners in woodturning. I can't wait for the cherry and walnut I picked up several months ago to dry out. Beautiful project once again with Designer Epoxy.
I really love the hypershift in the black, it gives such gorgeous galaxy vibes, so mesmerising! A beautiful set Jim, I am impressed every week when you turn such broken, junky scraps of wood into masterpieces!
LOVE THIS A BOWL LOVE BOWL MAKING 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 SO SO HAPPY YOU SOLD YOUR HOUSE == HA HA NOW THE FUN MOVING 🥰🥰😃 WOW MANY CRACKS BUT KNOWING YOU IT WILL BE FIXES AND LOOK GREAT = WOW TWO BOWELS CAME OUT VERY PRETTY - JIM LOVE THE BOWL BIG ONE -- LITTLE ONE IS CUTE TOO -- THANKS JIM HUGS 💖💖💖💖💖💖
I really enjoy watching you work and make treasures. You have such talent. Love the hyper shift. These are great bowls. Wish I could buy a piece from you, but I enjoy watching a true artisan at work 💜
Jim, I loved the content. It's nice that you are recording your move. Loved seeing the sceneries along the way. Looking forward to the "workshop series."
They are both breathtaking! You persevered through all the issues to create things of beauty. They are now my absolute favorites. As you said the contract is perfect. I love these pieces. Congratulations on finalizing the sale of your house. Good luck organizing the move. Thank you for keeping us updated. Awesome job as always Jim!
Absolutely amazing, the two bowls turned out absolutely fantastic. The hyper shift is amazing. The color contrast is also very appealing. Once again, I’d like to thank you for your great craftsmanship and your ability to teach and show the techniques of returning. I also like thank you for taking the time to make the video great teaching tool for everybody. I hope you have a great week and a great weekend and congratulations on the sale of your house.
Dear Jim, both bowls are really super! The combination of the colors is great, I'm always fascinated by this DESIGNER EPOXY with those hypershift colors! Great! Best regards to you and your family and all the members of our community. Have a nice weekend, yours, Wolfgang.
Jim, to me, the hyper-shift on the large bowl looks like a starry night! Absolutely beautiful. The smaller bowl is like moonlight on the water in the Islands. Designer Epoxy.
Beautiful classic shape. Impossible for you to have done this before you started using the Designer Epoxy. The color choices add elegance to the finished piece. Great to hear that your house sale is moving forward and best wishes for the transition period before your new house is built.
Oh my gosh, those are *stunning*!!! Wow! Thank you so much for sharing your time and talents with all of us! Your tutorials are so informative, and mesmerizing to watch! ☺️ I really appreciate you!
I really didn't think the black pearl resin was going to work but as usual you choose the right color for the wood this is absolutely gorgeous and the gold just sets it off
What a great salvage of cherry wood! The bowls are very nice, the black with hypershift looks really elegant. Great job, Jim. Also congrats on firm sale of house!🎉
Oh wow, this is a gorgeous set! I especially love the hypershift - in regular lighting it has a bit of a space/galaxy look to it but with the inside lighting, it's like you're looking at liquid flame (or perhaps a sun, to carry on with the space theme my mind sees.) Absolutely glorious, well done!
Hi Jim, they both are beautiful. Wood is amazing and adding resin just anything could happen. The shine is brilliant. Delight the house is sorted. Take care. 🎉🎉
Hi Jim, I'm so happy for you and your wife on the sale of your home. That has to be a big weight off of y'all's shoulders. I was so surprised to see so thermal cracking coming from the Designer Epoxy. I know that there is always a chance of it happening, but most of the time, it seems not to happen. Have a blessed weekend.🙏 😊 ❤
Jim: Nice piece this week. Good to hear that the house is sold. Going to miss dropping in to see you. Maybe a road trip in the future. The cherry and resin mixture is interesting. Looks a bit like outer space with the slight swirls on the inside of the bowl. All the best neighbour.
Well I like almost everything you turn and learn something on every video!! I’m a fan of Designer Epoxy, much better than others!! Looking forward to see your new shop!!
No such thing as substandard wood. It’s all made by the greatest Craftsman ever. It just takes more caring from the human craftsman. 😁 You care a lot, Jim.
Hi Jim….Don here. When I dropped the cherry crotch off a couple of years ago, there was doubt as to wether or not a bowl could be had. As I said in my text to you “ you hit this one out of the park”. So neat to hear the whole story, with the thoughts of the person who owned the tree and now owns the beautiful bowls. Thanks for that Don!!

I love watching both the creative and problem solving process. Lovely result😊! Congratulations to you and your wife on the sale of your current home.
I would buy that book in a split minute!

Absolutely gorgeous! The wood is wonderful, but the black epoxy with the Hypershift... it looks like a dark night sky filled with stars. Just breath taking.
Designer Epoxy
Thank you very much!
To most people, that's not even good firewood. And you turned it into this stunning keepsake. You're a genius 😊
Thank you so much 😀
Always happy when you're able to get a core bowl rather than wasting that wood. 😊
So true! Thank you!
Another Friday morning watching a true artisan at work. Thank you Jim. Designer Epoxy.
Enjoy! Thank you very much!
I like these bols. The epoxy colour with hyper-shift fits perfectly too. Thanks Jim.

Designer Epoxy. Love how your able to turn a potential waste core into a very nice bowl set.
Glad you like it! Thanks!
I really didn't think the black pearl resin was going to work but as usual you choose the right color for the wood this is absolutely gorgeous and the gold just sets it off
Thanks so much!
Absolutely beautiful the hypershift makes the black look like a galaxy in space. 🌌 Congratulations on selling your house. 🎉🎉
Thank you very much!
What a great salvage of cherry wood! The bowls are very nice, the black with hypershift looks really elegant. Great job, Jim. Also congrats on firm sale of house!🎉

Thanks so much!
I absolutely love the dark and light colors on this. That contrast is so beautiful! Designer Epoxy saving wood from the scrap heap again!! Gorgeous!!
Thank you so much!
I really like the colors - the lighter cherry, the resin-saturated rotten wood, and the black designer epoxy with the hypershift.
Thanks so much!
That is a fabulous set of bowls, you've hit it just right, Jim. Great news on the house.
Thanks so much!
Two beautiful pieces! Love that hypershift and when the epoxy is lighted up at the end, it looks like a thunderous sky. Awesome effect!
Thanks so much!
I love watching you. I can't afford your work because I'm living on a fixed income but your work is awesome
Thanks very much!
Jim these two bowls turned out amazing and that hyper shift really is stunning, brilliant job.
Many thanks!
Interesting combination Jim!
Great example of how to save wood using the coring system and repair the cracks.
Thanks for another great video.😎
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks!
There're some great colors in this one, well done. Congratulations again on selling the house!
Thanks so much!
Jim, like the coring and the added plus of getting additional bowls. The final bowl looks terrific. The finish really pops.
Designer epoxy
Thank you very much!
Jim: Nice piece this week. Good to hear that the house is sold. Going to miss dropping in to see you. Maybe a road trip in the future. The cherry and resin mixture is interesting. Looks a bit like outer space with the slight swirls on the inside of the bowl. All the best neighbour.
Yes, we will miss this place too! Never thought I would say that when I was here the first time in 89, lol. Thanks
Well I like almost everything you turn and learn something on every video!! I’m a fan of Designer Epoxy, much better than others!!
Looking forward to see your new shop!!
Awesome, thank you!
Beautiful set of bowls Jim. Well if she doesn't like the bowls I'll take them 😄😄 She'll like them.
Thank you very much!
That hypershift in the black looks like you've trapped nebulae in the epoxy. Beautiful depth and interest!
Thanks!
Stunningly impressive your attention to detail with your workarounds. Thanks for sharing!!
Designer Epoxy
My pleasure!
From trash to treasure. Great look bowls. Designer Epoxy

I love the pieces made with 'substandard' wood. They always end up looking fascinating. A+
So glad the house sold. Congratulations!
No such thing as substandard wood. It’s all made by the greatest Craftsman ever. It just takes more caring from the human craftsman. 😁 You care a lot, Jim.
Thanks so much!
Thanks! Much appreciated!
Talent behind the tool rest week in and week out. Thank you for sharing your talents!
