Lately, gamers and TH-cam celebrities have been getting A LOT of flak from TV and other news publications. From articles that dismiss us to videos that outright attack and make fun of us. Be it Jimmy Kimmel questioning video games as entertainment with the launch of the TH-cam Gaming app to the Teen Choice Awards purposely mispronouncing PewDiePie's name. What is going on here? Has anyone ever considered that the type of content that we make on TH-cam is "dumbed down" because we're just normal people having fun? No, of course not. We're all idiots who don't belong, regardless of the fact that hundreds of millions of people enjoy what we do.

I love Let's Plays, so I don't really disagree with you, but a lot of us watch sports because we're physically incapable of playing those sports to the level of the professionals and there's a thrill in seeing people perform to a level the vast majority of people never could; whereas most of us have the videogame skills of a Let's Player, we're just not as funny/charming/good at playing and talking at the same time. It can be frustrating sometimes watching a (popular) Let's Play where the player is not making jokes AND playing worse than we would.

Here it is, 5 years later, and traditional media is struggling and trying to make the leap to TH-cam and digital platforms. They kind of screwed themselves over 5 years ago...
The best part about this whole "traditional media" VS. "TH-cam" situation is that the successful tubers like Pewds, Markiplier, and even yourself, don't need the media to be on your side. As you guys succeed and flourish, they continue to fade into obscurity ... pretty soon all the late night talk hosts and magazine editors will just be shouting into a void. I think that's pretty funny.

If you want to give him a second Chance, You'll need a video where he isn't being annoying, Luckily, as a Kind of, Kind of not PewDiePie fans, I know of plenty. All of his Penumbra: Black Plague let's play is pretty down to earth, and his Facade let's play is pretty funny. His Until Dawn LP is more or less serious, And his Telltale Playthroughs are very good.

I think it's because in today' society people are starting to appreciate and enjoy REAL people being entertaining rather than actors just playing a role, it's why I like watching Mrs. Browns Boys, they don't do any re-recordings, in fact the try their best to memorize lines and go live, I remember one episode mrs. brown fell through a window on set, they kept it on the recording because that's what they did, they stayed in character too and it was sooo foooking hilarious XD.

You know, I remember a time before TH-cam when I used to watch people play games. I believe that's what people do sometimes when they go over to a friend's house or watch their siblings play a game. TH-cam didn't make this a strange occurrence, it merely made it known. Mind numbing shows such as "catching up with the Kardashians" and "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" have become big staples in the television world. And then theres Pewdiepie who has given MILLIONS to charities, Tyler Oakley who has taught people acceptance of the homosexual community, Vsauce who promotes education and learning in a fun and efficient way, Source Fed who reports the big current news stories with fun, relatable people, and Mat Pat who shows patterns, mathematics, underlying plots and storylines, and cultural references in VIDEO GAMES. If anything, TH-cam is far superior to tv in every way. And these people attacking it are just doing so because they can't accept that the younger generations are moving on and focusing on something that isn't them.

When people who watch sports call us out for watching the game, instead of playing it... Then why do they watch the game, but not play the sport? So it goes both ways. Or, they could be watching to see how the players will play, just like us, our favorite youtuber's reactions to a game, and how they get through it.

See, people really like watching gamers like Pewdiepie and Markiplier and Jacksepticeye and CTK and other people I don't have time to mention... people like watching them play games so that they can get a taste of the game themselves, or to see their reaction. By screaming at the sight of a ghost, they're making people all around the world laugh. That's why.
Exactly, plus, most of us dont have the money to buy a ps4 or a wii u! But for soccer and other sports, that equipment is about 10 - 20 dollars. That may sound a bit pricey, but a ps4 cost about 300 dollars, and the controller, 50. Sport equipment is cheap compared to games. People just keep forgetting that.

In February 2017, TH-cam and PewDiePie's network cut some ties with PewDiePie because a set of three reporters from the Wall Street Journal published an article claiming that certain recurring jokes on his channel were anti-semetic and racist, and implying that he was knowingly inspiring nazi hate groups.
The claims were unsubstantiated, but they had enormous consequences for Felix and his channel because, before anyone could fact-check the claims, TH-cam and the network dropped him to avoid being associated with him in a media controversy. A TH-cam Red production he worked on was cut and never published, he lost a business he was starting with the network, and took an enormous amount of heat for things he never said or did.
The youtube creator community almost universally defended him, but their voice got drowned out by the "traditional media" voices who jumped on the bandwagon for reasons described in MatPat's video.

The media should be scared about TH-cam taking over. If they have to go so low as to make fun of other people in order to get attention they're just delaying the inevitable loss of their viewers.
