well i liked it so much i traded in a 2017 jeep wrangler for a 2024 crosstrec wilderness and haven't looked back. It's a fantastic car and i absolutely love it
How many times do we have tell these car manufactuers we dont want gloss black? It's NOT Grrrreat!
This is one of the best reviews I've watched. Your family seems great, and the things you touch on are valid and relevant. Really keep up the great work!
Nice review of the Subie. Actually took it off-road and showed what it can do. Really liked it and the car showed well. Thank you.
Love the hummingbird hovering in front of the camera ❤
Great review guys!
I hope you and your family have a merry Christmas and a happy new year!!!!
Love the Crosstrek, but that multifunction panel is a dealbreaker for me. I'm honestly surprised that a manufacturer, who is so safety conscious, chose to stuff that thing in all of their models.
Shut up and drive.
90% inboard and 60% outboard for the Impreza and 85%/65% for the Crosstrek. They average out to be the same!
I bought the 2024 sport version its been a banger! Drove it from Illinois to Louisiana Im impress haha!
Just bought a 21 Crosstrek Premium for commuting, my first SUV. Not many complaints other than storage, base motor provides plenty of power.
I love that Evie has a shirt within the same color palette as the Subaru! Way to add some style!
I like the badges as they are. Just looked at the one you guys are driving. I hope to be in one before the year ends
(we love our Subarus) 2017 outback, 2018 crosstrek, 2019 crosstrek, 2020 forester, and 2022 forester all struggled with apple carplay (iphone 11 pro). The entire head unit would stop working and the car would have to be shut off / power cycled. The 2022 forester wilderness works perfect with pixel 6 pro. There was a recall on the 2022 forester infotainment unit; maybe they work better with apple now.
Great review
I bought a limited and add few things and love every minute off road
My phone uses RS-232 to interface with the cars mainframe unit. So,this Subaru is golden.
My aux-in is currently in use in my 2015 Impreza 😅. It's in the middle console and absolutely impossible to plug in while seated. It would be sooo nice to have it in the front storage tray like this one. I'd definitely make use of that. Bluetooth seems buggy in Subarus (including mine)
Regarding canned goods, rolling don't y'all ever use those collapsible plastic baskets? Game changer, especially on vehicles that have extra room under the rear floor. Then again, I guess you can't really do the Dolores and Teddy rollplay if you don't let a canned good roll away now and then.
2012 Nissan Frontier Pro-4X. iPhone 15 Pro. Anker Magsafe mount. USB-C to mini-jack adapter with male-to-male audio cable going to... the Aux-in port.
lovely family, cheers
NICE RIDE!!!!
I've never really been a Subaru guy but IMO the Crosstrek Wilderness is so cool... and it looks amazing in green, red, and white!
I had a '24 Crosstrek and for me the seats became very painful after a few days of driving. I ordered a ton of different pillows from Amazon to fix the problem, nothing helped. Held out for months, but had to trade it in. My body feels much better not being in it.
Agree that Premium is the best value trim. The only problem with that is that it comes with the smaller anemic engine.
Anemic is a very ridiculous comment
We have the 24 premium and I feel the 2.0 is decent for highway and city driving in Mi. Coming for a 315 hp camaro to this I am not disappointed but my wife is because she loved her camaro that was totaled this past July.
Just bought a 2024 crosstrek for the price it’s great
What price and trim?
Premium with heated seats and sunroof 27800@@JG90984
I have a 2019 Crosstrek, and I have to say that I think the hatchback area is a bit smaller in the 2024. It seems sloped down toward the back a bit compared to my 2019. Mine is very family friendly luckily. My only complaint is the underpowered 2.0L engine. My next Crosstrek would have the 2.5L. Great car, nice ride, rugged, very practical IMO. Worth buying if you go under $30K.
Also getting the 2019 soon. How’s the MPG?
Been shopping around this particular model/trim around my local area and I'm consistently getting anywhere from $32,000 to $37,000 out the door. Would you still consider it a deal for 32k?
I still have a high fidelity music player. Does that improve music at all while driving?
5:47 Sweetie wilderness ❤
What happened to the new car smell test?
How did you find the driver's seat bottom and the leg extension?
I have learnt that the seat bean designed by a Japanese University researchers to make it the most comfortable for a long driving and it earned many awards and prizes.
Do you think it's good for short people and a senior citizens?
Yeah... We still use an aux jack. Of course, it's in our 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan with 250,000 miles on it.
Evie is giving Andrea from Motomouth competition for haute couture!
she’s giving?
@@gustavmahler3228 Hi Prof. Feynman. Glad to see you resurrected! I enjoyed your books. Hope you have a happy afterlife.
@@hereigoagain5050 always good to meet a fan! have you read “surely you’re joking?”
so...when is Evie gonna lead off in the driver's seat? 🤔 Couple things. 1. needs 3 pedals. 2. needs BRZ FA24 (w/D-4s) 3. needs bigger factory fogs 4. wish it were a tad longer for a more wagon-like experience. 5 needs thicker glass and more (road) noise suppression
You guys need to have a grade or factor rating for shiny black plastic that scratches and dusts easy
I have it in my '22 Outback Limited.... I would have preferred another finish, but it's easy to keep clean, and since we're not pigs, it doesn't get scratched or worn after 2 1/2 years of ownership.
I love this car. Definitely my next purchase. But Apple is ditching CarPlay. Any idea how Subaru will mange this going forward?
I have a ‘22 WRX and every now and then it won’t connect to my phone for CarPlay. It keeps giving an error message. It goes away, usually not that day though. And it does happen at least once a month. As usual, dealer says they can’t find the problem (software was updated twice).
Completely agree that this is NOT a family friendly car! I had a ‘20 and when I had my kid I had to trade it in because the cargo space would never be enough.
Depends upon what the needs of the particular family may be! What works for one won't for another.
Once the kids are out of the stroller phase it gets a lot easier.
If you get cross bars for the roof it really opens up the cargo options. You can throw the wagon up there for the day trips or a cargo box for the big road trips.
I had 2 kids with a similar sized vehicle (Prius) and did just fine. You just need to plan your packing a little more.
Chex bag clearance is the unit of measurement I’m here for.
We’ve adopted the Kiddo System for all size, distance, and volume measurements.
I do use the aux in on my 2011 RAV4
removing the door logos is a bad idea as they are not just adhesive but have holes in the door behind them
As a Outback owner, the crosstrek is much smaller cut back vehicle, not to say that's a bad thing.
Calling it a SUV is a stretch, more like a large car. But for mountain/snow adventures it's very capable.
I found the driver seat felt much more cramped compared to the Outback seat even though being just as comfortable. I'm 6'2 and have slept in the back of the outback with my partner, something impossible with the crosstrek.
The kids have plenty of room in the back even with my seat all the way back.
Great review!

I know it’s common to see cladding on vehicles like this but it’s WAY too excessive on the Crosstrek Wilderness. It looks more like a Rorschach test than anything rugged.
UNTIL you start driving this Wilderness back in the woods. Opinions will then change...
For a majority of people, it won’t change because they won’t take it off-road. Only a handful of owners will ever take it off road and most of that would be dirt and gravel at best.
The cladding is more of a design aesthetic than anything purposeful for off roading. Even Subaru will tell you that.
Yup more PINE CONES than snow on the mountain this time of year now sadly...
Great vehicle in everyway, except a draw back of cargo space when the whole point of CT is for a trip/camping. I also question the $35K+ price tag for Wilderness - really?! Might as well camping in your backyard!
Maybe mid-twenties this car is absolutely worth it but over 30,000 you open yourself up to far better driving and spacious cars.
And they are AWD and as capable as this vehicle...... right? 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
@@eskieman3948 For 34,000 easily.
Name one or more?
@@tommymas1 Mazda cx-30. Done and done. Look no further if you are going to spend that money. If you are going that much just get the outback. Like I said. If you are sticking with the base or lower trims this car is worth it for the off road... But when you are well into 30k. Nahhh. That engine ir way too slow and CVT.
@justinmwilcox You don't know what you're talking about. The CX-30 easily gets up to 35K. Also, you can't fit most humans in the backseat. The AWD of the CX-30 is not continuous and its primarily front wheel drive unless wheels start slipping. 😁😄
Hello family , good job please Do a complete Snow Test Drive uphills and downhill and compare it with other Subaru models please tell us which Subaru SUV you liked best 🍁🍁🌹🌹👍
How does the interior space compare to say, a honda fit? Because we have a three person family and were absolutely fine in a fit, this seems like it would be plenty family friendly based on the criteria outlined. I wonder if you guys have just gotten a little too used to all SUVs all the time?
2:39 photo bombed by a hummingbird. 😂
No hummingbird but a bug.
Does this support wired apple carplay in the higher trims ?
Yep.
did you try I drive and S drive to see the power difference
i love it
Hello my brothers i am FROM tajikistan
Yes, yes I do use an "aux in" for a CD player in my '19 Frontier. Sometimes for the 8-track....
Please review the tesla model y.
Nice vehicle, especially for the price.
If you can do the new Subaru Legacy Sport
Not an automotive doctor, but you may want to have that plastic cladding biopsied. The uneven bordders and consistent growth could be a sign its cancerous.
LOL! Best comment ever! I always suspected plastic cladding.
No way I would suggest the sport trim. It has everything like the wilderness at a lower price.
“Do you still use an AUX in?” What are we doing here?
But how does it smell?
That is the Wilderness edition.
Bring back the VW GOLF WAGON
Clap on clap off, the clapper!
I like it, but my insurance would be through the roof if I got this one. That’s Triple A
What? That doesn't seem to make sense.
went way too crazy with the plastics and stuff on this trim
Long time Subaru driver but the designs since 2023 have lost me. I've moved on. Next gen needs to dial back the crazy exteriors to win me back.
Aux in? ::Rushes to Subaru Dealership::
My real complaint about the new crosstrek is where is the manual transmission, it will be nice to have a manual transmission with the 2,5l engine.....
The manual transmissions are gone with the Crosstrek. The sales volume didn't justify having that option any more.
This car has an "AUX IN?" Then, I'm in! Bluetooth makes music sound more gritty and flat. Kind of like the difference between a low bit-rate MP# and a CD. Ah...to be in the position to chuck out an existing vehicle because one doesn't like the stereo and replace with THIS Subaru. In my dreams...
Omg!!! 35k for that pile….. hell to the nooooo
I don't see why anyone would buy one of these when a RAV 4 is similarly priced, more capable, and better quality. RAV4 hybrid also gets much better gas mileage.
Can't drive a rav 4 on trails off road 🤷🏼♀️
@@JennLynn13 Exactly. You can't drive a Crosstrek off road either.
Wow. Hadn't seen you guys in a while. That little one is growing up so much! She is looking very much like a daddy's girl.
Still, I'm not buying AWD with a CVT. That's flirting with disaster. Sube's had its own problems with CVTs. So have early Jeep Renegades, as well as previous gen Patriots and Compasses. Anybody ever heard of a Nissan Rogue? CVTs and AWD: bad combo.
Earlier Patriots/Compasses 2007 to 2013 had the junkiest Jatco CVT on the planet ..... Then finally they added a 6-speed auto stick in 2014 .... So I bought a new 2014 latitude with the 6-speed 2.4L AWD and it is an absolute fantastic SUV and a total beast in the snow .... So the only Pats to buy would be 2014 to 2017(Last year for the Pat) and as far as the Compasses I think around 2018 or 19 they upgraded them with a completely different motor trany configuration which they are still making them today.
Don't know if the new Compass is any good or not but those 14 to 17 Pats are great SUV's with right combination.
Japanese manufacturers seem to be as afraid of interesting materials and dashboard design as American manufacturers are afraid of reliability.
Needs large panoramic sunroof.....back seat looks very dark
Large panoramic sunroofs absolutely suck in the South & the West.
No aux in. Using my cassette deck. Be kind rewind.
lmao at this not being "family friendly"
YOu don't need that little window to see what is there changing lanes-- THAT IS WHAT MIRRORS ARE FOR- and if you have "blind spot"-- you have them SET WRONG. You said it's NOT exciting- to drive-- it SHOULD be-- for that design- but THAT is another strike against it- along with the Certainly Verified Trash (CVT) which is exactly that- trash. and I don't like the way it sounds like it's going to fly apart just trying to get up to speed on the freeway... NO- too many negatives... which is sad--- because it looks like a FUN design.
All of that black cladding looks hideous, though ...🤮
And yet, so many competitors to the Subaru Wilderness vehicles are steadily increasing the amount of "black cladding" on their cars. Hmmmm....
Hideous, yet functional. *IF* used as advertised, the cladding will protect the paint from scratches and chips. It’s much cheaper to replace the cladding than it is to have the car repainted.
A big no to all of that tacked on plastic on the exterior. Looks so cheap and fussy looking.
Scratched plastic vs. scratched paint - your choice.
I actually like the cladding. I’d get the cheaper one but it doesn’t have the cladding.
Be careful from that colors. protect your daughter from brain wash
Subaru should be embarrassed for producing such a low horsepower vehicle.
Everything your wife says sounds like a question. Her voice goes up at the end of every statement. That's aside from her cartoon voice.
I won't buy a car with a snowmobile transmission - you can pry my slushbox out of my cold, dead, um, oily fingers....
Then don't buy it! And watch how almost ALL of the other car manufacturers are steadily incorporating CVTs into their product offerings, whether we want them or not.
