FYI for the Canadian viewers, every Crosstrek in Canada comes with heated seats, and the heated steering wheel is standard on all Crosstreks except for the entry-level "Convenience" model. This includes the new Wilderness version.

I could live with the 2.5 engine -but to get me to trade up from my current Crosstrek, Subaru would have to offer an automatic or manual transmission. Also, I would do the “gold accent” delete mod -the “wilderness badges” are enough!

Wilderness trim is the best argument to buy a Crosstrek ever. It’s worth the price. Buy one now while it’s relatively unknown. I assume demand will jump and prices will increase. That said, if you like a more basic car the standard trims are still excellent and capable.

Good review, dig the updates to the Crosstrek! I have a '22 Crosstrek Sport that I use as my daily driver in CO and it's been fantastic and handles whatever I need. Easy to live with like you say. I average 29-30MPG in a combination of highway and city miles. I've just been using the stock Yokohama all season geolanders and they've performed really well in snow and ice for me, so I'll probably look at getting the A/T version that's on these or something equivalent. Love these Wilderness models, such fun cars.

CVT’s have a bad rep because of Nissans in the late 2000’s when they first came out but today they’re fine. Subaru and Honda make really good CVT’s most people can’t tell.

@@theparadigmshift74 I own a 2021 limited crosstrek that i purchased used @25000 miles and the previous owner who had maintained the car well told me the only reason he didn't want the car anymore was because he realized the CVT fluid had to be changed every 30000 miles. i didn't have an issue with that since i drive a lot but when i went for my 30k service, the dealer told me the CVT fluid color was like new and no evaporation losses either, so there was no need to change it but recommended a flush at 60000 miles and drain and fill every 30000 miles after that (no flush after 60000 miles). i believe the Crosstrek hybrid has a eCVT (gear and motor) so fluid changes if any are every 100k miles. i think the upcoming hybrid is not a plug in but has the same toyota tech.

@@vipvip-tf9rw I've got over 20 master mechannics all around the country- and they ALL say CVTs are NOt good- at first- maybe- but later the become a pain and if a defect develops- they're expensive and a pain to get serviced. I DO NOT like them-- if you do- More power to you. The UNDERPOWERED is not for slippery- it's for getting my big ass on the freeway without getting run over. Out in slippy areas- all one needs to do is keep the foot LIGHTER on the accelerator. I grew up running moonshine and driving trucsk and LIVE in areas where winter are deep wet snow and slippery mud- so I KNOW how to drive in it- and we used powerful v-8s.. I acknowledge that Subarus are EXCEPTIONALLY GOOD vehicles and the AWD is THE best in the industry BAR NONE-- but i said the FEEL cheap- sound cheap and I just can't get past that- and the cvt kills it FOR ME- NOT knocking it for anyone else.

Look at the heated seat buttons. They borrowed them from a Subaru back in the 90's! A few massive problems with Subaru. CVT transmissions, they are horrid no matter what anyone tells you. Zero responsiveness or passing power. While they have improved their interiors, as soon s you get to the shifter area it goes all 1990's again, looks cheap, feels cheap. The engines are far too underpowered. MPG on all Subaru's are disgustingly awful, though you could say the same of all cars in the USA, they are made to give crap MPG. Talking of 27mpg in a car this small with that small of an engine is a joke. It should be in the high 30's lows 40's. Prices!!! Yes everything is expensive but Subaru's are not cheap for what you get. I think Subarus appeal to a lot of people because most people have no interest in driving or an interest in cars. Therefore Subarus work. They are bland, boring, slow, not at all luxury or that comfortable to drive, with awful CVT, weak engines with no power. That says a lot about the people that buy them.
