- On this episode of "Somebody's Gotta Do It", Mike Rowe gets SERIOUS air in a pig-shaped hot air balloon. Yes, you read that right. Then, in a fit of spontaneity, he climbs aboard a hang glider and takes to the skies once again.

I admire Mike's ability to deal with heights and remain composed and humorous. I would be frozen in terror.
I think he has gotten better at dealing with it due to all the times they stuck him up high (like the Mackinac Bridge). I was surprised when he was the one who said "Gotta do that" about the hang gliding, though.
It’s funny to me that I’ve spent months on end living at the depths of the sea, but the shear thought of a hot air balloon makes me so anxious to the point of diarrhea 😂😂😂😂
I admire his ability to let another man hug him at 2000 feet lol
@@user-vh7ki7xu7o whispering sweet nothings in his ear 😂
Agreed!
Mike, the best part about you over all the years is how you interact with others. Such a pleasure to everyone.
Mike Rowe is a great master of sentences, and stories. Thanks Mike
Mike's pure childish joy while hang-gliding is so awesome. You could tell it was no longer about the show but rather experiencing something that, in the end, touched his heart!
Welcome to my world Mike. I have been flying a Hang Glider and getting high (about 8,000ft) for over 50 years.
Once your feet leave the ground, your view of the world will be forever changed!
That's awesome Calglider! I've always wanted to try hang gliding. I'm sure I will become instantly addicted to it as soon as I'm airborne.
@@ericcox6764 I've never done drugs but I am sure I understand addiction. I'm only at 10 years but no sign of stopping.
People need to be hitting that LIKE BUTTON more!! This is great entertainment!
Wonderful! Thanks Mike & Team. I've always wanted to see all of this and now I can! Thank you for continuing your show!
Wow wow wow .... two different flying disciplines , both hosted by awesome people ... and Mr Rowe ... I have to say , we could feel how stoked you were after the second flight .. or was that pure relief ... Love your programs .. thank you !!!
His complete joy and excitement was so real that was awesome
God. I, and I can not stress this enough, love this man.
Yes another episode. Love this show Mike & Crew keep up the great work. Always look forward to this show.
Ya know, I tend to judge entertainment (& life, for that matter) by how often I can chuckle... Be assured that just the sight of Mr. Rowe, brings a smile of anticipation, for all grins, chuckles, education & ethics in action, that will follow ! Thanx !
those were two happy little boys that landed at the end. those ear too ear smiles, lol great episode. look really fun
Fun fact, the T2 hang glider (the pink front leading edge one) was made in Chelan, Washington. I worked for the manufacturing company for 7 years. The Malcolm and Laura are amazing people!
Kamron at Northwing builds good gliders. I use the freedom 220 for tandems.
Laurie is smoking hot and pilots smiled pleasantly when she was around.
Fond memories...
you know, that actually was a "fun fact", unlike most of the time when people say that
My dad flew for years and even taught. Sadly never me. You’ve touched one of my dreams. Vicariously I’ve enjoyed your moment. Thank you.
Awesome! Please keep doing what you're doing! We all love it!
Wallaby is a great place to learn! Malcom is a legendary character in the Hang Gliding scene. Glad you got to taste a bit of our world!
What a great episode!!! I really enjoyed the hang gliding audible!!!
Welcome to my neck of the woods! I often see those balloons as I'm driving up around Orlando on the weekends. I didn't know there was also a hang gliding business, that looks like a lot of fun! Malcolm seems like my kind of people too, and I'd have to go shoeless as well.
I have to admit, Mike, while you were flying that hang glider, expressing your joy, I tried to imagine I was there to and I wept. God that looks beautiful.
I’ve wanted to do both of these things for a long time. I did manage to go up in a balloon a few years ago, but it was just a quick tethered flight. By the time he finished the hang glider flight I was getting teary, seeing how moved and amazed Mike was. I want these experiences even more now!
Great episode! I'm a fixed wing pilot but I have always wondered about these types of aircraft.
Mike, you are one brave soul. Thanks for sharing your adventures.
Mike Rowe has been and still is living his best life and he's so amazingly phenomenal. I could watch him like I used to watch Jacque Cousteau.
I have always wanted to go hang gliding. 😊
Mike, you always bring a smile to my face. God Bless you man!
Every episode gets better and better.
That hang gliding segment was sweet!
Thanks to Mike Rowe I have added this ranch and adventure to my list. Mike and his crew always put out the most interesting topics and do the actual thing. Mike has been one of my favorite tv shows no matter what he and his crew are tackling. Thank You Mr Rowe for your hard work and intelligence in everything you do. Love the quick funny retorts. Keep it coming.
Amazing just to see the fun in Mikes face after the Kite fly. Still like a little Kid. Adorable.
The balloon pilot is THE BOSS!
I have been blessed to be able to do many things in my life and I can say hang gliding is by far the best!!!
Mike rowe is my biological favorite uncle
👏🤣👏
Yeah mine also...
Just need to merry the right person first. Also, have to get him to know I'm alive...
Docs are sure I will have 3-5yrs to do that.
You can identify as anything you want these days… 🫠
I want to have Mike Rowe’s baby. But alas, I am male and not capable of bearing child. Only females can do that.

@@ryan49805 I think I am going with good person, great soldier, and bad man
13:29 The laugh of a nervous Mike Rowe, lmao
Hey Mikey! I liked it, I liked it a lot. Great episode, kudos to your crew and you, too! Absolutely, 'No pig in a poke", here. Cheers, Mate
Just love you Mike Rowe❤❤❤
Definitely something for the bucket list! Admire Mike and what he introduces us to so very much!! Thank you, sir!!
Thank you for another episode and another great day
I’ve been hang gliding thanks to an exgf and a birthday! Did it exactly the same, got towed up by a plane and released. Also had to get certified as a co-pilot before we could launch
I've been in a glider plane before and it was wonderful! But that looks cool!
im unbelievably happy mike is on TH-cam
This made me so happy! Thank you so much for flying!!!! If you loved it, I hope you consider start taking classes and be your own hang gliding pilot😉
Gotta tell you,i m 65 and afraid of heights but i gotta do this,Thanks Mike, that was awesome
This program is the top on my list of tops. Thank you discovery channel.
Loved that experience in my youth. Glad to see you do it as well.
I remember flying a hang glider for the first time in my early 20's, such a rush to fly with the birds. Glad you enjoyed it Mike!
Now 420 AND PIGS ARE FLYING HIGH THANKS MIKE R.
Mike you really need to go to Albuquerque New Mexico for the Big Balloon rally! You will be amazed! Once you have flown in a balloon you are hooked!
I love how Mike is so down to earth on how he speaks the truth about waking up early!
Ha!! So loved this one Mike! Aussies hey!! We invented hang gliding, Hills hoist, Victa mower, the Black Box...we're a bloody awesome bunch aren't we!! Thanks for a wonderful ep, where you obviously had a lot of fun!! Peace and Love from Australia
I've been flying hang gliders for over 44 years. Mountain and cliff launches. I've flown as high as 12,300' in California.
Malcolm at Wallaby Ranch Hang Gliding, thought me to aerotow 10 yrs ago. He and his crew are the best.
Mike thank you for being willing to try all these things.
Such a great show! I’ve binged every episode so far after recently finding it🫡🤌🏼 Mike is the man!
As a person who is horribly afraid of heights one of the highlights of my life was taking a hot air balloon ride. I’d always thought it seemed like a beautiful experience but my fear overwhelmed me. My husband challenged that by gifting us a ride one Christmas. It took almost a year for me to book the flight but we went on a beautiful Fall evening and it was perfect, everything I’d wanted it to be. That started years of challenges to do the things that deep down caused me fear and I’m still doing so. I’m not an adrenaline junkie, it’s only to let myself know that I’m able to make reasonable choices to calm my mind.
Dude...I've followed you since WAY back....and one of your MAJOR qualities is: You KNOW How to get down and dirty.....DOING the deed, skill, trade, craft, etc. THANK YOU for calling attention to the TRADES that make this nation hum. Remember kids, ONLY about 40% of Americans even get a college degree.
Fun as always Mike n’ crew.
I love the history lessons we get in these episodes! Just sayin’
You are the most amazing Mike Just Love you ❤❤❤
Loved the Ballooning
I ballooned in the Napa Valley for 30 years
Love it, thanks Mike and crew
EPIC EPISODE!!! I so want to go hang gliding and ballooning now!!
Absolutely incredible.
I love the spontaneousness of this episode. You could make a whole series about spontaneously walking into peoples lives just to live a day in their shoes.
I learned to fly hang-gliders from Malcolm at Wallaby Ranch, about 25 years ago. Still free-flying at 69. Doesn't look like much has changed at the Wallaby commune. Malcolm and Lori (sp) still look great and still smiling.
Looking fearless Mr. Row
Thanks Mike and crew for showing this adventure.
Mike you look like you truly enjoyed the hand gliding.
As a glider , and hand glider and paragliding pilot welcome to the club and the most beautiful way to fly. If you enjoy flying I highly recommend you try paragliding as well if you never have.
"There's no need to stall"...Hahahaha. Yeah you know. Nice one Mike!
Love this show! Thanks Mike and all!
Mike you rock! Love the channel and content! Peace
Mike is one of my American hero’s!
He who binds himself to joy
does the wing-ed life destroy,
but he who kisses the joy that flies
lives in eternity's sunrise.
Eternity - William Blake
Hang gliders are on my bucket list
It was fun to watch Mike again I miss seeing him on TV. Mike seemed to really enjoy the ride.
Love Mike Rowe and his calming voice
Thanks for the addition to the bucket list
never stop mike, thanks for the fun
Wallaby Ranch just made my bucket list Mike!!
"PIG DOWN" Hilarious!
“Ham-Let for President.”😂
Wow !! Mike’s reaction on hang gliding is priceless!
Time to skydive next! I flipping love it.
Early morning is the best time of day. Close your eyes and listen to nature.
Mike Rowe is one of the bravest guys I've ever known! He's done so many things
Great episode!
Looks really fun and liberating.
Two great guys !
👍😎 That hang glide was awesome. Couldn’t do that.
Thanks Micro for my next vacation plans.
This was great. Thanks..
I loved this episode!
Mike you are the man. Awesome work sir
My Crow, flying and floating!
You gotta love it when Mikes gotta do it!
That was awesome
Hand gliding! Wow
Always enjoy the shows. I’ve always wanted to learn to hang glide. It’s close to last on my bucket list, cuz I’ve got that bad luck
The worst kept secret in the world is the fact that there is no more enjoyable sport than hang gliding. The ability to fly is unbeatable.
Hot Air balloons are fun. I rode in one in Southern CA wine country. Took off from a FLAT vineyard and landed 1 mile in the bushes away from our intended Landing pad. The pilot can only do so much when Mother Nature takes over.
Mike is the man .
Loved it!
Congratulations, Mike, on the safe landing and flying close that beautiful experience..
Mike, looks like your balloon went right over my clubhouse!
