    I hope you´ll enjoy the video and my struggles. I felt shy about posting this video with so many silly mistakes of mine but hey that's what happened if you choose to learn to paraglide I'm sure you will have some funny stories to tell too. Enjoy 🪂

      Welcome to the sport! Nice video.
      You can't be a master while learning, mistakes are expected and part of the process!

      Loved the video, takk 👍
      It's always great seeing people going through the learning of a new skill (and that includes the inevitable 'silly mistakes' 😀)
      Everyone should learn/appreciate the '4 stages of competence' model... both to understand what they will have to go through when doing something new, but also to have some empathy/appreciation for whe n others have to learn something they can already do! 🤓

      This is a good thing to post! It allows you to stay humble in your progression. Humble pilots live longer.
      Live to Fly , and Fly to Live. Safety is important, and Fun is the motivation to stay in the sport. One does not supersede the other. If it's not fun, what's the point, if it's not safe, it's not fun in the long run. Keep learning ALWAYS.
      I really enjoyed watching you learn to fly. I look forward to seeing more of your adventures.

    I'm watching this thinking, where have I seen this guy before? Ah, Skiing videos! I myself have been paragliding for a few years now and thoroughly enjoy it. I enjoy watching other people starting out. Days spent ground handling are never wasted! Ground handling is one of the most important skill-building things you can do. It's great when you start learning to thermal, I did a flight about a week and a half ago 4 hours and 13 minutes. Welcome to the world of Para-waiting! CONGRATULATIONS!!!

    Noone of the beginner pilots looked up at the wing after it inflated before take off. That creates bad habits for their solo flights. Imagine having a cravate on the wing, when the instructor repeated to STOP. When someone shouts stop, you always stop, even if you don't see a point and you have actually looked up right before.

    • @duckraisedbychickens1986
      @duckraisedbychickens1986 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      It's actually not a good habit to visually check the canopy during forward launch. Long story short, given the typical conditions that necessitates forward, looking up (particularly in new pilots) may introduce a short pause (wing unloading) or directional disorientation. Best way to train for proper forward is to build an accurate sense of wing condition thru the feel on the risers and brakes.

  • @WaechterDerNacht

    Was fun seeing this. I used to paraglide myself but ended up having too many hobbies with too much traveling distance (living in the Mittelland and wanting to ski, bike, hike, paraglide, be in a sports club etc.). So after 5 years, 140 flights and 4 times missed practical test i quit.
    Regarding the practical test, you have to do landings in a 30m circle in Switzerland (as one of the exams). I once had the person infront of me (like 30 seconds between us on landing) crash into the car parked like 10 m next to the circle - focus gone. One other time a guy was flying an RC plane on the landing place right until i went into final - focus not on the circle. Another time it lift me up so much on base so i started making S-turns. But soon was at the point that the next guy was there as well and he had priority. So i was flying behind the corn field to land - not in the circle. And yes, one time it was purely on me...
    At this point i was like: f*** that s*** and stopped... and there are not that many days in the year where i really want to fly. So without being somewhere, where I can easily go for a post-work flight or on an afternoon or so, i probably won't start again.

  • @Paiadakine
    @Paiadakine 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    My advice. Take up paragliding when you are younger and stronger. I started at 63 with some extra weight and not in shape and it took me months. Also if you can afford it, take lessons 4 or more days a week. Not just weekends. If the weather is bad you can go 3-4 weeks without flying. Last practice kiting if you can’t get to a lesson. Kiting is 80% of the work. I found thermaling intutive, I try to think like a hawk. If I feel lift I turn. If I lose lift I try to go back to where the lift was.

    ‘If you don’t have fun you will stop doing it’. That can be applied to many sports and many people make these decisions without realising that fact. Why is fun and safety seen as two ends of the spectrum. Why can’t you have a bit of both? Well done all.
