This actually wasn’t the original UFL. It was actually the second incarnation. What I bet a lot of you didn’t know is that their was an earlier incarnation of the UFL back in tbe 60s during the days the war between the NFl and the AFL. The original UFL launched in 1961 and rebranded as the Continental Football League in 1965 and it eventually folded at the end of the 1969 season. How’s that for a fun fact?
I would guess billionaire egos trying to prove they can compete when they can’t or hopes of getting bought out by the nfl but it just doesn’t work that way
I followed the league while it was running. Fun little league. The Florida Tuskers uniforms were always a favorite. I wish more teams would use that shade of blue. I don't know what the stadium situation is, but I think bringing back the Omaha Nighthawks could work.
I believe they played in a minor league baseball stadium. I think they should definitely consider expanding back to Omaha with the love of football for that state.
The original UFL could’ve been the development minor league for the NFL just like the MiLB for the MLB the G League for the NBA and the AHL for the NHL.
A great question: can the current UFL get the rights to all the 2009 UFL franchises or has it already done so? because if so, then it would be a good idea to revive some of those franchises like omaha nighthawks, virginia destroyers, connecticut colonnials, utah locomotives (las vegas before), etc; i hope it comes true.......... PD: I think you should make a video about the new women's professional volleyball league in the usa: pro volleyball federation, for now there are 7 teams but next year there will be 10............ There would be a possibility that they could get more investors to strengthen this league and who knows, a men's league of the same sport could be created, also must to get tv contracts with espn & fox sports; honestly they should do it and moreover this sport is more American than hockey..........
I think the problem with many football organizations is they accept rapid success when you think about it the nfl took years to become what they have become, nfl has a long history of seasons, the nfl wasn’t even the nfl at first they had to merge to become what they would become, a lot people forget they merged to become one league, my advice is build your league and don’t try to become nfl and expect success right away cause it takes time to reach success and eventually with a some history and legacy attach to a league then people are willing to give it a shot, also slowly the nfl expanded into franchises of teams, it took a lot of years to introduce new franchises to the league and like o said they had to merge to gain more teams as well. So in my opinion I think leagues expect success and think they will franchises right away without the realizing the history and team it took for the nfl to be where it is today
I remember this league. Always just barely clinging to life. You cannot compete with the NFL and College Football. You just can't. Also less than 10 teams is not very interesting.
I really wish they would consider going back to Chattanooga I would absolutely love that to happen and for Chattanooga to get a semi-pro hockey team as well
Yeah, I liked it. I think if they had more cities in like Omaha, they would have been OK for a few years. Other than being in the fall, there were some things that were cool and they were realistic in that there were going to be seasons of loss, but they never got that TV deal and that was a problem.
This UFL should've played 3 Down Football and align itself with the CFL. Take the 3 strongest teams and merge with the CFL(this was before the CFL expanded into Ottawa). But there was no way the CFL would've merged with the UFL with that 5 million dollar loan from Mark Cuban
Well I would not have wanted a merger. Ratio rule is the main reason. However, because the CFL and UFL played their championship games on the same weekend ( UFL Saturday - CFL Sunday, ) a champion vs champion game the following weekend would have been fun and interesting. Many I have suggested it to said the Montreal Alouettes would have destroyed the Las Vegas Locomotives. However, that Jim Fassell coached Locos team were real good. I don't think it would be one side either way.
@@davidbuswa9425 because Canadian football is different from American football plus the CFL has lasted longer then all the spring leagues combined they don't need any help they're doing just fine
The UFL you are talking about never felt like it could compete with the NFL. That was never even the goal. How can you start off a video about the UFL on such a false premise
No. The NFL doesn’t need a feeder system & already has practice squads. Football is king in US & there isn’t a shortage of talent like other sports. You don’t compete with the NFL AND CFB.

I did know this and its still cool that others do too.
Why are people so stupid to try during the NFL season. Spring and summer is where you have the only chance for profit.
I would guess billionaire egos trying to prove they can compete when they can’t or hopes of getting bought out by the nfl but it just doesn’t work that way
Yeah plus NFL will pose a Monopoly penalty if any league besides CFB that starts during the NFL season.

Not allowed to play spring football at TD
UFL was a fun league and good quality football. I went to 4 UFL games in Vegas. Fun while it lasted.

Omaha Nighthawks!

The OG UFL intent wasn't to compete with the NFL
it was supposed to be an alternative
@@daregon11 alternative? I guess but even with that it was to bring pro 🏈 to smaller markets NFL doesn't care about small Markets
St Louis Battlehawks!
The og UFL had a terrible business model. Not a good idea to play in the fall.
I remember going to a Sacramento Mountain Lions game, wasn’t too bad. Got to see Daunte Culpepper play.
I REALLY hope the UFL succeeds 🤞🏼🤞🏼
Should do a preview about the newest FCS school UTRGV football
Funny you should say that I have it coming out either tomorrow or Thursday

figuring out a way to bring back the nighthawks would be dope. they had a small but passionate fan base
They will never. They can't play spring football at TD. They were only allowed to play in the fall.

We need a team in Ohio. Ohioans love football!!!!!!!!!!

Went to some of those Locomotives games at Sam Boyd. Should’ve got a jersey.
I don't remember this UFL at all
If they had made one more season, I'd have bought Destroyers season tickets. Alas.

sacramento mountain lions
Let’s go DC Defenders

Boston has had an NFL team for a long time
👍🏿👍🏿

My jaw dropped when I heard they lost $82 million dollars in TWO years lmao
That's nothing. The XFL 3.0 burned through 70 million dollars in one year.
I couldn't get into the 2nd UFL. It being an internet league came off very cheap
I think the UFL should move to fall the NFL should buy it introduce Promotion relegation after a 3 to five year build up...

Ooooooooo kinda like soccer
You de-value NFL teams value through a regulated system
Playing in the fall was one of the downfalls why the UFL failed
@@keithschmidt5700 no it was a lack of organization and enough money corporate support
