      Absolutely man! I don't know if it'll ever happen on my part but this guy is probably one of the best teachers I've seen in a long time! I'm trying to learn to rap but so much of what he talks about is very generically useful in music too! Cole rocks!

    I've been rapping since I was 12 years old but started taking my lyrics seriously in 2014 and I was born 5/22/1999 I think I am very talented with my lyrics

    I've been watching your videos for quite some time. I'm 16 years old, and I have a few passion for rap. I believe I have a knack for the lyric portion of rap, yet had always struggled with rhythm since I was very young. I had seen very many of your videos before I watched this and struggled so much with understanding how to come up with cadence and how it is structured. You visualizing the pauses and what not on the 16 count made something click and now I understand the correspondence between the 4, 8, and 16 count and cadence. You have single handedly solved years worth of frustration in 14 and a half minutes. Thank you so much for the amazing videos, and one day when I reach my goals as an artist I will surely let the world know that I would not be there without your help

      Man you have no idea how much joy I get from reading comments like yours! The reason I teach rap is to help prevent people from taking as long as I did to get skilled in this craft. I'm glad I've been able to help eliminate a lot of the guessing work for you. That's what it's all about right there bro! Thanks for taking a moment to shoot some positive vibes this way! I'm wishing you the best on your musical journey and I'll see you at the top! Much love and respect! :) - Cole Mize

    I cant believe ive not heared about this dude, ive been rapping and recording songs, i never felt i was 100% or happy with the flow or if i delievered to its potential, today i learnt something which is so vital its added the cutting edge, i knew a few things and i recently started scatting, recording myself, then writing for it , big shout to miles cos his taught me something ive been trying to master, which is cadence,delivery,added with swag n character... the 4 count trick? Jeez now i can switch my flow anytime on a beat. Your legend bro. Keep on grinding. Look forward to more uploads.

    I have been rapping for few months almost a year and I have been getting better thanks to your videos. I rap for family gatherings, school talent shows, etc but now I think I'm ready to start getting my music out on TH-cam, sound cloud, etc but I don't have the money to get quality equipment like a good quality mic and good speakers. I don't know if I should use the money i do have saved up for a bad quality mic and terrible speakers. What are your tips for rappers like my self who are trying to get there music out there but don't have the money for good quality equipment.

      good question Jasmine. I actually wrote an article on how to get your first setup for right around $300. If you're just needing to record you don't even have to purchase speakers you just need headphones so you can hear the music while recording. Here's my article if you would like to check it out. colemizestudios.com/home-studio-setup-for-under-300/ I hope this is helpful. Awesome videos! I've mostly freestyled cause I didn't know anything about the beats to be able to write lyrics to them. And make it sound as good as my freestyling. With your videos I've made a lot of progress. I naturally wanna spit fast flows but could never write lyrics that worked for me like I could freestyling. Still having trouble counting bars on some of the newer high tempo beats. Any tips?

    Cole thanks buddy you are the best teacher on the net. I'm getting better daily prob because I'm flowing e everywhere lol. Question it's easier to keep flow with out beat. Once I put beat on it gets harder for me. Any suggestions to help?

    • @ColeMizeStudios
      @ColeMizeStudios  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks I really do appreciate your kind words! Your issue is likely due to the tempo of the beat your rapping on being drastically different to the tempo your using "internally" without a beat. Or you could be off beat without an instrumental and it's not noticeable until you try and do it so the instrumental. That's my best guess :) - Cole Mize

    So do you recommend that we switch the amount of syllables every few bars so that there is a bigger variety of cadences. So say for 2 bars you have 16 syllables and one cadence. Then you switch to 12 syllables for 2 bars with a slower cadence. And also, do you recommend we write the lyrics then make the cadence or vice versa? I know that was a lot...
    But thanks!

    • @ColeMizeStudios
      @ColeMizeStudios  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Isaiah Ruffin Yes I recommend you switch things up as often as possible but always do what you feel is best for the track. Remember in rapping there's no rules only techniques. I recommend you come up with cadences before writing. This will give you a good idea of the beat fits your style or not. And also before you write a song I recommend approaching a song using the storyboard and brainstorming method I demonstrate in this article colemizestudios.com/how-to-write-a-rap-song/

      I would say it depends on the emotions or the concept you’re looking to go for on the song.
      so for example if you’re writing a song about haters you will probably want to use a sad type beat etc.
      Or if you want to rap about how you graduated you’d use a more upbeat beat for your song. Does that make sense to you?

    Hey man.What about trap beats?they're different and harder to catch.Can you do a tutorial about these too?

    • @ColeMizeStudios
      @ColeMizeStudios  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Ted Bundy Sure, there's different styles of trap beats. Feel free to share a link with a trap beat you find hard to catch and I may make a video covering it in the future. In the meantime if you want my 1 on 1 help check out my coaching service I offer at colemizestudios.com/coaching Thanks for watching and commenting! :) - Cole Mize

    • @ColeMizeStudios
      @ColeMizeStudios  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Ted Bundy Thanks! It's much easier than it may seem. The same concept applies to these types of trap as I teach in my videos. What may be throwing you off is the amount of kicks and snares but remember establish your 4 count "the beats in the bar" and build your cadence around it. I may do a video on these types of beats in the future but if you need my 1 on 1 help in the mean time you know what to do. Thanks for sharing the beat with me and if you have any questions let me know :) - Cole Mize

    Hey Cole this may be an inappropriate question but have you ever smoked weed before going on the mic and do you recommend against it or for it, if you have?

    • @ColeMizeStudios
      @ColeMizeStudios  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Rexiile I don't personally smoke weed but I have in the past and I can't say that it helped out in anyway. I'm highly creative and fully functional without it but to teach it's own. Just do what works best for you. Thanks for your question and for watching and commenting :) - Cole Mize

    your are really good in rap but i also watch other videos but how do u speed the wrords and come back to another variation
    i know it's candence but i'm talking about ur flow(variation in words) as u teach i mean how i could develop that variation with good clarity of words

    • @ColeMizeStudios
      @ColeMizeStudios  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +yankee ee The answer lies in this very video but It may be more clear to you once I make my next video on lyrics. It's all about your selection of syllables and how you sustain them and shorten them according to the cadence you're going after. Just hang tight and I hope to clear this up for you in my next video as I bridge cadence and lyrics together. Thanks for watching and commenting :) - Cole Mize

    Learning your. Fav rappers flow n using it . is that considered stealing or learning? Since u learn flows by listening to rappers , i dont think thats stealing but it is learning how to ride the beat in different ways is that right? I would consider it stealing if u are using the exact lyrics right?

    I don't understand a syllable count in rapping

    • @ColeMizeStudios
      @ColeMizeStudios  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Syllable count is simply counting the amount of syllables that you have in 1 bar aka 1 measure. If you don't know what measure/bars are watch this video on music notes buff.ly/294Bn0Y and remember that your syllables are actually music notes. I hope this helps! :) - Cole Mize
