- Arale is returning to Dragon Ball Super and many have asked - Who is Arale!? Well on this video, I do my best to explain to you or remind you the origin of Arale and her story and her relation to Goku in Dragon Ball. In the future, I will cover more of the Slump story in more detail.

Arale is one of my favorite animated characters. She's just such a fun character. I'm happy she's going to be Super. I've missed her wackiness.

I cosplayed as Arale at several cons to much success. (Being that people would ask to take my pictures and I finally found a popular anime character that HAS to wear glasses like I do. She also has blue eyes so no contacts needed!) Everyone knew Arale from Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z and we’re super excited to see me as Arale from DBZ. But some super special people (much to my joy) would know me as Arale from Dr. Slump and we’d totally geek out about Dr. Slump.

Manga number 17 arrived in canada early september. Can'T wait for number 18! I started back in 1995 when the volume 18 of Dragon Ball mangas was releaed in Canada. Have been a fan ever since.

For some of the older DBZ fans who started following dragonball in the early/mid-90's and would read the mangas, Arale is familiar enough because short stories and random pinups of Dr.Slump would be included in the mangas, and in various marketing/licensed materials like fanzines, toys, posters, etc.
yup. I was one of those who firtsly enjoyed Dr. Slump, late 1980's 🥰 ... and the the whole DB 😎& DBZ 😋. in the really early 1990's all throughout untill past 2000.
TV3 (a Catalan TV Channel aired both of them). FOR SEVERAL TIMES. we also have the 1990's "new version of" Dr. Slump too.
Great times I have enjoying Anime since my childhood.

I never really understood why people try to say that Goku's early feats in Dragon Ball like being able to go to the moon and presumably being able to breathe in space during that time is like oh it's just a joke you shouldn't take it too seriously but then when people look at one punch man and arile[sorry if I spelled it wrong] and say their Feats are legitimate I never really understood that logic.

In the 80s, I was a toddler and preschooler. Arale was one of my earliest animes. I always knew it predated dB and dbz. Super old memories!
She was SUPER OP in Tenkaichi. We used to have to say NO ARALE when doing serious matches.

I really enjoy Dr. Slump and all of the Dragon Ball series for different reasons. Dr. Slump is a fantasy based, gag series with no rules. The cool thing to me is that in her universe, Arale is absolutely as strong as Toriyama wants her to be. There are no limitations on her powers given the logic of her universe (or lack there of ;-) ) . I love comedy too and Toriyama is a true master of comedy. All of the Dragon Ball series are awesome for some of the same reasons. The characters continuously find new ways to increase their powers and access new transformations in various forms. There are always new heights to be reached. And in Super we're being introduced to new universes, new gods, and even new planets and life forms, albeit the ones that Gowasu and Zamasu observed briefly and others like them are probably still like insects compared to Saiyans lol.

Fun fact: There's a real name called "Arali", and it's also a flower name (common name: Oleander, Arali is the Indian name for that flower) with a similar color to Arale's outfit

When my Dad was about 14 he collected manga alot, and was a huge Akira Toriyama fan. I read the whole Dragon Ball series, and I really liked it! So I asked my Dad if he had anything else by Toriyama, so he showed me Dr Slump! I've almost finished reading the Dr Slump manga, and I'll be doing One Piece!

I really wish they brought Arale to the Universe tournament instead of Monaka. It would have been a pretty cool crossover and she would have fit the Super comedy perfect.
Arale is a character from Toryama’s original success manga called “Dr Slump”
She’s an android DR Slump made and she’s incredibly powerful.
The series never got licensing to come officially to the US so most don’t know of her or this series.
But she has made a few appearances in DB in the past. Even once fighting Goku when he was in his “Great Ape” form and mollywhopping him BAD.
Because that series is considered a “comedy” the power scaling can’t really be compared but it’s sufficient to say she could absolutely destroy pretty much anyone in the DB universe based on her feats from her original universe.

i learned about arale from the norwegian dragon ball manga release. the book that houses the chapters where she appears had some pages dedicated to briefly explain her origins as a girl from one of toriyama's earlier mangas.. didn't know she was an android though.. that was able to have kids... and that she was actually that powerful. android 18's precursor? heh.

I just finished watching the Dr. Slump/ Dragon Ball Super crossover episode and it was AMAZING!! Funny as all get out. Arale is a strange character, not much unlike Steven Universe in a way. Young or youthful in appearance, very powerful in hers or any other universe, and just seemingly full of joy and enthusiasm. I had never heard of this character before now but now I'm interested in getting to know more about her and the Dr. Slump anime and manga series. Wow just wow.

I was reading both Dragon Ball and Doctor Slump at the same time, taking out volumes from my public library. I actually finished Dr Slump first since Dragon Ball volumes were only up to the Buu Saga at the time. Of course I had already watched the anime though.

I binge watch DB recently and when I first saw those episodes for the first time I bewildered at everything and I figured this was a different series crossing over becuase of how unique everything was. Way too weird even for Dragon Ball standards. I read the first volume recently too and it holds up ^^. Just shows you how talented Toriyama Is

That is incorrect. Vegeta was and still is only capable of exploding a planet with almost no effort, because he projected a blast of energy of ki into the core of said planet -- which caused a chain reaction -- and caused the planet to be destroyed in an explosion. With Arale, she is able to divide the complete Planet Earth with a single punch.

The comparison of Arale ad Oozaru Goku is a bit unfair though. In that episode Obotchaman who is on par with Arale fires a mouth blast that does absolutely nothing to Goku. So probably it was because Arale grabbed Goku by the tail depowering him the reason why she could win so easily. Ah almost forgot about it. In the new Arale Chan anime Arale transforms like a Super Saiyan!
