To be fair that was a modern anime reboot of Doraemon that Disney just picked up cuz they needed anime for Disney XD and their Yokai Watch dub basically ripped off Doraemon to begin with (like many other Gag Manga). Theoretically they COULD dub the 1997 version but it still looks a liiiittle crusty like, in a GOOD way imo but modern cartoons use digital ink and paint, '97 still used cel animation.
Fun fact In Italy the Dr Slump series was dubbed, and Arale and Young Goku have the same VA, and in the crossover episodes it's fun to watch the VA talk to herself
I am italian . We have an official dub of both shows. I think that fandub can solve the problem. In Italy we have good fan dubbing team that do a good work . Even better than the official companies.
Funimation seems to have recently licensed Zillion, an OVA from the 80s so it could be possible. Discotek dubbing the series could also be a possibility considering how not so long ago they gave a survey asking if people would like to see their sub-only licenses dubbed. Although I feel Funimation would probably dub Dr.Slump, there would be somewhat of a chance that Discotek could do it.

Well in mexico we got a masterpiece of a dub in Spanish, since 1999 and we got the 18 Mangas with a very accurate translation thanks to panini, we have enjoy this exquisite humor of master toriyama for almost 20 years, we are blessed
I remember watching DrSlump.. or just called Arale in mexico, back in the 90's both DrSlump and dragon ball (the original, not Z) aired back to back.... pretty much "uncensored" those were good times, I find it weird those were not aired on the US... specially DrSlump is just hilarious and so much fun
There are fan English subtitles and I am producing a fan English dub on my channel but don't expect anything produce by a legit team approved by toei anytime soon unless arale gets a lot of popularity for some reason
There was an attempt of an English Dub for Dr. Slump done by Harmony Gold, but it’s more of a test dub. There is also a trailer of the 90s series which is also dubbed in English done by Toei Animation, however that was done to promote the sales of the license for the series. Other than those, there is no way to watch the series in English.

I should point of that Frankenstein references are even in DBZ. The idea of the androids killing Dr. Gero seems an awful lot like Frankenstein, same can be said about Buu killing Babidi.
When I was in college, shortly after Viz first released the manga in English, I found online about ten episodes of the 90s anime that were dubbed into German. I took three years of German in high school, and combined with my familiarity with the manga, I was _mostly_ able to follow along decently well.
This kind wacky sense of humor might be very appreciated nowadays, if other tv shows like Sponge Bob are success I can't see why Doctor Slump not, basically are almost the same, I mean a very inocent main character who has adventures along with a group of excentric characters
I didn't even know who these characters were when I first watch the entire Dragon Ball series. I just thought it was another village in the Dragon ball world, I didn't know it was a cross over from another series by mister Akira. I didn't even know Arale was an android. I thought she was just an ordinary girl with super strength like Goku.
While I would love to see both the original Dr. slump anime and the 97 anime dubbed, I don’t think it’s entirely possible. It’s not so much on lack of interest or the content, it’s just one of the most difficult things with Dr. slump is translating Japanese jokes into something for American audiences that makes sense. I have read the entirety of the viz version and I know for sure that those jokes are not what’s in the original Japanese comic. Also, some of the content being censored was a bummer.
Wouldn't the presence of Suppaman be a head ache? Sure he's a parody of Superman and most likely fair use in the US I still would think the threat of a lawsuit from WB/DC Entertainment might put off anyone from doing a sub only version of the series propper outside of some of the movies. I could be wrong since I'm unfamiliar with the movies discotek have released subbed and if any of them even have a cameo by Suppaman.
Big dragon ball fan and Dr slump is another one I like. And also the Dragon Ball super manga are much different than the Dragon Ball Super Series dubbed. I noticed you really don't see Vegeta in the trunks Saga in Dragon Ball super in the manga. That's one thing I did like about the series that was different than the manga.
Even if harmony gold dubbed dr slump and arale it would still be censored a lot and some jokes would fall flat and there are episodes /manga chapters that are dedicated to sembei’s perversion and usually have a perverted joke like “the great strawberry panties caper” where senbei wants to see Midori panties or the arale eye caper” where senbei puts a camera in arale to see Midori yamabuki naked and in vol 11 “ tht lensman” where senbei and mr tsun look a girls naked through a see through glasses there’s and some of the toilet humor smoking scenes would be censored as well however If they aired the episode uncensored it would’ve got more episodes I personally feel like censorship can screw up a series like dr slump most jokes are either perverted and toilet humor plus Japanese references if 4kids can say rice balls are donuts via Pokémon no telling what damages they could do to dr slump
I’m cool with it. I have the episodes. It would be nice to see Linda young if they do decide to do this (revisiting after the loss of toriyama). I would be cool to see it gain that popularity in the us. It’s just that good

Toriyama is at his most authentic when doing 'Dr.Slump' but as with Hamill who to his questionable chagrin went to a intractable 'point of no return' after the fame of 'Star wars' and him being Luke Skywalker (almost(?)) typecast him, Toriyama can't be let to 'relax' with a goofy Japanese style take on childhood naiveness w/out going too long or far away from harassment about 'Dragonball' given it's media merchandise tie-in juggernaut status in spite of some majorly lackluster narratology et al. which hasn't really developed past what a series like that would have been doing in the 80's in contrast to say 'Full metal alchemist'. -_- Coming from a guy who has always been the character designer for the 'Dragon *quest*' games since they started.
Maybe Dr. Slump really needs to be dubbed, considering you pronounced Akane (Ah-Nah-Nay) and Peasuke (Pee-Skay) incorrectly. Not a huge deal, just a personal thing when names are said wrong. A general rule of thumb for Japanese names ending in -suke is that they're usually pronounced like "skay" rather than "sookee". Just something to remember. Like in Sasuke Uchida from Naruto, Daisuke Jigen from Lupin The Third, and yes, Peasuke Soramame from Dr. Slump.

We have Dr. Slump in Catalan, both anime series and the manga. And Catalan language has less than 10 million speakers. So it shouldn't be that hard to make it in English.
An English dub of Dr Slump would be awful. They'd probably change all of the dialogue in an unnecessary attempt to Americanize the series, to the point that it becomes a parody onto itself - as they do with many anime in the comedy genre.
With this video, I realized many classic anime that here in Italy have been dubbed, and have been aired since the 80's and the 90's, have rarely seen english release... And that's kinda sad. Fist of the north star, captain tsubasa, saint seiya, lupin the third, basically everi 70's anime with a mecha, here they are all cult, but from what I know, in america there are Dragon Ball and only a few other animes... That's really unfair

This is because the United States and the United Kingdom have their own animation industry. So they support their companies and IPs instead of dubbing foreign cartoons/anime that can be competition for their own. Italy didn't have a major animation industry, so they chose to import and dub the best animation from Japan.
