I was bullied in school and battled with depression. I discovered Dragonball Z at a young age. It inspired me to work out and change my diet. I gained 35 lbs of muscle. I also earned my black belt in shito-ryu karate do. Thank you Mr. Toriyama for inspiring me with your work and helping me through some hard times.

Thats incredible 👍💯Same here, I'd go to school get bullied 6 hours 5 days a week kept it a secret for the 5 years I was there but there was always Dragon Ball Z waiting for me and I'd
temporarily forget what happened and I owe it to Akira Toriyama for making my life that much easier

@@enigma7784 It’s amazing the impact these shows and movies have on us. There’s a lot of people out there that don’t get it, but they don’t have to. You can either let it all put you down and consume you, or you can use it as fuel to be something better. Sorry to hear that though. I hope you’re doing better now.

I can’t imaging how mortified he must have been, the most special day of his and his wife’s new lives together, and a bunch of news agencies with cameras crash their wedding. I don’t blame him for becoming a public hermit.

I started with Dragon Ball Z when there was just the Sayan Saga playing at 7:00 AM on Sunday mornings in Philly, ca. 1996. I deeply love that series, as well as the original. I did not embrace later series with the artistic changes, but I respect them. I feel your pain and loss, either way.

That happening seemed so bizarre I went and looked up what happened. The press were apparently permitted, but only for five minutes. I can imagine he gave them an inch but they took a mile instead.

Geekdom and Oppai Senpai make the best dragon ball news content.
I seriously cannot stand TH-camrs with personality disorders like that overly critical anime guy. His narcissistic personality disorder is so draining to listen to. I'm so glad he got his karma. No one likes him and everyone stays loyal to the TH-camrs who spend their time making great content.

Now that we are as hindsight-aware of Toriyama's mortality as he had been for the last several years we should all feel so grateful that he gave Dragonball one final push to providence that will stick around for years to come. If it had simply ended with GT the franchise may have gradually fallen into historical anime obscurity as time moved on, but now it is a story that truly impossible the world to forget. Thank you Toriyama-sama, and may you rest in peace. 🐉🟡⭐️

I'm 41 years old and I've been watching Dragon Ball / Dragon Ball Z for many years, starting with the Harmony Gold dub and was addicted. I can't believe it's been almost a month yet. It feels like yesterday... The day I heard the news. I'm reading Manga Theater and watching the original series again since last month. I love his style. The 42 volumes of the Dragon Ball manga might be my favorite thing that I own.
Toriyama helped me so much over the years. I just finished college and I'm facing some hard times. But every time I think things are way too difficult I think of this man and how he made it. Legend.

Perfect timing, something to enjoy while I’m at work, I’ve always loved the origin story of Toriyama because with everything in regards to his career/mangas, he just winged it, never planned too far ahead and never put too much thought into it all, just went with what came to mind and created magic. Toriyama was the perfect example of not letting the stresses of life and being adult take away from the creative mindset that we all have as children

Back in 1999-2000 Romania, I was spending summer vacantion at my grandparens in the countryside, i was 8 years old. We used to have just two chanels at the tv, tvr1 and tvr 2. Can't remember well, but around 12 or 14 a clook around noon, they will broadcast one episode of dragon ball, it was the greatest thing to my as a child back then (we were not as spoiled like nowdays, so it was very special to see something good at tv). Thank you mister Akira Toryama for making my childhood soo beautiful, hope your soul have all the blessing it deserves.

I am more of a JoJo fan, but like every kid in the 2000s I knew his magnum opus from a very early age (Also helps that both Dragon Ball and JoJo are from the same magazine and the same decade (1980s Weekly Shonen Jump) and that both are highly influential ever since their respective first days).
Toriyama would have turned 69 had he lived the entirity of March, so let the master fly high in the Heavens.

Man, great job on this video; you really did his story justice and I got to learn some new things. I'll be 37 this year, and for 29 of those years Chrono Trigger has been my all time favorite video game and one of my favorite pieces of media in general. I'm working through my way thru the DS version for the first time and I've just been taking my time to really soak in all the designs and animated cut-scenes (and the music, of course). Once I'm done with that, I've got a couple Dragon Quest games loaded on my 3DS so I can keep honoring Toriyama-sensei all year, and for years to come. We're so lucky that he left us so much amazing work that even hardcore fans still have new things to read, watch, and play. Rest easy, Toriyama-sensei, you've earned it

I fell in love with Dragon Ball when it was on Telemundo even though I had know idea what they were saying. And when Toonami started showing DBZ I was hooked and addicted. My dad and I, God rest his soul, would watch DBZ whenever Toonami had a new episode. And we would talk about it all the time. Toriyama was one of my inspirations to start writing stories. And I'm on my way to fulfill my dream in creating my own comic. And I'm about to be 40 also this year. Akira was a great man standing next to Jack Kirby in my heart. RIP 🐦Akira Toriyama🐉

Amazing video! If anyone here knows about numerology you can see his b day 4/5/1955 equals an 11 and 11,22,33 are master numbers. 11’s are very influential and artistic and although not all are like this Akira knew who he was and wanted in life at a young age. He is so incredibly special. Ppl born on the 5th/14th/23rd are also gifted in entertainment and entertaining others whether you’re an actor, writer, or comedian. Akira was an entertainer thru his writing and drawing and story telling. He left this world an incredible blessing. His impact and legacy will live on for centuries. The Japanese Shakespeare lol.

Dragon Ball was serialized in shōnen manga the same year and month as I was born.
It's basically my childhood, also the sole reason why I began to watch anime back in the days.
    RIP Akira Toriyama 🌹

those clips of Tonami brought back more nostalgic childhood memories, I appreciated that. instead of being in bed for school I would be up late at night watching dragon ball which had the best humor, I even named the family dog at that time chi-chi. when super came out & the god forms were introduced mainly the blue form that inspired me to practice tranquility helping with my own personal anger issues & I was super grateful he brought back cell in the form of max.

Neat to hear the bit about Tezuka considering Toriyama his heir, I hadn't actually considered that their careers would have overlapped at all.

Poetic that this was posted in time for what would have been his 69th birthday, it also puts into perspective how young he and untimely his passing was. Thank you Geekdom, been a viewer for a long time and your dedication is inspiring.
