- I have always wanted to try to make the pretty cups and mugs I have seen on Pinterest using alcohol ink. So I decided to try it out on some ceramic mugs as gifts for friends for the holidays.

Thank you Laura :) She did love them and said she would wash carefully LOL
Great FUN! I totally agree with your thoughts about making and receiving homemade gifts. You create so many interesting and awesome things. These mugs are so colorful and a nice shape and size for one’s healthy, morning smoothie. 💕
Thank you Daisy 😊
Those are beautiful Shel. Your friend is going to love them. I love the shape of them and that they'll hold a lot of coffee. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful cups, I love the blue/green one especially. I have some plain ceramic plant pots that I think could use some color and make great gifts. Thanks Shel.

Thank you Laura 😊
Very pretty!!! I’d welcome those mugs into my cabinets! I think there’s lots of potential in this technique.
Thank you 😊 I think there is potential too. Just hoping they are durable enough.
I think they're way cool. I especially like the circle designs left on your deli paper lol.
Thank you Marti 😊 yes, those will show up in a collage someday
Interesting technique. I think I like the blue green one the most.
Thank you Jackie 😊 I think that one is the favorite.
Is the mod podge dishwasher safe also food safe??
Great job thanks for sharing
Thank you Sherry 😊
I like these a lot! I gave my students an opportunity to try alcohol ink on glass and plastic ornaments. It made me wonder about the mugs. We used sponge brushes to put the ink on and sprayed alcohol from a spritz bottle. We got the vivid colors faster. Might be a good way to try it next time. Thanks for sharing!!!
Thank you Bridgett 😊 that sounds like a good method of application.
Oh nice!
Thanks so much Stephanie :)
What a lovely , unique idea for a personal gift ! It will be very interesting to find out how durable the Mod Podge is , as it is very expensive here in Australia . Thank you Shel . Great video . Kind regards - Judi
Thank you Judi 😊 yes I am curious about multiple washings and durability.
Can u use gold as well love this going to try fab
Yes you can 😊 even a gold leafing pen to add little gold line details would be fun!
First time I've been a first viewer! Love your art and your personality...Toodles...deb
Thank you Deb 😊 I guess you jumped right in!
What do u seal these with so not tacky when coffee addded?
I used mod podge dishwasher safe sealer. This stuff amzn.to/35wBT5q. Only on the outside of the cup.
😍
Thanks for watching Michelle 😊
Do you coat them after they are done
Yes, I used modpodge dishwasher safe on them.
Can you use alcohol inks on a gelli plate?
Yes, you can make layers of color with them and when they dry... lift off with a thin layer of acrylic.
Those mugs are beautiful Shel, suggestion maybe you could put them in a cold oven, then set at 250*F and turn oven on for 30 min and let cool off in oven and it will bake maybe. Just saying lol. Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you Anne :) That is a good idea to get them totally dry..then maybe the ink won't smear when I add the sealer coat.
@@ShelCPaperOcotilloStudio have you tried the baking method and second question did the cup last your friend? Totally inspired and thinking of trying to make a mug.
Got cups mod pog today try out at craft tomorrow
Have fun Louise 😊
kilz 2 is a primer
Yes, I hear it is great for preparing canvas and wood as a substrate for alcohol ink painting. I plan to get more into this as the new year progresses :)
Wipeoffable. New word added to the dictionary for 2020. Lol
Totally a word! Lol
Ok, i have got to buy alcohol inks. Your fault. You cost me money 😁😁😁😁
Oh nooo. I am a bad influence! Thanks for watching Marike 😊
What a mess!
It sure can be!
