I created a java server version 1.6.1 windows and my bf has the same version 1.6., he uses a MAC laptop and he can't connect to my server. It times out. I opened ports:port forwarded on my router for Minecraft and opened firewall on my laptop but it does not work what could it be.

If I'm not wrong the server will be online until the host turns it off or turns off his computer so if you want it to be 24/7 you'll need to have your computer turned on 24/7
