I Looked into this as an option I really wanted- but they are not road legal unless you have a 5 point harness. The boss typically says “for racing” or “off road use only” or something to that effect. Doesn’t stop you from putting one in; but you should’t pass your MOT if you have it.
@@oterwill What has your seatbelt got to do with what steering wheel you have fitted? It used to state in the Constructions And Use Regulations that seat belts must be able to be applied using one hand. That's why several years ago the MOT man failed the 3 points in mine. So after some investigations i printed off the relevent page from the library and went back and thrusting the regs into his hand sat in my 90 and clicked the tabs into place using one hand and then demanded he give me a pass, which he begrudgingly did!
Without giving too much away, did you mount a rocker panel for the inhibit loom switch? Just received mine, and I am trying to figure out the wiring of this, and wondering if I drill a hole to put the switch somewhere, or get a panel.....the instructions don't address the switch install at all.
I drilled a hole and positioned the switch inside a hidden location within the internals of the cabin. I think the instructions leave that out so you can decide yourself where to put it
@@ABusAndBeyond thanks mate. How about the earth load and supply on the switch? How did you know which was which? The wire connection isn’t labeled the best. Or was it trial and error?
Yeah I think it was trial and error. To be honest I can’t really remember. I remember it wasn’t simple however I don’t know much about car electrics so if I managed to get it to work anyone will be able to. 😂
I don't think much of that metal plate you added under the plastic wing plate. With those cut slots it almost looks like there should be little stickers on it telling you to 'bend tabs up'. I'd rather use a two pole switch and put the fuel shutoff cable and the feed to the starter solenoid through the switch. That way switch off the supply to both the starter motor and the fuel pump at the same time. My 90 is too old to have a bonnet cable. Or wind up windows... Have you taken it for an MOT since the new LED conversion regulations came out in March?
I did one linked to the ashtray in the rear on my old golf ,when I sold it the VW garage spent ages trying to get it to start. In the end the called me saying there was an electrical fault with the ignition circuit 😂 so much for the so called technicians
Thank you very much. The grille is this one… www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Land-Rover-Defender-Main-Front-Radiator-Grille-for-Both-Air-Con-Non-Air-Con-/123515854343?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286
Just a quick one, years ago a guy showed me how quick he could steal my 90 at a meat, firstly he removed the bolts from the door hinges then got in ..... the bonnet was not much safer. I got a security kit to stop that. My best mod was getting it chipped and limiter removed oh and the egr Disabled all by computer, and 20mm spacers all around. 🇮🇪❤️
In the UK theft also isn't much of a problem, the issue with defenders is a) they are valuable and going up in value, b) they can be stripped to parts and sold v. easily c) you can steal one with factory security with a spoon!
Hej! Wath is the meaning of that hole in the car???! As it looks, just a plastic cover over the hole!? Could you please tell an Volvostation vagoon, driver with a back for big dog and grosery bags etc. etc. I mean.....-no it could not or....?! Is it cosmetic? On a British Leyland Jeep?! Do they use sutsh tricks just for placing a fake air in take! Nice video! Barbro Sweden
I think it may be something to do with when the build the car for the left hand drive market. Or maybe it could be to with making the car look symmetrical because the vent on the other side would usually look very similar but I changed it to a snow cowl.
What security devices do you recommend I’ve just brought a defender and not sure what security is best
A removable steering wheel is probably the best visual deterrent
:)

The problem with older Defenders is they don't have an electric fuel pump. Not such a bad thing, so best use the ignition wire instead.
Nice video. None of the links work, have LDR Security gone out of business?

Very nice landy there.
Cracking vlog buddy

I would put a S5 DID Smartrack SVRS on it and a Ghost immobiliser
Goood job man, nice video if I may ask where did you get the front grill and the Land Rover black heritage badge? Cher’s

The badge was from eBay too but I can’t find the one I bought anymore. Just keep an eye out for enamel badges on eBay

Good job. I just ordered 200£ of items from LRD Security using your Discount code.
Thanks !
Mario Defender 110 TD5 Cape Town.👍😎🍸
Wow, I guess vehicle thefts must be a big problem in the UK. In the US, it’s nit really a problem for anything other than exotics.

Owning a Landie is like putting your bank details on FB.
Wow it's so cool
What happens if your bonnet cable snaps?
There are ways to get to the bonnet cable so not a major issue. Just can't really discuss the method on here I'm afraid

best land rover security is a big viscous dog so you'll be fine ..... oh hang on , maybe not
Is that a dog which dribbles thick goo?
