This should of been done when you buy the vehicle from the dealer, i was at Rolls Royce in the 1980's and they really did a good job under coating the underside of there cars. rust proofing should be made standard when you buy a Land Rover, just my opinion. any way nice video. Really love Land Rover, one of the best things to come out of Britain ;)

Just away to get my Ford Ranger Done, totally agree For the sake of an extra £600.00 it should be done as standard by companies
+Theknotman1964 at the point of manufacture it will cost them probably under £50. But the car won't last as long if they don't bother. Hence they don't!
Good point, but if they did this then more people would say, that "ROVER WAS DOING A GREAT JOB ON THEIR CARS". Any way looks whats happened England really does not have a car industry any more so they have lost out. if you make good quality products people will always buy them. Just my opinion.
Clinton Beckway England doesnt have a car industry any more? Really? Check some facts not myth. England makes more cars now than it ever has at any time before. We simply make them for other people. We also have almost all the worlds R&D based here for F1 etc.

This video is amazing! Thank you so much for doing this. Gonna apply this go a Gelande Wagen, which might be even more prone to rust than the beloved Defender.
Good video, my old mechanic used to spray my old engine oil on the chassis for me, obviously not as good as this product but the original chassis is still going strong some 30 years after it was made.
Quick research suggests that Dinitrol is mineral oil, so basically Baby oil.

Hi Lads great video, ive just upgraded from a rust bucket 89 Ninety to a 93 defender with a new chassis in 2010 with very little corrosion at the minute...... Ive watched this full video twice no and building up to the task, but a key question is what is the total cost for Dinitrol products? Thanks again lads love the videos keep them coming.

Great job ... will be starting a complete rebuild interior and exterior/mechanical/chasis of a 91 Disco 200 tdi (25 yo)... Once I gut it I think I'm gonna be frightened to find how much rust damage there might be, already know of floor etc but underbody arghhh! ... I am sure grinding and new plates/panels will have to be done, will be taking the body of the vehicle off, etc. This is a fantastic way to vastly extend the life of somebody's vehicle restoration, not just protecting your nice new Land Rover. To do what you've done to this Defender with purchasing every product in this example, how much (approx - disco, bigger chasis, more cans of product) would it cost?? Use an air line as well as steam cleaner to remove dirt and improve drying in the chassis rails and hard to reach places. A flexi air line nozzle is ideal. Also removes the dirt from wire brushing corroded areas.

Came here to see what Denitrol was. Asked a local body shop to do some panel and paint work and also rust treat the undercarrige of my bus. Got it back and Was pretty sure they charged me for the undercarige treatment but still rust spot areas and looked like nothing had been applied. Emailed them with Photos. Still have to take it back anyway because parts of the paint work they did were sub standard. Thanks for this video.

How many cans of each product did you roughly use? Want to rust proof my 2007 Def110 and would like to now. Thanks!!
For Volvo V90 wagon Ive used 3 dinitrol 4971 cans ans 1.5 dinitrol ML cans. For landrover you will need more I think 4 cans if bitumen will be enough
Does this create any difficulties in future when trying to remove bolts or service parts?
I wonder why LR does not offer this already as a standard with the vehicle - or at least as an option. Sure I would pay for that.
I have asked around several places (including the LR dealer where I bought my Def) but none would do it. I guess it is too labour intensive (and a bit messy).
what does the after look like now? It's easy for it to look nice all sprayed black? I did a car with this stuff a few years ago, I saw on the MOT it had some rust after 7 years so it does help but it's not infallible.
Can you please tell me, how many cans of each product I need to rustproof my 110 ? And are there are any other options than steamcleaner ?
Did you discover how many cans of dinitrol you needed. We are planning to do it.
I didn't realise you should use a few different products, I thought it was all the same stuff. Has anyone used "dynax-s50" seems to be just 1 product, but if it does the job?

you northern boys suffer much more from rust than us southerners. My 90 has no rust and its a 1988. Never been treated either. Amazing what a difference salt on the road makes

Ok what’s it like underneath in 2019 ?
Sold it in 2015 so have no clue.
Going in next week for professional Wax oiling, lots of surface rust on chassis but I think it’s sound enough. Will know better when they have it up in the air next week. Must say I’m disappointed considering as well as Dinatrol, in video it has been rust proofed when new by another outfit.
Actually thinking about it, you would almost think that the exterior of the chassis had never been treated. And considering it’s been done twice in its life, it’s pretty poor. At least my man will arrest some of the rust, hopefully it’s not too late.
What about for medium to heavy chassis rust on an older defender?
Replace with a new galvanized chassis
Do any of these products cause issues with suspension bushes etc?
Bushes are cheap ,chassis ain't!.
This should be done on all cars, I might do this on my vw Passat as it’s 4 years old and as I’ve put on my winter wheels I noticed I had surface rust on my rear axle, is this product expensive and would I need to buy everything in the video ???
Quick question, how come you guys covered the exhaust and didn't include it or treat it at all?

This looks a good job but surely the manufacturer should be fit to paint the chassis such that it doesn't need this?
Want to rustproof a Landy? Spray the underside with used dieselmotor oil. It will creep everywhere and stops rust dead in its track.
What about rust already there though? It will need treated no?
@@David-cm4ok If it's not rusted trough, it will saturate the surface rust and stop it in its tracks ;-)
@@ButchE30M3S14 thanks for the reply. Mine is all surface rust underneath, pretty sure it's not rotted through, so your suggestion could be an answer.

@@travisfern I'm afraid not mine mate. I put on too late and my car was written off last mot, due to rust. Get it on early 👍🏻
Do not forget to close all holes on the side and top of the Chassis with rubber plugs . = no mud or salt-water insinde the Chassis.

That is a lot of work just for 2-4 year protection. There is this stuff in the USA that started out as a spray in bed liner for pickup trucks and 4x4ers spray it on the undercarriage and it works great has a lifetime guarantee as well. I have not been able to find a distributor in the UK. The closest is in Germany. Its called "Rhino Lining". Every serious offroader I knew in the US had it done. Amazing stuff and less hassle.

Stone chipping products are not the same as a rustproof protection product like this
+usvet76 I was thinking the same thing as I was watching the video, "why not just Rhino line it" it's a lot easier and last a lot longer. But I would have thought that it would be available in other countries by now.

After applying Dintrol will it stay put when off roading ??, ie , is it Thick enough to Stick like Sh1 t
Tod Lindley Yes it will , though you'll need to re-apply the coating more often if putting it through extreme driving conditions
These guys put a Huge Shame on Land Rover factory workers. Land Rover can't even think about rust issue on its defender. What a shame!
No other 4x4 needs this but these do because they are rust buckets.
I being a cheapskate use old tubs of grease and oil warmed up or thinned with kerosene, makes a great job when applied with a SHUTZ /WAXOIL SPRAY GUN
Every year I just use diesel for protection after washing I get Gud result on my land rover

midland t4 We no longer own this vehicle.
Booked in for Waxoiling next week. Chassis is now very rusty, no holes but lots of surface rust. Too much for me to deal with lying on my back so letting professionals deal with it.

Why the hell didn’t they produce these machines with Galvanised chassis?
Thread tape should be applied opposite to thread otherwise it bunches up.
