    Thanks for purchasing our door cards and posting this video - this is a product we designed ourselves and its great to know we are making products that people are happy with. This product is made in the UK so we are promoting UK manufacturing which is great. Sorry the rivnut tool broke with the impact driver but your solution looks very clever. Simon @ Powerful.

      Another point I would like to share is the packaging used by Powerfuluk is so well thought through, wherever possible it’s been eco friendly and just adds to the positive experience 🤓 Happy Days 😉

    Quick tip to refresh jaded plastic parts, use a heat gun and it refreshes the plastic to like-new. Just be carefull not to actually melt the plastic 🙂 This also works for jaded garden plastic furniture.

    Its really a nice car. You are doing a really good job. And its nice to have an amateur explaining it all. As much as i like the way you are going, I have an 89 200TDI and will try hard to keep it all original, i think because i no longer can do my own work, and lack funds for spares and labour. But i love it dearly

    Make sure you don't throw the old door cards away. Genuine LR ones cost around £200 new so somebody could well give you some money for yours, even though most of the clips are broken, but that problem can be overcome. The same goes for the old fittings and handles you have replaced. The truck is looking nice, next modification ORE wheel carrier?

    • @thedoctorsgarage
      @thedoctorsgarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Did think are they worth something the old ones - may help pay for the next upgrade! Wheel carrier is on the list but I have a few other smaller mods on in the pipeline first 👌🏻👌🏻

    The foam inner you didn’t put back is needed as it helps keep the water from running between your door and the door card

    Looks good but not sure about the exposed bolt heads. I have a 1997 300 Tdi which originally had fairly insipid grey door cards. If you are on a budget and in the same situation, you can very cheaply achieve a more unifying and contemporary appearance by simply by spraying them with Satin Black Plastikote (take them off the door to do it!) I also did the same with my previously grey cubby box. I have black after market seats and the result was a massive improvement in the general feel of the cabin for around £10.

    • @thedoctorsgarage
      @thedoctorsgarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Phil - I quite like the bolt heads- match the rest of the aluminium look on the inside but yes that plastic spray is good to be fair - easily brightens dull plastics

    Really like the new door cards. Without being too pedantic I see the top of the door card has a slight wave to it. Could it just be that the different lock nuts not being exactly the same distance between the door and door card and hence applying a different pressure?

    • @thedoctorsgarage
      @thedoctorsgarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s a good spot! I have seen that myself and need to work out why. I think it’s due to the top fixings being a little too tight

    I changed all the original rivnuts and fittings for Hex Stainless rivnuts and black anodised flange torx head stainless bolts, guarantees no corrosion ever…although I made aluminium door cards to replicate NATO map door cards, but modified the drivers side to hold my steering wheel in a lockable holder, much more robust and suits my Wolf !

  • @rossgillanders9911

    How did you get on with removing the window winders. I am finding it really difficult to get off mine?

    • @thedoctorsgarage
      @thedoctorsgarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a small hairpin clip holding the winder on. If you push the door card away from it and look down you will see it over the winder rod. You can pop it off with a really small screw driver and then the winder falls off 👌🏻hope that makes sense!

    • @philsorah990
      @philsorah990 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Another trick is to take a narrow length of rag and slide / pull it behind the winder at the end where the open end of the clip is. Grab either end of the rag and simply pull it up and down against the open end of the clip - it will push the clip off the winder spindle.

    You should really think about putting the plastic membrane back on your door.
    It's there to stop rain running down the window, past the seal and then onto the inner surface of the door-card and then into the vehicle's interior.
    Basically, it ensures all the rain that gets into the door STAYS in the door, where it can, hopefully, escape through the drain holes in the bottom.
