We enjoyied this really much!!! (I think my favorite Part was your both thoughts about First rehearsal as to get to know each other) But I saw your story and have to say pleeeease don't be sad because the views or something from TH-cam! You really do such a beautiful Job😊 you inspire and help so much people, don't be insecure because of less Views. It could have so many reasons, the views doesn't define the worth of it. Just do what you love. Your videos are so amazing, I loved your last vlogs ans it's very sad if you are sad about such great thinks. You are amazing! Thank you for all you do💕😊🎶
(And of course i will watch your Concert, it's great that you can Help other musicians and I hope it will Work Well and bring a lot of money to Help👍)

Loved the whole vlog. It's funny when Jan introduces himself... Then you both laugh, 😂 then I also laugh. 🤣😂
On a serious note, I'm always on board for any blog, Tiffany. Please, please don't be sad about the "low views" thing? You're always spreading positive energy. That, is always appreciated. 🤗❤️

To me it was the statement - when you know the piece so well you can forget about yourself and focus on listening to the other. I think, it is true, that music is at its best, when it is almost subconscious yet responsive. I especially enjoyed the 3rd movement with the charming "concussionate" head dancing on display from both of you.

I think what Jan said about listening instead of thinking about music was really interesting, I guess when you feel each other in terms of musical expression you can come a lot further and also faster than constantly discussing things.

Yes, at 11:30 he said listening because discussing can only go so far (my paraphrase). I'm sure musicians do a lot of thinking too, but listening to their partner(s) surely comes first.

Ahhh - Bach! On my 18th birthday (a few years ago....) I got a small collection of sheet music called the "Joy of Bach". My joy goes to quite a different level, when listening to Bach in the hands of such wonderful musicians. The 23rd stands out in the calendar; the vital elements are in place - their lighthearted humorous approach, Jan's emphasis on listening while embracing his Strad and the Tiffany light yet clearly articulated touch. Life could be worse.

" I think I'll just listen rather than think in numbers " , isn't this the true difference between feeling the music and analysing it ! . The one thing that holds the key to all the different styles of music . Without it there is only relationship , but respect . With it there is a kind of Holy Grail , of eaverything musical .

The sounds of these two instruments make a perfect match. Their tone ranges are far enough apart that there is no conflict. One line of lead is beautifully complemented by the other.

Both of the videos from this rehearsal are great! I only began playing the cello a year ago, and the piano + cello duo is actually one of my favorite configurations to listen to, so I was quite excited to see a cellist on Tiffany's channel. Both relaxing and informative, love to see this type of content

Very interesting idea from Jan in this video. "Nobody can do anything alone", even when you are playing alone the instrument is an important partner -- Jan said he has have great respect for his cello as it is much older and "culturally important", and made by a great maker. This is truly inspiring. I am not a professional musician but I am fortunate to own a very old instrument, yet I was not taking it very seriously and can't really play well. Now I feel I am not respecting my instrument enough and not being grateful enough... Thank you.

Fun stuff!! One cool aspect about collabing is listening to one another, and adjusting on-the-fly. For a first rehearsal, you two seem to click really well. I think you could probably work on exuding a bit more conversational confidence with Jan, even if you have to fake it a bit. Of course you and he are colleagues, and you bring valid opinions. He brings more experience, but clearly he respects your point of view as well. This is great practice for when you're working with big name musicians all the time, possibly as one yourself. Catch you two next Saturday!!

Working from a transcription and translation to modern instruments, how cognizant of the baroque world and Bach’s musical language are they? There wouldn’t have been any dynamics on the keyboard and the viol da gamba would have been quieter too. It seems like articulation and rubato would have been the main expression. How to navigate that since dynamics can sound tacky anyway? I wonder since pianists often sound like they come from a romantic world. Are they just looking at the score? How do they look at it? Does it speak for itself? How familiar are they with the world of period performance which has come to the fore since WWII. To me, period performance has been the most exciting development in classical music so I wonder how they square what they’re doing with that world.
