You wouldn't say that if you actually were next door neighbour to a professional pianist. First you'll have to endure scales, and Hanon Etudes, and then when the actual practice session starts you'd hear 4 bars over and over and over again. ;)
@@Quotenwagnerianer Absolutely correct. The ONLY time I got banged on the wall by my neighbors was when I was repeating "those 4 bars" for over 30 minutes. Since I don't have a "real" piano now I do that kind of work with headphones.
@@Quotenwagnerianer yes ! Added to that you are hearing it through a wall or two. The sound quality becomes rather terrible through walls - it is noise pollution mostly not 'music'.
Hey Tiffany, this was a really great video. We usually don't get access to this type of behind the scenes where two people work for the first time and it is really interesting to see how ideas are exchanged, compromises made and where you are in agreement. Hope everything is going well with you and you should make more of these! :)
I absolutely loved this video! While it's been stressful for Tiffany to put practice videos together for us, in this one she seemed so carefree and joyful about the music she was playing and having someone else play with her. I absolutely loved the dynamic! Looking forward to Dec. 5th!!!
Her Mozart is magical. There is nothing out there of hers to listen to though. I really hope she makes a recording of some Mozart concertos someday and we can listen to them on Spotify or buy the albums. 🙏
Tiffany. 2 or so years late to this party but really enjoyed hearing the two of you practicing together. Your interpretation of Mozart is bubbly and fun. The dynamics in your apartment there seemed good to me. I really enjoy your Vlogs and the view into the world of a classical musician. I’m no musician have taken intro to piano. Taught myself acoustic guitar years ago and have sung in various church choirs. No. I’m just a lover of music. Classical in particular and other genres in general. Please keep up the good work Tiffany. You’re reaching people and it is not done in vain. Thank you for all that you do. I send my good thoughts, best wishes and, prayers for your success. 🤗☺️❤️👍✝️🙏🏻🎼
It's amazing how adding just a cello voice can give you a feeling of the whole orchestra sound. Really fun video and Eric seems to be such an open-minded and nice person and musician!
I use 2 inch thick book at home, I want to still hear some of the overtones in the upper register.. Some newer grands have the mini-stick, I use it with hobby singers as the half sized one in over 7' grands can still be too much with "shy" singers..
This is the reason why I spend 70% of my practice time on my digital piano during lockout. I find it better to lose some sound quality but to play serenely.
@@akhenatenamarna484 because there is pandemic and the more we can do to prevent the growth/spread of it now.. the sooner it will all be over :) I hate it too but it's worth these sacrifices now so we dont have to put up with them in the long run. I hope you're doing ok and stay safe xx
Great video. So good to see the handwork, the searching. So special to hear only two parts and understand how orchestrated music is this delicate machinery of voices merging to form the complete harmony and music narration. Fascinating to see you meet for the first time, and the mutual pleasure.
Tiffany, you are so refreshing ! Bach & Co would like you also. I think, they would stop listening to their music and .... listen to Tiffany. You have so many more possibilities, to set fire to music.
YES! The only two times I stayed up all night (minus 3 hours sleep) was in the livestreams of #musicneversleepsnyc and #musicneversleepsdmf . An unforgettable experience!
This practice session was so satisfying to watch. Thank you for sharing. He's a good conductor, because he listens to others around him for feedback on the music and how one may interpret it's patterns and tempo. Again, thank you for sharing.
It is a surprisingly small sound, as you say, in this video, maybe because you aren’t used to an accompanying instrument in your space. But it shows how beautiful and controlled your articulation is, really highlights the lines. Thank you!
Thanks Tiffany for putting this together, love this behind the scene vlog so much, can feel that you have had a lot of fun. Reminded me of my old days practicing string ensemble with friends at home.
So excited to watch the concert, albeit virtually! Once again thank you for the great vlog, giving insight on how a professional pianist prepares for a Concerto.
The neat thing about this concert is that it even exists in Mozarts own version for Piano Quintett. So you could just invite 4 friends and play the whole thing without drawbacks.
The concerto of my piano degree after 14 years of studies.. I just love it.. You are wonderful.. Ps. I performed the whole cadenza also.. It was lovely 💖
It's so fun to see (and enjoy listening to) the preparation for your upcoming streaming event. There's something about piano and cello together that I just love and can't get enough of. One of my all time favorites are Les Deux Sonates Pour Piano Op. 38 & 99 (Brahms).
This vlog is very enjoyable. Kudos for your tempo choice, Tiffany, and especially to Eric for getting along with that. His respect towards a young colleague shows that he is a true professional. I look forward to the next vlog... and the concert Dec 5!
I'm really impressed by how beautifully and naturally the two of you sound playing together. Actually, the effect is exquisite and wonderfully musical.
So much fun to be had in music....before all seriousness required and full concentration and pressure....thanks for sharing....nice touch and voicing, by the way....💃🏻⚡️
I soooo dig your dynamic control. Probably the main thing why I watch. May be your penchant for the romantics, but it's terrific nonetheless. Saw Glen Gould do Mozart the other day, and (although uncontested genius that he undoubtedly is) he does it like he plays Bach, mostly even all the way. Must say I like your style better. Keep it up.
Packet full of insights , thanks . Playing things slow or fast , changing the origional score bye one note ; something I've been dying to do to a trill , on the only piece I've learnt of Mozarts , although i won't and of course all the beauty of a Cello with a piano .
Allegretto is correct. It's charming and Eric is right there is more music in it to bring out at that tempo. Also, I'm in Berlin where my oldish neighbors are very sound conscious. There's been lot's of negotiation over my practicing. As much as I don't take it personally it does effect how much I project when I play. Must be tough dealing with this when you're a working pianist.
This was my favourite video, I became a huge fan of this mozart concerto, and motivated me to become a patreon ! (and I wish I was your neighbour, I would love it, although you might have to listen to my practicing lol)
Fantastic!!!! Really glad to see you in your Happy Face😁. I can hear your neighbor downstairs (in a Monty Python fake female voice) saying, "Great! The next thing you know she'll be up their playing with the whole bloomin' New York Philharmonic Orchestra!"😜 As far as me, hope so . . . soon! Reminds me of my friend in the Philly area who had a little get together in her large Main Line living room with a string quartet of the principal string players of the Philadelphia Orchestra providing the music for 50, or so, close friends. As far as you, this video proves that you are a premiere, professional, concert pianist first and TH-camr second.
This makes me more convinced to get a ticket
This makes me more convinced to learn cello and give up on piano😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Eric will give us Big Tiffany. Pedal to the metal Eric. Go go go!
@Julian E. the tickets for the mozart concerto on dec 5th are $15
