Could someone explain the verse about how fath without works is dead? I dont believe we ourselves earn our salvation, but it seems as though there's something expected of us beyond just accepting verbally, and i dont think that distinction is made very clear often enough.
Eph 2:8,9 "For by grace we are saved thru faith, NOT of ourselves, NOT of works, so no one can boast. James 2 speaks of the believer PROVING their faith by right living. If you say you have faith and live like the devil, God is not mocked Gal 6:7, it is evident you do not undertsand or have grace. The "good works" do not save you, merely prove that you experienced the Holy Spirt and His conviction when we sin. Being"born again" is trusting Christ finished work for our salvation, and repenting from sin and selfishness in gratitude for what He has done for us. Catholics sometimes misinterpret being born again as being baptized. An infant has no knowlege of sin/need for salvation, and your parents baptizing you in a faith has nothing to do with YOUR faith. Each must choose Jesus on their own. Besides baptism being a work, obedience, but a work. The thief on the cross was not baptized, but Jesus said he is with Him in heaven. Keep seeking!
Whenever you don’t understand a passage from scripture pray for discernment, pray to the Holy Spirit and always look what is said in more places as the Bible is full of wisdom. Try not to take anything out of context. Matthew 4:4 “But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.”
Faith without works is dead meant that you can’t ask God for a mate and never leave your house. You have to go out to meet someone. God won’t bring the person to your door step. If you ask God for a job, you have to actually apply for one.
Faith without works is dead means that faith is like the body and the love of God poured into the heart of the believer is the soul (life) of faith. An intellectual faith which is void of that love is dead and therefore does not justify. This is why faith formed by the virtue of love(charity) justifies and is alive but faith not formed by love is worthless. The faith formed by charity is actually what voddie Beaucham rejects. This is what he condemns about the catholic church. The catholic church says that we aren't justified by a faith that does not contain the love of God being poured into our hearts. Catholics don't believe in faith plus works. We believe is being saved by a faith that contains the virtue of love not by the works of love.
So my question is, if a dead person cant choose to have faith in God for salvation, then how can a dead person reject God. Rejection is not something dead people can do, but the bible says people go to hell because they reject God.
Paul describes our situation this way 1 And you were dead in the trespasses and sins 2 in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience-- 3 among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. 4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ--by grace you have been saved-- 6 and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. Ephesians 2:1-7 (ESV) POINT: We don’t save ourselves. God does it. Notice we are “already” condemned: Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. John 3:18 (ESV)
Sorry, but Bible (particularly: Epistle of James) says that "faith without deeds/works is dead". And Protestants' favorite quote: "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." - Ephesians 2:8-9 In the very nest verse says: ""For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them." - Ephesians 2:10 Works are still a "part of the equation" and should not be taken out of it.
Salvation causes good works, that’s how I read that. Not the other way around. When you say “Protestants favorite quote” That was scripture, Jesus’ favorite quote
We do good works that God has prepared in advance BECAUSE we are saved. NOT to be saved. Salvation is a free gift from God so if we have to do works to be saved, how is that a free gift? We don't pay somebody when they give us a birthday gift because then it is not a gift anymore. We don't 'pay' God anything for our salvation otherwise grace is no longer grace. We cannot do anything to earn our way to heaven because then that would give us reason to boast. If faith plus works are part of the equation as you believe, then do you think Jesus was lying to the thief on the cross when He told him, "Today you will be with Me in paradise." That thief could do no good works but he is now in heaven with Jesus his Savior.
In addition, how much works? A works Gospel is self justification, which is no Gospel. Who decides who does enough? That's a scary thought. No question, faith without works is dead, but Salvation is a gift. Cannot be earned.
When you repent grâce is not enough you have tout improve yourself otherwise you are a hypocrite because improving is works. Jesus says what you haven't done you haven't done it to me what you have done to the smallest you have done to me. those are works.
"But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way? As always, Catholic-hating protestant pastors misrepresenting and misinterpreting the teachings of the Catholic Church. They have thousands of scholars to draw from, even the Catechism itself, explaining in detail what's our doctrine on Grace and Faith, but they'd rather quote directly from a 500 yo document knowing most of the listeners won't understand a pip. Catholics believe in collaboration of our actions with God's grace, like a boat that has to point its sails to the right direction to be moved by the "grace" of the wind, like a toddler learning to walk, who can only walk with the help of their father, but still has to move their legs. In the end all is God's grace, but Our Lord wouldn't create automatons who have absolutely no sovereignty over their actions, like most Calvinist believe. It'd make it impossible to actually prove our love for Him, because without freedom there can be no proof of love. Our creation would be pointless.
So once we are saved, we don’t need to love or fear God anymore. So we allow Him to suffer even more for our salvation as we feel we can continue to commit every vile grave sin known to man and still go to heaven. In other words, we can continue to crucify Jesus more than would be necessary for our salvation knowing that we are saved no matter what. It is contemptuous of us on our part to escalate our sinning since He will pay the price anyway. This is a vile, demonic doctrine that some Protestants teach. It shows no care or love for the suffering servant(Jesus.) This illogicality is straight out the satan’s mouth.
Not much difference between Calvinism and Catholicism in the end, assurance that your elect can only come from works… no way you can be sure that God has elected you , if we are totally dead how can we know if God has truly made us alive, only by works..there is no assurance of salvation in Calvinism or Catholicism

@@nickswicegood4316 Verse 5 is faith alone...the one who believes and does not work. Don't keep trying to work for your salvation. Hell is truth seen too late, my friend.
It’s a bad idea to add words to scripture my friend. Just because Paul uses the word “works” it’s a non sequitor to assume he means “any and all works” . The context is clear from 3:28 that he is referring to “works of the law”, and specifically, circumscision. So, are we justified by faith alone? James 2:24 clearly no. We are justified by faith and works. Any works? Romans 3:28 clearly no. Not works of the law. Not works of darkness/evil works either. What kinds of works? Works of love. “For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith working through love.” Galatians 5:6 ESV
And if you’re unsure about what “faith working through love” refers to, see Paul again here, using the same statement as Galatians 5:6 “For neither circumcision counts for anything nor uncircumcision, but keeping the commandments of God.” 1 Corinthians 7:19 ESV So “faith working through love” is equal to “keeping the commandments of God” Peace.

1 John reveals how you can know if you’re saved
Catholics believe we are saved by grace
@@PInk77W1Catholics that follow the Catholic system are NOT saved
Council of Trent Session 6 canon 9- check it with James 2:24.
Faith alone is contradicted by the Bible.
Peace.
Romans 4:4-5 contradicts the traditions of man. Peace.
“Now to the one who works, his wages are not counted as a gift but as his due. And to the one who does not work but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness,”
Romans 4:4-5 ESV
Amen! It certainly doesn’t teach faith alone so it contradicts that tradition of man:)
“For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith working through love.”
Galatians 5:6 ESV
And if you’re unsure about what “faith working through love” refers to, see Paul again here, using the same statement as Galatians 5:6
“For neither circumcision counts for anything nor uncircumcision, but keeping the commandments of God.”
1 Corinthians 7:19 ESV
So “faith working through love” is equal to “keeping the commandments of God”
Peace.
Steve Lawson also great although i think he might cling to ridiculous premillennialism
Wait, why is premillenialism "ridiculous"?
He also clings to ridiculous Calvinism and mocks those who truly cling to Christ Jesus.
