Did you turn the pump the wrong way to set the vanes? When you took the pump cover off the vanes pointed in the opposite direction of the way you set the new ones when you turned the drive shaft clockwise to orient the vanes.
Hey Jhon how much you think it cost to rebuild the whole motor part wise I wish you have a video of it running and a walk around I bought mines and someone been messing with it so I don't know where some of the stuff goes I try looking it up didn't see a good video on it and different models
I replaced an impeller and put the lower unit back on on my 2003 2 Stroke 40 HP Mercury outboard. I can get the engine into forward and reverse and into neutral. If I move the propeller by hand clockwise I hear a clicking/clunking noise 4 times per full rotation of the propeller. Is this normal? Most would never know unless you turned the prop by hand. With the motor running you could never hear it.
I just replaced my water pump kit ordered from this description. Seemed to match perfectly. . I have a 40hp tracker Mercury 2002/2003. Put everything back how it came off and re connected shift linkage but now my motor doesn’t find the neutral although throttle is in neutral. Previously anywhere in neutral I could start. Now I have to move the throttle super slow in the neutral gear back and forth in its play room while holding key turned and sometimes it starts and sometimes it’s just dead and never attempts to turn. It doesn’t attempt to crank at all till it finds a spot in the neutral while holding key turned to start. so it never cranks till finds a spot moving throttle back and forth in neutral, then it does sometimes and cranks and starts. Any ideas?
The linkage that you reattach when putting the lower end back together... that linkage from the top of the motor has a long nut that you turn in order to mate it to the linkage on the bottom end... and that long nut needs to be turned until the rod that it rides is further from the end of the nut.. this adjusts the distance of the linkage and allows you to shift. If the long linkage nut was tightened too much on the linkage rod then you will not be able to get gears changed... so adjust the distance of the long nut on the top end rod before reconnecting to the bottom end. This is something you learn the hard way when noone online mentions it.
I have a 2007 df225 Suzuki With water in the engine oil. I flushed it with new oil and filter and still brownish color. I’ve read so far it’s an internal problem. Maybe a head gasket or worse crakes head. One thing I’ve done that was wrong was running the engine while water was on the flush port. Could this have been where I screwed up? Thanks

I noticed that also, They were bent for a counterclockwise rotation when cover was removed and then he clockwised set the new one,
I thought I was losing my mind. I bet a lot of people did this after watching this video.
Great video you make it look so easy

Do I have to take the propeller off of my 40 mercury 4 stroke to change the impeller?
Great tutorial
