Bud it's folks like you that take the time to help others with these projects that save the weekend on the lake for families like ours.... Thanks a ton D-ray
WoW ! I never realized how simple it was to replace a water pump/impeller, and to properly change the lower unit gear lube. Thank you for sharing this information !!
One of the best D.I.Y. videos I have seen. Very clear and easy to learn from. I just completed my first impeller replacement thanks to the help from D-Ray. Thanks for the help.
Super good video D-Ray and very easy to follow, well done. I'm a new boat owner so this stuff is gold to a guy like me and if I can save some money and do it myself I'm all for that! Thanks........
I have this exact motor....thanks a million D-ray for the straight forward yet simplistic how to instructions. I'll have this video playing as my step by step tutorial as I replace my impeller. BTW, your video on trailer wheel bearing replacement "walked" me thru that little job.....
Thanks, you did a great job. The video helped me save a lot of money and taught me how to do it myself. Last year I messed up an engine trying to change a impeller with the help of some friends and messed everything up so I sold my boat. Thanks again.
Wow, after watching your video which was presented in a way that anybody could do it, I changed my pump without any problems. "Great Video" Many Thanks
Thanks D-Ray I am here in the Philippines MALAPASCUA and no technican around to replace the impeller of my MARINER 40. Thanks to your video i could do it myself. Great help. Mike
I have always wanted to know how to do this for myself but was afraid. Thank you so much. I have this exact motor and this was a God send. Great job on filming and the details. You do a great job and service to the public.
Very well done, you gave great tips. Professional.. With the 2 part videos most people who are mechanically inclined should be able to tackle this job with your videos.. Thanks again..
Excellent video good explanations and close ups without allot of unnecessary BS. Good to the point, wish more videos were like this. I have a 92 Force 150 carburetor, 5 cylinder, is also a Mercury lower unit with the Force Power Head? Today the alarm came on with a lot of steam and poor water flow. Water coming out is very, very hot to the touch. Tomorrow I think I will check the impellar. Thank you again for a excellant to the point 2 part video.
D-Ray, Great video, very thorough and great explanations-very well done! I enjoy watching your videos, this one in particular, I have a 90hp Force and need to change out my impeller and oil. You should teach others the how to's on making easy to follow and enjoyable videos. keep up the good work.
Thanks for the video. Now I'm ready to change the impeller on mine. One thing to add - it's easier to finish the lower unit if I tilt all the way up and install the drain plug. keep on!
Very Informative video. Hell, just took my boat to the shop for a new impeller/pump. Looks like I could have saved some money and do it myself on the cheap. You make it look easy. Keep up the good videos!

awesome video for my 40 hp. plan on changing my water pump very soon. As soon as I get my 9.9 1984 Johnson in order. Would love to see a how to video on how to change upper motor mounts, prop shaft, and water pump for this motor. Thanks! Mike
Thanks for the video and for explanation of how to do it in simple English. I have my first mercury force 120 and bought it used, so new water pump and thermostat before it goes in the water. Compression great 140-150 per cylinder new plugs starts and runs good so now on to the lower unit. I see the shift shaft but not the jam nuts, so I will try moving the shifter into forward or reverse and then look for them. Once again Thanx for your help!
Great videos D-Ray . The only thing that confused me slightly was when you reattached the shift linkage. You said something about the lower rod that I couldn't make out. Not a biggie just thought I would mention it. Thanks again
your videos make it a no brainer thank you keep them coming the more I learn the less I have to go to a shop guys like you help us do it ourselves if you go to your local Marine Shop they're not gonna want to tell you how to do it how often do you change out that water pump every other?
Enjoy this video. Great information! Have 92 mercury 50hp need help in placement of the oil and fuel injection lines. Lines were taken off by former owner, and I can not find any thing to show just where these lines correctly went. thanks

Thanks for this video, parts 1&2. Showed some things I was not aware of. What year model was this motor. I have a 96' I think. Mine doesn't have the connecting nuts on the drive shaft.
DRay, what a nice way to explain to us the process...thank you!, I haven't found the linkage yet but I assume it is the trim possition, but I'm sure I will accomplish the task...just one final question here...I started looking for this after I noticed very few water flow and someone told me that in this model it is pretty common to have the tubbing that takes the water out of the system gets clogged pretty easily...how can I clean an flush it just after the new impeller is installed?
I want to thank you for this video I have an engine just like this one so when I replaced my water pump it went well. I also need to replace the head gasket now and was wondering if you have a video for that and if not you might know what torque is required for the bolts.
