the scene where papa caesar slaps jasper's glasses off his face and then it immediately cuts back to jasper with the glasses still on is one of the funniest things i've ever seen in a video game

I played through this whole game on the Wii with my sister when we were teenagers. Good memories.
The "intentionally bad" shtick is really funny when done right. Jasper getting his glasses knocked off and then immediately having them again in the next shot is hysterical. I think Garth Marenghi's Darkplace is the best example of that kind of comedy.
This game is so grindhouse, I half expect Machete to just come out blasting without any explanation.

When this game came out on the Wii, it was the time when all the Grindhouse thing was really popular and really cool (even though it was subsequently done to death and lost popularity very quickly.) I was a huge zombie fan from when I was young but was unemployed at the time and wanted this game badly. I think I ate nothing but bread, jam, sweetcorn and instant noodles for a week so I could afford to buy it. Happy days!

@@khanage1344 I loved it, it was everything I expected and hoped it would be! I still now love the Grindhouse movies that Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino made but I used to watch them a lot back then.
At that time in my life I didn't have much going for me and it's mindless stereotypes, vulgar language and sheer silliness did put a smile on my face. My only complaint was that it was too short and easy to complete. Didn't stop me from replaying it several times for the different weapons and collectibles though.

The extended version of Thotd Overkill has extra levels were you play as Varla and Candi that weren´t on the Wii version, also has other changes like the cutcscenes who are slighty altered. The game had 3D (at least the Ps3 version, i don´t know the steam version because i have the Ps3 ver.) If you had a Tv that supported it (I think that affected a little the game due to not many having that kind of tvs at the time, i guess).
The game also has a "Director´s cut" were you play the same levels but they are longer with new areas and even other stuff like the final boss ,who (originally) there is a moment were the game "cuts" to were G and Isaac get miniguns from nowhere, the "Director´s cut" shows how they get them.
There is more stuff but i think i already said enough for the game, personally, i really like this game. Playing often with my brothers and laughing about the jokes and the sometimes unnecessary excesive swearing.

Loved the intentional jab at grind house when Ceaser knocked of Jasper's glasses and it reappeared back on his face in the very next shot 🤣
I want to see you finish the game. I really like the scene of Caesar slapping Jasper's glasses off and immediately shows Jasper still wearing his glasses. Also, one of the zombie strippers using to the pole to kick the player off the stage. The Strip Club level reminds me of Kyonyuu Dragon.
I love Matt's content in general but there is just something about October that makes things more exciting...Literally didn't watch anything the whole week so I could binge on my day off.

Words cannot express how much fun this game creates. I had it on PS3 and it made me laugh so damn hard every time I fired it up. This was a great game to have around when my Army buddies were over when I was still enlisted. Beered up soldiers and a campy B movie game make for a fun time.
This game during 2009 holds the guiness world record for saying lots and lots of f bombs and swears in a video game until Mafia 2 breaks the record in 2010 and GTA 5 in 2013.
But this one has them condensed in a fraction of the tine of open world games 🤣

Very simple. When Use Boll made the movies Overkill wasn't a thing and it was more about the main games.
Well, you still have to be a good filmmaker to make good movies that are bad on purpose.
HOTD: Scarlet Dawn actually did make its way to the US at Dave & Busters! I managed to find a unit in Oregon in December 2019 and had a playthrough of it!
same played it in D&B. My friends and I beat it I believe lol. they really took advantage of all the zombies it could put on screen now.

A friend of mine was high on ecstasy and had a freakout about halfway through this game the first time we played it and I went home and we never played it again, good times.
Playing this game with my two friends in high school was one of the most fun experiences i have ever had. Spent almost all night playing this

HotD Scarlet Dawn did in fact come out. They have one in an arcade near me and its awesome. Multiple weapons and paths and the loud theater style cab makes it a great experience.
We need a new House of The Dead game
We did, 2 years ago, back to the original developers and director. It's called House of the Dead: Scarlet Dawn, and its not that great either in my humble opinion lol (at least not as good as the first 4 games)
There's also remakes of the first two games in the works.
I recommended Typing of the Dead when the teachers gave our class shit for terrible spelling and too many typos. My teachers bloody hated me.

In Overkill extended, you can unlock a minigun with infinite ammo and your combo doesnt decay as badly as the magnum does because it decays after 5 seconds with no kills
I love campy, nonsensical, arcade rail shooters. This is how they should be. Silent Scope was my shit back in the day personally, although it was NOTHINGGGG like this lol.

Scarlet Dawn was released 2018 in the US. At Dave and Buster's apparently. Means nothing to me as a UK person. Couldn't find anything on ports to Pc etc.

From what I looked up. House of the dead scarlet Dawn is still in japan arcades. Sadly with Covid-19 we may not see any American release for a while. Even tho it's been about 2 years for it to come here in America.

The Wii was a haven for light gun games. Overkill wasn't just grandiose parody, the mechanics and polish were tight.

In all seriousness, loved this game, I pretty much 100% it on the Wii, this version is actually harder as well, still quite a good game. Too bad it seems the studio shut down, I would've loved to see them make some sort of sequel to this style of HotD games.

I know people like to meme all over rail-shooters nowadays, but man was I happy to get a Wii U and some gun mounts for the wiimotes when I got that console. I hadn't ever gotten a Wii but I love light gun games at the arcade, so one of my first purchases for my Wii U was a Wii copy of House of the Dead 2 and 3, along with that one Dead Space rail shooter. They're not deep games but holy shit did it feel nice to just have that in my home without dropping tons of money on a HotD or Time Crisis cabinet.
I've got both the Typing of the Dead games, one of which is Overkill. I don't think I knew that this version of the game was also on the Overkill I got. I don't really know how much fun it would be with a mouse, but the typing versions of the games are amazing... although I'm sure they suck if you're horrible on a keyboard. I knew all those typing classes I took growing up would payoff bigtime.
when I was a Teen my friend brought this game and we play thoug it like in two sessions, it was so fun and the coop feeling of just shooting the zombies out of the way of each other felt so goddamn great and the story if this game was so fun

It was quite comfortable but the 30FPS and drops below can ruin the momentum. For the re-release I only have access to the PC version, otherwise it's quite fluid and works well enough
The trick to getting the best combo in the game: Use the shotgun or handcannon. Literally breaking the game in half.

You can also get this game on the PS3 but it does not have typing of the Dead but on the bright side you can use a move controller with a gun attachment

You can use a wiimote and a dolphin bar to emulate a mouse pointer. That’s how I played this version.
I have seen scarlet dawn here in the states at a round 1 arcade
i played this one when it came out, the whole strippers thing was a dlc launched some time after, and it would play all missions in one go, then the gold overkill remaster ultimate pack launched, since the strippers dlc was included, they decided that mixing the missions was a good idea, instead of keeping both story lines separated like in the original.
I've played Scarlet Dawn at a Dave and Busters. It might be exclusive to them, at least in regards to the states.

Also full auto weapons have a more generous combo timeframe since its based on time before your next kill over accuracy

The game actually does need all the f-bombs. Particularly the motherfuckers. The last boss literally crawls back up into his own giant zom - I mean, "mutant" mother, and Washington doesn't say mother fucker. It's a thousand setups for a single payoff. It's *glorious*.

Ahh...The House of the Dead: Overkill, the black sheep of the series that either people really love for its grindhouse aesthetic, gore, and overall ridiculousness, or hate it so much for being a far cry in its tone and story compared to the previous 4 games. So divisive, that whether its canon or not is still shrouded in mystery lol

I still prefer the original Wii version to this Extended Cut. While the graphics are definitely nicer I feel like they left out a few of the funnier acting moments from the original version and replaced it with the over-the-top wobbly animations. Plus there's a lot of jank here and there.
Also HOTD: Scarlet Dawn came out in arcades back in 2018! If you have a Dave and Buster's near ya they should have an arcade machine there!
Man I always hoped Scarlet Dawn would come to PS4, HOTD4's PS3 port was solid.
I do know there ps3 version supported 3D both built in 3D tv 3D and the 3D that makes ya wear two tone glasses

This game's soundtrack is pure gold. Having played both PS3 and Wii version I gotta say I enjoyed the Wii better. I dunno if it's due to the lower resolution but the game feels better overall even if the PS3 has extended/new levels.
i would disagree, while it was fine for the time, going back to the Wii version with the unstable framerate, makes the game much harder to play.
