Dude Muay Thai leg kicks are nightmares. If you get kicked once it's painful and messes with your balance. It is scarier if the fighter spams it hahaha
depends on the person and exactly how the kick connects. you can easily absorb and deflect the kick, many just are not that good, or get caught off guard. js it's definitely no worse than bamboo across your legs lol
I did light sparring w a family friend who does muay thai. He kicked me lightly and it screwed up my quad and hamstring for 2 weeks. I saw his hard kicks so I know he was going easy.
Pulling off crescent kicks in Muay Thai has been one of my go to's... Nice feeling when you merge different style of kicks and not be locked in with what you've been taught
Most ignorant statement I’ve seen in this comment section🤦🏽♂️ Karate has more effective striking with hands, karate kicks aren’t as strong but they are faster and more tricky to figure out. Karate also has a better ground game. Not taking anything away from Muy Thai as like I said it has stronger kicking techniques, a better clinch, and better use of elbows I feel like.
Fun Fact: Kyokushin recommends snapping the kick if its a head kick and following through when its a body or leg kick. Nat try not bouncing or checking too much when in the Muay Thai stance, just check when someone does a leg kick, because checking at the wrong time will make you eat a low kick. And bouncing will make you a victim of a sweep in Muay Thai :)
This is honestly one of the coolest videos on the internet! Please if you find yourself looking for a video please try to more of this, it was so nice!
Not to be to critical, but you need to angle your leg more when checking kicks. Especially if you want to use the “Thai style” of checking. If you point you knee forward too much you might catch a stray leg kick along your entire thigh which is way worse than it hitting your shin. I love your stuff, keep it up man👍
My coach told me when I started Muay Thai years and years ago that … when you kick in Muay Thai you need to imagine your leg is a baseball bat swinging with the aim to chop the other guy’s legs … it will hurt you .. but it will hurt him more
Many people really undermine karate. When in fact karate has one of the best footwork for closing in and for getting out of enemy's range. After many years I trained karate again and incorporated it in my mma sparrings and many times it catches my opponents off guard
I am planning on starting muay thai training, but I would also like to learn some karate kicks. More variety means more versatility when it comes to fights
Any combinations between striking and grappling work, the obvious would be boxing-wrestling. On the street you mostly be throwing hands and trying not to touch the ground.
i feel like for most people muay thai is easier to learn while karate and taekwondo styles are harder to use in real matches, but if mastered imo is way better than the typical squared thai stance
And this is exactly why MMA is better than knowing one specific martial art. Variety allows you to improve and move away from a single style's weakness.
As someone that knows both a karate master and Muay Thai master, and asking to feel both their kicks… I’d rather get kicked by the karate guy. Imagine the difference between a bat and sledge hammer. Both aren’t great, bat hurts less.
Late but don’t forget how Muay Thai kicks are pretty much like baseball bats, that they hit you with pretty much the entire leg’s weight Unlike karate where the kicks are snapped
Muay Thai is one of my favourite martial arts just for the sheer effectiveness of it. If I'm in a fight, I want to end it quickly, and my god can a well trained Muay Thai fighter end a fight quickly.
Dude... I have pretty strong legs, I'm heavy (not fat, just heavy) so my kick cause a lot of pain. I'm not out of shape, heck my arms and legs are the most trained parts of my body. But yesterday our coach told us to give 10% power and do an exterior low kick, then the other would respond with an interior one. My match was significantly smaller and more slim, yet after 10 kicks my left leg HURT
People who say being kicked in the legs won’t hurt have never been kicked in the legs by a Muay Thai fighter
I always just tell them to punch themself in the thigh and they instantly believe me
Dude Muay Thai leg kicks are nightmares. If you get kicked once it's painful and messes with your balance. It is scarier if the fighter spams it hahaha
It feels like somebody is trying to stab your leg with a jagged, sharp, and hot rock

Kick enemy
Enemy block kick
*KICK THROUGH ENEMY BLOCK*
What I Got From This :
Karate = Faster, More Potential
Muay Thai = Stronger, More Endurance
I might start martial arts soon but I don’t know what martial art to start with. I want to learn self-defense.
Any combinations between striking and grappling work, the obvious would be boxing-wrestling. On the street you mostly be throwing hands and trying not to touch the ground.
karate/muay-thai/boxing plus Bjj/wrestling/judo in any combination. Make sure you find karate gym where they do spar a lot.
if you don’t have any major problems i would say brazilian jiu jitsu, but i would also learn a striking sport
Next do muay tai vs taekwondo.
Fighting muay thai fighter for more than 5 mins instantly deletes your legs
Muay Thai kicks probably feels like getting hit by Ivan drago
in muay thai, you use a tilting movement on the spot, you don't jump 😂😂😂
Yes, you can't fight muay thai flying like a butterfly and stinging like a bee. You need to be solid like a mountain and killer like a shoot
And they always say most footwork is faster then muay thai but really a muay thai fighter can become rlly fast
Combining the two would give advantage
