@@SieMiezekatze To be honest, I can't be arsed to put enough of an effort into chess to get past beginner (or advanced beginner whenever I play more often) level, so I will always play a loser chess. For me, it's more fun anyway to just play casually with friends or other chess losers, and in that atmosphere strictly game-related banter, piss takes, shit-talk and mind games were usually appreciated and went both ways. Just like when playing video games. That's situations where you already know each other on some level at least and know it's not creepy. Completely different than playing with strangers like in the video, though. Well, I used to play with some more serious amateur players on medium advanced levels from time to time, with a couple of chess club amateurs on an advanced level just a few times, and only once at a tournament where there was a mixture of that and a couple of (most likely) pros. That was an entirely different vibe, I wouldn't even have thought of trying to begin any chit-chat with them, I was too busy figuring out what the fuck just hit me while the clock (never played with a clock before, except online) stressed me out. 🤣

I'd guess Tom was 2050-2075. He probably beats a lot of players using opening traps or midgame tactics, but your long-range tactical advantage was able to see what he was up to and defuse the attacks and create a solid and unstoppable counterattack.
@@martinpaddlei imagine he's 2000 blitz on lichess all day long. Wouldn't be suprised if his endgame play is suspect. I'm curious as to this guy's strength. He could be anywhere between 1700 to 2100 fide.
I'd say he was about 1800, maybe less. Might sound low but his style was typical of that kind of rating. He wins through bamboozling players by being tricky and forcing panic mistakes, but he was not solid and his game ended up falling apart (also typical of that rating).

He lost as soon as he sat down. Your energy is so positively captivating that it is extremely alluring. By the time he realize how good you were and you were playing to win, it was too late for him. I don't know how to play chess and wish I knew how but you make me want to learn. I do enjoy your videos.
Never too old to learn chess! When you start, kick the king out of the set of pieces first. You don't need him yet. Go about learning moves first, and how to take out other pieces. Do it this way: Pick one piece, memorize its legal moves. Play with just this type of piece on the board until you feel comfortable in how to move them. Repeat with another type of piece. Make sure it is the pawns this time, unless they were before. Combine the two types of pieces next and see how you get along then. Next, pick a third type of pieces. Play just with that one on the board. Then combine it with the pawns. When you have learned moving all the pieces (except for the king) in combination with pawns, you can move on to combining the pawns with two (or, eventually, more) other types of pieces. Once you have learned the basics that way (taking out pieces), it's time to introduce the king and the special rules that apply to him. The King makes all the difference, for he forces you not to make it about taking out pieces, but to make it about positioning. But you need to have the other stuff down first. Once you got this, the King thing will follow more naturally, because the basic moves will be on autopilot by now, giving you the headspace to focus on the main gameplay.
i love the commentary, humility and humbleness is such a gift to be enjoyed by others. watching your moves play out brought a smile to my face. real chess

@Nba7yt Nope he has the loser mentality of an insecure male who couldn’t comprehend how a woman is a better player
Not a great guy. He's passive aggressively tying to mentally dominate you by suggesting moves and "helping" and then pointing out your time ticking down. He knew he couldn't outright beat you, so he started playing head games to get you off balance.

@@alsanchez5038It's not terrible, it's a valid tactic. Makes him come across as desperate, but sometimes this can work.
It's dishonorable and not cool though
@@elevenseven-yq4vu maybe to you , but as a woman i had to learn to ignore guys being creepy like that so you better just learn to play without being a loser
The phrase “A friendly game of chess” is an oxymoron.
Your opponent wasn't overconfident.
It was the mental game that he played with you.
Thankfully, you didn't play his game.
Brillant match. Bravo.
She knows. Its a clickbait title for fishes like you.
I would even add that bringing mental game is quite a proof of unsecurity about your own mastering : you think you can't win by your own, you need to mess with your opponent.
Win is a win, there is no glory in loosing.
@@user-wn1jf7pg6x well. "Win is a win" imply that any way of winning is ok.
I prefer to loose honestly, and enjoying anyway (sometimes with real pure fun) than winning by cheating, griefing, raging or being contemptuous...
Besides the fact that chess is recognized as a sport, and so you are expected to value your opponent and the rules as much as yourself.
After 30 years of gaming, I'm still searching the glory in winning by cheating...
@@user-wn1jf7pg6xthere is no glory in winning by cheating. none at all. if you need to cheat to win, you're simply not good enough and therefore you shouldn't even be competing.
I'd guess Tom was 2050-2075. He probably beats a lot of players using opening traps or midgame tactics, but your long-range tactical advantage was able to see what he was up to and defuse the attacks and create a solid and unstoppable counterattack.
He does not play like a 2000+ player. On lichess maybe, but not 2000 FIDE

Yes, BJJ type of a person
More like a rating of 950

My guess 1250

You are the first teacher I actually understand,...and thank you for sharing the mental side.
I love your game and it just so happens we do the same openings
I'm so happy and encouraged about this!
Thank you
He lost as soon as he sat down.
Do it this way:
Pick one piece, memorize its legal moves.
I really loved the narration on the moves and your thinking. Thanks Anna.
Great Fun to watch. I am so pleased you beat Tom - the tricky “nice guy” who took his loss like a gentleman.i look forward to your next posting. ☮️
i love the commentary, humility and humbleness is such a gift to be enjoyed by others. watching your moves play out brought a smile to my face. real chess
I looked him up, and he is 1940 British rating, and 1829 FIDE before the rating change a couple of days ago.
Kind of what I would have guessed actually
I thought it was around 2200 , overestimated this one.
Is that good?

Tom underestimated you from the beginning.
Yep. That’s why he played so aggressively . Thought it would be easy
Little did he know he was playing a GM in the making...
How kind of you to say that.
Who cares
I'm sure my previous comment will be misunderstood. I said it was "kind" to say she will become a GM because it is absolutely false. If she isn't a GM now, she never will be. She has topped out at being a WFM, just like Alex Botez.
He's much more likely to be a GM in the making than she is, but really neither are.
@@JimBalter There are just over 2000 GMs awarded since 1950...he's def. not one of them and never going to be. Only 40 of those are women, one being her mom. Nothing wrong with that...she's making a living doing what she enjoys. Kudos.

I was smiling, watching you guys the whole time super fun video to watch and to everyone that thinks he was giving her advice to mess with her head. I think he was doing it as a friendly gesture. A lot of us don’t feel very competitive when we are having so much fun in a game, it’s less about winning and more about making sure the other person is having as good of a time as you. I think he was giving her advice to the best of his knowledge, but she was smart not to listen because she needs to play from her own mind and get out from under his anyway , super fun to watch. I have no idea what his rating is regardless so Fun

Just finished the video. I'm so glad that you didn't let his overconfidence and mind games of trying to tell his moves and making move suggestions for you throw you off your own game. He ended up a sitting duck by keeping his king in the middle unprepared for your tactical moves.
That was beautiful. Loved the taking through it you did, explaining, thought process, etc.. i wish i could play you so badly and just play a million games with you. I really like and admire your personality. Respect

That was Fabulous Anna! And what a superb commentary. Yes please film the next matches!
Wow! He blushed as he was shaking your hand. He was in shock.
Our friend Tom looked pretty smitten
She is quite the beautiful woman. My guess is his "blush" (as you termed it), was more from the (reportedly) four-pints of beer consumed before this game and the fifth consumed during this game. Either way, it was a good chess match. The beautiful Anna has no humility, which will, eventually, catch-up with her.
@@Pedsonc01the guy was rude and patronizing of Anna, Anna held a optimistic mind and was just way better than him and outsmarted his head games. She even complimented him.

Not taking your knight with his queen at 14:14 was the dumbest thing he did, that's why he lost. He needs to not drink while playing. Anytime I play with overconfident players I never lose. The only annoying thing is they never stop talking.
Why would he not drink, he is at a pubb having fun, she should drink more actually or not drink at all, what is tthe point in ordering a cold beer and then not drinking it 15min.

12:57 His ONLY option was Rd2 because Qxf2 was checkmate, or he was losing a bishop. He had to put pressure on your Queen. There was no other option.

"you play mind games"😂 this reminds me when i am playing with my brother, it is always the mind games
I am a casual, playing with casuals only. Mind games are what can sometimes get me to turn a lost game into an instance of my opponent getting frustrated and spiteful enough to fall for a stalemate bait of mine. Yeah, I am that bad a player that the people I play with and cannot even beat are bad enough themselves to fall for that kind of shit. 😅 No shame in having been a total noob for decades if I still can have fun that way. i know absolutely nothing about chess and yet you made the whole thing insanely riveting to watch. Awesome stuff.
I put Tom on 1600-1700 Elo. Knowledgeable enough to have a solid plan but not enough to pivot away from it once it fails to deliver. Also that YOLO attitude he has suggests just enough knowledge and experience to be dangerous but not enough to truly be threatening, if that makes any sense.
Attractive people, sexual tension, beer, chess. Peak life, right here.

It's called chemistry, Anna. :)
The thing in this game is that he drank his beer and Anna didn't 😂😂
Anna only had time to sip her beer.
It was probably given to her and she really didn't want it but was being polite.
Actually, Anna ate his lunch and then washed it down afterward with the beer.
There was a GM who once played Magnus. He drank something, maybe brandy. He was best out of the opening, but as the game went further and the bottle emptier he got less presice and lost. I guess its easy to play with one beer, maybe two, but after 3 or 4 glasses you sacrifice some presision.
I never got the excitement around chess but i think it's starting to slowly light up in me with your video, great job!
