My friend pls go do research on taking statins. They are not good for women. Cholesterol is not the enemy. We need it. Pls pls go out and do research on cholesterol. Many good doctors out there on the subject. Most are against women taking statins. I say this in love.
Yes please, do some research, maybe try a holistic doctor and not just your regular old school doctor who is only treating symptoms by happily prescribing drugs. I’m happy to hear that you are feeling well but not sure if using a hormone patch for the next 30-40 years is a good idea. Also have to agree that cholesterol is not a bad thing per se. Tryclycerines are a problem. Take a comprehensive blood test that shows the whole spectrum not only the usual 3 cholesterol markers. Talk to a doctor who undetstands all those issues and can explain them to you. It changed my life! I’m post meopause and do not take any drugs, just a couple of natural supplements. Yes, going through menopause is not fun but you get to know your body and work through it. I’m intermittent fasting, gluten free and low carb/low sugar. Yes it does take some adjustments but I feel healthy and happy and not deprived of anything This improved all my significant blood levels including thyroid antibodies and hormones. I highly recommend to listen to Dr Mindy Pelz on youtube! Best of luck ❤
Hi Renee. I had a " forced " hysterectomy at 45 yeaes old, I'm 72 now. At 45, I started spit bleeding between periods. Had a uterine biopsy and it cane back as cells showing atipia, which are definitely precancerous cells. I could have wound up with full blown cancer at anytime 1 year or 20 years from then. So my wonderful Ob-Gyn did a lapriscopic hysterectomy at 45 years old. I never had to go thru menopause thank God. Right after leaving hospital I went on a low dose of estrogen. Stayed on it for a few years then my primary doc took me off. I've done completely fine ever since never any menopause symtoms. I DO NOT have MUCH SEXUAL DRIVE though. I did lose my husband 13 year's ago, so who cares. Haven't dated or had intimacy with anyone. If I get the urge or some drive lol, I just get out my MR. ELECTRIC haha😅😂
Hello I have just had a hysterectomy this week and watching your videos, has confirmed I have done the right thing for my body. I had exactly the same issues, enlarge womb and as I call it "Mr blobby" remove - which weighed 1.2kilos !!! Truly thankyou for these amazing videos ❤
I finally had my robotic assisted hysterectomy back in February. I had two fibroids, one was the size of a grapefruit and the other one was the size of a plum. They made me have to pee like crazy but I couldn’t fully empty my bladder every time. It also made eating and digestion difficult. Having the surgery has been a life saver. Quite literally. It’s only been 2 months but I can already tell that my CBC levels are getting better. And I can go for longer walks and exercises because I’m no longer in pain. I kept my ovaries so no menopause yet. But the perimenopause started about a year ago. Can’t say I’m a fan of it but I know it’s going to happen.
when would you say you were able to start lifting heavy things again? they say recovery is 4 to 6 weeks but it seems even at six weeks Renee mentions that she is not fully back to normal. how was your experience?
Greetings Renee! I had my hysterectomy when I was 47 and it's been 20 years now. It really is a relief not to have all those issues from the extreme bleeding, etc. anymore. Congratulations on making it through the journey so far! Love and blessings ♥️🙏
I want to thank you so much for posting your experience. I found your video by chance 3 weeks ago after being sent home from the hospital after a total hysterectomy and bowel resection all done robotically the same way your surgery was done. I was not given any information for after care, post op info, nothing. So grateful that I found your videos when I did! You eased my mind by sharing your experience and the info you got from your doctor. You should get an award for the films you shared.
Ive been watching your videos because I just had a hysterectomy last week. I’ve also been on hormones for 3 years due to early menopause. My cholesterol also went high when the meno began. Get your hrt to an “optimal” level. You’re on a super low dose. You could definitely benefit from a higher dose. There are so many menopause symptoms besides hot flashes and mood issues and they will slowly sneak up. We aren’t told of all the terrible symptoms. Also add progesterone and testosterone. Once my levels were a little higher and I was on all 3 my cholesterol lowered back down to much better levels. Like others have said please research statins. Our brains need cholesterol. I wish you the best on your journey.
I really appreciate all your information.. I watched your previous video about your experience and I’m here for the follow up.. I’m 44 and had a consultation today for possible hysterectomy because of fibroids and polyps.
I have my hysterectomy when I was 37 years old and been a challenge with the menopause and all the medical problems I had, I love your channel blessings from Connecticut
Hi Renee, I am new to your channel am 48 years old - in fact subscribed only few days ago when I discovered your hysterectomy journey. Your video is coming out at the right time,as I was wondering how you are getting on now. Am on waiting list for hysterectomy ( robotic total laparoscopic hysterectomy with ovarian preservation ) - I am finally ready and actually really looking forward to it - as my quality of life is not great at the moment due to issues why I need my hysterectomy. Was trying to avoid it for last 3 years as I needed to accept the fact that I am ok without children and now I am genuinely looking forward to it. Thank you for your honesty and sharing your journey. Lots of love,Katarina x
Welcome! Like you, I put it off for a year or so because I simply was scared of the surgery. I'm now so glad I did it. I think you'll feel the same. Best of luck to you Katarina!
I hope you get what you want soon! I'm 38 and 6 months post hysterectomy, wasn't able to have children either. I'm feeling really really good. Quality of life is sooooo much better. I have endometrosis and I had severe adenomyosis. I still have my ovaries as well.
@stephaniehaile6541 Hi Stephanie, thank you for your reply. I really appreciate it. I have multiple huge fibroids as well as huuugely enlarged uterus, am in a lot of pain and pressure in my abdomen and my coccyx and bottocks where it radiates. One of my fibroids sits on a top of my bladder, much like Renee's. I genuinely can't wait. Next week I am going to get injection to temporarily shut down my ovaries, as to give me a relief as my stomach is all damaged from iron tablets ( due to anemia from heavy periods ) abd can't take any pain relief. The injection will also cause shrinkage of uterus and my fibroids,so surgery can be easier and less risky as I have 9 large fibroids. It may cause temporarily signs of menopause- so I guess I will get a glimpse of it what it feels like for 3 months. But my gyne surgeon told me,that not all women get menopausal symptoms,so guess we will see 😊.
OMG! I wish I could hug you! You have helped millions of people by sharing your personal journey. I am about to go through the same procedure and wanted reviews from a real person and not medical advertisements. I feel I can get through this now. Thanks
I am 45 & have a laproscopic robotic hysterectomy on May 24. Keeping my ovaries. Your page bas been amazing to me. You have given me hope & made feel not so alone in my feelings. ❤
I’ve just had a hysterectomy and best advise I can give is to make sure you clean out your digestive system. No one told me this and I read up on it and wished I had more time to cleanse before my surgery-believe me it will help so so much. Best of luck to you!
Hi how are you doing so far after your hysterectomy? And what type of hysterectomy? I'm considering to have it or Ablation. I had my hysterescopy biopsy last april 3 due to uterine abnormal bleeding for like 21 days. Biopsy came back Benign, Doctor didn't find any abnormalities in the uterus. Started low dose of birth control pill mid of april. I still bleed for 21 days and i guess I'm having the breakthrough bleeding now, and having some side effects. My provider wants me to give the birthcontrol pill 3 months to see how it will help. I'm tired, exhausted, not much of energy, emotional and others. Now i feel like i want it all gone. Im 50-50 of keeping the ovary. Did you have your uterus, cervix and fallopian tube taken out? And leave the ovary? Thank you so much for time to answer my questions. I'm trying to get information as much i can.
Happy Friday Renee!! ❤ I had a total hysterectomy 9 months ago I was able to keep my ovaries I was 39 at the time. Your videos helped me prepare for my surgery. And entertained me during my recovery. Unfortunately my hysterectomy has caused a prolapse of my bladder and any time I have stool issues it effects my prolapse and makes my cuff sore and makes me feel very uncomfortable. I am glad to hear your hysterectomy has helped you! I really wish I could say the same.
Hi Renee, I am having issues with my menstrual cycles etc... I have been mildly anemic for a few years. Well now I'm severely anemic. I had a blood transfusion earlier this week. I'm feeling better from that. I'm afraid I'll be told I will have to have a hysterectomy. I had a biopsy yesterday, so we will see. Thank you for this video. I needed to hear this. It is helpful.
Prior to deciding to have my own hysterectomy, I started searching for hysterectomy stories here on TH-cam. Especially after I tried an ablation and it failed. That's how I found you and your wonderful channel!! I was also afraid that a hysterectomy would hinder intimacy, but it did the complete opposite. It is sooooo much better, especially as I don't have to plan around a very heavy and intense period any longer. I chose to have everything removed except my ovaries, and I'm very happy with the outcome. Mine was also a robotic surgery with 5 tiny incisions. Best decision I ever made!!!

@@Kiki5268 Hi! i saw your comment on my notification but lost it and i cant find right away. I'm still on birth control pill but my provider changed to progesterone pill only, The brand is ERRIN- Norithindone .35 mg/pill for 28 days. I started July and a month after, my period only last for 7 days ( previous pill was still 14 days), following month September my period stayed 7-8 days, October, Didn't get my period and up till this day Didn't get any period, Tomorrow Nov. 20, it would be 3rd cycle of no period if i followed my 25-days cycle. So far the pill is working on my Abnormal bleeding of 21 days. No ablation or Hysterectom for me now. I haven't updated my OB NPractioner of my missed period, I'll wait for this coming cycle.
I had a hysterectomy last September, after a scare with a pre-cancerous polyp, and they took my ovaries, tubes and all (laparoscopic, but non-robotic, in my case). I recovered well and felt confident that I would be fine after seeing your story. And when I had to go on hormone therapy (Premarin, in my case), I was also positive and encouraged about that, thanks to your videos. Since I use pills but no patches, there's no need for me to worry about swimming or soaking in a tub without a waterproof bandage over top. I can attest that I, too, feel "flippin' fantastic" since my recovery and after starting on estrogen. My scars are still in the process of fading, but over time I'm sure they'll blend right in, and they're tiny already. Even my hair is looking better now, whether due to estrogen replacement or just no more blood loss from that pesky polyp. Overall, I'm glad I went through with it, and glad I found your channel to help me understand what to expect before I went in!
I had a laparoscopic hysterectomy three days ago (kept only my ovaries), and your series of videos has been so helpful for guiding my own recovery journey. Thank you for sharing your experiences with us!❤
Because of your videos sharing what you went through, I was able to go through a total hysterectomy as well. They took my uterus, my ovaries, my cervix, my lymph nodes around the area because I had endometrial cancer, a tumor and cysts. I found that out after the hysterectomy so I reckon it was right on time. Im doing great at almost a month out. Believe it or not but my pain prior to surgery was worse than post surgery pain and that's with Pain pills! Thats terrrible. God gave me so much peace. Gave me a good surgeon, on the 7th floor at suite 700. Its unreal how God planned it all. I still have to be watched though and Im living for better health. So thankyou for sharing your journey.
I agree! My hysterectomy was 20 yrs ago at age 43. It was a piece of cake compared to the pain I endured FOR DECADES. No HRT; it has been smooth sailing for me. I had hot flashes for 3-4 months after surgery and they disappeared. Absolutely no complaints and wish I’d done it much SOONER. P.S. during surgery it was discovered that not only did I have fibroids, but I had a horrific case of endometriosis and a chocolate cyst. All those years of feeling soooo bad, horrible mood swings, dragging myself to work, taking care of my family, battling constant anemia - I encourage you ladies, don’t live like that. My best years have been post-hysterectomy ❤
I had a hysterectomy about 15 years ago and kept my ovaries. I had a fibroid which was casing heavy blood loss and pain. It felt like the best thing ever to not have that problem every month. I’m 73 now
So, did you eventually go on early menopause because I heard a lot of people saying whether you leave the ovaries or not ,you will still go on early menopause?
@@josephineudogu2518 No if I remember rightly I didn’t go on early menopause. I had most of my symptoms before my op. Afterwards all I remember is getting sore breast like I would have had before my period once a month but that gradually went away away.
Hi. I just had a laparoscopic sigmoid colon resection and total hysterectomy last Friday. I did keep my ovaries, by request, even though I will be turning 54. I have other medical issues and did not want to be plummeted into full menopause. All my pathology came back cancer free ( thank God) and I am hoping for a good longterm outcome. As soon as I am cleared, I will be looking to work with a PT to maintain and further strengthen my pelvic floor to try to prevent any issues. BTW ladies: with either menopause or removal of your ovaries, your LDL will increase. Your body takes LDL and converts it to the hormones we need...estrogen, progesterone etc. With menopause, we slow and stop making the hormones, thus, the LDL is no longer being used up. The same thing for HRT. You are providing your body the estrogen it needs, thus the LDL is not being used in this situation either.
Please please please do not offer medical advice to someone already happy with their treatment plan. What works for Renee may not always work for someone else but Renee knows her body and I'm sure she has done her own research. She is sharing what has worked for her. Please respect her right to choose what works best for her own body.
Hi Renee thank you so much for sharing your journey. I found you 3 weeks before the same operation. Wow I can't thank you enough the travel cushion the lip balm. What to expect etc has helped me so much I'm at 3 weeks post op and it went really well. I've come back to your videos again and again for reference. You're more help than the hospital who discharge with no follow up appointments. I'm so grateful to you 💛 thanks again. 🙏
I found you during my research for my exact same procedure for the same reason - also started growing out my gray hair at the same time! I’m six months behind you but soooo appreciate feeling less alone and scared because of your videos❤ Thanks girl ❤
My hysterectomy changed my life only for the better as well! I actually found you through my own hysterectomy research. For me, intimacy and not having a period is phenomenal. My cervix used to dip very low and would interfere with my intimate life as would the constant pain I was in. Now everything is wonderful. BEST decision EVER! Your videos on hysterectomy gave me a lot of courage to go through with it! Thank you!!!!
I had very painful menses from age 10-47. I had a radical hysto like you did. However, I'm allergic to the sticky patches so I switched to low dose Estradiol pill. Having this surgery was the best thing I've ever done! I finally got my life back.
Renee , your comments may very well be terrifying for someone who is entering menopause naturally. It doesn’t have to be scary or difficult at all! I entered into menopause naturally and when my hot flashes were bothersome just like they were for you for a few weeks I went to my doctor got on hormone replacement therapy and have been fine since😊. I would not say I struggled at all naturally with fluctuating hormones coming into menopause.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your videos, you stood out by far on TH-cam in bringing me peace of mind, education, and transparency. I am 36 yo and had a mass, severe PCOS and endo. I continue to share your videos with other women around me and again can’t thank you enough for your wisdom. 🙏🏼
I hope once I get over this hump, that my hysterectomy will be the best thing to happen. I had vaginal cuff dishesion with evisceration, the sutures dissolved before I was healed... I was 9 weeks out from my total abdominal hysterectomy. Everything was removed. It was pretty scary stuff. I hope I am on the mends...I want to have good report.
@melaniel9440 how did you know? Were you still bleeding after a certain amount of time, was it painful? And did you have to go thru another surgery? I'm concerned may have that issue.
Renee, Thank you for sharing your journey with us from the get go. I watched you a year ago going through the blood transfusion, the hysterectomy diagnosis, the lead up to the hysterectomy, all of it. You have provided us with such a truthful, detailed account that we are fortunate to have. Thank you! I have to say I also had fun on the eclipse day! Seeing those ribbons of light on the concrete was something I've never seen before! We are blessed to have you and your husband sharing these videos with us.
Your info is a god send! I just booked my first appt thru your link below and couldn’t be more excited after my hysterectomy last week. You’re such a gift, keep the vids coming!
I am 57 and had a complete (everything!) hysterectomy at 40 due to heart & blood loss issues. I was thrown into surgical menopause. I had a couple months of depression-like symptoms (crying for no reason, moody as heck, etc) and then went on HRT for about 2 yrs. Decided to wing it & try life without HRT and it's been great for me! And as far as intimacy with my husband.... MUCH MUCH better for many reasons! Glad to find another hyster-sister Renee!!!
Hello, your comment gives me hope . I’m 57 and just had total radical hysterectomy as well and worried about sex life with my husband , with no ovaries and no sex hormones , but you say it’s better than ever? Dud that just happen naturally for you?
@@embodiedrealization9377 YES! Without getting too specific, the fireworks are much brighter than before (if you get what I mean) I took HRT for 7yrs but havent now for almost 10yrs. Give it time, it wont happen super quick because you're still healing and likely very nervous about everything. But hopefully, it happens the same for you and 4th of July will happen way more often than 1x a year! Yes, keep that hope & positive thinking!
Thank you so much for sharing your journey. You’ve helped me the most with your videos with being so open and honesty. I’m 56 and will be having a radical hysterectomy also, robotic Davinci. I still have monthly periods, with very little menopausal symptoms, but my fibroid uterus and recurring painful ovarian cysts has led me to this next chapter. God bless and peace be with be you.
My Dear Renee, You are truly a blessing to U-Tube.. You did such a wonderful job discussing this personal and very important subject. Renee, It was so eloquently and most of all accurately demonstrated. Thank You....🌻
Thank you so much for all your hysterectomy videos they were so hopeful before I had my total hysterectomy due to cancer I’m really grateful to you. God Bless you keep the good work.
My hysterectomy was six months ago and as you have stated life is so much better after the hysterectomy I have just recently started adding small amounts of testosterone to my HRT and OMG that was a game changer. The energy that I now have is amazing. My husband loves it, I feel like I am in my 20s again and not my mid 50s. I have to go through several doctors to get the testosterone and it does have to be compounded, but it was definitely a conversation that I’m glad I had with my wonderful doctor and she was willing to prescribe it for me.🤗😁
Thanks so much for the update, I had my own radical hysterectomy three months after yours for very similar reasons.... your videos truly helped me so much in keeping a positive outlook. Ditto loving not having a period ever again and woohoo for bladder control. ;)
Good Morning Renee! Thank you for sharing your journey through your hysterectomy. I was very lucky...I sailed through menopause with few side effects...& like all the women in my family...we never had to take any HRT either. 👍🤞🍀 Just genetically blessed. I certainly have many girlfriends who went through horrific symptoms from their menopause. One of my girlfriends is 67 years old & still suffers hot flashes. 😳😕 She has been in post menopause & still suffers from that. Yikes! She just despises it. Thank you for sharing this video with us. 👍🇨🇦😊
I’m so grateful to you, Renee, for your willingness to speak frankly with us about important subjects. As women, we need to share and encourage one another, especially about sensitive subjects that we may not even discuss with our closest friends. You are a blessing. ❤ Debbie
I found you through your hysterectomy videos. I had mine last year at 48 and followed a lot of your advice for post-care! I feel great since mine too and had no issues. Thank you!
I am 43yrs old with 11cm Fibroids, will be going thru Hysterectomy shortly,One question,do you still have to care when you lift/move heavy things? Your videos are so so helpful, thank you
Thank you for this video! ❤ I’m having a hysterectomy in a few weeks and I’m also on medication that raises my cholesterol so I was hoping you would say your cholesterol went down after a hysterectomy. 😉 My dietician shared with me she also had to start a low dose statin because despite her efforts, she wasn’t able to lower her cholesterol on her own. Would you mind sharing which statin you found helpful and what you used on your scars to lighten them? Thank you in advance and I’m glad you’re pleased with your surgery!
I think every person's response to surgical or natural menopause is different. I had a radical hysterectomy at 42. I took bioidentical creams the first 3 years and then things leveled off and have not taken anything since. At 65 my cholesterol is still in normal levels, but my blood pressure is climbing, my hair did not change in any way until my 60's started thinning. My libido did go to zero. I developed osteoporosis. I have menopause symptoms on and off throughout the years. They come and go as far as hot flashes, sleeplessness and then go away. I am most concerned about my osteoporosis. I'm going to start on a low dose estrogen patch long enough to see if my bone density number stay stable. If I can prevent anymore bone loss I'll count it as a win. I'm also testing to see if my vaginal atrophy, dryness and bladder issues resolve. I wish I knew all that I now know and started and stayed on estradiol since my hysterectomy. I could possibly have avoided osteoporosis. Like any medication my dr and I will be watching for side effects. I agree with the concern for statins. They wanted to put my husband on statins since his 30's and after research I said no. Now in his 60's it hasn't gone any higher, but at times tests normal. Has had tests on his veins and heart and no indication of heart disease. Every single person is different and has to make their own decision. I am thankful that we can research everything and inform ourselves before we go to the Dr and just blindly take anything they tell us. Good luck to all who are in middle of making decisions about menopause peri-menopause and any other illness you might be dealing with. Most of all love and care for yourself as you would your child. Pay attention to your body, dont ignore it. ❤
Thank you sooo much!!! I am waiting for a call for my radical hysterectomy… I am so worried about the hormones after the surgery… you have helped my fears a great deal…
So informative, Renee, and it wasn't a long video. It flew by because all of the subjects were pertinent and important. Thank you so much for this. I went into chemically induced menopause during and after my chemotherapy for breast cancer years ago when i was 40 but it seems more so that now while at the age of a more common age of natural menopause (i know that some go thru it earlier than later), I experienced the high cholesterol issue when diet wasn't a contributing factor, nor exercise. I too went on a very low dose of a statin, reluctantly, and it also reduced my levels to normal. Seeing your video made me feel better about some things that were happening. Thank you for your videos.
Renee, thank you so much for updating your journey!!I have been meaning to ask how you have been since starting HRT. I had a hysterectomy (one ovary left) when I was 34, I am now 53. I have been on the fence about HRT because of what I heard regarding estrogen and the fact that I keep having cysts, calcifications and a lymph node in my breasts that they find during my mammograms and ultrasounds. I can't handle the hot flashes and sleepless nights to name a few of my symptoms. I have been thinking about going to my doctor and asking for HRT and I will make that appointment this week thanks to you! Thanks again for the update and your honesty with your journey!
I have found your hysterectomy videos super helpful as i get ready for mine. I'll be 32 when i have mine done next year(or sooner if things get worse), i have my 3 kids and I'm honestly excited to not plan my life and my families lives around my bleeding. we'll be able to go to the beach and pool and hiking without me having to check my shark week calendar. my only hesitation is deciding between keeping my ovaries or getting everything totally removed but otherwise I'm honestly excited to be done with this stupid thing causing me sooooooo many issues.
Glad you are doing well! Just a comment for anyone worrying about going through a “natural” menopause. Not everyone has a terrible time. I managed mine with acupuncture and a natural supplement. I found the more I focused on my symptoms they worsened, so I used CBT and mindfulness to support with that. HRT wasn’t for me , it caused severe bleeding. Menopause (however it arrives) is a very individual thing, I am very grateful mine was not as bad as I thought it might be and very happy to be period free😀
Thanks Renee, very important to talk about these things. I've suffered my whole adult life with Endometriosis, got help many years ago and have been fine. Not had a pariod since I was in my early thirties, I'm now 53. Went off the meds 6 months ago and no Manepaus symptoms 😊 well not yet, let's hope it stays that way! Great video, thank you for sharing. Have a great weekend! 🌞🐾🦴💛
Thanks so much for this update video. I went through menopause naturally, so it doesn't really impact me personally, but it is good to know and share with friends and family of the female persuasion. I referred a friend facing a hysterectomy to your videos and they really helped her a lot.
My estradiol patch cut my total cholesterol from 351 to 194 and my LDL went from 262 to 110. I"m extremely active and I eat healthy *most* of the time, but my cholesterol levels went crazy when I went into menopause. I didn't do anything else for my cholesterol, just the HRT. Btw, I am also from the Paducah area, Ledbetter to be exact, lol!! Thank you for the update and I love your videos!!
@@WelcomeToMyCurls I should've mentioned that I'm on the highest dose of 1 mg estradiol patch. Definitely helped my cholesterol and I just ordered the Niceful dressings, too. Thank you for recommendation :)
Thank you for sharing. I have scheduled an appointment with a menopause specialist and your comments have provided several questions I need to ask …especially about HRT patches. Also, as a curly headed person great insight into the before and after differences. Many thanks!
Hysterectomy at 30 due to endometriosis. My friends have had as well. Best thing we all feel we ever did. Patches hurt my skin so I take easy pill every morning . Best ever. 🌸🌸
Yay, thanks, Renee for sharing your story! I purchased the NexCare bandages, for my cruise, because of your previous recommendation. They worked great! So, I'm going to give these new ones a try for the summer. 😃
Wonderful! I used the new bandages while on vacation in Mexico and they work beautifully! Plus since they don't have that cotton bandage section like the Nexcare, they. lay much flatter and are more comfortable. You'll love them!
Your bladder problem is also better because you’re on HRT. I only had my uterus removed and had an overactive bladder so my GYN put me on an Estring, and it took care of my bladder “talking to me” ALL THE TIME. It was a GODSEND
I was on HRT for 16 years after my hysterectomy and developed breast cancer. My oncologist said more than likely the HRT caused it since I was on it so long and that I didn’t have any family history of breast cancer. You might want to rethink staying on it for the rest of your life. Surgical menopause is hard to go through and I hated the thought of all those symptoms returning because I had to abruptly stop the HRT but it was surprisingly easy and the severe hot flashes only lasted about six months. I wish you all the best.
Renee, you can and should go higher with your estrogen. You are on a low dose and you will not need the statin. You need at least .50 mg to get the benefit for your bones.
I also went through a surgical menopause 18 years ago. All I can say, I was very fortunate that I didn't have any bad issues because I'm not able to do HRT to keep things in check. My only concern is osteoporosis that my doctor is monitoring.
Renee, rather than go on a statin to lower your cholesterol, why didn't you just increase the strength of your estradiol patch? According to Dr. Barbara Taylor, .5 mg is the minimum we should be on. I'm having a hysterectomy in July. Thanks for all your helpful videos on this topic! ❤
My doctor gave me a big NO when I asked about that. The HRT dosage I'm on is correct for me but isn't effecting my cholesterol. She says raising the HRT level won't help but only hurt.
@WELCOMETOMYCURLS that's really interesting... Did she say HOW it would be harmful? (I'm asking because my cholesterol levels are up and I was going to ask about increasing the strength of my patch.)
My sister was on Estrogen for 15 years (I don't know the dose) and she developed a breast tumor; cancer. Small but she still had to have surgery & radiation. The Dr. said either too much or taking Estrogen for too long, feeds cancerous tumors to develop and grow. Please monitor yourself.
glad you have solutions for your issues but sorry you have had to resort to a statin. I say this because I was on a baby does of a statin for 2 years - and unfortunately - the side effect of brain fog and energy issues were very bad . . . I am now off of the statin - have also researched and have dealt with my high cholesterol and high LDL through other means . . .I pray that this solution works for you - we have to be our own advocates and I'm glad you're not afraid to ask questions and do what is necessary !!!! BTW - just came by from my long weekend in Paducah - and it is a very nice place to visit. . . . . . . do have a question - the large, older "mansions" (for lack of a better term) that are near the historic district - what is the story behind these homes? They are so different from everything else anywhere near them and they are beautiful !!! My quilter friend was thrilled to have a Hancocks to shop at . . . . . . . alot of fun !!!! Thank you.
I think the older we ladies get we automatically gain a little more weight. I'm 5'2 and weight 57 kilos. I think you look fabulous Renee for your age etc!💖
Thank you for sharing. I've been wondering how you've been doing. Glad to hear all is well. I also have 2 fibroids that caused very heavy bleeding. I had a DNC and that took care of that problem. I'm in my sixty's and use estradiol patch & cyclic progesterone. I'm good to go, except I hate the days when I have to take progesterone because it makes me bloated and moody just like before your period.
Thank you for documenting your journey! I’ve gained valuable insight from this and able to take what applies to my situation and make sound decisions. Thank you for sharing.
I watched your videos before mine. Had ut April 1st 2024 so 18 days ago. I had the robotic assisted laperoscopic. Kept my ovaries. I'm 38 and otherwise healthy. Worse part for me was the pain from feeling like I had to pee but not being able to for the first couple hours just because I didn't have enough urine in my body to actually go. I normally walk about 3 miles a day for exercise. Starting the day after surgery I started walking little bit more each day and I'm now back up to my 3 miles albeit about 10 minutes slower. Other than the gas pain I didn't have much other pain at my incisions. I'm probably doing too much already but I feel like I could be completely normal but I am following Dr's orders to not lift for at least 4 weeks but she eould prefer 6. Had my 2 week post op and she said all was fine and I see her one more time in June which is 12 weeks post op and I wonder if it's that far out just so that she can make sure that nothing has been damaged after you've had some time to be in your normal routine.
I had a abdominal hysterectomy at 23. At 26 I had my ovaries removed as they stopped working. Hormone therapy didn't work as I have heart problems. I've never had any maniposal systems at all. I'm 56 now. Still no problems beside my heart problems.
Thank you for the 1 year update! I had a laparoscopic hysterectomy Jan. 2, 2024. I did keep my ovaries. (I’m 65) I currently on Estradiol and progesterone. I was released from my Dr. 3/2/24. The only issue I have is I have extreme fatigue. Did you have this and if so how long did it last? I know everyone is different in their journey. 13:57
Glad you're on the other side of things now. I did not have any issue with fatigue other than for a few weeks after surgery. I've heard from many women who've experienced this...but fortunately I did not.
Thank you so much for sharing this valuable info! I have adenomyosis & was told I need hysterectomy. I’m 44 & Dr said I can wait until I can’t take it anymore. (I mainly have bloating /tummy looks prego but I try to hide it best I can). I’d like to not have to go with surgery. Dr said 20% chance that I could help my adenomyosis but still might need hysterectomy.
I had robotic hysterectomy 9/9. I had prolapse. I’m almost 66 years old. I’ve been done with menopause for years. I also was retaining urine in my bladder. Couldn’t empty. Never had much of an urge to urinate. Had uro dynamics test in April. Anyway, 6 days after surgery, I’ve been experiencing incontinence. Terrible. Had urine tested 9/20 and I have a UTI. On antibiotics since 9/22. Still urinating in my pads. Dr visit for follow up this coming Tuesday. Anyone else experience this problem?
I want to thank you for your series of hysterectomy videos. I just watched all of them and they were so very helpful THANK YOU SO SO MUCH! I am due for my total open abdominal on MAY 23rd so in 9 days and I am so nervous! I as well have a very large uterus full of fibroids. My uterus is the size of a 5 month pregnancy and I have large fibroids, many of them. I am nervous! I have the extremely heavy periods as well and am anemic from it :/
You will be ok I had exactly the same as you have. I'm in my 6 weeks after my hysterectomy just been at doctor today as healthy as ever. I had 5 fibriods
I dread menopause symptoms. I work with several woman who battle hot flashes and it seems so miserable. Not to mention it’s so obvious to everyone in the room while they are stripping down to tank tops while bright red. They talk about how hard their nights can be. 😢 I hope I am a lucky one and have low symptoms. Didn’t I pay my dues with early menstruation and heavy periods that kept me out of life at times? 😂
Thank you so much!! I'm having a hysterectomy at the end of September and reconstruction for bladder prolapse. I'm nervous, I haven't seen doctors often but knowing what to expect definitely helps. I know it may be different for me but forewarned is forearmed, right? I've begun estrogen suppositories to strengthen the tissue in that area. I do have so many questions for my doctor regarding post-surgery. But I can tell you that your videos have helped so much. I'm doing my research to be ready for most anything that comes up.
Hi, now years ago, my friend took hormone replacement pills……she had a stroke and it was because of the hormone pills, she was 48 years old. I also was on the pills and stopped them. I had them because of a fibroid tumor and it was gone or something I honestly was told it shrunk. To this day I don’t know just that I was ok. Now the fibroid was absolutely horrible. I was afraid of having a stroke because they were noticing women having strokes from them. This doesn’t sound like the same but I must say anything with hormones kind of scares me that they want you to take. I never had a hysterectomy and luckily I went into post menopausal naturally. I feel for everyone that has the problems with menopause and what they have had to go through.
Hey, Renee. I have really enjoyed your videos and especially the ones concerning your hysterectomy. Thank you for sharing your experience! I’m 53 and have gone 12 complete months without a period, and just had the full laparoscopic hysterectomy using the DaVinci robot…I’m 3 days post op. I had a fibroid just as large as my uterus, a prolapsed bladder as well as a couple of cysts on my right ovary.
Thank yu soo much yu have toch the most scariest point of Gm having surgery if suffer since 2014 from fibroods and endometriosis pain bleeding finaly decide to do it yu convince me thank you
Hello Renee, I was wondering when you were going to give us an update I am so glad you have. I had a radical hysterectomy in December of 23, and it has been the best thing I have ever done. I wish I would’ve had it done sooner. I am also on estradiol patch.075, my cholesterol has gone up which I will need to talk to my primary care provider after hearing you today, But all in all I feel great. My question for you today is what about your weight? Have you seen a weight gain or weight loss? And what are you doing about?
Hi Mary! Betting your cholesterol issue is same as mine. Your doctor should be able to help out. I'm taking 5mg of statin daily and it's brought my LDL down significantly. I've had no side effects from taking the medication. Since the surgery, I haven't gained any weight thankfully. Everything has remained steady. I do intermittent fasting 16:8 which I've done for a few years. Otherwise, I eat pretty much what I want. I am very active and get in some form of exercise every day (walking, yoga, pilates, swimming). That being said...I have noticed that my belly is more "round". I just think that's what happens in menopause because nothing I've done has made a difference. It's frustrating! Glad you're feeling well! 💕
@@WelcomeToMyCurls can’t believe you’re taking a ‘statin!’ Now, idk if you’re here to help these women who’ve subscribed or not bc you should research, really research statins…..but you’ll learn soon enough in 2-3 years on
My cholesterol and ldl went up after removal of my ovaries. For me it was due to saturated fat in my diet. I reduced saturated fat in my diet to 10-12 grams per day and that was enough to bring both down within 6 months without medication.
Just a heads up...if you start having leg cramps, it could be coming from the statin drug. Hopefully you are on a low enough dose that it won't affect you. I know of a couple of ladies that the statin drugs have affected in this way. Enjoy your vlogs alot and started watching when you adopted Pollux.
My friend pls go do research on taking statins. They are not good for women. Cholesterol is not the enemy. We need it. Pls pls go out and do research on cholesterol. Many good doctors out there on the subject. Most are against women taking statins. I say this in love.
This is so true, Renee.
Very true. Do all the digging to be fully informed. ❤
Yes agree 💯
Absolutely agree. Statins mess with your brain and memory loss. Dr Cywes channel has a lot of information on this.
I had a hysterectomy 27 years ago at age 29 and it is definitely a game changer!!! 🎉
Hello
I have just had a hysterectomy this week and watching your videos, has confirmed I have done the right thing for my body.
It’s hard to believe it’s been a year. I’m on HRT with estrogen patches, progesterone at night 200 mg and testosterone. ❤
@WELCOMETOMYCURLS Thank you Renee! 😊
@@stephaniehaile6541 Are your ovaries working normally after surgery?
Biopsy came back Benign,
Doctor didn't find any abnormalities in the uterus.
I had a total hysterectomy 9 months ago I was able to keep my ovaries I was 39 at the time.
I'm sorry to hear that! That's very unfortunate...hope there is something your doctor can do for you.

@@grachellenelson8341 what did you wind up deciding I am in the same boat as well due to fibroids.
@@Kiki5268 Hi! i saw your comment on my notification but lost it and i cant find right away.
I'm still on birth control pill but my provider changed to progesterone pill only, The brand is ERRIN- Norithindone .35 mg/pill for 28 days. I started July and a month after, my period only last for 7 days ( previous pill was still 14 days), following month September my period stayed 7-8 days,
October, Didn't get my period and up till this day Didn't get any period, Tomorrow Nov.
❤❤❤❤❤❤ &💚 7 Complete. God Bless You.. Thank you for sharing....
@@josephineudogu2518 you don’t when you keep your ovaries.

You are so welcome! I'm glad my videos have been helpful. Thank you for letting me know.

Decided to wing it & try life without HRT and it's been great for me! And as far as intimacy with my husband.... MUCH MUCH better for many reasons! Glad to find another hyster-sister Renee!!!

I have to go through several doctors to get the testosterone and it does have to be compounded, but it was definitely a conversation that I’m glad I had with my wonderful doctor and she was willing to prescribe it for me.🤗😁
Oh wow! That's fantastic!!!
Can u get it if u don’t have a uterus cause I had a complete hysterectomy and my energy levels are terrible…
❤ Debbie
You are so welcome
I don't know what you're doing, but you're looking great.
Awww thank you! 💗 I'm doing my usual thing and staying active. I'm feeling great!
Your channel continues to be inspiring! You are a must-watch for me. Thanks so much for sharing your journey! (BTW...cute sweater set!!!)
I found you through your hysterectomy videos. I had mine last year at 48 and followed a lot of your advice for post-care! I feel great since mine too and had no issues. Thank you!
My doctor put me on a statin because the issues run In my family genetics I’m certain she is wise to help me I’m this way ❤
Hi Renee, my hysterectomy is next week and you have made me feel so much better about the whole thing. Thank you for sharing your whole journey. ☺
You are so welcome! Best wishes to you 🌺
Thankyou for sharing. I'm scheduled to have a hysterectomy in June. Your videos are helping to relieve my worries.
You are so welcome!
I am 43yrs old with 11cm Fibroids, will be going thru Hysterectomy shortly,One question,do you still have to care when you lift/move heavy things?
Your videos are so so helpful, thank you
Thank you for this video! ❤
I’m having a hysterectomy in a few weeks and I’m also on medication that raises my cholesterol so I was hoping you would say your cholesterol went down after a hysterectomy.
Such a great update. I'm glad everything is going well. I remember when you first shared your journey. Thanks for sharing 🤗🤗
Thank you so much!
The pain and the problems I had justified a hysterectomy. I feel better in that way. However, the procedure aged me greatly.
Probably totally different if u didn’t have to go thru a radical hysterectomy..
Oh wow! So we had the exact opposite happen. Interesting! Hey neighbor 💕
@@WelcomeToMyCurls I should've mentioned that I'm on the highest dose of 1 mg estradiol patch. Definitely helped my cholesterol and I just ordered the Niceful dressings, too. Thank you for recommendation :)
@@rachealparrish9266what are Niceful dressings?
@@rachealparrish9266do u find 13:23 being on that high dose patch has helped with weight gain? I just can’t seem to lose any weight since my surgery 🫤
@@rachealparrish9266have u lost or gained weight since on that higher dose of patch? I’m struggling to keep my weight down…
Thank you for sharing. I have scheduled an appointment with a menopause specialist and your comments have provided several questions I need to ask …especially about HRT patches. Also, as a curly headed person great insight into the before and after differences. Many thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Hysterectomy at 30 due to endometriosis. My friends have had as well. Best thing we all feel we ever did. Patches hurt my skin so I take easy pill every morning . Best ever. 🌸🌸
Thanks Renee! I just started HRT so I hope this helps my symptoms of menopause that I have been struggling with for a while! Fingers crossed.
But we’re 😊u on the patch or the old HRT pills they use to give out?did u gain or loss weight with out the HRT?
Thanks 🙏🏾 for the recap, you are an amazing woman ❤
I appreciate that 💕
Renee, you can and should go higher with your estrogen. You are on a low dose and you will not need the statin. You need at least .50 mg to get the benefit for your bones.
I’m on the .50 and just bumped up to the .75 my cholesterol been border line…
I also went through a surgical menopause 18 years ago. All I can say, I was very fortunate that I didn't have any bad issues because I'm not able to do HRT to keep things in check. My only concern is osteoporosis that my doctor is monitoring.
You need to use progesterone with the estradiol patch. That will handle your cholesterol.
I also had one 3 months ago. Recovered very fast and my body does feel different. No more periods.
She didn't explain why it would be harmful other than to say that I only need what my body needs.
Thank you.
How are you handling your high cholesterol? If you don’t mind sharing 😊
Glad you're feeling well. I don't have to take progesterone because my uterus was removed.
Thank you for documenting your journey! I’ve gained valuable insight from this and able to take what applies to my situation and make sound decisions. Thank you for sharing.
Now that summer is right around the corner, I thank you for the suggestion of the waterproof patch! They’re in my cart ❤
I’m 46 and having one on weds yours videos were a big help thank you ❤
Thank you so much for sharing this valuable info!
My cholesterol levels went high as well. Estantin? I’d have to talk with my doctor. Thanks for your videos 🥹
I will have to go back and take time to listen to entire video, I just clicked on it, because I'm Loving your HAIR!!!!!!!!!
Thanks so much!!
I went on the patch, I feel great.
That's fantastic!
Oh I hope you are feeling well today! You've still got a few weeks ahead before you'll feel like you've turned the corner. Best of luck to you 🌷
Thank yu soo much yu have toch the most scariest point of Gm having surgery if suffer since 2014 from fibroods and endometriosis pain bleeding finaly decide to do it yu convince me thank you
Hello Renee, I was wondering when you were going to give us an update I am so glad you have.
@@WelcomeToMyCurls thank you for the info and update. I will be starting to be more active in my exercise! Thank you Renee have a GREAT WEEKEND 🏖️!
@@WelcomeToMyCurls can’t believe you’re taking a ‘statin!’ Now, idk if you’re here to help these women who’ve subscribed or not bc you should research, really research statins…..but you’ll learn soon enough in 2-3 years on
Even without ovaries taking progesterone could help with sleep…it did for me.
No Don't take statin! Do research... What's important is tryclycerides and hdl. Not LDL. Look up dr ovida, cardiologist
