I love that little moment. Where Lilo shows the other girls that Strange homemade doll. Only for the girls to leave. She throws the doll away, but almost immediately Retrieves it and hugs it. Its both adorable and sad at the same time.
Yes! Such a tender moment, especially with the sad little piano melody at the end. At that age, Lilo is probably taking the girls' rejection of the doll as a rejection of her - she *knows* they don't really like her, but she's so lonely that she continues to pretend they're her "friends" anyway, and by the same token, she can't abandon the doll because she sympathises with it. It's not like the other dolls, and she's not like the other girls.
And not only that, but Lilo is also bullied by her peers. I also believe that she has undiagnosed autism/Asperger's, which means it's more difficult for Lilo to understand things like social and learning aspects because her brain is made differently. The person who posted this clearly did not watch the movie at all, if they're saying such horrible things about Lilo.
@@oooh19 I did a little digging and analysis on Lilo's quirks and I think it makes a lot of sense! Also, I'm autistic and Lilo was a very relatable character for me when I was growing up, and she still is
Nani is my homegirl. Something you left out is if you look at the trophies in Nani's room, was a champion surfer. She gave that up to take care of Lilo. (you might have mentioned it, commenting halfway through the video)
I remember that completely went over my head when i was watching it as a kid. I didn't understand why it was such a big deal that the guy came and visited at the start of the movie or why lilo was taken away. However, as I grew older I started to understand what actually is happening in the movie. And after I got my own little sister I really started to appreciate what Nani did for Lilo. I have also looked at my own life and realized my parents had a lot of struggles and sacrifices i was never aware of as a kid. Kids and adults really see the world from two different places.
As a kid I couldn't understand what my parents did for me (or better say, how hard it was for them), as a child it was just "mum stays home and relax, dad goes outside and say some pages for his students to do and earn money, being an adult is so easy". Damn, I even believed that you could earn thousands in just one day of work; children aren't dumb, is just that they don't know a lot about how the world works.
Pyro Flare Yes. She’s only 6/7 years old. Hence why she acted the way she did. Why? What age did you think she was? I’m not being rude, I’m just curious.
how tf is lilo and stitch not racially accurate? that's my only damn question. seriously how? Aloha oi it's self was a song that was deep in Hawaii's culture long before this movie was made. Not to mention how realistically lilo as a native reacts to tourists being just a child.
Not to mention when Nani calls out her ex-boss for how fake the luau dinner-place was because, well, what we think of as a "luau" is just what they do for tourism. Its not the actual cultural is, if I remember correctly. Not to mention, the voice actors for Nani and David (Tia Carrere and Jason Scott Lee) literally worked and rewrote their lines so they would be culturally appropriate. And there is a theory that Lilo and Nani were named after the last queen of Hawaii, Lili'uokalani-- who wrote the song "Aloha Oe."
@@littlearies3862 Aloha Oe was also written about the annexation of Hawaii by the US. She sang the song about the removal of the homeland by the US to her sister who was getting removed by the US government the next day.
Speaking of how much racial equality Disney movies have; I don’t care what anyone says, I think the Disney Renaissance film Aladdin is more racially accurate than the politically correct live-action Disney remakes including its own!
I took it more as inventing the weather thing after and feeding him to prevent what happened to her parents from happening to anyone else. That's cute as fuck honestly
@@cammo353 Plot twist: Pudge is secretly related to Stitch. He was the first sent to Earth and now has taken on a deity role. Or some mythology mess I haven't concocted yet.
Also, when Cobra was getting ready to take Lilo away from Nani, although it probably made Cobra sick to his stomach to be that guy, I think she finally understood Nani's fear of losing Lilo... I think Lilo finally understood what Nani was trying to say by singing, "Aloha Oi" to her the night before. Nani was trying to find out a way to say goodbye if it came down to that, without directly saying goodbye... but, I don't think Lilo caught it till that moment. If you wanna know why I think she couldn't tell Lilo "goodbye for now" directly, think of how much of a mental and emotional scar her parents' death left on Lilo; think of how deeply ingrained that pain is. Now, imagine if Nani just straight up said, "Lilo... people are coming to take you away from me." That would've done worse damage to the already fractured psyche, losing the only family she has left.
Aloha Oe was also written by the last Queen of Hawaii about the annexation of Hawaii by the US government. She sang the song about the taking of Hawaii by the US to her sister who was about to be taken by the US government and put into foster care. And yet that chick has the audacity to say the creators did not try to understand Hawaii and its culture.
@@renoloverxoxo That's certainly news to me, but it would explain why the song sounded so somber. Anyway, she has no idea of what the fuck she's talking about.
Yeah that entire scene with Bubbles was amazing! Just... you can see how much it pains him to split this family apart, but he knows he has to do his job, and he believes that Lilo isn't safe with Nani. This movie is just so amazing; the characters are so complex and realistic!
Studio Ghibli makes very believable child characters too. They cry, they throw tantrums, they show the rough and tumble behaviour and they act like normal siblings instead of the idealised bffs who’ve never had an argument in their life
@@animeotaku307 I knew they sounded familiar! But I just assume at first that Chihiro was voice by a different child and like many other child voice actors, they use their natural child voice to voice child character. It's cool to know that the two are voiced by the same VA.
It seems to me that squigglydigg is one of those people who has never been through a hardship, or just never experienced a lapse in confidence which can cause people to lash out. Squigglydigg is extremely arrogant and it’s apparent in most of her tweets. You did a really good job of countering her ridiculous take on this movie. 👍🏻
Elena Cienfuegos you can continue to like her, this is just my personal opinion, or at least separate the artist from the work and continue to like that instead of her.
@Jalene Evangelista Same. She's a good artist and singer. I just wish she could understand how the movie is alright. I love the movie and it's fine if she doesn't like the movie, I just don't think it's okay to attack the movie for what it seemed pretty harmless.
Nononono you can't separate the art from the artist, because you will be supporting the artist too. There are tons of other skilled people who arent racist fucks, but still supporting and liking those racist creators is harmful!
That reminds me of a post that a Tumblr user made telling people to "Stop whitewashing black people, stop coloring their palms a lighter shade" Local Tumblr user reveals they've never seen a black person before.
@@ange8295 Yeah, just make a new character. Doesn't take much effort. I'd even say it takes more effort to change an old character because you have to rewrite a lot of things.
Jeiku Furame I don’t know why racebending came into the mix, but oh boy. I’d say on occasion maybe it’s justified (for example, Hetalia has a character representing the Seychelles. The thing is she doesn’t look black so much as she just looks kinda tan, and I support people coloring her so she actually looks black), but usually it’s just... Augh. I don’t even think meaningful redesign attempts are that bad per se (like maybe a character just has an unoriginal or unfitting design *coughSaberfacesintheFateseriescough* ), but racebending often has this air of haughty arrogance around it, plus it’s just so shallow and unoriginal. Actually make a person of color or at least draw a pre-existing one if you want to so much, people. Maybe draw more Black Panther instead of Iron Man, or make anime characters more Japanese-looking, it ain’t that hard.
What I don't get is why is Lilo considered a brat but in that whole post didn't mention Myrtle's behavior I mean she's the worst I remember at one point either in the movie the sequels or the show Myrtle said to Lilo to her face she'll never be as good as her dead mother and Lilo kick her ass. I mean Lilo can be annoying but she's 6 most kids are annoying but never once I wanted to kill a child until I saw Myrtle. But then again I'm not surprised considering the person who Tweeted that is incredibly racist would only think Lilo is a brat
Huh... you think they would've pointed that out in the post, what with being so deadset on making a young'un out to be a bitch for the sake of being a bitch. Also, what Lilo did was quite justified considering Myrtle walked up and started talking shit to Lilo and bringing her dead parents into it. You don't do that, if you have any decency at all, you just don't bring the dead into it and belittle them.
Probably because Myrtle's white...I'm not saying that to be reaching, literally it's come out that SquigglyDigg is racist. I could be totally wrong though.
@@Cell287 like I said, that could be wrong. I saw it on tumblr that she was reblogging stuff that supported the idea of separating minorities from their children. She also apparently follows Trump on twitter so that's very telling. But again, I could be wrong
Children argue, throw fits, get angry over things that don’t matter. They can be annoying. It’s the duty of adults to teach them how to grow out of being immature. Kids, as many therapists will tell you, are inherently selfish and shortsighted. Expecting a kid to be a perfect angel when dealing with grief is incredibly naive. Also, is the post implying that LILO is the abusive one?? LILO, the literal six year old? I thought it was obvious that Nani and Lilo love each other lol
Lilo was forced by the corrupt system to become a selfish jerk to survive Myrtle's abuse. Fortunately, when Stitch glitches out and scratches Lilo right before Lilo performs her hula, Lilo finally realizes that she's been acting like a selfish jerk towards Stitch, and ditches the hula to prevent Stitch from running away and killing himself!
With that said, she sounds like the person who would scream “YOU GLORIFY ABUSE AS MUCH AS LILO & STITCH AND OTHER SO-CALLED DISNEY ANIMATION “CLASSICS” OF THE DISNEY RENAISSANCE!!!!!” if she hears one bad thing about Frozen 1. Oh hey, Thiti2000! Never thought I’d see you again!!!!
Facts...people forget lilo was called crazy...she didn't just punch for no reason or because she felt left out...she lost her parents...I would snap too if someone said that about me when I feel like feeding this fish can save others from a similar fate since at 6 I am naive enough to believe that I caused this accident due to not feeding him that day we went for a drive and it began to rain which explains why I am late
Listen man, this person clearly doesn't understand kids. When I was in kindergarten, my baby brother was dying in the hospital. One of my friends was mad at me for some reason and told me he hoped my little brother didn't make it. He was spoiled, entitled, and was seen as the bigger kid everyone was scared of in the school. I got really pissed, and reacted by physically harming him. I punched him, bit him, and kicked him. We both acted irrationally to a situation that was a little traumatizing. That's what kids do. Honestly the only reason why I got away with beating the shit out of him was because what he said was so terrible. (Don't worry, he has become a better person now. This was a long time ago and we've put it behind us. We were just kids after all. I just wanna make that clear in case anyone sees this and gets pissed off at him.)
@@thyqueen3642 He sadly passed away back in 2011. He had a strand of meningitis that didn't have a vaccine or cure at the time, so there was nothing we could do. He's in a better place now.
To expect Lilo to automatically understand what Nani sacrifices for her is to expect her not to be a real kid. Kids don't have the capacity to comprehend things like that. They don't know why their parents go to work every day, and it's kind of hard to explain it to them. That's something adults kind of try not to tell their kids, because they're incredibly sensitive. They might think that their parents suffer because it's they're fault. I find it funny how they don't complain that Nani doesn't explain this to her instead of lashing out at her, because at the end of the day we feel sorry for Nani, but whether the person who made that tweet likes it or not, she's the adult. Also, be easy on kids everyone. You've been a kid once, too. You, too, were once a kid who didn't understand the world, and you probably had temper tantrums just like any of the kids on TH-cam did. Your episode just wasn't taped for all to see. This isn't the kid's best moment, so I don't think it's even fair to use this and say "Wow, this kid must be a spoiled brat!" This is their parents taping them at their worst.
@marianne mccrank Same. I'm in the boat that believes that kids can handle more than people think (I mean how did we as a society get this far if that WASN'T true?) but I really don't see the goon in crud like that. I'm also convinced that at least some parents on the internet have a hard time distinguishing a baby from a dog. I'm over exaggerating, of course, but all these "test" videos where they ask their kids not to eat a giant bowl of candies right in front of them while they leave the room is a little too similar to a certain dog test that's going around.
I mean, when I was lilo's age I hit my mom with a pair of used underpants because I didn't want my hair brushing because it hurts. I didn't understand that the tangled cloud on the back of my head would only get worse if I left it, all I knew was that getting it brushed hurt. I did that relatively often, with different things, such as refusing to put on my school uniform coz I didn't want to go, or refusing to get out of my favourite dress at bath time. I dont really get how people can have similar experiences all through their childhood then go, watch lilo and stitch and have a go at lilo, when all she does is act like a little kid. I didn't really like the spin off series Stitch! Because the girl in that just didn't act like her own age, and it felt kind of weird.
@@bethanybrookes8479 I agree with you 100%. And yes, trying to make shows where a random kid replaces Lilo was a dumb idea. Stitch without Lilo is like Jerry without Tom. Sure, you can get one solid episode of fun, but an entire series? I don't think so.
Those kind of parents who post videos of their children throwing tantrums are the worst and deserve a special place in hell. If that happened to me as kid, I would be really pissed off and hurt.

This person who wrote that post that Lilo is abused and Lilo and Stitch is the "worst movie ever" DOES realize that Lilo is a CHILD, right? A child who has lost not one...but BOTH her parents. She's being raised by her sister and child services is threatening to remove her. The other children don't like her and think she's weird. But she's just a little girl. The fight that she's referring to where Lilo storms off to her room occurs just after she has a fight with the other girl in her dance class and then the other girls reject her offer to play with them and Mr. Bubbles comes to do a welfare check (which DOESN'T go well) and says Nani has 3 days to change his mind about removing her. So of course emotions would be running high and Nani would be frustrated. But notice two things....in the heat of the fight, there is a moment that focuses on Lilo's face and it looks like she has tears in her eyes. She really DOES love her sister and she doesn't want to be taken away and she obviously feels bad about what happened.. Secondly, when they both calm down, Nani comes to Lilo's room and comforts her and they make up. THAT'S WHAT SISTERS DO. They fight sometimes and 10 minutes later, they are best friends again. Nani is not Lilo's Mom. But she's doing her best to succeed in a very difficult and stressful situation. She had to make huge sacrifices after her parents died and she's having to raise her sister as a single parent. And aliens invading doesn't really help make things better. But again....she's trying.
I will never forget when Lilo told Nani, "I like you better as a sister than a mom." Lilo probably didn't understand the gravity of the statement at the time, but it says a lot about how Nani was all too suddenly forced take on two roles towards Lilo, and that they were both struggling to cope with it.
I have actually been diagnosed with several sequels from childhood abuse, and one hugely important thing I learned is: It actually IS the parents's job to clean up after you when you are a child. It IS their job to take care of you, and deal with you, and your emotions, so they may help you learn how to handle them when you grow up. It IS their job to listen to you, and to ask you about your life, and to allow you to express yourself, even when you don't make sense, and handle your ups and downs. That doesn't mean you are being ungrateful, it means you are being a child. If you're not allowed to be a child when you are one, if you're expected to be an adult before you are ready to be one, then there's something wrong in this dynamic, and you will grow up and carry those unresolved issues into adulthood. Expecting a child to have the emotional maturity and thought processes of an adult is called neglect. And THAT is actual abuse, not a grieving child behaving like a grieving child.
Well, to people who have been around kids, it is very aggravating when they throw a fit, or don't do as asked, or are rude, or inconsiderate, or selfish, or get themselves into trouble, or try to give you a heart attack. We've all been around a little kid, either by blood, or work, or just observing and said to ourselves: What a brat! Lol

Also I hate it when people use the criticism, "Oh it's cliche.". I mean, every movie in the world has at least one cliche or trope. And a lot of these "cliche" events that happen in movies also happen in real life often, so it's only natural that these events may occur often in movies too. That's how some of these movie cliches happen in the first place. She acts like no one has ever lost their parents in a car crash before. It happens a lot in real life, so why is it so weird that it's happening in a few movies?
As someone who was actually in a car crash with my mom. It left me with nightmares for weeks. I was terrified that I was gonna wake up to the house on fire or a murderer in the house. Everything that seemed so impossible before was suddenly an actual possibility now to me. Now imagining a little girl hearing that her parents died in a way she thought couldn’t happen is scarring. Every reaction she had was understandable especially because I was a teenager that had already developed some healthy coping mechanism and she was a kid that was didn’t get the chance to develop them beforehand.
Okay, so suddenly this video is getting a lot of attention and love as of the last few days so I just wanna say a couple things. First off, I am aware that SquigglyDigg is a girl now, I never heard of her before the Tweet so that's my bad. Secondly, I've also heard that she's apparently a racist on Tumblr too? Again, I never heard of her before the Tweet went viral so yeah lol. Doesn't matter anyway. I wanted to simply focus on the movie itself and her statement. What she said on Tumblr has pretty much nothing to do with this as far as I know. With that being said though, FUCK RACISM!!! FUCK IT IN THE ASS!!! I never really cared for SquigglyDigg because of how unprofessional she comes across in some posts. Being silly and quirky is fine, but actively cussing out or sassing your fans because they said something you didn't like is not okay. She was ESPECIALLY unprofessional in a situation that involved one of my friends. TL;DR, my friend drew some lewd art of a character in a style that looked *SLIGHTLY* similar to her portrayal of the same character, and she went mental. When they confronted her after some of her fans harassed them, she acted all aloof as if her making a vague-post about it and sending her band of fans after my friend was no problem at all. After that I decided I disliked her because of how badly she handled that situation. It was after her horrible take on Lilo and Stitch, basically degrading a child for acting like a child, and saying that shit about "not properly representing Hawaiian culture"....that I had just about enough. That was the last straw, and "disliking" turned into "Wow I cannot stand her"...I know Lilo is fictional, but the situation Lilo is in is all too real, and SquigglyDigg had the *nerve* to call Lilo a brat for acting out after dealing with trauma. You'd think someone with a professional animating job at Nickelodeon would act more professional online...but apparently not. It's fine if she doesn't like the movie, it's just a movie after all, but her takes on it were absolutely horrible, and kind of made her look like someone who hates children for acting like children. --- *EDIT, 12/5/2022* I want to address that I am fully aware that a person cannot control the actions of their fanbase. When I wrote this comment two years ago, I phrased it as if she intentionally sent her fans after my friend, which is not the case. However, that being said, someone with a fanbase, no matter how big or small, should be aware that when they make a vague-post complaining about someone doing something they don't like, their fans will most likely try to harass the person they're complaining about. Dismissing it as "Not my fault, I can't control them!" isn't the way to act. Yes, she can't control them, but maybe you should have a little more sympathy for someone who is being harassed on YOUR behalf instead of dismissing it. No she didn't send them, but they harassed my friend to defend her, and she brushed it off when my friend tried to tell her how they were affected. TLDR: I know she can't control her fanbase. I shouldn't have phrased it as if she sent people after my friend. However, she still acted irresponsibly and that's one of the reasons I don't like her. I have a LAUNDRY LIST of reasons why I don't like her.
Hard to have respect for someone who's first instinct to seeing someone draw in a style similar to hers is to vague post about it publicly before getting answers.

SquigglyDigg's 'hot take' was utter garbage. I've been a long time fan of this franchise and when I saw that trending on Twitter I was in disbelief. The movie changed my life in so many positive ways I still cannot fathom somebody would act this disrespectful about it. SquigglyDigg has no concept of what the term 'child' actually means because with this take she clearly has never been around children or she's never experienced trauma for herself let alone the underlying damage it does. Lilo has her quirks because it's her way of coping. Lilo and Stitch did well because it was a realistic story that people can relate to and if you look into the deleted scenes, you can see why. Especially Lilo's bedtime story as her way of apologising to Nani for misbehaving. In Stitch has a Glitch it's similar, with Lilo later realising the error of her ways.
The corrupt system made Lilo think that Stitch is a violent crazy monster to keep Myrtle's family in power! Lilo never wanted to hurt Stitch. Myrtle's constant bullying, and Lilo's hula teacher blaming Lilo for losing control of her anger and beating Myrtle up, drove Lilo to insanity!
I would like to come in and say something. I relate to Lilo. That scene? In the beginning? The one with the screaming, Lilo being grounded, and the pillows? That was me and my mom when I was a child I'm on the autism spectrum. I struggled. I struggled to understand the world around me, other people. I acted out, I was, in a word, a brat. I was a major brat. Going by Squiggly's logic, I, an autistic child struggling to understand the world around them, and not being understood by far too many of the people around me, like teachers, peers. Bullied by both. By SquigglyDigg's logic, that I lashed out makes me a horrible person. As if a child, especially an AUTISTIC one, has the capacity to understand at that age, without being taught in a manner they can learn from. And theres a theory out there that fits really well that says Lilo could be autistic, so it just makes me relate even more to the character.
Man As an autistic person treated like shit by another, overly aggressive autistic person whom everyone protected while I was told to be an adult for my feelings I really don't know whether to feel validated or offended.
@@likira111 Were there overly aggressive or did you tone police them because sometimes Autistic people get accused of sounding aggressive when they aren't

Meanwhile my sister brings a small chocolate to school and the teachers confiscate it because "chocolate is against the rules and it wouldn't be fair to the other students" and when she calmly protested referring to other students getting exceptions she had her money points deducted for not being mature (You got money for good behaviour which tantrum boy did NOT get deducted). Sorry but as far as I'm concerned maybe the reason people see us this way is because this behaviour is encouraged by rewarding temper tantrums (Yes I am calling it a tantrum, meltdowns occur because of sensory overload there's a difference between too much of everything happening at once with no small release that your brain crashes and not getting your way, he was in a calm quiet environment with people speaking to him in the same tone you use on a frightened pet) and now because of these spoiled little brats near everyone says autism is just an excuse, even to the truly well meaning ones in a moment of weakness. A month late but let me say this I am straight up worried, like how is OP going to reacted when they have kids....are they going to blame their kid for being a kid? IDK
Literally, they spell it out in the movie! Lilo doesn't even understand that she might actually be taken away from Nani until she's in Cobra Bubbles car. There's a world of difference between kids being told something and them understanding it. Lilo is truly a masterpiece of character-work and Twitter hot-takes will never take that away from her.
Are we forgetting that it's a magical fish deity that controls the weather and by feeding him she is aiming to prevent the death of her sister! If she doesn't feed Pudge, it's her impression that Nani will die!
She also continues to feed pudge in the TV series! It's kinda sad cause that implies that even with all the new happiness in her life, she still feels she'll lose everything if she doesn't feed him still :(
Notice how Nani does not drive and how cobra almost hit her with his car..ironic considering their parents death...no wonder why she got do angry and kicked it despite running in front of it not looking ...something I just noticed plus it was more recent then I thought when they lost them
Anyone who thinks Lilo is a bad representation of a kid has never met one. It's also a pretty accurate representation of sisters. Legit have licked my sister's arm to get out of her chokeholds. Edit: waitwaitwait she thinks it's inaccurate to Hawaiian culture? Does she not understand the symbolism of Aloha 'Oe and that entire scene? It's literally the song written by the last queen of Hawaii mourning the loss of her country to the US government being sung by a Hawaiian woman to her sister who is getting ready to be taken by the US government.
Stitch Has a Glitch perfectly captured how dangerous systematic racism is! Myrtle's constant abuse turned LIlo and Stitch against each other! Lilo never wanted to hurt Stitch! The corrupt system made Lilo think that she's a violent crazy monster that needs to restrained!
*The post:* "No one holds Lilo responsible for how she acts and she never even appreciates everything that Nani does for her!" *Me:* "...She's... She's six."
Didn't Lilo get scratched by Stitch when she selfishly neglected him for the competition? Lilo never wanted to hurt anyone! The corrupt system drove Lilo to insanity to keep Myrtle's family in power!
I didn't even know people were saying that this movie "glorifies" abuse. How do you even come to that conclusion? Sure, there's the fight between Nani and Lilo after they meet Mr. Bubbles, but you're talking about siblings- I'll repeat that, *siblings* -who are eighteen and six years old. Siblings fight all the time!
Shit My brother and I are in our 20s and we still fight sometimes. My mom had 7 brothers and sisters and almost every other month one sibling is mad at another for some dumb reason. And they’re all in their 60s-50s. It’s normal and not abuse.
Apparently SquigglyDiggs think guardians having to be responsible to the kids they're in charge of, means that the children are abusive brats if they don't act like grateful sweet little angels 24/7. I'm guessing SquigglyDiggs is the type of Tumblr user who thinks children should be banned from public places, and who would complain when they had to babysit their younger siblings for a couple of hours

Of course not, I love em to hell and back and I know they feel the same, bloody hell, feels like this Squiggly person doesn't know what having a sibling means.
the whole "relating to a fictional character" and seeing the comments of how someone like Lilo helped those people through similar hardships... is the reason why I heavily respect fictional characters and is likely the reason why Im in to making fictional characters, people really dont see how powerful media can be to me a fictional character isnt just for entertainment, it's like listening to another real life person, listening to someone else's hardships, how they overcame those hardships and what we can learn from them to help ourselves
Lilo acting like she does with Nani is also very sibling like, I mean, Nani is not her mom, she's her sister. Pretty sure everyone can tell you that your relationship with your mom is not the same as with a sibling. Among all the other things Nani and Lilo are going through there's also this sudden shift in dynamics where Nani is not only Lilo's sister but also guardian now, is something they both have to navigate through but is obviously harder for Lilo as she's only 6.
I can imagine this guy having kids and screaming at his three year old that they don't appreciate his sacrifices for them. Also Nani was probably going a surfer but had to let it go due to losing her parents. Best character
Hey, Raisor... the fact that people turning their back on, leaving, or dying on Lilo doesn't even phase her anymore, I honestly found that rather shocking. No kid should have to deal with loss so severe, that they treat it so flippantly. But, considering how jilted Lilo was before Stitch walked into her life and knowing her backstory... is that really surprising?
Lilo is a little girl, just starting school. Think back to your first day of school. Now picture coming home and being told that your parents are dead. That you will NEVER SEE YOUR MOMMY AND DADDY AGAIN. Now, keeping that in mind, imagine that you had a good luck charm, something that made you feel safe. And now picture someone seeing it, and saying that you were an idiot for feeling safe, implying that it didn’t keep you safe, and that any moment, anyone in your family could die, leaving you all alone. Would you - at six years of age - just accept it? Would you push them over? Would you yell at them? Now, picture having no friends. How lonely you would be. And the only people your age hate you. Picture trying to apologise, because you are ONLY SIX, and lost your temper. And the only kids your age basically saying they didn’t forgive you. That they all thought you were a weirdo. You have no friends except a single doll. You’re bullied by the only other people your age, and you can’t even talk to your parents because they’re both gone forever. That’s what Lilo is going through. ===== ===== Also... (and keep in mind that not all autistic people are the same) Honestly, as an autistic person growing up, I had a lot of the behavioural issues Lilo does, even long after most kids grow out of it; even now, as an adult, I still struggle sometimes. And I can assure you that - from my own experience at least - we (and by extension Lilo) aren’t stupid. We know that it’s wrong to act up, and we feel terrible after losing our temper. But here’s the thing: it’s not something we can control. At that age, a child’s impulse control isn’t fully developed. They struggle to see other people’s points of view, and if they’re wronged (in their eyes at least), then - at the time - all they can see is that they’re upset, and the person they’re angry at is the cause of it. So they act out. In an autistic person, your pre-frontal cortex (that’s the part in your brain that controls things like impulse control, and understanding consequences, among other things. That’s the part that gets messed up when you drink alcohol, and why people do stupid stuff when they’re drunk) never fully forms. Knowing what is and isn’t okay doesn’t come as second nature to me, it’s learned. Of course I know that hitting is wrong, and I could get in a lot of trouble for it, not to mention that it’ll hurt the other person (which I don’t wanna do), and they’ll be less likely to want to spend time with me; they may even be scared for their own safety. But - just like anyone else - if I get stressed, I don’t think. All I’ll know at the time is “I feel unsafe, and I must either leave in any way possible, or fight to protect myself”. And if the person in front of me is the cause of feeling my strong emotions, all I’ll know is that I need to stop that person from making me feel that way. So I guess in a long roundabout way, that’s my way of saying I do understand Lilo. (Just to add - I don’t like upsetting others. Just like Lilo. I don’t like being different; I want to be normal. But it’s hard to do that when my brain isn’t fully formed like most people’s are) I hope my rambling makes sense.
I'm autistic too. I'm weird but I'm proud of it. And yes, I still do things that I don't know is wrong even if I'm 21. A lot of people say "You need to grow up" and "You're such a child!" I apologize and tell them that I didn't mean to upset them. I wish I acted more mature but it's so hard. I lose my temper quite easily. A lot of people hate me for my weird opinions and shit but I don't care. I like being weird.🤷🏿♀️
This pretty summarizes me, except for the fact that instead of being physically violent, I yell a lot and say hurtful things to the ones I love when I’m too stressed to cope. It’s very frustrating to deal with because I don’t like making the people I love upset.
I don’t know whether I’m over thinking as I haven’t really seen the movie in a while. With Lilo talking about the fish that controls the weather and that she has to feed him, maybe her parents got into a weather related accident? Her way of coping is to try to work (keep the fish fed) so that it doesn’t happen again and hurt someone else - whether that be someone she knows or doesn’t. I think she may be trying to prevent anyone else going through the pain she is. Edit: so I watched the movie and I was correct, her parents went out driving when it was raining which means they most likely slipped off the road. So it would make sense that she would try to appease the weather fish to cope :)
Nani deserves respect just for the fact that she puts on a brave face and tries to meet the expectations of other people despite denying herself her own life. She knows she’s not emotionally available for a relationship with David despite both of them knowing she’s attracted to him. She’s trying to be the mother and sister Lilo needs, and desperately wants to show Cobra she can be a reliable guardian for Lilo, despite Lilo’s eccentricities and the alien interference in their lives. She shows incredible patience in trying to help Lilo and get Lilo to help her back, trying to stay the sister and avoid playing the Mom card. So many things about growing up she has to deal with in the worst of circumstances, finishing school, starting a relationship, getting a job, raising a kid, keeping house etc, and she keeps up that brave face until she hits breaking point.
All the teacher faces when she says “Pudge controls the weather” are heartbreaking after you learn about how she lost her parents. It’s likely all the adults know what happened and that’s why they exchange those looks. This movie was too good
ANOTHER THING, when Lilo and Nani were reconciling after their fight, Lilo told her "I like you better as a sister than a mom." Lilo at the beginning of the movie, not only lost both her parents in one night but in some way also her older sister. Nani, had to suddenly be the caretaker of Lilo and grow up so faster, holding down a job and raising her sister. She couldn't just be Lilo's older sister but also had to be her guardian. Nani is struggling and trying to make this new situation work and Lilo being a young kid, only sees her big sister acting so different than before and it doesn't feel normal to her. So that can also lead to some of Lilo's tantrums or struggles with Nani at the beginning.
I relate to lilo and stitch and it’s honestly one of my favorite movies. When I was in the age range of 5-7 (somewhere there. It’s repressed stuff for a reason) I had to call the cops on my dad and hide with my little brother in my room. I spent a year or two just begging god to give me my family back, save my father from his sins, and begging for forgiveness and protection. My father was a Latino catholic and my family on moms side was Christian/Lutheran. To my childish mind that god was punishing us and putting us through a trial, so it made sense to try and appease that god. Just like Lilo with Pudge. Disney did such an amazing job writing Lilo and Stitch and showing a child dealing with trauma. Like, I really wish they had more children like this.
When I was a little kid, a ton of adults like Squiggly were in my life. I had experienced a traumatic experience (that of which I will not mention) and it caused me to have a lot of mood swings. My teachers (who are supposed to be supportive and caring figures) constantly told me to "stop being a crybaby" and to "grow up." It was the same thing with my parents. Reminder: I was a *child* who was trying to process what the hell just happened. It's because of said adults that I grew up way too fast, and I didn't get to be a kid like most others did. I adored Lilo because of the way I could connect to her, and saying that she was an ungrateful brat was honestly pretty damaging. Not just to me, but plenty of other people who could project themselves onto Lilo.
The thing with Pudge is even more sad: Lilo forgot 1 time to feed her fish Pudge, and coincidentally, THAT's the day bad weather appeared and their parents got killed in a car crash due to this. She literally LINKS Pudge not being taken care of ... with bad luck. That's why she was so offended when Myrthle called her crazy.
My dad was killed by a drunk driver when I was 5 this is one of the reasons I connect with this film even though I was a teen when it originally came out This movie doesnt glorify abuse it glorifies family
The only thing I like from Dig is that Un Poco Loco covet she did, that’s it. I used to like her art a lot but the way she started acting just began souring it for me
Can we talk about the realism in this movie? Yes, there are literal aliens but Nani has the most natural yet thick body I think I've ever seen Disney make. That goes for Lilo to. You can actually tell she's a child because of how she's designed(little kids are usually chubby because baby fat, blah blah blah)
Their art style specifically had a direction that 'everything must be bubbly.' Even Lilo's camera was redesigned to have no sharp corners. Unfortunately, the only othet time Disney created a female main that was something other than a twig, it was Moana, another Polynesian. Which now implies that everyone else is 'normal weight' and that Polynesians are fat.
THANK YOU for calling out the bulls*** trying to villainize Lilo! You got all the right points, she's was just a lonely kid suffering from a traumatic loss so of course she'd act out! There's also poor Nani having so much responsibility put on her, having to work low paying jobs to support her sister instead of probably going to college! Both these poor girls had to deal with so much and don't deserve to be hated on!
As somebody who was a child who got traumatized at a young age and saw Lilo as an amazing kid to kind of project onto and look up to, it kind of hurts to hear people insult Lilo and call her a little brat. It was amazing seeing somebody close to my age also struggling with making friends and empathizing, with odd rituals and behavioral issues - and she was a main character - it made me so happy. And she had a happy ending with a mixture of biological and found family. It brought me so much hope that got me through some tough times because I could relate so well to her. I think what I liked was that Lilo wasn't the traditional sad, broken trauma survivor. She _was_ sad of course, but she was also confused and angry. She acted out and got in fights and called her own family "broken". She wanted answers and got a magical fish that controls the rain. She acted the way a traumatized child does and the outside world reacted to her the way that they act to any angry child. And I loved seeing that onscreen.
I dunno about you guys but Lilo and Stitch movie is a masterpiece. I love the characters, the songs ( especially elvis ), and even how it ends is amazing. I don't think I have seen any movie so far as Lilo and Stitch movie was. They even make Lilo and Stitch episodes and crossovers. I will always cherish this movie even though most people did not like this movie. To who hate this movie, " MICKA LANA QUISHTA!!"
Lilo always felt like a genuine real kid from a cartoon. She was written as what kids really act like in the real world and that’s what made her character very relatable to a lot of people from my generation and for later generations too who grew up with Lilo & Stitch. Lilo is a great character. She’s funny, smart and she helped Stitch understand empathy, the importance of family and caring for others.
Thank you! I've been saying Lilo is one of the greatest characters ever written! I have never seen a child so accurately depicted before or since. One more interesting fact about Nani to show how amazing she is, it's hinted that she was going to be a professional surfer and she gave that all up for Lilo. In her room, you can see trophies, medals, and surfing posters. This implies that she was very good at surfing and was well on her way to accomplishing her dream. This is further proven by the fact that she's able to surf with a kid and "dog" on her board. She is that good. I doubt an average surfer could handle that wave as well as she did with a kid on board, literally. It's little details like this that make Lilo and Stitch a masterpiece of cinema.
Lilo’s behavior reminds me of a friend of mine. She told me about this, I didn’t meet her until high school, may I add. Now she is a well rounded and absolutely wonderful person, full of love for nearly everyone and everything. When she was younger she acted much like Lilo did, got into lots of trouble, believed in imagery things to give her hope, was angry and all around an in depth character with many troubles, learning to get over grief. She was just a kid when her mother died of cancer, I wasn’t sure where her father was, but I know he wasn’t in the picture. And with no one else to be there for her, no family, she was thrown into the system. (She has a loving adoptive family now, who stuck with her through her issues) When watching this video, it reminded me greatly of her, the explanation for Lilos actions and struggles to deal with such a big loss, something she doesn’t quite understand. Just like my friend, she acted out, fought people, yelled, bit people and was scared. She didn’t understand what was going on. All she knew was she was alone. Which of course, greatly differs from Lilo having her sister, sure. But if someone who had no one but herself was able to become someone so kindhearted and full of smiles and hope. I can surely believe the same for Lilo. At a young age grief is hard to handle, it can result in so many things, but that doesn’t mean the inability to grow from it. When my friend told me how she had anger issues when I was younger, any friends listening in and myself were absolutely dumbfounded. She didn’t seem the type. But when she explained why, it was easy to make sense of things. Sure we didn’t have the same experience as her, but we could understand the pain in different ways, certainly not that of losing a parent in the same way. But we listened, and made sure she wasn’t alone as she told her tale. One she trusted us enough to voice. That’s how I’m sure Lilo would turn out to be a wonderful person. She has someone to listen and understand her pain, and she will never be alone. Family truly is everything, and so is love, whether it be that of friendship or family. Things can always change for the better if you believe.
I know how annoying kid characters can be at times. Remember Charlie from the Santa Clause? He was somewhat guilty of this. (Wow, am I really bringing up a Christmas movie on Easter?
Setting on Lilo's face when she is in the car during the Cobra Bubbles scene, I never caught her expressions and this is one of my top favorite films. Great analysis! I agree this movie deserves the attention and whoever that person was needs to realize LILO IS SIX... Though it's funny because several months ago I was talking to a colleague about this film and they were saying how terrible Lilo is and I remember telling them, "yeah but she's just a little kid, she's not doing it on purpose"
Thank you for making this video. My parents got divorced when I was just 5 and my sister was 3. I deeply love and can relate to Lilo and Nani. They feel like real people to me and that's good. I remember that I was attending a private school for kindergarten at the time of my parents' split & it was a nightmare that I still strongly feel after 28 years. I got kicked out of that school for lashing out at other children. Such horrible trauma at that early in life is devastating & never goes away.
Watching this movie is like eating a big slice of cake but backwards. When you watch the movie you feel sad but after you feel happy, whereas eating a cake is the best fucking feeling in the world but after you regret it. Damn I want cake... but I can't go out...
love the bit when you yell "SHE'S SIX" over a clip of lilo climbing up the stairs one by one bc her tiny child body is too small to take them like an adult *chef's kiss* Poetic Cinema
Lilo & Stitch is one of a few cartoons that showed such a real spot on portrayal of a sibling dynamic, just because they fought once doesn’t make it toxic lmao
Another thing to consider is that Lilo is on a different end of the spectrum. She’s autistic. I think the film took a beautifully realistic approach to it. Some people might see stitch as just comic relief, but his story arc involves coming from a family that had no family values. Stitch acts on instinct and relishes in chaos as a result from not being properly worked with growing up. He yearns for a strong connection/love. Where Lilo is very introverted, holding in her stress until she explodes, Stitch is very extroverted and felt very lost. Lilo touches upon this in a heartfelt way when she tells him she sees him cry at night, knowing why he is so destructive. Stitch’s body language immediately showed his true emotional/state and desire.
Also, side note, do you realize how terrible the United Galactic Federation is at doing their job? They literally let a warcriminal escape with the help of a defector.
I kept waiting for you to bring up the scene where Lilo asks Nani if it was her fault that Nani lost her job, and seems really upset about it until Nani tells her it wasn’t, because that scene really shows that Lilo does feel guilty for her actions and the outcome it has on Nani. My family and I love this movie, and it was great to see someone stand up for it
This will probably get lost in the comments, but thank you for making this video! I love Lilo as a character, and can heavily relate to her. My mom always says that she connects Nani and Lilo with us. She really had to work hard to help me after my initial family died, and my father (the only one left alive) gave me up. I was young, I didn’t understand, and it hurt. I acted out, screamed, threw tantrums, cried. I can say I was a nightmare, but I can also say I was hurting a lot. My mom had to put a lot into helping me, otherwise she could’ve lost me too, like Nani almost did. I know I’m not the same as Lilo, but I do relate. And I love her. This video was amazing, thank you so much for making it!
Lilo and Stitch is one of my all time favourite Disney films. It helped me learn to appreciae my family, even in my moments where I resented them, I still held on to a little appreciation for them.
Hey, I'm learning English and I was recommended to watch TH-cam videos to learn to understand it. And i'm glad this is one of the first channels I'm watching, and it's still small. your content is cool!!
If we are gonna discuss kids and their behaviors, I have to (as much as I agree to dislike her) come in Mertle's defense. She's definitely a brat, but I sympathize with her cuz she and Lilo are both victims of dramatic change in a family dynamic, but the main difference is the presence of positive adult guidance. Mertle's parents were divorced and she is dealing with the absence of her father while her mother tries to make her happy by pampering her with gifts and spoils her but that's not the best approach as the girl isn't properly disciplined and it doesn't help her come to terms with her parents' divorce. Whereas, Lilo lost her parents but has Nani who is a good parental figure that cares for her but doesn't hesitate to discipline her when she's wrong. She also has Stitch, David, Jumba, Pleakley, and even Agent Bubbles who are all part of their family. That goes to show how essential emotional support is to just material pleasure. Mertle may have one parent who gives her all the toys and material comfort, but she's lacking emotional support to help her get cope with her difficult circumstance, while Lilo lost both parents but has so much emotional support from her family and is able to cope properly while being happy, which is why Mertle is jealous of her and lashes out at her
We see “the perfect child” way too often in media and Lilo is a child that I could actually relate to as a kid - in pain and confused and just trying to make sense of a world that won’t make room for her. Kids are not born with inherent wisdom on how to best perform in society and it’s unrealistic to expect them to be mind readers in situations they don’t even understand to begin with. Even to this day I still see myself so much in Lilo. She just needs love and patience and Nani was able to give her those things most of the time despite being just her older sister working hard to keep her around.
Bruh. I don't even like kids but Lilo is such a complex character that I can't help but love her. When I first saw this movie at 11, I didn't like it that much because I thought Lilo was a brat but watching it again a year later, I chose to empathize with her character more and understood all she was going through. The kid went through a lot of shit and you expect her to just bear through it stoically? You have to put yourself in her shoes, she is not acting like a brat just to be a brat and that's what makes her such a deep character. She has emotions like a real human being. She doesn't understand how hard it is for Nani to raise her, she's only 6 years old for God's sake! Where in this movie was there abuse? Every sibling fights, every parent fights with their kid. The girl was getting bullied, what were you expecting her to do? Just sit there and cry? Bruh, I hate characters that sit there crying and whining for someone to come rescue them, it makes them a boring, passive, damsel in distress. This makes Lilo a strong, compelling character. Also if you choose to believe it, she may be autistic, which also adds to her behavior problems. I'm autistic and I don't always have control over my emotions and impulsivity.
Great video. Although at first I thought you were going to bring up the scene that Disney+ censored. You know-replacing the dryer with a table with a pizza pictured on it.
Funny thing is I used to hide in the dryer as a kid whenever my brother and I would play hide and seek. And I never saw this movie until I was in my teens....so yeah I don’t think censoring something like that works
You hit the nail right on the head, brother. This is a bit off topic, but I gotta get this off my chest real quick: In the second movie, I was actually kinda pissed off that Lilo got punished for beating up Myrtle when she insulted her dead mother. Myrtle’s exact words were “You’ll never be like your mom.” Okay, maybe beating her up wasn’t the BEST reaction, but, I don’t blame Lilo. I mean, being a bully is one thing. Being a completely insensitive little bitch is another. I hate that only Lilo gets punished for being rightfully pissed off, and Myrtle just gets off Scott free.
Someone on Tumblr pointed out that Nani has surfing trophies in her room. She had a lot going for her and even though it'd be so easy for her to take that frustration out on Lilo, she *doesn't*. As someone that experienced childhood trauma, I can say Lilo's character is extremely accurate. So many rituals and routines as a kid.
I actually saw a theory that Lilo feeds Pudge out of fear. She thinks he controls the weather, and so it was punishment for her not feeding him that her parents died. She feeds him because she blames herself for the loss of her parents. She might even be feeding Pudge so that she doesn't also loose Nani. So sad.
This is probably Disney's best movie. I love Frozen and Tangled and Little Mermaid was my first favorite movie as a kid, but Lilo and Stitch actually holds up as a really good movie. (And, I hate Myrtle, too, but in your own words . . . she's only 6. Maybe she has an emotionally trying back story as well :)
I remember seeing that tumblr post and felt a part of soul exit my body. I mean seriously Lilo is a CHILD. Children throw tantrums, that just something they do, rather the tantrum is “logical” or not! Not only that, but Lilo has trauma, her parents died, she’s gets bullied at school, and children with trauma are going to be even more complicated than children without. And sometimes that means they’re going to throw more tantrums! Honestly, that post made me so pissed, OP treated Lilo like an Adult with no problems, and not a child with trauma. And the fact that she thinks a child has power over an adult is just mind-boggling!!! AHHH!!
I love Nani, because as an older sister, I don’t think I could ever handle losing my parents, and then having the stress of having to care for my younger siblings. I respect her for that. I like how she still keeps that sisterly vibe instead of a motherly one.
I agree with how you said this person has probably never interacted with a real child. I'm training to be a teacher and have worked with children aged 3-7 and with a lot of children can be very selfish (generally through no fault of their own). They think about themselves it's not until their older they begin to really think about others. In school, once I was reading to a child and had another little boy come up to me a shove a book he wanted me to read right in my face. I had to explain I had to finish the book then I could read with him. He doesn't comprehend or realise that I was busy and need to finish with the other child first. And that's just how kids are. Young children don't have to think about difficult adult things, they often aren't even aware of the things adults have to do and sacrifice. So Lilo, as a 6-year-old, doesn't fully comprehend the things Nani has to think about or what she's had to sacrifice. BECAUSE SHE'S 6. Most children aren't little angels all the time they have their moments, especially if they've been through the trauma of losing parents and could even be removed from the only family member they have left. Children's brains aren't developed enough where they can process the thought of death and coping with death. They'll act out and while the behaviour shouldn't be encouraged you can't just put it down to them just being a spoiled brat because, like with Lilo, it can run deeper than that.
Lilo is my favorite female Disney character. She's not a princess, a superheroine, a warrior, or any sort. She's just an ordinary human being who is funny, brave, and relatable. Just for the heck of it, my Top 5 Favorite Disney characters are Sora, Goofy, Mickey Mouse, Stitch, and Lilo, in that order.
I love that little moment. Where Lilo shows the other girls that Strange homemade doll. Only for the girls to leave. She throws the doll away, but almost immediately Retrieves it and hugs it. Its both adorable and sad at the same time.
I KNOW! It’s so sad and yet so adorable at the same time.
Ida Dürrfeld I agree but the way you capitalised a few random words bothers me a little
It’s the closest thing she had to a friend at that moment
Broderick Siz sorry, sometimes autocorrect steps in. And I forget to fix it.
Lilo is so so real. I’m so happy you made this. She’s a sad little kid whose parents died and is acting out because, as said, SHE’S A KID.
And myrtle should have died in the holio episode
That's y she's my top favorite Character of Disney
And not only that, but Lilo is also bullied by her peers. I also believe that she has undiagnosed autism/Asperger's, which means it's more difficult for Lilo to understand things like social and learning aspects because her brain is made differently. The person who posted this clearly did not watch the movie at all, if they're saying such horrible things about Lilo.
What makes you think that?
@@oooh19 I did a little digging and analysis on Lilo's quirks and I think it makes a lot of sense! Also, I'm autistic and Lilo was a very relatable character for me when I was growing up, and she still is
Nani is my homegirl. Something you left out is if you look at the trophies in Nani's room, was a champion surfer. She gave that up to take care of Lilo. (you might have mentioned it, commenting halfway through the video)
unrelated but related: in Nani's bedroom, u can see a mulan poster too
@@nemashan3701 Oh, yeah. I noticed that recently, and it's a fun detail.
Their sibling relationship is more realistic than Anna and Elsa
@@moneylover318 True on that.
@@moneylover318 yeah, the original frozen movie had a deleted song that showed them bickering and it would've made them seem more realistic
They can scream for hours😅 and yeah Lilo is relatable. And yeah a 6 year old wouldn’t really understand the sacrifice Nani takes😅
She’s only 6. Of course she wouldn’t. And Nani doesn’t want to burden her with what she’s doing to keep Lilo with her. That’s the way family works.
No they wouldn't. Kids are just like that.
@@kieranstark7213 WE DEMAND RACIAL ACCURACY! Unless it's set in a patriarchal culture. Then you have to make it woke!

Steven Higgins Makes perfect fucking sense! XD
I always thought that Lilo accidentally didn't feed Pudge the day her parents died, and that's why she appeases him more rigorous.
That’s exactly what it is...
Nah she only started feeding him (I think) AFTER the crash. It’s a coping mechanism.
I took it more as inventing the weather thing after and feeding him to prevent what happened to her parents from happening to anyone else. That's cute as fuck honestly
Also at the start of the movie when she does feed pudge you can actually see storm clouds receeding which adds some creepypasta level subtext
@@cammo353 Plot twist: Pudge is secretly related to Stitch. He was the first sent to Earth and now has taken on a deity role.

Aloha means hello, goodbye, and love.

Shocking: Tumblr User Accidentally Reveals They Have Never Seen A Human Child
That reminds me of a post that a Tumblr user made telling people to "Stop whitewashing black people, stop coloring their palms a lighter shade"

Jeiku Furame what they need to do is stop changing character’s designs to make them more ‘diverse,’ and claiming that they are ‘fixing’ them.

@@internetexplorer6304 Yeah, they seem to think cultures are completely interchangeable.
MsFluffyninja7 wow😅
Huh... you think they would've pointed that out in the post, what with being so deadset on making a young'un out to be a bitch for the sake of being a bitch.

Same
So do teens and adults tbh.
I always thought Lilo was eight.
I'm not saying that Mertle was a nice kid, but getting physical with her is not how Lilo should have handled the situation.
I got a feeling Squiggs is a Myrtel during childhood and bullies girls like Lilo.

I will never forget when Lilo told Nani,
"I like you better as a sister than a mom."
Lilo probably didn't understand the gravity of the statement at the time, but it says a lot about how Nani was all too suddenly forced take on two roles towards Lilo, and that they were both struggling to cope with it.
Maybe them fighting in the car aused the accident? So lilo blame nani in a way and vice versa? ...
Whoever thinks that this movie glorifies abuse, has never seen an abused child or been in an abusive household.
Stitch Has a Glitch is one of the best movies about how dangerous systematic racism is! Lilo was forced to turn on Stitch to survive Myrtle's abuse!
@@neurodivergentsophie8411 I haven’t seen the movie in a long time, so, I brushed that point off, but, it makes so much sense!
I think she wasn't abused tho
Myrtle grew up to be Squigglydigg.
Imagine getting upset that a six year old acts immature
Well, to people who have been around kids, it is very aggravating when they throw a fit, or don't do as asked, or are rude, or inconsiderate, or selfish, or get themselves into trouble, or try to give you a heart attack.

@@burningice15 Probably wants the parents to go para gliding but then got tangled on the boats so they need to cut off the wires connecting, so they did and they jumped but didn't see the active volcano below so they melted.

*EDIT, 12/5/2022*
I want to address that I am fully aware that a person cannot control the actions of their fanbase.
This is a well thought out comment, she was under my radar before this and likely to be again after a while.

That was me and my mom when I was a child
I'm on the autism spectrum.
This is actually a theory I've seen a lot about Lilo and it makes sense to me!
I'm autistic and ADHD and I see ADHD in her, not autistic traits.

@@SEReina-gk1kx it never changes, I remember fighting over a toy with my siblings or brawling with them because they called me names I didn't like, 20 years later, still the same, our toys and vocabulary just got bigger. Does that mean we hate each other because we 'abuse' each other? Of course not, I love em to hell and back and I know they feel the same, bloody hell, feels like this Squiggly person doesn't know what having a sibling means.
True. I used to fight over stuff with my brother a lot. But we still siblings and we still love each other.
Nani had to 19 and Lilo 7...
the whole "relating to a fictional character" and seeing the comments of how someone like Lilo helped those people through similar hardships... is the reason why I heavily respect fictional characters and is likely the reason why Im in to making fictional characters, people really dont see how powerful media can be
to me a fictional character isnt just for entertainment, it's like listening to another real life person, listening to someone else's hardships, how they overcame those hardships and what we can learn from them to help ourselves
"Listening to Elvis Presley of all people" I'm just shocked
To quote the Joker; “Memories can be vile, repulsive little brutes. Like children I suppose.”
You forgot to debunk the BS about the year takes place in it obviously takes place in 90's but they were trying to claim it takes place the 70's
@That One oh ok makes sense
I thought it took place in the 2000s
I can imagine this guy having kids and screaming at his three year old that they don't appreciate his sacrifices for them.
Also Nani was probably going a surfer but had to let it go due to losing her parents. Best character
Hey, Raisor... the fact that people turning their back on, leaving, or dying on Lilo doesn't even phase her anymore, I honestly found that rather shocking. No kid should have to deal with loss so severe, that they treat it so flippantly. But, considering how jilted Lilo was before Stitch walked into her life and knowing her backstory... is that really surprising?
Feltzer342 um mate, children do experience loss though
@@gracekim1998 ...Where did I say they didn't, mate? I know they do.

Also... (and keep in mind that not all autistic people are the same)
Honestly, as an autistic person growing up, I had a lot of the behavioural issues Lilo does, even long after most kids grow out of it; even now, as an adult, I still struggle sometimes.
But it’s hard to do that when my brain isn’t fully formed like most people’s are)
I hope my rambling makes sense.
Same, don't worry, you weren't rambling, you were just spitting facts. ;)
Mertle may not be the nicest kid per se, but even she didn't deserve getting punched and bitten.
I just learned today that Pudge killed Lilos parents.
Does anyone else think they should out of dislike button to Twitter
It's more satisfying to see people get ratio'd
Yes to everything in this video. Lilo is HUMAN!
When people don't allow kids to grieve and express real emotions, they can become sociopaths or overly sensitive as adults
@@RandomSkyeRoses Those people have no empathy.
I kinda have that too
@@RandomSkyeRoses THIS
The thing with Pudge is even more sad:
Lilo forgot 1 time to feed her fish Pudge, and coincidentally, THAT's the day bad weather appeared and their parents got killed in a car crash due to this. She literally LINKS Pudge not being taken care of ... with bad luck.
That's why she was so offended when Myrthle called her crazy.
My dad was killed by a drunk driver when I was 5 this is one of the reasons I connect with this film even though I was a teen when it originally came out
This movie doesnt glorify abuse it glorifies family
The only thing I like from Dig is that Un Poco Loco covet she did, that’s it. I used to like her art a lot but the way she started acting just began souring it for me
Frigg Fluff Yea, her singing is amazing, sad that the person behind the voice is not who I thought she was. (at least from the comments I read)
Yep.., her singing is awesome but otherwise seeing this ...
@@frenchbreadstupidity7054 That is not a good look on Disney
To quote Rebecca Bunch, on the topic of Lilo and Stitch: “That movie is cinematic art”
As a girl growing up with undiagnosed autism, I really identified with Lilo. I love her.
ME TOO, I HAVE ASD
child/teen character: makes mistakes and is childish or misunderstanding
the internet: they're toxic!!!!!
You know who else’s parents died in a “car accident”? Harry. Harry Potter. That’s all I’m gonna say.
Yer a wizard, Lilo
Harry Potter is also written by jk Rowling. That’s all I’m gonna say
Technically it isn't fair when you tag you nephew in a game of tag because your legs are probably 10 times as long as his.
Damn I want cake... but I can't go out...
love the bit when you yell "SHE'S SIX" over a clip of lilo climbing up the stairs one by one bc her tiny child body is too small to take them like an adult
*chef's kiss* Poetic Cinema
"Pudge controls the weather"
WELLP. I'm gonna go cry for a bit, excuse me.
After realizing that I was autistic, I started to see Lilo as autistic too, which made me relate to her even more.
I used to love Squigglys content, but her take on Lilo and Stitch is god awful and the amount of racist shit on her Tumblr is really disgusting.
I'm a young writer and to be honest, people like you are my kind of people!
Mertle may have one parent who gives her all the toys and material comfort, but she's lacking emotional support to help her get cope with her difficult circumstance, while Lilo lost both parents but has so much emotional support from her family and is able to cope properly while being happy, which is why Mertle is jealous of her and lashes out at her
Thank you for the Myrtle defense!!
like yes she’s a bitch but she’s also six and going through a lot,and it isn’t her fault her mom isn’t teaching her that it’s wrong
There’s also the fact that Lilo sees Nani as a sister and not a parent. You are definitely more likely to act out with an older sibling than a parent.
This is literally confused matthew and lion king all over again.
I NEVER MADE THAT CONNECTION WITH PUDGE THE FISH!!! BUT IT MAKES SOOO MUCH SENSE NOW!!!
Thank you! Raisor, you are one of the really good ones. Also, aloha and happy Easter to ya!
Great video. Although at first I thought you were going to bring up the scene that Disney+ censored. You know-replacing the dryer with a table with a pizza pictured on it.
Are you telling me that the scene where Lilo hides in the dryer was censored???
If I'm not mistaken, the Pizza box was from the UK release of the movie.
Funny thing is I used to hide in the dryer as a kid whenever my brother and I would play hide and seek. And I never saw this movie until I was in my teens....so yeah I don’t think censoring something like that works
@marianne mccrank I don't think parents would think to point out that specific part to tell their kids not to do it.
"Lilo is so ungrateful for everything Nani does"
H E R P A R E N T S A R E D E A D
MAN THANK U SO MUCH MYRTLE GETS AWAY WITH EVERYTHING
Maybe she has an emotionally trying back story as well :)
she actually does, her dad left her, but i agree lilo and stitch holds it's place as favorite disney movie in my heart
