Still annoyed that we got robbed out a Villian Couple.
When I was younger, back in 2011, I wrote out a very detailed plot and story for a Disney princess movie. The villains were a husband and wife duo!
I'm far from EVER stepping foot on Disney property, or in any remote position to even pitch it to them. But if somehow, some way, all the stars align, the heavens open, and the angels look down upon me, chucking divine intervention like a baseball pitching machine, I will make this happen. Put me in, coach!
There's a great fan made animatic using scrapped dialogue between Magnifico and Amaya. They had great chemistry, they acted just like Morticia and Gomez Addams. They were so cute and unapologetically evil. The scene was genuinely funny, too.
Why did Disney scrap this?
You know how MUCH money Disney could have made selling merch of these two if they were both Villains?
@@LadyDecember I live for that last sentence
Yep. Classic Villain times 2.
And it just fits so perfectly! A girl who loves wishes with a boy who is the embodiment of fulfilling wishes. Heck, they could even add a scene where Star confesses he's never had a wish for himself, and by the end, he says his wish is to be with Asha.
YES!!! What's so bad about this?
Because Modern Disney hates fun and romance
I would've liked Asha and dismiss her failed attempts of quirkiness if they just brought Star Boy to life. Disney rebooted their stories to death so it wouldn't be too late.
@@Uta_Chandra.H Personally, I would've made Asha a shy but optimistic person while Aster is the exact opposite being loud and curious but childishly cruel at times.
AWWW that’s so cute we were robbed
21:39 - If they made it so Star Boy doesn't have a perfect grasp on English (since he's not used to being on Earth and interacting with humans) and he keeps mixing up his words and saying the wrong things throughout the whole movie, having him be the one who says *"Watch out world, here I are!"* would have turned it from cringe to downright adorable.
holy crap…that’s actually such a good cute idea!! WHY DIDNT DISNEY USE THAT 😭😭
And maybe after starboy says “watch out world, here I are!” Asha could correct him or something that’d be super cute
OH MY GOD, YOU'RE A GENIUS!!! If I were to ever write a fix-it fic for this movie, would you be okay with me using your idea????
@@lulucamarillo7448 Sure. I can't copyright ideas, lol.
You stole it from Megamind, how dare you.
Also love your HTTYD pic.
They say the old school Princesses had no character. The old school Princes had no names.
Hilariously, it's apparently canonical that they _do_ have names...it's just that they're never used up until Phillip and Eric. The Prince in Snow White is said to be named Florian (though some sources say his name is Ferdinand), Cinderella's prince is Henry. Then we get Phillip in Sleeping Beauty, Eric in The Little Mermaid, and Beast aka Prince Adam (again, his name isn't actually mentioned in the film) in Beauty and the Beast.
@@MokiefraggleFor some reason I thought Henry's name was literally Charming...
@@jack_stone I'm honestly pretty sure _everyone_ thinks that. I only knew for sure about Beast being named Adam, but I'd heard about the others being named, so it was just a matter of finding their names.
I’m not gonna act like the princesses had a bunch of personality but the princes definitely got the short end of the stick in the older films
Yo, True. There names are Florian and Henry.
They could have "At All Costs" be Magnifico's villain song if he was singing it to his wife
Hard disagree. It doesn’t work as a villain song. It fits Asha and Star Boy better.
@@blueflare3848 I mean come on a tender song that gets an even more menacing reprise when he goes full villain mode. Like come on a bad guy that's motivated by the love he has for his wife and to the desire to protect his happy ending is dope
@@GraveyardMaidenokay, with the explanation, that would be cool. Kinda showing that Love can do things to you, whether it’s becoming a better person (Asha and Star) or doing whatever it takes, even if it makes you evil (Magnifico and Amaya).
@@GraveyardMaiden Okay, when you put it that way, I can see it. That would actually be pretty cool, not gonna lie. But I think the song as is feels too slow to be a villain song. Usually they’re more fast-paced, which is why I think At All Costs fits Asha and Star Boy better. Though it being sung by Magnifico and Amaya first and then getting a reprise of it after he goes full villain would be amazing.
@blueflare3848 It would have worked better if King Magnifico and Queen Amaya had children. It would have been very heart warming to see. Him and his daughter singing together.
You know that scene where the citizens are singing “This Wish”? Imagine that scene but Starboy is dying and it’s like the “I believe in fairies” scene from the original Peter Pan
And imagine it in a traditionally animated renaissance Disney style…*sheds tear*
There actually is an animatic of "this wish reprise" that does this and it's adorable.
@@YourLadyStar i love that animatic SO MUCH
You know what's pathetic? The gargoyles from Hunchback of Notre Dame contributed more to their story than Valentino ever did in Wish. They had to convince Quasimodo to go to the Festival of Fools, and, in the climax, had to help him fight off Frollo's soldiers who were climbing up the cathedral. Valentino did absolutely nothing in this movie to justify his existence. It also doesn't help that he was never funny in the slightest, despite Alan Tudyk's efforts.
I heard that there was a deleted scene where Val was supposed to help the forest animals break into a battle but it was cut for time, and it's a shame.
Why do you undermine the usefulness of Valentino’s butt? /s
@@ΓιάννηςΧΔ-γ7γ Jacquimo from Thumbelina was more useful ngl
His itchy asshole found a secret door though.
same with the hyenas in the lion king
It’s kind of sad that the original ideas for Wish are better than what we got. I’m always a sucker for lovers from opposite worlds and I think as Disney has made some of the most iconic romances in cinema, having one in Wish would have been a nice celebration of that legacy.
What really annoys me is the fact that they said they scraped Starboy/Aster, due to him "being too similar to Genie" , when Genie is the only! other male, magical character I can think of, and they were created 31 years apart, but somehow that would cause them to have 2 too similar characters too many. But!, in the span of 54 years we have had 11! "fairy godmother" types of characters (4 of them being from the same movie! Fairy godmother from Cinderella, the 3 faries and Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty, the one from Pinocchio, Madam Mim from The Sword in the Stone, The Evil Queen from Snow White, Mary Poppins, Ursula from The little Mermaid, the one from Beauty and the Beast) , but turning Asha into another fairy godmother type of character apperently was completely do-able and no issue at all!
Even I know that’s bullshit! They wanna justify cutting out Starboy because “He’s too similar to the Genie from Aladdin.” And yet, they thought putting in seven characters with little to no personality to parody the seven dwarfs from Snow White was a better idea? Give me a break!
Exactly! And a LITERAL CALL OUT to Peter Pan happens at the end of the movie, what sort of ridiculous excuse was that to scrapping Starboy! Sounds more to me like they want to toot their own horn by trying so hard to give the "Genie/Starboy" similarities when A LOT of people would had immediately assumed Starboy was the 2020s, Disney version of Jack Frost/Tumblr men" instead!
We still haven't had a magical lover! (Peter Pan doesn't count, he's a mean little gremlin)
Don't forget how "strong" he was
And want Asha solves the problem herself :)))
Honestly woulda been cool to contrast the characters. Wishing on a star has no guarantees but if it happens, its more likely to work to your intent, same to magic by your own hand. The catch tries from trying to use magic that isn't yours or given freely. That ends up with a bit more of a monkey's paw situation. Starboy does this willingly, as is his power while the Genie does not. The latter's power is in interpretation.
My therapist once told me that "Love is not a feeling. Attraction is a feeling; Love is a behavior. Love is when you care for someone so deeply that you want to help them become better, and in the possess you might just find you've become better too."
^ This. Right here. Beautiful!
I don't think romantic love is real or special, and I think romantic relationships are a bad thing. More than half of romantic relationships end in a breakup/divorce. I think humans should just ditch concepts like dating, marriage, and pair bonding. I feel like this world would be a much better place without romance than it is with it. Romance seems like an ugly thing.
It does seem that nearly all fathers and brothers are hoping that their daughters and sisters never date or get married and remain single for their whole life. Romantic relationships seem like a bad thing since there is a lot of dangers when it comes to them.
The overprotective father/brother thing is proof that romantic relationships are a bad thing, and this world would be a much better place without them.
If someday that the human race ditches the concept of romance and romantic relationships, and got rid of stuff like dating and marriage, fathers and brothers would be happy about it since they wouldn't ever have to worry about their daughters and sisters ever dating if that ever happened.
@searain1573 ... That is a very scary thought. Relationships are what make people, well, people. It is a natural feeling that is hardwired into humanity as a social species. To deny romantic attraction like it is somehow a flaw with humanity is akin to saying humans are just fleshy meat robots and it doesn't matter what we feel; that it would be better if we just got rid of what makes us human.
It is natural for fathers/brothers to feel anxious for their daughters/sisters, someone they love and care for deeply, to move on with someone else. But change is a fact of life, as inevitable as the rising sun. If you can't let go that is a sign of an unhealthy dependence.
Hurt and pain and heartache is scary, obviously, but I is important to acknowledge it, just as it is important to not let it drag you down. If you never have bad experiences then how will you be able to recognize and appreciate the good ones?
Divorces are so common today because people in this day and age have become desensitized to forming long term commitments. They rush into marriage and when things get rocky they pack up and leave instead of trying to work things out. That's not to say divorces shouldn't happen, there are times when a relationship is genuinely unhealthy for one or both parties, but if your first instinct is to jump ship when things get rough that is not a positive growth mindset.
I'm not sure what happened to convince you that romance is a bad thing and should be done away with from humanity as a whole, but I am genuinely concerned for you.
@@searain1573 that is a very scary thought. I don't know what happened to convince you that humanity would be better off without romance, and I am genuinely concerned for you.
@@pyronuke4768 Most fathers and brothers don't want their daughter/sister to be taken by anyone. I think the stereotype of dads/brothers who don't want anyone to date their daughter/sister is 100% accurate. It's psychologically ingrained in their heads that they don't want their daughters/sisters to ever date.
Romantic relationships are dangerous, and there's a high chance that someone (especially if they're female) of getting hurt from being in one.
There's a reason why the idea of their daughters/sister dating and getting married someday is often considered a father's/brother's worst fear when it comes to them having daughters/sisters.
Romantic relationships should be removed from this world. So, fathers with daughters and brothers with sisters would have less things to worry about.
I mean outside of Sleeping Beauty the princess HAD character even in the old Disney films. The story's were about them. Snow White and Cinderella focused almost the entire runtime w the female protagonist and it was the Princes who really didn't have any characters. If anything they were the prizes at the end of the story for girls.
Glad someone said this.
I think aurora's personality is being easygoing, kind of naive and a complete hopeless romantic. While also having a crisis of all of her previous life as a commoner girl living in the woods suddenly ending and being thrown right into royal life.
I still don’t like the excuse of them saying the starboy would be too similar to the Genie.
"We can't have this shape-shifting character in our movie because he's a lot like the Genie.
But we can definitely add these seven characters who are basically the seven dwarves."
But then we have Asha who is just a Great Value version of most of their female characters from the last decade, so I think that's a little bs.
To quote a TH-cam comment from another wish related video: “Ah yes, because when I think of the genie I think of a blonde haired twink.”
@@txwtw I laughed more than I should. Anyway, just let Asha have her blonde twink dammit.
As if half the movie isn’t “supposed” to be reminiscent of Disneys past in the first place💀
As someone who aren't much into romances, I had always expressed my thoughts that romance has always been an important classic element in Disney before Frozen and Wish should have romance as it's supposed to be a 100 anniversary celebration for both old and new. This video really speaks for me!
Also I really love the idea that even the villains deserves their own true love were they don't care for any one else except for each other and share same sadistic interest in torturing other people. A cute Disney villain couple would be perfect for Wish were the queen could represent every iconic female Disney villain while the king could represent every iconic male Disney villain.
I love that idea!

Under The Boardwalk ironically felt more like a Disney movie than Wish.
And even Hazbin Hotel felt more like a Disney movie!!

Your right! It has cute characters, songs and dances AND a romance. This movie about hermit crabs feels more like a Disney movie indeed 🙂
I didn’t see it but it’s stupid and rude that Paramount put it under the rug and didn’t tell anyone until THE DAY BEFORE RELEASE!
What I don't understand why people didn't like Wish is because there's no love interest I find that kind of dumb just because Asha is a Disney Princess doesn't mean she needs a love interest there are three other Disney Princesses that don't have love interests Moana Raya and Merida and people also though the animation wasn't finished when the animation was fine but what do I know that's fans for you
I really like your version of it. I would in addition also make Asha the daughter of King Magnifico and Queen Amaya. Not only would that acually give Asha royal status, But it would also make the story more interesting. We have seen Disney princesses with abusive and evil step parents. But never with biological parents. I Think Saberspark was the first one I heard come up with the idea and I approve of it.
You forgot Princess and the frog. It has a cute romance too 🥰The animation is beautiful, the villain is scary and entertaining, his song is great. I like this movie!

I had this shower thought that Disney technically succeeded in making an original fairytale because now just like any other fairytale, it will be retold in different ways. Sure where gonna have to change names to avoid copyright infringement, but the same characters having different names happens all the time with myths.
I should probably clarify that this isn’t a praise for Disney, the shower thought started because I was frustrated that none of the adaptations of Beauty and the Beast have the warrior queen in it and then that Wish realization hit me.
@djmutt2000 all im hearing from you is that you want an adaptation where the beast is a wolf. Or it could just be me wanting to get a werewolf boyfriend.
Is there something wrong with that?
@@emuanon34i know rigtht? This movie has succeeded in all the wrong ways XD
At All Cost if used as intended could’ve been reminiscent of “A Whole New World” or “I See the Light” because not only would the song make sense and be more impactful. It could honor Disney in a way that’s not too on the nose.
So much missed potential. I actually think At All Costs is a good song. If it were a love song (which it already sounds like), it would have definitely been up there with I See the Light
Funny, since in one of scenes from the original film, they actually did a nod to A Whole New World when the two of them see all the sea creatures to come to life as they cross a sea, also homaging Little Mermaid and a Pinocchio's Whale cameo during a beautiful sunrise.
@@RascalEntertainments I did see that. Every single cut content from this film makes me more mad at it
I love your idea of the wishes in Magnifico’s chamber naturally disappearing on their own when Asha and Starboy/Aster go around fulfilling them in different ways, with Magnifico and Amaya growing paranoid about losing leverage over their subjects! I wasn’t sure of how to give Magnifico a clear motivation to do evil while already having magic (I imagined him as a Wizard of Oz-like figure who wants to acquire magic to hold on to power), but this is a great one!
First, love the new outfit. It really suits you. Second, It's such a shame Disney is so against giving their protagonist a love interest nowadays, and this film, a celebration of 100 years, was the perfect chance to bring it back. And you're right, Asha would've been so much more interesting if she had Star Boy to bounce off of and grow as a character with.
"princesses were treated as a reward for the prince" but that's such an unfare criticism though?? Even as a child i often felt it was the other way around. Who even remembers the princes' names? They are a "reward" for heroines for being such good girls😂
You know…that’s actually a valid point. 🤔
Yeah, i always thought the same!
Like yeah, prince in Cinderella literally just yawned, didn't even come looking for her himself. He's Cinderella's sweet golden ticket to leaving her toxic family behind and living in the castle happily. Not the other way around.
I think some people need to actually rewatch and do an in-depth analysis of the old Disney movies and their character. The princesses had motivations (Cinderella didn't want to go to the ball simply for the prince. That was just an added bonus. And Prince Phillip actually had personality). Don't get me wrong, the renaissance era did a much better job at fleshing out the characters and their relationships, but the old Disney movies (Despite being made in a time where it didn't really matter), did have a bit of spice put into the characters. I think a lot of people who critise stuff that doesn't actually happen (Like the princess just being objects for the prince to win in the end) haven't actually watched the movies
Right, sure older Disney Princess wanted to fall in love (as do most people) but that was never like their end goal. If anything, they were minded their own business and ran into their Prince. Even Disney's first Princess, Snow White didn't know a Prince was going to rescue her but she continued living her life in a forest in a cabin, a complete 180 of living in a castle. And even if people want romance in their life why is that seen as such a bad thing nowadays?
“At All Costs” the demo version is favorite song from this movie. It sucks that they didn’t add it to the final version.
I think what pisses off a lot of people about wish is because there is potential to be a good movie it's just disney didn't try they just wanted a movie for the 100 year anniversary. There was no heart or passion behind it. Its like that kid in class that knows the answers on a test but only does enough to pass to keep the teacher off there back and doesn't care and is just doing it to get it over with.
Yeah, Disney viewed their CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION as homework when they should've seen it as an opportunity to really bring out the big guns and show the world why they've lasted as long as they have. At least we got Once Upon A Studio but the same amount of effort should've been put into Wish also, or maybe Once Upon A Studio should've been made into a feature length film instead.
@@colbystearns5066That’s what I said before they should have just made once upon a studio into a full fledge film instead.
Smells like Corporate
The meta of a Disney princess pioneering the art of animation in universe is just lol.
I can imagine Starboy having a voice similar to Peter Pan.
Who do you think could make that voice?
Literally the musical Aida has a whole number called Every Story is a Love Story and in it the princess literally sings about how every story ever told is a story of love. "All are tales of human failing. All are tales of love at heart." I always took it to mean that any story is somehow about love either having it, looking for it, losing it, the very absence of it etc. i miss the old disney romances 😭 i didn't realize how old Tangled is, i remember seeing it in theaters with my sister when i was 12

Many parents also will have their teenage daughter go to an all-girls school so that it will prevent them from dating boys.

Asha never has an iconic look either, something I loved about old Disney as a kid. Would've been cool to have a more stylized look and a blue or green dress, maybe teal. Great video, I agree with you.

This re write feels better executed and almost timeless than the actual Final Cut!!! Kudos to you and your writing skills 🥰🥰🥰
14:43 Funny you mentioned that. With one of the deleted scenes, that's exactly what they're dynamic was going to be! Asha was originally a down to earth character while Starboy was the quirky one who was getting used to Earth. th-cam.com/video/dGpG995le2g/w-d-xo.htmlsi=3_i6-nLxddH-m7vO
Especially with a moment after they escape the Queen, we're treated a beautiful ocean scene caused by Star's magic that makes the animals follow them in joy. It even becomes a three way reference to Little Mermaid, Pinocchio and Aladdin.
Asha gets so caught up in the magic that Star caused, she actually starts to have fun and enjoy the adventure. Only to remember her mission and has to snap back to seeious mode. Its such a small, but well drawn scene Star is having an affect on her and showing her the fun in life, even with the evil looming.
The way Star breaks her and Valentino's fall into the water tho, I love that detail that he just makes it so they aren't hurt by the impact.
Hell, Disney has actually done films that don't have romance as the main focus very well in the past. Treasure Planet is the best example I can think of.
Uhhh....so you're just going to pretend Dilbert and Amelia don't exist?
There's Brother Bear
While not every movie needs romance, it's still nice to see it
This rewrite (and all the others) is gonna be WAYYYY better than the actual Wish.
Also Haleema canon!!!

And the main villain was supposed to be a villain couple. That would of been a goldmine lol.
this is probably my favorite rewrite I've seen so far! love the idea about "I'm a star" being a compilation of everyone granting their own wishes, I think that would have fixed like 60% of the movie
Disney romances were some of the best. I hope someday they will do it well again. Good job mentioning Elemental, too.
The star is just there so they can make a plushy of it to sell at Disney Land.
This. I can see execs at Disney talking about how Starboy isn't "toyetic" and needs to be completely changed. 🙄
We need the Snyder cut of Wish.
If Disney hadn't skipped the BEAUTIFUL love story between Asha and the Starboy, and the evil villain couple, Magnifico and Amaya, then i would have absolutely LOVED "Wish"!!! 😭💔💢
Yep same with me, but Disney was like “Not gonna happen” and then we got robbed.
This movie just screams of lost potential. I'm honestly glad I never saw this movie.
Nice artwork by the way.
24:35 Hey! That’s my friend! I know her!
I love your new character artwork!! Gives me a punk kingdom hearts vibe
What if magnifico after finding out Aster is literally wishing star (after the 'I'm a star' song where Asha and Aster help fulfil/grant wishes without magic) kidnaps him as a ransom to get wishes back from the people so Asha needs to gather the masses to free Aster and in turn people realise how evil Magnifico is and rebel; it's one thing to receive a selflessly given wish it's another to steal/kidnap a literal wishing star because you want people to relay on you granting them wishes; even though he was doing it without magic
Starboy was clearly meant as a genderswapped version of Neil Gaiman’s Stardust. And I’d have been all for it.

Glad I am not the only one who noticed this recent anti-love trend in Hollywood, where it seems that a lot of filmmakers think they are being uber-progressive for not giving their main protagonist a love interest.....despite the fact that love is one of the most universal and natural parts of the human experience. It just comes off as rather sad that Hollywood thinks that a character without love is somehow stronger.
Agreed, it's become really boring because a lot of films feel very interchangeable. Like they're made by the same people and check off the same things, even though they're made by different people.
Romantic relationships are not a beautiful thing. Romance causes a lot of problems in this world. Life is a lot better without romance than it is with it. Romantic love is not special at all, and I think that the romantic type of love isn't real.
There's a great fan made animatic uploaded to youtube using scrapped dialogue between Magnifico and Amaya. They had great chemistry, they acted just like Morticia and Gomez Addams, ugh they were so cute and unapologetically evil, I loved it! The scene was genuinely funny, too. Why did Disney scrap this?
I’ve listened to several rewrite ideas for wish now and this is the best idea yet! And the ideas are actually so simple and obvious it’s laughable Disney didn’t come up with it.
I like new design of your character razor looks awesome ROCK ON BRO 🤟👍
“You’ve had 100 years to come up with this and I came up with it in like three minutes” The absolute annoyance in this man’s voice when he said that was hilarious!
He's a shapeshifter so Disney could have given us the hot starboy AND made a plushie. He could have stayed mute also which could have been a call back to the little mermaid
And this is where the debut of his new look comes in. 👌
I swar, PIKACHU in his first appearance showed more character and more personality!
actually Snow White, Cinderella and Beauty and the beasts princes DO actually have names! they are Florian, Henry and Adam respectively.
I gotta say, as someone who wants to be in the entertainment industry, there is a good point in saying to take inspiration from the bad stuff. Cause this film and it's og concepts did inspire an idea of mine with some similarites. And I intend to learn from Disney's mistakes.
The message about still being happy despite not having our deepest desires come true reminds me a lot of Pixar's Soul. The wishes is almost exactly the same as Soul's purpose. The two films however has an almost complete opposite view on the matter.
If I wanted to play an out of context love song to my wedding, I would just play "Love is an Open Door"
Seriously, if you guys wanna see a wishing movie that actually has a good message, watch the Pokemon Jirachi the wish maker movie
9:55 a case can easily also be made for Cinderella. She definitely had a personality in the 1950s original Disney movie. She had her own shortcomings, regardless of whether Cinderella went to that ball she had the ambition to try to get out of her circumstances. It can easily be said that the prince was her prize....which is not a good thing whether it's a man or woman a person shouldn't be a prize but the prince didn't have much of a personality in the first place.
I kinda wish King magnifco was like Calypso from twisted metal. How every time someone makes a wish, he will use a monkey paw style of granting them. For example if someone wishes for the power of flight and they jump off a building, its reviled he used a double meaning and got plane tickets
(the boy and the heron won the oscar and im really sad cus i literally love ghibili films like i have a tally on a small white board for how many times ive seen what films - but i didnt see it in theatres and now i have to wait til summer for it to be available for watching)
10:50 Huh. You know, as common as that saying is, I've never actually seen floodgates opening like that before. Neat.
Tiana was the most recent disney princess with romance that was a balance of fantastical and more modern relationship dynamics
20:16 Oh my god they do give off lesbians vibes, they even have like matching colors of yellow and blue on their outfits #HALEEMA
ArielBBS27, they could someday adopt a kid who wears a green outfit since Hal wears blue and Bazeema wears yellow! Blue+Yellow=Green😍😍😍
I loved Simba and Nala! They were best friends who fell in love. That is hands down my favorite romance trope. They were so cute and happy together. Then of course Flynn and Rapunzel are incredibly awesome! Cute, funny, adorkable and they truly seem to love and care for each other. It was like after Disney made it’s best era of romance (90’s-early 2010s) they just stopped making romance all together. But I miss it so much because other than believing that wishes and dreams will come true and having amazing music the main thing I think about with Disney is romance and falling in love and having a relationship with someone. And now not having that in the newer movies makes me kinda sad and miss it
That new outfit of your avatar looks good RaiserBlade👍
Disney appears to be struggling with regulating when its works need romance and when it doesn't.
It's more or less basing its motivations on trends that the viewers follow and like and assume that if they don't make a work focused on a perceived character personality trend or something then the viewers might not like it.
Disney used to be one of the ones that set the trends not follow them, so WISH was supposed to be the one setting the trend that started it all not underwhelmingly trying to follow trends.
Asha, I liked her design but for her character, she tries too hard and has no exact direction of a need for growth.
The star while cute as a plushy, well, yeah it's just a plushy, sorry.
King Magnifico was supposed to be The Villain that wrote the book on villainy, the baddie that started all baddies, but he came off more like a disgruntled, underappreciated dad who's trying to teach their kid that not all wishes are good wishes until he has to go extreme on his lesson.
The moral lesson of the movie wasn't much of a moral lesson.
WISH had the potential to be so much more and still does if they ever consider a surprise rewrite, but the played too safe in assuming what the audience would like instead of they themselves creating what could be liked the way they did back then.
You new cartoon avatar is more than cool
I've heard many versions of this story people came up with. And I gotta say so far I love your version the most. Oh how badly I'd love to see this. 😭
I absolutely loved this video!!! Also I really loved that you showed HaH Studios animatic in your video they are my personal favorite animatic TH-camr of all time!!!
Just a big thank you for this entire video. it summed up all my thoughts and feelings in a far more cohesive way than I was coming up with (and was fun along the way).
The reason WISH don’t want to have any romance they want this whole girlboss crap where the girl can beat the bad guy without a love interest all that jazz. Also, they think romance is too stereotypical.
at 4:38 i was mindblown i am still living in 2020 as when i saw that tangled has been released in 2010 i was like oh its been 10 years...
Your new avatar looks awesome. And that angry expression is hilarious!
While I wouldn't say I was pining for a romance story in "Wish," I like how people rolled with that idea for Asha and Starboy, and this one is no exception. I could imagine him showing off his shapeshifting powers to garner Asha's attention and later use them to comfort her during her downer moments.
Oh and speaking of powers, I want to see a final showdown between the two couples using magic against one another. Maybe have Magnifico and/or Amaya capture Starboy and absorb his powers to become shapeshifters (i.e. turn into dragons a la Maleficent) and spread their curse onto their subjects, like how Magnifico did in the actual movie. Then maybe Asha would unite said subjects against their rulers (again, like in the final film) and use whichever magic she's learned to free Starboy. The two heroic lovers, along with the people of Rosas, could combine their respective magic and hope/courage to create a final blast against the king and queen, defeating them once and for all.
Alright, Alright! “Haleema” a thing!
New threads are f*ckin sic dude.
I don't know what the agenda is at Disney but it feels dark and sinister if they're literally at war with LOVE ITSELF...
27:36 as someone who is one of the most passionate people about Encanto, if they do as you are fearing, I will be furious.
I'm a sucker for Disney romance. Hope they take note and give us something soon
With Beauty and the Beast we'll never have another movie like that what other movie has created a whole category in the academy awards after being nominated for the best picture one
There was a song that came to mind when I heard about the concept of Asha and Earendel (star boy). That song is Rule the World by Take That. Even better, this song played at the end credits of Stardust. Great movie btw, it's currently free to watch on TH-cam and I definitely recommend watching it.
And don’t forget that the reason that Disney want to kill NIMONA is because this movie have the balls to make his LGBTQIA+ couple the main character of the movie and not a secondaire character or extras or background character that can be easely deleted for having the money of Russia and China country
And Disney make a really big *T R O L L* to the LGBTQIA+ community with the movie Strange World went they say « You want that the main character are gay/lesbian ok *B U T* you don’t say and you don’t presice that his/her boyfriend/girlfriend was the main character too »
* insert Trollollo song here *
So yes Disney hate gay romance too
And yet they let The Owl House slide? I love the show, but I sense hypocrisy.
Strange World did try to have a romance.
It was written terribly.
Your new look goes with your name
9:35 you're talking about women being more than a plot device for romance here, and in the dannish dub here, ariel sing: "Where the women with out fins stand on their own legs" SO powerful
Everything you say about how you imagine the story for Wish will go precisely how I imagine my story goes for Wishes rewrite.
I'll NEVER let Disney live that one down!!
just imagine if Asha wished for her Starboy to remain.... 🥺
It wasn't till now that I realized the voice of perrito voices the "grumpy" character in this film. Very ironic, since Wish has their own perrito, Valentino, and he is a much worse version of him.
Out of all of the rewrite ideas I've seen, this is my favorite. Since Asha clearly loves her friends, family, and kingdom very much, her and Aster working together to help people achieve their wishes is a great way to expand her character. It would also give individuality to her friends, who currently really don't have a reason to exist. And of course, it builds chemistry with our main couple, plus everyone else!
Also, I really like the concept of Haleema, and why not tease two of the boys from the group being interested in each other? Bingo, we got some nice representation.
Here's an idea: why doesn't somebody on youtube create a new indie studio and use the concept arts to create a 2D animated youtube indie movie
Pinkiemachine studios lo está haciendo 🥰

kamishin, you read my mind! I someday wanna have a building where its a recording studio/animation/artist room! It'd have a break area, a restroom, maybe even a cheorgraphy room, idk!😅😅
Arcane has a good gay romance too...that I am hoping...and damn it they better put it in Season 2 this November between Vi and Caitlyn. Brings back the classic romance stuff from Disney movies...shy girl meets a girl who had it rough growing up, lost her parents to a fucked up classism war between Top Side and the Under City, lost her father figure and her childhood friends by her sister who gets ruptured with evil by a smart villain. I don't usually go for gay romances, but Vi and Caitlyn fire every scene they have together. You really feel it by episode 6. And Arcane is set up in 3 episode acts. Act 1 is episodes 1-3, Act 2 is eps 4-6, and Act 3 is eps 7-9. And it is a popular show on Netflix.
Why not have Asha be part of the natives from Rosa, who are also naturally gifted in "healing magic". Asha, having the most potential out of all her people, becomes Magnifico's first and only apprentice. She finds out that Magnifico only grants wishes that are harmless to his position in power, and the rest are left in the vault - but in reality, he absorbs those wishes to further fuel his already powerful magic…and maybe he was the real reason for his old kingdom's downfall. Asha uses her magic to unintentionally cause a star to land on Earth. As Magnifico is aware that the star's power actually eclipses his own, and uses the dark book to become powerful enough to steal Star's magic. Asha, remembering her grandfather's and late father's words about wishes, is able to encourage everyone to take back their wishes as they have the power make them real. Star escapes the staff's mirror and imprisons Magnifico in his place. While the kingdom of Rosas repairs itself, Amaya is revealed to be the true mastermind behind all of Magnifico's evil deeds; and vows to one day free her beloved husband. Or why not have Asha be Magnifico and Amaya's adopted or biological daughter - imagine having to battle your own parents in order to save your home. Another version is Asha doesn't know what she really wants - as she has all she needs, plus is very helpful and reliable in Rosas. Magnifico still refuses to grant Sabino's vague wish, and explains that his old kingdom was destroyed because a being from the stars granted everyone's wish and caused mayhem to spread. The being than abandoned everyone as the kingdom tore itself apart (Magnifico and Amaya being the only survivors). Asha wishes upon a star and Star appears, and the two grant most of the wishes - however, Star, still not in full control of his powers, unintentionally causes mayhem and disorder. Magnifico, aware he is not powerful enough to stop all the chaotic magic hesitantly uses the dark book. Sabino suffers a heart attack during a scuffle, and regrets not being able to inspire people with his music - but Asha reveals that his music made people happy and inspired them to help others - Sabino dies peacefully in his sleep. Magnifico steals Star's magic, but Asha is able to realize the magic that all people have and their connection to the stars. Magnifico is defeated and imprisoned. Leaving his kind wife to replace him as ruler. Amaya and Asha promise to find a way to free and cure Magnifico. Asha learns that Magnifico had a system to keep everyone safe from themselves, and that not every wish should be granted. Star, aware he's not meant to live in this world, gives Asha a wand made of his magic - they share a kiss before he returns among the other stars.
I get that Disney tried to highlight the importance of family love with Maleficent live action and Frozen, but they completely forgot that it's romance what leads to the creation of new families. If you live convinced that you will never love anyone more or as much as your progenitors and siblings, then that is the death of hope.
They don’t get the balls to make main characters gay and make the romantic relationship “important to the plot”.
They do that so they can cut it off to sell their products in relative conservative countries.
It’s not normally a mega problem, but Modern Disney is quite against straight romantic relationships.
Allowing good family relationships is the most thing they can do now under ESG and DEI regulations.
It ends up no romantic relationship that’s both interesting and good at the same time for our main characters.
It’s either gay and plain, straight and bad, or never even exist to begin with.
I don’t think the classic trips don’t work anymore. They’re classic and have been around for all human history because there’s something true about them. As a woman I want to be protected and rescued by a strong man, thankfully I have that in my husband. All that to say I don’t think women should feel bad for having that desire that women have experienced for literal centuries.
It is a pretty interesting take, and I like your idea for the development of the star boy and Asha, but I find the unique idea of Magnífico really interesting to change him this much, instead of upgrading what he already is.
Magnífico is a really unique villain, because he isn't the type of guy to manipulate people for power itself, but to be a necessity.
He made his subjects dependent of him because of the fear of losing his place again, even if in the process he made everyone depressed.
This is specially telling for me at the ending of the movie, because while Magnífico offered magic to make the wishes real in the most literal sense, one girl with the wish of flaying ended up inventing airplanes to achieve her dream in her own way. Wish she couldn't achieve before because Magnífico made her forget it and lack the energy to search for a new one
Raisorblade editor: DAMN BOY🤣🤣🤣😂
