    I just purchased one of these carpet rakes from HD. Our carpet is 16 years old and we are the original homeowners. It's just my wife and I and we never wear shoes in the house. We actually just had it cleaned for the first time since purchasing the home. We vacuum regularly and I use Resolve cleaner if we notice any type of spots on the carpet. The high traffic areas have looked some what "matted" for some time now. After using the rake as shown in the video we too were pleasantly surprised with the result. I will make this a regular part of maintaining our carpet in the future. Well worth the less than $15.00 price.

    Interesting I grew up in the 70s I had a shag carpet in my room we used a regular metal rake to rake it. It was pretty ugly but my sister and I loved it. That looks really nice. It does look fun and satisfying. I’m weird though and I love to vacuum 😊

    My husband is flat footed and there's no way to keep the carpet up just by vacuuming wherever he walks on a daily basis. Our rake will be delivered this week and this video helped us make the decision! Thank you!

      One hint I can give is don't use is hard. I hear some people saying they break them, and all I can think is they are pushing down on them too hard. It doesn't take a lot of force. Mine has lasted just fine.

    This type is not meant to pull up fur or hair. It is simply meant to pull up the carpet fibers. There are other types that are designed for picking up fur and hair.

    Hi, the rake sounds like a great idea.
    Though I was wondering - about how often do you need to give the matted carpet a 'raking' to keep it looking decent? (with some light foot traffic)

    • @Kissy-Suzuki
      @Kissy-Suzuki ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Does the lifted carpet feel soft or like little spikes. I've tried lifting matted carpet using other techniques, but i couldnt get the same softness

    • @AverageMe
      @AverageMe  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It feels soft. After I would rake it, it was quite noticeable on bare feet. Of course, it could depend on the carpet style, and I did get into the habit of using the rake about once a week in the heavily matted areas to keep it looking and feeling good. I suspect it would be even better if you never let it get matted in the first place . The carpet in the video was a heavy traffic area.

    • @AverageMe

      No, all it can do is raise the nap and loosen dirt. I doubt it would remove a stain.

    Hmmm, I don't know.
    This product looks fragile on the bristles and handle, and I fear it won't work on old carpets, older than 20+ years, with tough piles to bounce back.
    How can you compare this rake against a pvc yard broom when used on carpet?

    • @AverageMe
      @AverageMe  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't know, but I'd say try whatever you think would work. I was happy with this product for my use.

    When you move the carpet back and forth like that with a rake or something of that nature you're actually putting the dirt under the carpet part of it is being raped into a pile but part of it is going under the carpet but anyway

    • @AverageMe
      @AverageMe  4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      There's not a lot of dirt to start with.

    • @italianmermaid6306
      @italianmermaid6306 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      That isn’t true. Raking the carpet actually loosens and lifts the dirt prior to vacuuming.
      He did a great job, let him have his glory.

      actually a lot of professional carpet cleaners here on TH-cam always recommend raking your carpets because a good vacuuming. they said it loosens the dirt and pile and helps clean it really well.

    • @AverageMe
      @AverageMe  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Of course, carpet always compresses when stepped on. And it’s not magically returning to new. What this will do is add life, keep it cleaner, and make it look better than it did without the rake.
