  • I was asked by some to do this video. The power bucket dug a hole with ease. It seems to work better if you do not use the teeth. If you would like to check out the Ventrac Power Bucket And the other attachment that they offer just click on the link below.

    I'm a mechanic at golf course with two Ventracs. The first two we had ran until about 5000 hours before we sold them. That was with a lot of issues along the way, broken axles, overheating, lots of hydraulic leaks, rear trans casing cracked, I could go on. We replaced them with two new 4500z units this past spring. So far the build quality seems to be better than it was 10 years ago, but it's still early. They're a machine I love to hate and hate to love. Not much else can do what they do.

      They are great machines. I have a friend with a 4500Y pushing just under 1000 hours and so far he has had zero issues. He is pretty hard on his stuff, so makes me feel good because I know I won't use mine as hard as he does. 5000 hours is a lot of hours. There are a lot of hydraulic hoses and fittings for potential leaks, But like you said no other machine can do what they do. I think you will have good luck with the 4500s.

    It’s amazing what those buckets can do. We went through a 5 year building project in Northwest PA with a 20 hp Steiner 430 Max and a slip scoop. Where we live, the soil content is mostly rock, clay, silt, and shale. We must’ve been able to move 100’s of Tons of dirt with that alone. I’d say the deepest we were able to get was 7’ below grade, which was a time when we had to unbury the foundation around our house, after clay had fallen in around it. Once you get a hole started, it seems to get through just fine, but it seems when it comes to hard packed clay and rock towards the surface; it becomes extremely difficult. I wonder if that’s where the bucket teeth would really earn their stripes.

      The teeth definitely have a advantage for removing hard packed material and pulling up rocks. That is pretty impressive digging 7 feet down with the bucket. These machines are amazing how much work they can achieve with being a compact tractor.

    There arent much videos on the Versa Loader. I would like to see if you could dig a hole with a versa loader.

    I wonder if those little ventrex tractors have 4-wheel drive?

    I am old and slow and unable to dig with a pick and shovel . Thank you, I was wondering if it would dig a hole deep enough to like bury a good size dog if needed. my ground is hard with some baseball size rocks. Interesting the comparison of teeth and no teeth. I really enjoy your videos.

      I hear you not wanting to dig with a shovel. I really appreciate the Ventrac And how it makes life easier. You could definitely dig a hole to bury a pet in a short amount of time. I have found the teeth work very well for pulling large rocks out of the ground, But for digging the regular bucket works better. I am glad you enjoy the videos.

    I know you had a 430 and now the Ventrac. Which tires did you prefer. Do you think the bar tires on the Steiner were better than the heavy turf that the Ventrac has?

    • @steiger256
      @steiger256  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I still prefer the bar tires. The bars did not hold mud, And they got better traction in wet muddy areas. The bar treads were better in the snow also. I switched out the tired qhen I got my 430 to tbe bars, I wish I would have gone bars again. I just like them better.

      @@steiger256 Thanks, I appreciate the reply. I will stick with the bar tires.
