You won't BELIEVE how much companies pay for this:

- A brief recap of one aspect of a stormwater management job I had that proved to be very profitable. Much more so than any residential work I have done with the Ventrac 4520P and a side of the business I hope to do more of in the coming year.

You have been VenTrac's best ambassador because your work demonstrates how VenTrac masters every challenge. 👍
He’s not the only one
you sound like you work for them
Agree xx
To me that needs fixed. Not just mowed. Will grow back in no time. An excavator is the correct job for this in my opinion. Dig all the weeds out from the roots. Re slope the swail. Lay fabric and gravel to slow weed growth, or better yet lay storm pipe to move the water. One time investment vs paying for this expensive mowing a couple times per year. Ventracs are amazing for sure and its crazy how it didn't get stuck. A tracked skid steer would destroy it and a zero turn would be buried on each pass.
Ok. Finally a demonstration of the Ventrac doing some mowing that the Altoz cannot accomplish. I did a lot of this type of work when I was in Tampa and the Ventrac, with that front mounted, adjustable deck can get out over the water where my Altoz would have to get into the water. As you mentioned, I could cut in standing water as long as the water didn't get to to the blades/spindles. Without the Ventrac, that job would have required a tractor with boom mounted deck
Very nice feedback. I don't have an Altoz and doesn't look like I will ever get to demo one, so I am clueless about what they could do in a real world setting.
@@CopperCreekCuts I'll say it again, I've had next to zero issues with mine and it gets used hard. My only complaint is again how front heavy it seems. I would suggest to then to widen the track footprint and length the tracks so that the deck was centered within the track system. I'm not sure how they'd have to address the engine placement but, then again, I'm not an engineer. Have a great weekend
Just plain amazing that the Ventrac didn't get stuck.
The Venny looked weird in single-tire mode. Got used to seeing it run dualies, from and rear
Can’t believe that didn’t get stuck!! Great job. 😊
I see you found my Ratchet i lost on the railroad tracks.
SOL
Nice try! :D
@@CopperCreekCutsIt’s mine. I’m in the UK but you are welcome to keep it Brad. 😂😂By the way I have never had a passport, just so you know I’m kidding xx
I worked Storm Water for City of Lakeland. We would have the Menzi do what you are doing and then back it up with Weedwackers and Sickle Bars. I’ve been around Gators and Water Moccasins and all the other Vermin.
That was very educational. I did not know / didn’t think about how they should be are regulated . Thank you!
I’m using a hedge trimmer on steep banks because you can adjust the head angle.
In really dense foliage I switch to a 3 blade steel blade.
All with the support vest…. Saves the lower back strain.
Did anyone else see the critter hop into the water at 9:15?
Brad & Ventrac to the rescue once again! Still shake my head at how I credible that machine is. Thanks for the 8-wheel explanation & demo…didn’t know.
👍👍👏👏👏👍👍
Stopped by. Enjoy that you are always learning new things and try new things. Glad the Ventrac can do vital things, as the storm water areas and could also do it IN storm conditions, when it might be a crisis fix.
Thanks for talking all through the video! Awesome1
Love that your getting into stormwater cleanup and look forward to those videos
Good on you for posting that you found a tool. Mistakes happen, and tools are so dang expensive! Cool video. Those Ventracs are amazing machines!!
Yeah those storm water outlets and inlets, retention ponds and settling ponds. No one likes to clean those up because it's fantastically messy, often hot because of waders and such. Not to mention generally nasty because, they catch run off from roads, parking lots, buildings. All the road dirt, grunge, oils, grease and whatever else ends up in those. So having to get in one with a string trimmer that'll fling a fine spray of that dirty water and sludge, yeah folks generally pass on those.
For the people in caretaker of the property though, failure to maintain them can and often is assessed in fines per day. Which for the area I live in, starts at about $500 a day in fines for the first offense. That goes up to $1000 a day after two weeks. Second offense? Starts at $1500 and doubles after a week.
Get a good high floatation cutter like the double wheel ventrac, maybe a high flow mini excavator with a flail mower head or mulcher head. Couple string trimmers and a trimmer with a brush cutter or two, maybe a pole chainsaw. That'll take care of a lot in the more overgrown ones.
Many get overgrown because there isn't enough code enforcement to make regular inspections of industrial and other sites that need such storm water control measures. But when they do get picked up for a violation, they want it dealt with last week kind of urgent.
I suppose i should also clarify, the fines above as i indicated. Those are only the local ones. The state fines start at $5k a day and will double after a week. If it also empties out into a wstershed creek or river. Federal fines usually start at about $7500 and just go up. And you'll have to pay for a inspection to the tune of $10k per inspection, so get inspected more than once... Gets expensive quick.
Brother was a code enforcement and regularly nailed a few industrial places. He also caught a tire shop dumping tires into a overgrown detention pond then pushing dirt over it. Just the local fines for that was a smidge over $238,000 before the state and federal level got their flesh.
Glad to see your business is doing so well.
Ventrac owes you a lifetime supply of "Ventrac's". I have recently been taking jobs like this for the first time. I let them know about the extra cost for the "underwater mowing equipment", which in my case is my waders and the echo srm 3010T with black diamond string. Maybe one day when I become rich and famous like Brad, I'll get a ventrac...love your videos Brad, keep up the good work...
New day with new knowledge brought to us by Brad. Thanks
It’s time to get a Boom Mower attachment and really be able to knock those out. Great work!
This is a really well produced video. The filming and audio are both top notch. Great job!
Just love the Ventrac so versatile
I wish they made a mini for homeowners, I got a steep ditch that runs the entire length of my yard on two sides
Good one Brad as always and very informative too xx
You wear waders that are chest hi or hip waders when going fishing in rivers too. That is the common use for them, here in Alaska.
i run a ventrac 4500y duel tire set up and the company i work for has 2 4520y machines and the 4500y that i run, 2 run duels and 1 is single tire set up. we run on up to 45 degree slopes with the duels but we also run the psi in the tires between 12-15 psi
I realize this is an older video but I've seen in another video of yours that you have a mini excavator. There are attachments made for mini excavators that are skeleton buckets with a hydraulic driven sickle bar that you put the bucket in the water and drag the, the cutting of the sickle bar drops all of the weeds in the skeleton bucket, all of the water drains out as you lift the bucket out of the water. I would think this processes would do a cleaner, nicer, and a more professional looking job therefore maybe getting you more work in doing this
I use a harness I bought off amazon. It goes around both shoulders and is a lot more comfortable.
Fantastic video I sure would love a Ventrac. One day.
Hmmm 60k vs $300 trimmer... I'll bet the same amount of time too
Bruh, you a hustler. Love it. Keep it up
Just out of curiosity, but wouldn’t the perfect setup for this type of work be a mini track hoe with a rotatable brush cutter on the arm? You could sit high and dry on the side and reach everything. You could probably even get an attachment that was some sort of rake like buck that would let you pull out all the trash without getting wet as well! I’m sure it would not be cheap, but if you want to expand this type of work, you’d be really well equipped for it!
So, how many times do you think the Ventrac has paid for itself since you bought it?
(Excellent video, too)
Just wondering if you plan on putting a boom mower attachment on there? I Wonder if Ventrac makes those? 👀
I’d be interested in running a 3020 for an extended period. I’m happy with my Stihl 240
Ventrac recommends 7 or 8 PSI for the inner and 4 or 5 for the outer, giving the inner tires slightly larger diameter and creating more cushion for the outer tires which is less stress on the axle...I disagree and run all my tires at the same PSI to maximize contact area on all 8 tires.
My company does a lot of Subdivisions mainly HOA’S we charge $1200-$1500 per drain. If they don’t keep it maintained upon City Inspection’s they will warn them and then fine them and it they don’t pay the City they can Auction of these Drains to the public and then some random person owns part of the Subdivision property 😢😂
how do u get these jobs
You should mow the tall grass with the trimmer from top down not side to side to help break down the plant material.
I cut close to 600 acres of retention ponds in Marion County fl you should come to a few with your ventrac
I love your video so much keep up the great work florida Man.
yeah ... you could really use the telescoping side cutting sickle mower
Is the Ventrac only compatible with Ventrac attachments or can it take off brand stuff too? I was thinking that a mesh bucket might have been easier and faster? I'm not a landscaper so I wouldn't really know
I’ve seen this company around town before, they’re the only one that runs ventracs
I cant wait to get me a VenTrac. My kid reminds me every week lol
Fantastisch Good work lawn you the best friend thans te video Top men 🚚🌿🌾🚜😎😅🥤👍✔️
you have a youtube shorts video about a HOA and you have a guy vacuuming up juniper cuttings....what system do you put together in order to do this?
3 different engines available in that, which one do you have ??
I got a john deere xt105 straight shaft just got done getting parts replaced on it
Hey does that mower chew through belts frequently? Got a Steiner and we go through atleast 1 a week 😢
The srm3020 isn't bad, but I'll stick with my stihl fs131...a tad more hp plus better low end grunt due to being a 4 stroke.
Does Ventrac make a belt, like on the skid steers ?
Couldn’t you have done all of this with the mower? I’m considering buying this machine but curious if it would be ok for my application I have some really swampy land that’s probably all like the deepest of the ditch shown
Got a hurricane coming. Glad you are getting ready.
North East Florida, are you riding out the hurricane coming on wednesday?
For reference, a 4x4 is 3.5"x3.5" and a 6x6 is 5.5"x5.5". So the difference is 2".
yes 6 - 4 = 2
RIP to whoever had their $500 Snap-On wrench fall off the truck going over the railroad tracks. We learned to buckle things down that day, didn't we? At least the wrench found a good home.
Meanwhile post 10 "hold my rake"
How is what you did benefit the drainage problem at all? All you did is chop the top off. The problem is the blockage under the water caused by the plants and roots. That stuff will grow back in 2 weeks and it won't look any different then when you first arrived there.
was also thinking this. does not seem very efficient overall
well, i always just used a mini excavator with a 4 foot bruh cutter in place of the bucket, i could get the machine itself into about 3.5 feet of water and keep on tracking, did miles upon miles of cutting with it!
Ventrac. The Unimog of the landscaping industry.
I would of sprayed that ditch. Mowing it is just wasting money since its going to grow back really fast.
That is my half in he swival head can you send it back please! 🤣 3:37
Alot guys are switching to the fine cut flail mower because of the different blades😊😊😊
How much would one of those 4520 cost and how much would a mower cost?
Why the need to track or inventory the trash that comes out of the waterway?
Fun times :) So how much do they pay ?? Cuz that's the title of your vid ad.
Why don’t you keep a battery impact on you for putting those tires on?
Using mini with brush cutter is how we do it
I'm a small child compared to you given the machines I've got, but this year I was able to price up everybody up to 20% and nobody complained given the inflation here in EU. But man do I need a zero turn. I'm sick of walking behind my Honda. Unfortunatelly most of my clients have wacky properties which are unaccessable by zero turn or are too small for me to invest 10 grand in one.
What strap is that on your string trimmer??
Been more than year since I've really watched and spent time on the channel. So, did some binging this weekend and the takeaway...? The air of professionalism has increased exponentially. No small feat, due no doubt to the acquisition and addition of the Ventrac and going after the jobs this machine excels at that others are not able to tackle.
Lubritive??😂 Did you just make up a word!?😅
Hey I’m missing a Snap-On socket wrench that’s scratched up
couldnt there be aligators in that water? 😨
in lakes, rivers, streams and ponds, sure. but snakes and turtles are more likely to be found in stormwater ditches, though your occasional gator isn't unlikely.
@@Sara-L thats good.. i dont live in the states but i heard in florida theres gators everywhere where theres water to sit in. :D
Is there a price mentioned? If so I missed it.
Where do you get your yellow do rag n neck flap?
sunmullet.com/!
I wouldn’t take the trash to the dump cuz I don’t wanna pay for it.
Then you wouldn't have won this job. It is a requirement of the subs this company works with.
@@CopperCreekCuts did they pay you back however much was in there?
@@CopperCreekCuts I’m not saying I wouldn’t pick up the trash, but I don’t want to pay to get rid of it. I would get a contractors license at a dump so I don’t have to pay much for it lol
Is it four-wheel-drive? We got some John Deere models is four-wheel-drive.
did ya'll see what looks like a snake at 9:15? No way I'd go in that water.
Nope, 6 psi on outer wheels and 8 on the inside tires.....higher pressure on outer wheels will put too much pressure on the transaxles on slopes
Did I hear that correctly? 6PSI?
Yeah yeah. Big idea. You have to have a friend or someone who likes you to get a contract to do about anything. You can't say that it's an open market and you better have the contract BEFORE you buy that big Ventrac.
You are very brave
What about a skid steer with bush hog on the front of it. Wouldn’t that work as well
It looked like a nice little environment for some animals, but we got to do our job
lol is there a reason why he is wearing a hard hat on a lawnmower that funny. that has to me first for me seeing this
What, no bags of money in that drainage?
Why not use a skid loader?
Now if ventrac can make it the ego of industrial lawn mowers would be great and environmentally friendly no gas no problem just all electric the future is electric let's keep the earth fully green and healthy make everything electric
You know goats would have made quick work of that ditch
goodun !
I would have brought in some goats. Articulation is on the vertical axis and oscillation is on the horizontal axis.
💚👍👍👍
What about gators?
hahah pickles
about time to break out the Track Hoe ?
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
So don’t let it get that bad then talk about price lol
Think I’d use a mask when cutting in that crap. There was all sorts of mist floating in the air all around you.
