    love your dancing! great tutorial. thanks!! Is the cucaracha in rumba dance the same way as in cha cha?

    • @DanceInsanity
      @DanceInsanity  5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Luisame - great question! it's pretty much the same. In rumba, since you have more time you can weight change entirely as you step to the side on count of 2. In cha cha, you can still do that, but another good option that I like to do, is to keep your weight more spilt/ centered between both feet.

    Comments on what partners can sense and follow are helpful. Gotta wonder, Geez, what if I try something new, would she be able to go with it (or would she be like, "Hey, wtf you doin, Dude-o!"? .

      @Rand H true dat!! Be confident and it also helps to throw in more creative steps after you get a sense of the level of your follower, After dancing with her for a while.

    You have said start with left foot first due to origin of rumba but why is it that some instructors emphasize starting to the left on the one count. Is one more correct or is one Ballroom verses social or is there no real answer just ones preference? O Thanks for Your Friday’s there absolutely Great

    • @DanceInsanity
      @DanceInsanity  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Gary Hackenberg Good Question. Leaders always start by stepping onto the left foot for the basic. For American style basic, you start on the count of 1. So, leaders start by stepping to the side left, on the count of 1, then go into the basic with a rock back on the right. By starting on the count of 1, it's easier to keep time to music.
      For International style cha cha, the basic starts on the count of 2. Therefore, leader rocks forward left on the count of 2, to begin the cha cha basic. You can really start either way, as long as you are rocking on 2. :)

      @@DanceInsanity Mostly focused on Latin dances- Rumba, Chacha, Salsa, Bachata, and Merengue but also learning (American) Tango, Waltz, and Foxtrot.

      @masterxiangqi Awesome! Are you dancing socially/ competition/ shows? What are you looking to improve in your Latin dances?

      @@DanceInsanity Still primarily at a social level (Bronze) but danced in some studio showcases too. I really like the videos where you show exercises to isolate key fundamentals - for example, the hip exercises you showed helped me a lot. After I practiced the exercises in your video, I was praised several times at my next rumba class for my great hip action :-) If there are more fundamentals like that that students can isolate and work on at home, I would love to see videos covering them.
