If this wasn't for Half-Life 3 it would make perfect sense for a L4D3
we know they were working on a L4D3 prototype at some point, maybe it was repurposed
Came here to say this, seems very gore-y which is right up what l4d is about.
if l4d3 comes out after i die im coming back to life ong
@@verifios Nah fr man. But look at the bright side: Back 4 Blood failed, Earthfall too and same for a lot of co-op 4 players shooters. I'm sure Valve will launch l4d3 at some point, just to show to people how to make a co-op game.
I hope they will revive l4d3, they have everything for this

I can imagine that. Killing floor have actually a nice gore system and if you remember SoF (Soldier of Fortune) then you can remember how that game was gory. In this modern day with the tech level available the HL3 should be gory, scary and action packed.
Dead Island 2 gore would be amazing
HL3 returning to gore like HL1 where npcs turn into messy pieces... Hmmmm..
imagine throving smg greande at metrocop and it exploding into pieces
they should add back the bug of holding click on a body with a crowbar for half life 3 lol

Hopefully Ragdolls no longer just go limp and fall to the ground when killed like in half life 2 and episodes and is more like the L4D death animations
Headshot should still mean instant ragdoll
I would love if it has an option to turn off the gibs. Sometimes I just want to see the ragdoll flies 20ft off the air.
@@humanbeing418even if that wont happen by valve, source is fairly "moddable", so it will happen regardless

L4D2 had an amazing gore system, not to mention the animations! I haven't seen the responses to damage being done nearly as well in any other game.
that was the biggest letdown for me when it comes to Back 4 Blood.
It would be amazing to see for future games, maybe along with gta iv euphoria ragdolling.

Finally! realistic destructable physics in Source games, this is gonna be awesome!

I love how Water cs2 changed to Water VALVE.

I gotta wonder if Valve makes these leaks so easy to find on purpose. I mean they could have a separate in house engine build that they make and test changes on, yet they update public builds with this stuff. Kinda genius if that’s the case, marketing costs are basically 0.
It's possible- though valve really hates to get fans hopes up.
they just don’t care, might be too much work to hide all that stuff and prefer to focus on more important stuff
Duality of valve fans
- They care about us!
- They don't care about us. See you in a decade
( Please don't take this too seriously)
Half-Life 3/HLX will just be released onto Steam with no announcement. Basically the same as deadlock.
@@queuedjar4578 I hope they don't even list it lol just let us find it.
This certainly sounds like a Half-Life/Valve thing. Valve is always looking to iterate on their previous releases, so a new gore system and destructible environments certainly fits the bill.
Considering they have a whole temperature system and its inpact on environments in development for HLX these combined makes me wonder if you're gonna be able to cook some poor Combine alive with a piece of superheated sheet metal or something...
Why am I reminded of the alleged HL3 weapon files years back that involved manipulating elements and destroying the environment? Even stuff regarding melting ice, which kind of fits with the Borealis..
Hot rod cross bow 🤫
Gore? Disable limbs? Perfectly fit L4D3.
i'll say it's probably also going to be used in l4d3 cuz they literally almost finished it in source 2 but couldn't cause the engine was undercooked, hl3 would probably mark source 2 being done soooo..
HLA already marked Source 2 being done. HL3 will just take it to the next level
@@vibaj16 it wasn't done, the game used only what they needed to complete at that time
@@lyrebird5982 An engine is never really done. But it was complete enough to make a full game on it from scratch.
@@vibaj16 literate what I said.
Why did you even reply?????
@@lyrebird5982 because the point is that hl3 won't "mark source 2 being done" as op said
The complex gore system fits more for L4D rathen then HL. Especially, that valve was working on L4D3, but they have to stop becouse source 2 was unfinished. Maybe they have returned to it?
Clearly you didn't play HL1
Man.. play half life 1 before you make these sorts of statements.
Just because HL1 had it doesn't mean HL3 will. Shocked people in here think valve haven't neutered the mature visuals in their games since L4D2, with the exception of Alyx, and even then, still very barebones.
The system where you can hurt an enemy in a specific location sounds a lot like Boneworks. In Boneworks, you can shoot an npc's legs and when they try to stand up they immediately fall down because you've damaged their legs or when you shoot their arms and they try and punch you they flail their arms around to attack you.
MGS2 had this system in 2001...
Fallout had this system in 1997...

😂😂 ikr, every video
yall getting your hopes up expecting valve to count to 3, me personally i think theyre just gonna troll us by doing some shit like a half life 2 remake in S2
Honestly I don't expect them to do anything with Half-Life for the next decade or two tbh. If I'm wrong, then I'll be pleasantly surprised, but age has taught me not to get my hopes up.
How quickly people forget they left us hanging for 13 years after Episode 2, only to drop a VR game in our laps.
funny thing is, i would still love that lmao
@@sanctumscream372 1. valve still dropped a full half life game in 2020, it still exists even though you dont have the vr headset to play it, and 2. one of the main people who worked on half life alyx said they arent afraid to do stuff with half life anymore
@@idfk-x4f Fair point, a VR game is still a game, though in my eyes it's not really a 'full' title as Half-Life 1 or 2. It's more like...Episode 1 or 2 in my eyes.
And again, I'll believe it when I actually see it. I had enough copium in the late 2000s/early 2010s, I'm not getting excited unless Valve actually puts out a trailer, a store page, something concrete.

Honestly I would speculate they're testing out some of their code ideas with CS2 as a establish testbed with already functional assets and code to see what could work in HL3. Destruction of body parts also feels like this leans more into Valves core idea of a word that responds back to your own actions in more creative ways to be more satisfying, similar to how something like Doom Eternal had destructible body parts to make fighting an enemy easier or in Helldivers against the bots where destroying a bots arms makes the more or less harmless. Cool news none the less.
Imagine how enemies might explode with all gore pieces if they die from AR2 balls or something like that. I always wished enemies wouldn't just dissapear from reality
I love that "matter deletion" trait of the AR2 secondary fire, because what the actual fuck what is happening to them???? Give me all of that unreal body horror: getting utterly deleted is terrifying. Maybe, they'll IMPLODE, or explode, or de-materialize and be drawn into a micro black hole? As long as there are destructible/disarming phases, I'll be pleased.
About fucking time we get hl3 news i did not mean to sound so aggressive they should take their time
we've been getting HL3 news for weeks
NPC will play a death animation slightly above where they actually were facing in a random direction and at the end of it they will get flung at mach speed into a wall while getting half way stuck in the wall, then you walk up to it and then the game crashes. source 2 isnt any less buggy than 1 and thats why I love it
Imagine if Hl3 had black mesa and/or l4d gore.
havent watched the full video yet, but:
perhaps it's called ep1_citadel because either the citadel from half-life 2 is somehow the first chapter (maybe a gman speech there or something idk) or the game is set in episodes again.
ep1_citadel is the prefix for the filenames of the first episode one maps. The full filenames match the map names too.
I would speculate this is being worked on for l4d3 over hl3. I remember hearing a bit of commentary from l4d2 and valve talking about the effort and attention to detail in death animations and how they wanted the player to feel the brutality of the damage they're doing. There are different animations based on what weapon is used and where they were hit. There were 43 unique ways to damage infected in l4d2, and because you can injure zombies more than once without killing them it provides for about 780 possible damage combinations. The npc variation also applies, each level in the l4d games have basic zombies but their appearance varies based on the location the level is set in (ie offices have office workers, hospital has zombies in gowns etc.) I get the impression that Half-life 3 isn't going to be the breakout introduction of all the capabilities and neat features of Source 2 like Half-life 2 was, considering source 2 has been around for a while now. Valve will release other games first, expanding systems and taking in player feedback and incorporating all the best features of them into hl3. It will be the best game ever made and also the final chapter in Gordon Freeman's story because they will not be able to top it. I bet the reveal for l4d3 will tease fans with a 3 appearing first before left 4 dead comes up.
Then again, HL does also have zombies. So it is plausible for HL3.
I will copyright strike this because it stole my heart
???
wtf
Why?!
So cute
I always wondered why there was stuff rendered in G-Man's suitcase in Half-Life 1; now I know! It was meant for an animation that never made it into the game.
hear me out
gore system in cs2
so u can shoot the shit out of the dead body of the negev user
There's more than one option here. It could be Left 4 Dead 3, it could be HL2 remasstered on Source 2 (and HL2's 20th anniversary is 16.11) it can be some addon to CS2 as well or even brand new game.
Half life fans every time there's new hl3 leaks 0:06
finally…. the game i’ve been waiting for almost my entire childhood….. IT’S APPROACHING
0:06 caught me off guard and probably caught you off guard too
I don't even want to believe anymore. It's just too good to be true
god imagine a dead island 2 style gore for half life 3, that would be fucking insane
The gore centric nature of these updates has me wondering if whatever Valve is cooking up isn't HL³, but something in Left 4 Dead. While HL always has been a violent and gritty universe, extreme gore like that seems out of place for the brand. I hope i'm wrong though, it's been such a long time.
Half-life 1 has dismemberment in it, and I assume the only reason HL2 didn't is to show off the ragdoll physics
@@hatti...hl2 dodnt have any because valve deemed it unnessecary, hl1 was valves first product so they went eith what they thought was good, later went bsck on living gibs, l4d series has gibs since it fits the universe greatly
Someone should ask Jeff Geerling if he could test this out with his full GPU setup for the Raspberry Pi.
I can only imagine what this does for zombies. I can just imagine what it's like whittling a zombie down until you finally kill the headcrab

It's cool that Valve is working on stuff like this. I just hope that it will eventually result in a game being shipped and properly supported after launch.
I'm so excited about Half life 3, especially now that after almost 20 years of waiting (for some) it seems like it might be coming true in the not so distant future anymore.
I bought the Half Life games in like 2008. back then, the engine was absolutely groundbreaking. never had I seen realistic physics in a game before, it felt truly revolutionary back then.
and I'm pretty sure with Half Life 3 it won't be much different either. that's just how Valve seems to be. They don't release games or hardware for the sake of releasing - they release them for the sake of pushing limits, for diving into new areas never or barely experienced before, they truly want to give something new to people that feels unique. they basically *created* a lot of genres back then.
In times where Sony and Nintendo seems to become more and more underhanded and opportunistic, I definitely put my trust into Valve at this point. it would be so funny if many people would just go full circle in terms of gaming with valve.
I could honestly see this being about a CS2 operation like the video said.
this seems a lot like the destructable enemies system from doom eternal, perhaps the id developers have been helping with this system
I rely on you for my news much more than Tyler McVicker. Though I will still watch his videos, I undoubtedly wait for your news updates!
even if hl3 released tommorow, i still wouldnt be able to run, and would have to avoid the internet as a whole to avoid spoilers lol

Imagine a real succesor to gmod in hlx that would be the best
the s&box in question:
s&box
Imagine Valve making a HL2 remake with Ep1-2 included with the retconned ending. Then never making a HL3...
Legit question: So are these updates in the code for the engine in which HL games run? And thats why we are assuming these CS2 code changes to appear in a future HL3?
After half life 3 i had a gut feeling a strong one that they will continue to develop L4D3
Good to have some healthy competition here on youtube regarding valve news and half-life so tyler mcvicker doesn't get datamining monopoly and can just sit on his information indefinitely.. :-)
0:45 oh lord have mercy
It should be noted that there is evidence that Valve is porting Half Life 2 to Source 2. It could be that they're using a previous game to test Source 2 functionality.
Would love to see Left for dead 3 with such gore system implemented
Hopefully this is the evolution of the gib system from HL 1.
They already did the thing with shooting off arms and legs in left for dead 2
Are we sure the gore system isn't just for antlion style enemies? The limbs get destroyed while the abdomen counts as a kill point when destroyed in Half-Life Alyx.
It would be interesting to see if they can use this system for other enemies though!
they are learning from the rdr2 engine, grab that, and add the physics of source games, perfection
the fans should combine the test depots and make a playable version
the ep1_citadel strings are actually the map file names for episode 1
if left 4 dead 3 comes out before half life 3 im gonna cry
pls dont make me cry...
Hey, we are company that have a bunch of dead born games and abandon projects. We promise we are working on something big!
Valve hasn't said a thing about HLX. This is all based on leaks.

can't wait to hear from my son about this "half-life 3" in 30 years
One thing i dont understand, is how or why valve keeps pushing staging changes to public production depots, such as neon prime, CS2 or Dota???
lets gooo, i always thought that ragdolls in hl2 were a bit of a downgrade from enemies EXPLODING INTO GIBS HAHAHAHHAHA
While this is a cool theory you forget the fact that this might just be for the upcoming tf2 winter update which makes more sense.
its probably just the new zombie mode on cs2
Ah yes... Source spaghetti is best cooked with some salsa after all!
Can't wait to see Half-Life 3 trailer.
This new engine seems incredibly processor intensive. Very curious how it’s optimized
So its like MGS2 and 3? That's cool
Gore could still make sense for CS2, if it simply allows you to dismember dead players.
Gibs + Ragdolls will go crazy fr 🔥
if my shitty laptop can handle Left 4 Dead 2 Gore Then It can Handle the HL3 Gore
I hope the gore is like left 4 dead 2 gore that would be awesome
We need to know what's inside g-mans suitcase, finally!
Who knows, maybe they'll back port AnimGraph2 and dismemberment to HL2.
0:45 that model has a bit too much detail
we are literally getting half life 3 before elder scrolls 6
Well this is 100% a new game at this point
sooo i can play dead space with the grav gun and saw blades ? may god have mercy on the combine
Yeah seems like my theory might be true - CS2 is actually the groundwork for next HL / L4D2 - but CS community who doesn't like change too much thinking Valve just added new feature that nobody asks.
I even thought about this recently like why are npcs always alive or dead why not disabled like you shoot legs off and they can still crawl and fight or cry
Imagine if it's just a Half Life 2 Source 2 remake
It smells like a L4D game IMO. I would love a L4D3
Its for Half Life 2 RTX
I made a comment a week ago saying they should bring l4d damage animations to hl2 20th anniversary but that's so much work.. you never know though.
also damage animations is something that's lacking in most modern games for some reason. doom eternal, dead island 2, and dead space remaster are the only games off the top of my head i recall even having proper models.
i still remember soldier of fortune. how developers can introduce something so awesome 20+ years ago and then stop doing said thing is beyond my comprehension. i need l4d damage models in all of my games definitely in mmorpg's because the combat in these games is so simple most of the time it lacks that extra umph.
It's funny too since damage models and animations are actually a relatively easy thing to code and have been around since forever.
i really want a gmod based off of hl3 instead of hl2 like the one we have rn
Man, seeing CS game with dismemberment, it somehow feels so wrong lol
0:06 what is valve testing with this one exactly!? 😳
